La Suite West Hotel London

This was a Virgin Experience and I was a worried due to some of the negative reviews. Honestly, we had a great stay and very much value for money. The staff were friendly and accommodating - we had no problems. The room was clean and a good size for London and the cost. Breakfast - lots to choose from. So, yes I would recommend this hotel.

Our stay at the West Hotel was absolutely perfect! The location couldn’t be better… just steps away from Hyde Park and two underground stations, making it super easy to get around London. |Right outside the hotel, there’s a lively street full of restaurants, pizzerias, supermarkets, and souvenir shops, so you’re surrounded by endless options and services.||The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, from the front desk to the breakfast team, always ready with a smile. |The rooms are small but very well designed, equipped with every comfort you could need. ||The bathrooms are brand new, and we especially loved having a Nespresso machine in the room – such a thoughtful touch!||Overall, this hotel is an excellent choice for anyone visiting London. We’ll definitely stay here again!

Hi everyone, we initially booked one reservation for 2 nights, and arrived the night before, we were greeted by a receptionist who was half asleep, not nice, and didn't know how to work. He charged us several times in our sleep. And sent us to a room in the basement of the hotel. When we saw the room, there was no air to breathe and it was impossible to sleep there. We went back up to the reception and wanted to cancel the reservation and after an argument he gave us a room on the reception floor for the extra night we had brought forward. We arrived at the reception the second morning to check in again for the new reservation, and again they wanted to put us in the basement, we didn't agree and the manager ended up giving us a room on the 3rd floor, which is normal!!! Now after 20 days of visiting London we found out that they charged us again for 25 pounds for a deposit that they said they wouldn't really charge us and it was just a deposit and of course they charged us. The whole behavior from our arrival until now is simply incomprehensible, charging for things that we don't understand. And I'm updating you that we were charged for an amount that we didn't close when booking on their website. But more. I recommend that you take into account that they could put you in the basement and that you will not be treated kindly. It is better to book another hotel and pay a little more.

We absolutely loved our stay at La Suite West- Hyde Park and will stay again when we return to London. It was in the perfect location for a family on a quiet street, a few minute walk to Hyde Park, and right next to two underground stations. We stayed in a jr. suite that was quite spacious, which I also appreciated. Highly recommend!

We had a four star experience. The staff, the breakfast and the location were fabulous. We were able to get to everything so easily either walking or by train. We would definitely stay again and it was one of the highlights of our six weeks in Europe.

London visit 11th July, on a sweltering day the extra air con units in rooms were very welcome. Nice clean and stylish room with superb all marble bathroom with good shower. Tv wasn't picking up a signal but was remedied very quickly by one of the team. When I arrived back from evening meal out there was a strange mechanical noise emmiting from the wardrobe again remedied fairly quickly and I was allocated another room after the night porters realised it the mystery noise wasn't going to stop any time soon. Breakfast was plentiful and very nice. I'll stay again.

Staff were extremely rude to myself and my partner when we stated that we were staying at the hotel using an experience voucher, almost looking down on us as if we couldn’t afford it (even though I had been the one to purchase the stay). Rooms were nice but the bathroom was tiny and you could either have the blackout shades down or windows completely exposed so little privacy during the daytime. The area was nice but mostly only fast food restaurants nearby.

Wonderful stay and lovely staff! My parents were celebrating their wedding anniversary, and I asked if the hotel could arrange a few decorations for them. They went above and beyond, leaving a beautiful surprise in their room that made their stay truly memorable. Would definitely recommend!

I dug the zen of this place and its proximity to two tube stations: Bayswater and Queensway. Getting to Heathrow from here is also pretty simple. If the feeling of being in a real neighbourhood matters and you place high importance on design, La Suite West's a good bet. The hotel's located among a row of Victorian town houses and there are plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance. The minimalist interior was done by acclaimed British designer Anouska Hempel. Rooms are compact, have a sparse Asian feel to them and feature Molton Brown amenities. The underfloor heating in the bathroom was especially nice to return to after a long, cold day in rainy London. If you can get a decent rate (under £150; like I did on designhotels dot com) I'd definitely suggest snapping up a room here. My only complaint? They need someone stationed at the door to help with luggage - I was assisted by two friendly blokes (guests?) but it clearly wasn't their job to carry my cases. PRO TIP: Address is on Inverness Terrace but the entrance to the hotel is on Inverness Place.

We are now day number two with no running hot water. The hotel staff doesn't tell you anything about what is happening; they don't warn you, you have to ask--and then you're told that their engineer is working on it. The hotel is noisy: you hear every bump, door close (slam), and people talking outside. This has been a nightmare of a vacation in London because of this horrible hotel. Avoid this place.

Coming from Portland and being a vegan I was so excited to stay at La Suite West a vegan hotel. I told everyone (all my vegan friends) My understanding was there were two vegan restaurants along with afternoon tea and breakfast. Sad to report, there is only one restaurant that is open for breakfast, no reservation needed, afternoon tea that you must have a reservation and lunch again, you need a reservation. Well, when your out being a tourist all day it's hard to make a lunch reservation. Saw that their hours were till 5pm, one day we came back at 440 to have an early dinner but were told their last table has to be sat at 430 (disappointing) asked front desk for recommendations for vegan restaurants and she didn't know. What?! I booked this hotel because I thought they were apart of the vegan community but no one I spoke with was vegan. The rooms were tight. Stains on the small sofa. Torn rugs. Scuff marks all over the white walls and one day as we were leaving our door knob fell off. Beds were comfortable if you like a firm mattress. The staff was lovely as they warmed up to us but at first not very friendly. Would I give it another go? Probably not. Location was great, short walk to underground and only blocks away from the park and lots going on. I feel for the price one could stay at a hotel that's better kept and maybe with more offerings like a hotel bar (after all, you are on vacation)

I needed a hotel in central London for work. A place to stay and do meetings. The images online looked great but on arriving it was as a massive disappointment. First, there is no lobby to speak of. With luggage it's hard to get through the front doors. No doorman. No assistance. The check in area is very small, the size you'd expect from a one star hotel. I asked what the street parking restrictions were and got three conflicting answers. I went out and checked the sign in front of the hotel myself. You'd think they would know that in reception right? Once checked in, you get to your room via some rather rickety elevators and narrow corridors. This isn't a place for the claustrophobic. It's feels like a rabbit warren. The rooms are small, clean but lack any character. It's all very corporate in an average way. The one thing that I loved was the bathroom. Simple but lovely with heated floors. The restaurant is seemingly never open. They do breakfast but it doesn't look great considering the high price of the food. Last, there is no bar or seating area in the hotel. The only place to sit outside your room and the mostly closed restaurant is a long narrow bench in reception. For over $250 a night this is a thoroughly underwhelming place. Bland, cramped, lacking facilities and character. It's one strep away from being a hostel. Go somewhere else.

Yet another London hotel that is big on style, and modest on substance. Paper thin walls, tiny spaces, and claustrophobic hallways are thankfully trumped by a delightful tub to soak away your jet lag. Beware the four poster bed, which attacked me -- right in the forehead -- when I got up in total darkness in the middle of the night. But the location can't be beat, and it's always better to camp out somewhere unique like La Suite West than to die a boring death in a corporate hotel.

I chose this hotel as I stayed in The Hempel a few years back and liked it very much. When living in London, Bayswater and Notting Hill was one of our most popular haunts, thus I was happy to find that there was yet another place Anouska Hempel did the interior design for, in the same area. We arrived late at night and were welcomed by a very nice receptionist, who informed us that we'd received an upgrade to a studio suite. Yupieeh, we thought, and followed one of the staff to our room. We did not take the lifts and seemed to be walking down, as in some lower ground area. Once we were in the room we realised that it was down below, as there was no window - well there was a window but it did not open as there was just a wall fronting it. The bed was a nice four poster, as featured in every room, and the bathroom was clean and cool, design-wise. The hotel is the exact opposite to The Hempel, with the latter being all white, and the Suite West all dark, blacks and dark blue. I went back to reception and asked for the room that we actually booked as I felt very claustrophobic in the no-window-cellar-place, with her being very understanding and promising to move us in the morning, as there was no room available that same night. The next day we were indeed moved to the room I booked, which was not quite what we expected. I prefer to pay a bit more for a few days to have some comfort, but this was close to shoe box size. You entered into the room with the bed taking up all the space of the room, and the bathroom being a small closet next to it. We had nowhere to place our luggage, and so we asked for yet another room, even if that meant to pay a surcharge. We ended up in a larger room with actual closet space and a bathroom one could move in. The minibar is completely empty apart from a bottle of complimentary mineral water, and the luxury bathroom amenities - in my reservation confirmation actually credited as being by a brand - were just some basic hotel soap/shower/shampoo. We did not try the restaurant which specialises in raw and vegan food only. There is not much seating in the lobby, although if you need to work on your laptop etc., one is allowed to do so in the restaurant and outside in front of the hotel, where it actually is nice to sit, and there is free WiFi. I really wanted to like this hotel, but it is much too expensive for what it is, however with some of the friendliest staff I have encountered. This hotel tries to live up to something it is not: a luxury property.

Superb hotel, my best in London so far. The restaurant is remarkable too, in terms of food, service, music selection.

This review is for the restaurant called RAW. The entrance is a bit tricky to find, it looks like you're going into a staff-only area. The staff were pleasant and the decor is very swank and modern. Clean and nice toilets. I went for the vegan afternoon tea as a special (and affordable!) treat. My partner and I had different pots of loose leaf teas throughout the meal which was a nice treat. It started with finger sandwiches which were good, if not a bit cold. Next were the scones and strawberries with coconut "cream". I felt the scones were pretty dry (while my British partner thought they were amazing), but we both agreed that the coconut cream was ick. I bowl of dense goo. Many people I know loved their coconut cream, maybe I had an off-batch? The best was for last in my sweet-teeth biased opinion. A selection of cakes and tarts and chocolate sauces and fruit and oh my this is what dessert is supposed to be! The dessert made up for any other previous misgivings. If you want to treat yourself to an afternoon tea- a special afternoon tea you know you won't just be a "special diet" annoyance and filled with overpriced cucumbers (aka: the devil's fruit)- definitely check out RAW. I will definitely be going back again.

Pretty good for my first stay in London. Had a Jr suite w/ plenty of windows for natural light and a small sofa. The tV came out of the foot of the bed which is pretty cool and compared to other destinations in the UK there was a decent amount of space. Carpet was a little funny n may hurt your feet initially. Hallways are incredibly narrow and dimly lit as is the elevator and pretty easy to get lost in what seems like a maze (you're screwed if you're drunk because yea)‍. All the front desk staff that we encountered were great and they even loaned us an umbrella on a rainy day. The food offered in their dine in spot was overpriced and not much for a broad selection (especially considering that there's a ton of places within a 2 block radius). Did have a coffee pot and a mini fridge which was helpful. Location was the biggest plus: A two minute walk from the nearest train stop and 4 minutes from another train line (main mode of transportation). Plenty of Shopping AND dining within a 5 minute walk. Everything from chain restaurants to vintage stores and many places to grab cheap souvenirs from. I'll be staying there next time!

Went for a meal at RAW, the vegan raw restaurant at this hotel. It was a disaster from start to finish. A fawlty towers experience for sure! The waiter had the loudest phone in his pocket which kept ringing and he kept answering! Even while he was taking our order! He was taking calls from the rooms who were calling for room service! Talk about cost cutting! All guests walk past the restaurant on their way to their rooms. One female receptionist kept walking back and forth while VERY loudly clicking her high heels. The music was inappropriate and very annoying. As for the food, it was a complete disaster. We ordered six different dishes and each one was terrible. No seasoning, no flavour. It is not a RAW restaurant, it simply has some raw dishes on the menu. Most people could do better at home with a good raw food cookbook. All in all, very amateur and not good enough. In fact, considering the service and setup I'd call it diabolical! A waste of time and money.
