Google
Sensational food and great service!! Two stars of the show were the mussels in white wine sauce and the red prawns in garlic sauce. The French toast dessert was also perfect. And the sea bass, which was cooked to absolute perfection. Everything was so good and the staff were so friendly and helpful.

Google
Highly recommend this place for a nice dinner. We took some tapas to share and one cooked meal and everything was delicious 10/10. We were on the 3rd floor, the inside is so nice and peaceful as you can see in the pictures. The staff is also really friendly and welcoming, not everyone speaks English though. I am not sure if you can get a table without reservation, but we were able to reserve a table the same day directly on their website!

Google
Place is a solid 10/10! We loved it so much, we went back twice during our stay – and honestly, we’d book a flight to Alicante just to eat there again. The food is absolutely outstanding, with every dish bursting with flavour and beautifully presented. The atmosphere is vibrant, and the quality speaks for itself. A must-visit spot if you’re in Alicante – we’re already dreaming of our next meal there!

Google
Food was well prepared and delicious! We didn’t have a reservation, but they were able to seat us at our choice of table or bar. Our server was pleasant and we had an enjoyable experience!

Google
Holy Moly! I had the tuna tartar and the goat cheese with honey. Devine!!!! Service was slow and expected. The food was top-notch! I asked for recommendations when I ordered each dish they were on point. It's expensive but worth it!! Michelin recommends, and I see why!! Even the complimentary olives and peanuts were outstanding.

Google
Beautiful food and service! Our second time coming back now and we can’t wait for the third! Quality food, fine detail and pride in their work both on the floor and in the kitchen!

Google
I really loved the taste of food and the staff were really friendly 😍 I just didn’t liked it that we had to pay 3e for the water bottle, I don’t know maybe it’s like this in Spain! The food was great anyway.

Google
We where a large group (+15) and got the whole top floor for our selves. We ordered the tapas tasting menu with the wine package @€99 pr person. Tomatoes (really amazing), cheese, ham, steak, baby squid, crackers, bread pudding where all on the menu along with other items. All in all a very well put together menu. The service from the staff was excellent.

Yelp
I came here alone, was seated in the front section at a high top with a beautiful view of the starlit bar. This would be a great spot for a date. I ordered the jamon and chorizo croquetas. The chorizo was different than any croqueta I've had, I would recommend trying it for this reason. I then ordered the arroz a la Banda seco. The rice was so crispy and delicious and the shrimp was small but flavorful. Finally I finished with the flan, which had an almost orange marmalade syrup finish on top. The whipped cream tasted more savory than sweet which I didn't mind. It was definitely homemade. Everything was delicious and the waiters were all so attentive and kind. Sometimes it can be awkward eating alone, but I felt at home here and would definitely come back. I made a reservation as it's a popular restaurant and Michelin recommended, but I saw people walk in with no issue as well. Thank you Pablo and Jimmy for the outstanding service !

Yelp
A nice atmosphere with excellent wine, delicious food, good music and service. We were basically looking for a good bottle of wine and we found it here.

Yelp
Excellent! I think this was the best paella and patatas bravas I had during my trip to Spain. I tried the chicken and seafood paella and they were both so good. The rice was perfectly cooked and they tasted quite different from one another, surprisingly. I also tried the chicken croquettes and cod fritter. Both were great. Service was very nice and ambiance was good. Recommend!

Yelp
We had a Paella and it was very rich, lots of seafood and a large quantity. The staff was getting slammed but was still humorous and attentive.

Yelp
Very busy restaurant and happy to get a table for 1 despite having no reservation. Ordered the house red wine and cam with some oil roasted Spanish peanuts and natural marcona almonds complimentary- delish. For my meal I had the asparagus and a veal entrecôte style. The food was excellent and the service was great though at a relaxed Spanish place vs the hurry up USA style. I will definitely come back as the menu is extensive with more than 100 items in total. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Great place to pop in and have some tapas and a glass of wine or beer. The prices are a little more than what you spend on regular bistro but you pay for quality more than quantity. Don't expect to quench your hunger with a couple of tapas as portions are small. But a great place to taste and people watch. Definitely a place to watch passerby shopping and families rushing to get to another place.

Yelp
Food here is SOLID. Just what you want in Spanish cuisine. I honestly don't know how my husband found this place, but I'm glad he did. It was just a few blocks from our hotel, and the reviews on Yelp were flawless. The restaurant looks small from the outside, but it is quite large. They have a bunch of cute bar seats at the front with the ham hocks in the background, but they have lots of other rooms available too. We ordered this anchovy open-faced sandwich tapa to start - wow! It was so good, and I don't even like anchovies. I think the quality was what made it fantastic. Next, we had the caraibernos shrimp, a large shrimp that breeds between Denia and Ibiza - this was a HUGE WOW!!!! We were addicted...seriously, we could eat these for entire meal. We are slightly allergic, with some hives after our meal (really not that bad, we were still breathing), but DAMN it was worth it. The best part is sucking out the juice from the head and the end - so flavorful, briny, and also sweet. Next we had this combination of a fried egg, potatoes, and iberico ham. Simple dish, but simply amazing!!!! I don't know why we can't have dishes like that in the USA. Our next shared dish was this small eggplant sandwich, toasted to perfection, a nice break from the meats, and delicious. Next, we ordered the steak - the meat was really great quality too. Lastly, we shared the squid ink and shrimp paella - loved it!!! I've learned that I'm not really a paella girl after all, but this one was quite good. This was a FANTASTIC meal, probably one of my favorites in Spain. You must come if you are in the area!

Yelp
This was my first stop in Alicante after a three day yoga retreat in Albir where EVERYTHING was vegan, as well as sugar and salt free. As my first meal back in the real world, it did not disappoint. The iberico cured ham was amazing and the oyster the freshest I've ever had - might have to stop by again for more oysters! The ham croquette was somewhat lacking in depth of flavor, but the manchego was delicious and a huge portion. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Super wonderful tapas bar and restaurant. Air air-conditioned and friendly staff Alfonso was our waiter and even helped us out with Spanish lessons. Everything was four-star wonderful menu selection. Local spot, so nice to be the only tourists in the restaurant. Visit the spot and you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Loved the food and service. Favorite dishes that we tried: garlic prawns, tuna tartar, artichokes, and croquettes. We devoured so much of the olive oil that we bought a bottle to bring home. Good food really makes a difference. It's one street over from the tourist traps. Worth the extra $. Update: So good that we came back again. This time we also tried the razor clams, sea urchin (I prefer what you get at a sushi restaurant), and creamy octopus and vegetable paella which was delicious!

Yelp
Making plans to come back here tomorrow! I took home the olive oil and it is still the best I have ever tasted! Loved the food!!! See you tomorrow!

Yelp
This is not a hype but definitely worth visiting just before flying back home. That's what we did after having the first meal in the city. We drove back from Valencia just in time to catch a quick bite before boarding back home! As it was Easter, the Easter dessert should be first mentioned! What a discovery!! Torrijas from here are the best!! Plenty nice salads, asparagus is a must! Not to mention the omelette!! Don't forget the Olive oil and the bread board!!

Yelp
As good as everyone says this place is. In the states, I'd probably give La Taberna del Gourmet a 4, but for the area this place is definitely as good as it gets. The service and food is the best we've had at a restaurant in Spain so far. La Taberna del Gourmet is the only restaurant we've been to in Spain that had a few staff that could speak fluent English and Spanish. For two, we were able to get a table without a reservation right away. The prices of the food here is not expensive as you may think considering the yelp rating of 3 euros (at least if you are from the US). We spent about $50 euros on two people and were pretty stuffed. We wanted to get the tasting menu, but unfortunately the kitchen would be closing up in an hour, so our waiter advised against it as we may not get all our food. Apparently, when it's time for the kitchen to close up, they are adamant about it (definitely very Spain-like). He advised that we order maybe half of the tapas menu. Instead we ended up just ordering what interested us and planned on sharing everything. My fiancé ordered: ***The aubergine (eggplant) small sandwich - flavorful and fresh, but small ***Toasted bread with tomato jelly and olive oil- tasted very fresh, but could've used some sort of seasoning. My least favorite dish of the night (although this seemed like a very popular tapa to have in Spain from what I saw at other restaurants). I've just never been a fan of eating fresh uncooked tomato. The fiancé wanted Langoustine, but unfortunately they were out. I ordered: ***Large entree of steak and garlic (with potatoes) - best thing of the night. Steak was cooked perfectly. Very tender and flavorful. Green onions paired well with the dish. Perfectly seasoned. Potatoes were good, but would've preferred if the seasoning were richer in fat (like with cheese used some sort of cream). The could've used a little more salt or herbs as well. ***Goat cheese topped in herbs with honey- I love goat cheese with honey, so I knew would like this. This is something that I could make at home, but they still executed it well here. The goat cheese was baked perfectly and the herbs tasted fresh; the honey used seemed high quality. ***Starter: Olive oil and bread with olives and Nuts- Just okay to me.Very simple. I had to add salt and pepper to the bread, so that it wouldn't be so bland. Olive oil was definitely top notch. I just wish there was balsamic vinegar or something else paired with the olive oil. Maybe this is a Spain thing, but I prefer things a little more seasoned ( a US thing maybe). I ended up using some of the bread as a base to put the goat cheese dip on. ***We ordered sangria as well and it was solid. Our server, Enrique, was great. Thankfully, he is probably one of the few people in the city who was able to speak English to us. He also gave us some recommendations on what else we should see in the region. Overall, La Taberna Gourmet is probably one the best restaurants in Alicante if you value both service and quality ingredients. The price is reasonable as well. The most expensive thing we had was our steak dish and that was fairly priced at 24 euros. Also, great if you want to experience authentic Spanish food and it's your first time. The ambiance is also very ideal for a date night as the interior looks more upscale than some of the other restaurants in Spain. Summary: Steak and garlic dish is a must have. Some staff can speak English. Great for beginners who want to experience authentic Spanish food. Very fresh ingredients. Walking distance from the major hotels. Would come back to eat here in a heartbeat.

Yelp
What a find! Thanks, Yelp. We recently toured around Spain and I think this place had one of my favorite dishes. The 65° Eggs were amazing. All the other food was excellent too. Good service as well!

Yelp
This is fancy tapas. Definitely lives up to the "Gourmet" in the name. Also, it's pricier than other tapas places, with an upscale, chic and trendy clientele. Alfonso Nieto Zamora was our server and bartender. As of our visit last week, he was a finalist in the "Best Bartender in Alicante" competition. Check out his gin and tonic--it's really special. He's a total pro. We really enjoyed the steak. It was super tender and flavorful. We figured it was from Argentina or Kobe, Japan. It turns out it was imported from USA (from Dakota, not North Dakota or South Dakota, just "Dakota"). I like Josh M's comment, "Have someone else pay." Unfortunately, I was that someone. But I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Yelp
I asked everyone around Alicante for a good place for tapas and wine.. They all pointed out to Taverna del Gourmet so we gave it a shot. To start off the place itself it's very cozy. The local wine selection is to die for, then we proceed to get some of the most amazing thin, cured Ox paired with some spicy chorizo and local cheeses. But by far the Black Paella with Octopus was AMAZING!!! At the end of the meal, our teeth and lips were black lol All worth it!!

Yelp
I can't remember having so much fun at dinner. A very popular and buzzy restaurant in the heart of Alicante. Definitely need a reservation, or you may be turned away. We went with the tasting menu (55€) with the wine pairings (20€). 7 courses and 5 wines later, we rolled out of the restaurant happy, and excited to return soon. Standout dishes were solomilo, pulpo, and miniature clams. The wine steward Raul was fantastic and told us about each wine and sherry. Super friendly and knowledgeable.

Yelp
Being Portuguese, typical Spanish tapas comes naturally to me. The place is an absolute gem, heading down there now for the second night in a row. My fiancé is a very fussy English eater ... She now loves Spanish food.

Yelp
We went to this restaurant because our client had recommended it to us. We had already been to another tapas restaurant which we loved. The first thing we notice was this tapas restaurant was trendy and the food is presented in a fantasy way. The food is really delicious, but it is a different type of tapas. The bartender makes interesting drinks to go along with your food. Also the price of the food is more than the other tapas restaurant we went to. We were told that the chef had a cooking show and there was a NY Times article about the chef hanging up in the restaurant.
