La Taberna del Chef del Mar

Wow. If you like seafood this is where it’s at! Raw oysters and scallops are perfect. Living in El Puerto now, I’ve tried almost everything on the menu, and it is creative and curated with a local focus. The service staff is amazing. Miguel and Fernando hit the mark Everytime with superior service while sitting at the bar. One of the few places you can belly up to the bar and have a relaxing and informative experience. They are experts on the food and wine, Chef ensures they can educate you on the cuisine first hand, because they have all tasted the options. My favorite spot in El Puerto! Worth every penny. The food speaks for itself but the people make you feel seen and welcome!

Excellent food, quite expensive for southern Spain, but you are getting maybe some Aponiente dishes on the cheap: the sardine on rye crisp bread with aubergine tartare was particularly good. My main complaint would be their website which doesn’t mention the 8 bar seats are walk in (hence why I mark down service to 4 - service itself in restaurant is v good). Also, whilst I was there reserved tables remained empty for an hour plus so i am not sure the reservation system works that well overall. The lesson is ignore the website availability, call or just turn up at opening for the walk in seats.

I knew the food was going to be good, but it turned out to be truly exceptional! The flavors were unlike anything I've ever experienced before. The brioche and the flakes of dorada were my favorites among everything we tried—absolutely delicious! The dishes were very original, beautifully presented, and full of taste. The service was fantastic, especially Pilar and Montse, who made the experience even more special. I would give more than 5 stars if I could—definitely a must-visit!

Amazing place. Besides the superb quality and amazing flavours I also loved the detailed explanations provided with each culinary delicatessen. Great service too and fair price.

Very good food!! Try all the exotics like risotto with plankton, never had that one before. Gazpacho kroketas, scallops and so on. Gem in a slightly quiet town.

Solo date night dinner and La Taberna was spot on. I already knew what I wanted and the staff were patient with my lack of English and helped me navigate other dishes. I had the plankton risotto which was packed with flavour and not to be missed.

The fish and chips plate looked and tasted as a cheap kebab. A pity because starters were very good. Nice place but unfortunately the food was very disappointing. I do not understand how this place made it into Michelin’s list of restaurants. To avoid.

Angel is a three star Michelin chef so what would you expect from this restaurant? It's the little brother to his bigger restaurant around the corner but there is no little brother about the food or the service. In one word FANTASTIC...

We went to this bar after trying out a few other local bars the same night. We had eight folks in our group. We split the bill on some seafood. Sure its a bit pricy; the Chef has a Michelin star. Get the fish cooked by the Chef it costs $90. It's the best.
