La Sirena Grill Review - Laguna Beach - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"If you’re with a big group after a day at the beach, and you just need an easy place for dinner, go to La Sirena. To be clear - it’s a small Southern California chain - and doesn’t hide that fact well. But the Mexican food is fresh, and it’s also easy to eat relatively healthy if you want to." - Katherine Lewin

Google
**"Must-Try Salmon Tacos in Aliso Beach"** These $5.50 grilled salmon tacos are the real deal. Perfectly cooked fish, fresh toppings, and generous portions - two will keep you satisfied for hours. The flavor combination is spot on. They offer a solid selection of local craft beers that pair well with the food. Great spot when you need: ✓ Quick, tasty meal ✓ Quality ingredients ✓ Good beer options

Cynthia

Google
This is how they serve their nachos? The menu lists grilled carne asada (grass-fed beef), chips, jack cheese, pinto beans, guacamole, sour cream, and pico de gallo—but where were the guacamole, sour cream, and pico? When we politely asked for the missing items, the staff was surprisingly rude about it. Disappointing experience.

Awesome place. I definitely recommend it, and I'll definitely be back. Nice and friendly staff. Food was delicious. Fresh, good quality and big portions. Great choice of beers.

Google
Wonderful food, wonderful service, a lot of beer options and ample seating and parking.

Google
If it's a beautiful day in the going to beach to have some lunch tortilla soup and some carnitas tacos with beans and chips and avocado. And fresh water. Perfect for outdoor environment eating. The experience was perfect

Google
This place is hands down delicious on the pricey side but totally worth the price in my opinion delicious shrimp burrito

Sir Ricky G Baby!

Google
Staff was super friendly and welcoming. I had wild salmon burrito and my friend got the salmon salad and they were so full of flavor! Guac was good and Horchata was on point as well. Will definitely be coming back and I live all the way in LA. That burrito was one of the best I’ve ever had

Philip Gomez

Google
I've had plenty of burritos in my time yet this one was just a notch above. I had the veggie burrito and a side of guac and they were very tasty! If you're looking for a great veggie burrito, this is the place.

Yelp
La Sirena is that cozy place that serves impeccable Mexican with fresh ingredients, their Cadillac margaritas are next level, especially when Adrian is behind the bar!! Everyone here is incredibly friendly, even the fellow patrons! I always leave with new found friends! This is where I take all of my visiting family and friends after some fun in the sun across the street. They always ask to go back when they revisit! My go-to is the chicken nachos, which are the best I've had in CA! And of course a refreshing Caddy Marg. They also have a great selection of local craft beers and even wine if that's your thing. My mom loves the salmon salad (personally I would never when the opportunity for fabulous Mexican food is available, but she raves about it!) My only gripe is that they don't have delivery service, they'd have a lot more of my business in the times when I can't get away from my work. But I love these guys and recommend to anyone who asks, so here I am recommending to you! Go now!!

Yelp
Start with food. Very good! I've had almost everything on this menu and love them all. Try the enchiladas - the red sauce is super tasty. A+ for service as well. This place gets packed during the summer. It's across the street from the Montage and the staff handles its very well. You'll need to be patient because it's very popular but the staff is always friendly and deliver excellent service. The owners definitely got the memo on good service.

Yelp
My 2nd time here today and first and last time I would dine here. I had a chicken fajita plate which included black beans and rice, no cheese. It lacked flavor and presentation. My tummy has been growling in disbelief and saying why did you make me eat dinner here tonight??? The salsa needs refreshing and so do the employees attitudes. 2 stars is a compliment! :(

Yelp
We just picked up an order for 7 tacos and a salad. While we were eating it my daughter found a small live beetle like bug on the tortilla of her carne asada taco. She couldn't eat any more and we had to look through the rest of the food to make sure there were no other critters. We liked the food but won't be coming again anytime soon.

Yelp
How did I not know about this place being a local? We had an evening meeting in the area and they suggested we eat dinner at La Sirena Grill. Service was very friendly. Atmosphere is casual and relaxed, very appropriate for the beach area. Salsa bar is fantastic!! The only reason I'm giving 4 star is the steak in my burrito was quite chewy but the flavors and other ingredients were great. I would absolutely come back!

Yelp
If you're looking for a quick bite along the Pacific coast highway between Dana Point and Laguna Beach this is your spot! You order your dish and they bring it out to your table. Very quick. Service and food was good. It's in a shopping area so you may find other stores of interest. It was not busy when I went so it lacked ambiance. It could be totally different at another time.

Abby R.

Yelp
Found this place randomly searching for somewhere to eat before heading down to the beach. I ordered the carne asada nachos and they were delicious! The service and ambiance were great as well! Definitely would recommend this place!

Yelp
It was my first time coming here, and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and flavor of their food. I got the Carne Asada lime avocado salad which was very flavorful, and the meat was very good quality. It was actual skirt steak! I also got the prickly pear margarita and that was super delicious! The pricing was actually pretty decent being that it was in Laguna Beach. I'll definitely be coming back!

Yelp
We always have a great experience at this location. I've been here 5 times I the last month and haven't been disappointed by the service, food quality or portions. I've had the burrito, enchilada plate, tacos - fish, beef, chicken. Among the three, I thought the chicken was a bit bland and dry. The beef and blackened fish have always been on point. The bar had all kinds of options and they have a solid rotating beer list. The house Marg never disappoints. Reading the other reviews, I'm surprised by some of the complaints because I've never had any of the issues mentioned. But I've never had a takeout order from this location either. Maybe they are "hit or miss" but up till now I haven't experienced a miss.

Yelp
Still my favorite calamari taco joint in all of SoCal. This place has AMAZING fish / seafood tacos. The service is fast, we always order pick up online and it's ready when we get there. This location is right on the PCH right next to Starfish Laguna. Open seating, and a cool ambiance. Definitely a fast casual pick up location for us but we love it & will always drive down for a good fish taco

Yelp
The food is great! The people are very nice and allows us to take are time to order. Overall this place is great to eat at it your coming from the beach.

Yelp
I really like this place. I've tried a few different dishes here but my favorite is the mahi mahi burrito. The employees are also really kind, especially the young blonde girl. I like the outdoor seating a lot because it's small and fun.

Yelp
No!!!!! I didn't want to believe it but the recent reviews on the quality here going down were sadly true. :( I came here last night because I was so excited the sun came out after all this rain. I wanted the classic avocado lime salad with a margarita. I ordered the Avocado lime salad with carne asada. There is a major and noticeable difference in the quality of steak in this salad. Every time I have ordered this in the past they served chunks of steak that was seasoned well and juicy. The steak I got last night you could tell was cheap meat. It disintegrated in my mouth when I ate it - not like a tender cut should but how low quality meat does. It had no flavor and honestly kind of makes me not want to ever order this again which makes me so sad because I love this salad so much it's the reason I keep coming back and bringing people here. Now the Margarita - which turned into two. I ordered the spicy mango margarita like I usually do. When prepared, I am assuming they ran out of limes and that's why they put a lemon instead. Honestly not that big of a deal but when I tasted it I could not taste any alcohol at all. It tasted like pure mango concentrate with ice. I also did not feel any effects of alcohol which I definitely should have considering I exercise about 8 miles earlier and only had a protein bar and soup for lunch. I chalked it up to being a fluke and went back for the house margarita thinking if I ordered a plain marg - maybe it would turn out fine. Again - wrong - tasted like lime margarita mix. My date went to pick it up for me and said he watched them make it and it was ice with margarita mix - he didn't see them add alcohol. Surely this is not how these used to be made here because one usually does it for me when I eat here. My date ordered the fish tacos like he usually does and said they weren't good either. Luckily he ordered a local beer so his drink worked out. This is a huge bummer. This was one of my favorite restaurants in south Laguna and it makes me so sad to see the quality go down like this and know that it wasn't an isolated incident. Considering a salad, plate of fish tacos, margarita and beer with tip ran us $70 ... not worth it at all.

Yelp
Solid mexican food. Chips and guac have generous portions and their meats are flavorful as well. Plenty of options and very clean seating inside and out. Service is good and typical for this kind of place. they also have a bar
google avatar

Yelp
Been going to La Serena since I was a little kid, quality of cooking has gone down the drain here. The one in central laguna has way better tasting food. I wouldn't recommend this place anymore it's dirty

Anthony P.

Yelp
They are definitely skimping on the amount of meat. The burritos are clearly smaller. The bowls have way less meat and are always inconsistent. You're suppose to get chips with every bowl or burrito. Instead they gave us one big bag. My family and I would go here 1-3 times a week. It's really not worth it anymore. You lose customers because you are worrying about .50 cents of meat. This place used to be good. Also this has happened multiple times. Don't recommend it. The guy who cleans the tables and brings the food is very nice and good worker.

Yelp
I've been a regular for about 13 years. Great food & beer. We enjoy sitting at the bar ordering food and drinks. The current manager of the bar is very nice, however most recently there is a larger guy working the bar who bears a beanie. Not sure what's going on- but he's not very friendly at all. No hello, no eye contact. Today we sat down and watched him count money from a drawer. He never once said hi or anything. We had to ask to order a beer. Wow. Why have someone work behind the bar if they are not friendly? In the future if he's working I'll just order drinks with cashier then sit at the bar. Today, I was over it. This was the 3rd time having this experience. Sorry I had to post this, but this is not the La Sirena I'm used to.

Yelp
I have been coming to this establishment for years. I am completely flabbergasted how things have changed. The chips smelled like fuel the oil must have been old or burnt. The food has definitely changed. Declined a lot. Not sure why the quality has declined so much in the last year. Such a great place. The food used to be five star, definitely not anymore. We were a party of eight and not one plate got finished. Such a bummer. Not coming back.

Yelp
Horrible customer service! I placed an online order and it wasn't until I got home that I realized I had MULTIPLE items missing. I tried calling SEVERAL times to cancel the rest of the order however only their voicemail picks up which states to not leave a VM. I only drove back because a second full bag of food items was missing. When I went to the counter to explain, the employee said it was also our fault for not checking the order. Although he had a point, the tone and way of saying it was extremely disappointing and rude. It is a standard procedure that all to go items should be checked by employees. Where is the presence of management? Bad look for La Sirena Grill to have an employee that is comfortable to talk like that to a customer. However La Sirena Grill in downtown Laguna rocks not just in food but customer service. Take notes.

Brandon S.

Yelp
Been coming here for years. Not as often after covid. Decided to pop in today, and Miguel delivered amazing customer service. Friendly , fast and informative. Food was great , great beers on tap and Miguel's CS was top notch. Will start coming back again.

Yelp
Great Mexican food with a great beer and wine selection. This location is south of the original one in downtown Laguna which is much smaller and has no alcohol. However this second newer location charges extra for chips and extra salsa with order. Original one gives chips and extra salsa at no extra charge. This is why l gave 4 stars instead of 5 plus this new location opens at 11am and also no breakfast menu which is why we came down to. We just assumed they opened early like original one. Parking at this new location is no problem and I love that they have a huge outdoor seating area. Each location has their own plus and minus.

Yelp
Went here yesterday for dinner. I got a grilled veggie burrito, with black beans and rice inside. I would never get it again. It lacked flavor and freshness. I couldn't taste any spice. The grilled mushrooms were so soggy I picked them out (see pic). The drink station was so dirty too. On the plus side, I liked the salsas, the laid back atmosphere, outdoor seating, and the service was good.

Yelp
Nice place to have a quick bite right across from the Montage Hotel in Laguna Beach. This place offers tacos, burritos, quesadillas and many varieties of draft beers. Most popular items are salmon tacos, Carnita tacos and beef burritos. I got myself a couple of salmon tacos. They were very tasty. Even though I was hungry, but I felt the tacos were good. Service was excellent with the ordering process. Once I got my order, I find a table outside to enjoy the beach weather. When the food was ready, the waiter brought it out to me and it was quick. Prices are reasonable. Each taco costs around $5. For about $14, I got myself two tacos and an ice tea and a complimentary bag of chips. It was a satisfying lunch after a long morning on the beach. There are plenty of parking in the shopping mall.

Yelp
Great authentic Mexican food and margaritas, friendly and fast service and fun venue. Conveniently located in South Laguna.

Yelp
Sooo good! The burritos are amazing and the tacos are delicious too! Highly recommend the hard shell tacos. The chips are amazing and the atmosphere is great! Nice and casual and beachy. Super quick service and delicious mexican food!

Yelp
I've been going to La Sirena (the South Laguna location) for the last ~2 yrs, anywhere between 2-4 times per week - love the quality of the food and burritos. However, I give up when it comes to how skimpy and inconsistent their meat portions are with their burritos. I've raised this issue with them repeatedly, and the response is always the same, "we put double meat" (which I pay for), but since you don't ask for other fillings, the burritos are small. Honestly, this is such horse sh*t - I've grown up in CA and on Mexican food my whole life. There is not a more expensive taqueria that I can think of, and the portions are borderline insulting. You can order a burrito without asking for extra meat, and they'll serve you the exact same burrito - it's seriously unbelievable. I read other reviews to make sure I'm not going crazy, and quite a few other Yelpers have brought up the same issue. And I generally don't write reviews unless something is either a definite 5-star or something is completely off, where subjectivity is less of an issue. In short, while the food quality is fresh/good, to pay $17+ for a burrito ($20 when you factor in tax/tip) with extra meat, that's basically smaller than a regular burrito at all other taquerias, have nobody take responsibility or act as if they are not pinching loyal customers, and ask for tips (which I always give though I rarely dine in), I always leave feeling I like I've been ripped off.
google avatar

Joseph D.

Yelp
I seldom leave reviews, however, after seeing the 4 and 5 star reviews of La Sirena Grill and having experienced the quality of the food, I absolutely have to leave a note. I ordered Carne Asada, Pollo, and Carnitas tacos along with some mild salsa for the chips. The meat in all three was underwhelming and it looked like someone quite literally threw the meat and lettuce onto a tortilla from approximately 5 feet away, then folded it up. Each taco was bland, it tasted like I was eating nothing, and the salsa tasted like tomato paste. This is the sort of quality I expect from a Del Taco in Barstow. With so many options for Mexican food in Laguna Beach I don't see how this place stays in business.
google avatar

Terd F.

Yelp
The guy with the beard needs to drop the salsa nazi act, or the rest of the company needs to join him and get on the same page. Literally picked up my order after my friend. My friend got the aioli sauce and some salsas. Being the next one up, I said I'd like to try that aioli. Beard guy (who's always there) says, "sure but I'm gonna have to charge extra for that". Really? Is this guy for real? My friends who just got their order looked at me and said "no they don't" (charge extra for that). 1. Who charges extra for sauce? 2. How does one determine who gets them for free and who doesn't? It's not even about the money. I spent like $30 for a burrito and kid's quesadilla. It's about the principle and the beard dude needs to figure it out. Everyone else has been cool.

Yelp
Cute place to stop and grab a bite to eat. They have outdoor seating. Beers on tap and house made margaritas! It's right off PCH and parking is usually not a problem. The Carne asada burrito is my favorite. I usually add pico de gallo in it as well. The food always taste fresh and what I love about this place is how accommodating they are. If you want them to add something or not add something they will be happy to do it. Also, I love how generous they are with their sauces. The sauce cup is a nice size and even so I normally finish 2 for every burrito. If you want more sauce they will be happy to give them to you and won't charge you extra. The staff is always helpful and friendly. Great place to grab bite to eat!

Jake H.

Yelp
If you don't like seed oils and you still want to eat out, you can do it here. Went in at 7pm on a Wednesday night, told the guy on the register I didn't want any oils in my food, he recommended fish on a salad with no dressing and no crispy onions. I didn't know how I would feel about this, portion wise, flavor wise, etc... but it came in clutch that night after work. 5 star review. Fish was perfectly cooked, not dry. The avocado/ cucumber/tomato combo is so good. Also everybody is always super nice there
google avatar

Quincey H.

Yelp
I wasn't super hungry so I got the taquitos and it was the perfect thing. The toppings that came with it were great. One of my friends got the nachos which where also amazing.
google avatar

Remy H.

Yelp
Loved the fast service and casual atmosphere. All staff members were very friendly too. After we ordered, we were told the name for the order would be called by the pick up area. We were seated at a table on the other side while waiting. One of the staff members brought the ready orders around and asked each table what the name for their order was. Thought that was very considerate in case we didn't hear the names being called. The food was delicious too. Tacos were on the larger size (not like street tacos). Everything was reasonability priced as well!
google avatar

Lisa L.

Yelp
I really miss the Irvine location and rarely get to Laguna for my fix. Delicious salmon burritos and salads. Ordering online is really easy and convenient for quick pickup. What I love the most is the quality of the food from La Sirena. I don't think I have ever had a bad meal from this takeout restaurant.
google avatar

Sanjay S.

Yelp
If you are getting a to go order from here - check and double check your order before you leave. These guys are a bunch of thieves. They will charge you in full but will not give you all your items. They count on the fact that after you leave you won't come back to pick up the missing items. Absolute cheats at this location. Always double check.

Jenn s.

Yelp
Nothing short of incredible. The tacos, burritos, salsas and easy dining experience make this a no brainer. We always eat here twice on weekend trips or when just passing through town.

S B.

Yelp
What is going on?? Have been coming to and recommending La Sirena grill for a long time and have always loved the food, service and atmosphere. Well, no more. The food has changed, Less flavor, generic ingredients. The chips, which even asking for new ones, tasted and smelled like burnt oil. The cooking oil definitely needed to be changed. Really disappointed. Possibly new owners? Not sure, but won't be coming back.

Yelp
Tip:Order on app: Toast Take out app or online at lasienagrill.com, , can walk in and order, They no longer taking phone orders. But beware, long lines inside for walk ins! Service: David was a doll at handling the long lines and being friendly and quick! He suggested getting the Carne Asada Burrito "toasted" , which I complied and it was gorgeous! Thank you for offering water because it was such a hot day today. What did I order?: Carne Asada "Steak Burrito" with Cabbage, Black beans ( Your choice of pinto or black), rice, guacamole, Pico de gallo salsa. I added cilantro and Chopped onions at home. With every order you get home made chips and your choice of salsa. I choose , pico de gallo. After you order, they ask your number and you get a text when your order is ready. When its ready, go inside and pick up. If you want to consume your food here, there are outside patio tables on either side of the entry points. Find one and. enjoy your food. My order came out to $11.04 ( $10.25 for burrito, 0.79 for tax). I recommend La Siena Grill !! They have two locations, one in a old home that is transformed into a walk up stand in down town laguna, and this one on PCH across from Montage Beach Hotel in the same shopping center as CVS, Gelsons, and next door to my favorite Japanese spot Oh Fine Sushi!

Ed O.

Yelp
Great little spot across from The Montage on the PCH in South Laguna! With indoor/outdoor seating it's really nice to bring your pup to this great Mexican restaurant! Highly recommend the carne asada, blackened salmon, & the guacamole is a must. Always a great craft beer list on tap...

Yelp
So good ! Wish the meat wasn't so hard to chew and the magi tacos don't have much flavor in here just bath in pepper no flavor but good

Cookie C.

Yelp
Ok. I am done trying to like his place. Hit or miss is an understatement. It is a lazy restaurant, they have been resting on their laurels too long. Salads sit in a pool of dressing, Salmon tastes old, the BBQ chicken salad we ordered tonight was soggy and disgusting. The nachos had some weird spice you occasionally hit, and it made you nauseous like it was a bug or something . Have no idea, how this staple of the community survives, except on beer, margs and quesadillas and simple tacos. Too bad, because the community deserves better, and quality control is essential. Very bummed that again, a meal we could not eat.

M J.

Yelp
Very good! I like their salad and tacos and breakfast tacos. Cool vibes. We have been going here for years.
google avatar

Nica L.

Yelp
A great spot for a quick bite to eat. The food is always delicious and at a good price. There's a great selection of drinks as well! The staff is friendly and the vibes are super chill with a local feel. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
This place is so good the servers were nice the food came out quickly. The food quality it's great with generous portion sizes. Definitely a place we will come back to. Lastly their ambiance was welcoming clean with plenty of seating outside and inside.

Yelp
Just responding to a recent review by "Bobby C" regarding the daughter's experience in the restroom . The restrooms there are single occupancy with locks.

Yelp
You can imagine my anger when I ordered a burrito on Friday and found a rock inside it. Midway through lunch I bit into the burrito and my teeth felt a jolt of pain from biting into the rock. This stone could have easily chipped a tooth or even worse been swallowed. Thank goodness no damage was done. However when I reached out to La Sirena multiple times I received no response, no apology. This incident could have had major health risks and I get no acknowledgement from the shop...
google avatar

Sam T.

Yelp
I've only tried quesadillas consistently at this place and they are the best in OC. Some things which could be better: Tacos need more aioli (I've tried the fish and chicken tacos) Guac has a lot of tomatoes and not much salt The tortilla chips with entrees are different from the ones they give with nachos (not sure why), and the ones with nachos taste better
google avatar

Wendy C.

Yelp
Food is always Amazing and the servers are always friendly and kind. There was a slight mix up with my order and Miguel went above and beyond to make it right. So appreciated! Ten stars for the outstanding workers here!
google avatar

Laura K.

Yelp
My favorite item on the menu is the Salmon Tortas! I order it every single time. Unfortunately last Friday they ran out of salmon, so I ordered the steak enchiladas (meat was too chewy for my taste). However, this place has very flavorful sauces in each dish & I love their variety of salsas. It's super casual here & gets busy on a Friday night. Awesome margaritas! Great beer selection & lively bar scene, with laidback beach vibes. Seating indoors is limited & it gets cold at night by the beach on outdoor patio. They always have their doors open, so a warning to ladies that get cold easily to bring a sweater. Make sure to get a bag of chips & salsa with your meal (I think it's included). I ate in the restaurant last time & they served food in to-go containers... I didn't like that. Friendly staff & orders come out quick. Great lunch spot if you're in the area. I met my husband here, years ago, on a first date. Flip flops and beach attire are the norm.

Yelp
Stopped by for dinner with daughter. She's vegan so menus with a good, healthy variety is key. She ordered the veggie burrito and I had the carnitas nachos. Muy Rica!! The servings were generous. Homemade chips. Not a lot of seating. Maybe 4 or 5 small tables. A lot of folks were doing take out. We got lucky and grabbed a table on their patio. City parking lot is across the street, meters out front. We're visiting from LA and didn't realize how close it is to everything. We drove but should have walked because we were stuffed and had to walk around the village a bit. La Sirena is on my list for my next visit to LB.
