"Ah, Kaysersberg! This small village on the Alsace wine route comes into view between two valleys – you can't miss the iconic red façade of Hotel Le Chambard, which houses La Table d'Olivier Nasti, Meilleur Ouvrier de France 2007. The chef's objective is to showcase the terroir and restore tradition in a series of creative, visually arresting, even playful dishes. To this end, no ingredients are off limits: game, morels from the Vosges, foie gras, truffles and even Arctic char. He has created a personal menu that takes the seasons into account and pays particular attention to sauces and decoctions. As for the wine, talented and enthusiastic sommelier Jean-Baptiste Klein is a mine of information. The Chambard's guestrooms are decorated in a chic, refined style, and let's not forget the gorgeous spa." - Michelin Inspector

Ah, Olivier Nasti — a name spoken in hushed tones by Michelin pilgrims and gastronomic gatekeepers alike. Set in picturesque Kaysersberg, this two-starred temple promised a decadent journey through Alsace and beyond. What it delivered, however, was more polished performance than emotional punch. Let’s start with the venue:Undeniably beautiful. The space is a sophisticated blend of organic warmth and contemporary restraint — wooden elements from the surrounding Vosges forests set against minimalist furnishings that whisper discretion and taste. The setting evokes quiet luxury without overstating itself. Then came the service — clinically perfect, timed to the second, and choreographed with the precision of a Swiss watch commercial. But warm? No. Charming? Not quite. It felt more like being guided through a culinary museum than being welcomed to someone’s (very expensive) table. And for €500 per person, I would have appreciated a sparkle in the sommelier’s eye and perhaps a story or two about the cheese. Now, a small but glaring detail: water stains on the wine glasses. In any restaurant this would be a slip; at this level, it's a sin. At €1,000 per couple, I expect my stemware to glisten like the crystal dreams of a Reims heiress. As for the food — solid. Sometimes delightful. But rarely transcendent. The hors d’oeuvre were the undeniable stars: a clever, charming ode to Alsace with escargots, flammkueche, and miniature miracles of regional flair. If the rest of the menu had followed suit, I’d be raving. The eel? Silky and nuanced. The asparagus and fish? Both executed with poise. And the venison tartar was, frankly, divine — robust yet refined, the kind of dish that makes you forget you’re halfway through a 12-course marathon. But then the cracks began to show. The chicken dish arrived and tasted like something you'd find in a respectable countryside inn — not a culinary destination with global ambitions. And the strawberry dessert? Pleasant but uninspired, the sort of finale that says, “You've had enough magic — now here’s some fruit.” FINAL VERDICT:La Table d'Olivier Nasti is a well-oiled machine of regional grace and gastronomic technique. But soul? Surprise? Joy? They were missing. A beautiful evening, yes — but not a memorable one. And certainly not one that justifies €1,000 for two. Would I return? Perhaps. But not on my dime. And not with romantic illusions of Michelin fireworks. 🐻🍷🍓💸

Dining at La Table d’Olivier Nasti is not simply a meal, but a powerful narrative told through flavor, craftsmanship, and terroir. The L’Expression tasting menu is a masterful journey through Alsace, reimagined by a chef at the height of his creative power. The evening began with “Alsace in a few bites,” an elegant amuse-bouche trilogy that set the tone—pure, local, and exquisitely precise. Courses like “Green Style” Eel glazed with citrus fruit and French-style braised peas with Oscietre caviar showcased the chef’s balance between restraint and depth. The roe deer petals, a tribute to local hunts, and the Lake Geneva Féra with fish charcuterie were striking in originality and execution. Perhaps the most astonishing was the summer venison, accented with oyster brine and mousseron cream—an audacious, deeply umami dish that lingered long after the last bite. Desserts felt equally inspired: flamed Burlat cherry over embers and Saint-Riquier rhubarb with Tasmanian pepper brought acidity, smoke, and floral notes together in perfect harmony. From the wild herbs and forest mushrooms to the poetic use of rhubarb and cherry wood embers, Olivier Nasti doesn’t just cook Alsace—he expresses it with soul.

Best meal of our life (so far!) for my wife and I. Outstanding service right from the initial greeting. Beautiful space with only a handful of tables, with nice light from outside but it still felt very secluded and hidden. The food was simply amazing and included lots of creative flourishes. The wines recommended were perfectly suited to the food. We were laughing throughout the meal at just how incredible the food and service were. Expensive? Yes, very very expensive. But for a once-every-few years experience, no regrets about the price. We'll remember this one for a long time.

If you like your dining experience to be an art form, this is it. From start to finish this dining experience is a delight. We opted for the Expression menu, taking the 5 course meal. Although, it has to be said, that pre and post menu, we were given complimentary courses that way exceeded the 5 course set. A lot was provided to make this meal a 2 star Michelin that it so deserves. The outstanding welcome starts at the beginning of the experience when we approached Sarah. I have mentioned in the Le Chambard hotel review that Sarah is a delight. She ensured that the guest experience is stellar. We were brought to the lovely dining room that is tastefully executed. Every table was arranged in a manner that they are VIP tables. The service was wonderful with a rotation of warm and knowledgeable servers that explained each and every course. At one instance we were even given a look of fish being cooked infront of us in beeswax. It was fascinating to see the fish cook without heat but just the beeswax. Very memorable. Every single course was thoughtfully created. Olivier Nasti is an absolutely talented chef with a creative flair, to create Alsacian dishes with a modern twist. Most importantly of course everything was so delicious ;) At the end of the meal, Mr Nasti came out to meet all of his guests. That is such a special touch. Generally, in most Michelin starred restaurants, the chef does not. Or at best only greet the VIP. Like I said before, in this establishment, everyone are treated as VIP. That is what the hotel and restaurant does well. The importance of treating every guest as important. We were so glad that we stayed at the hotel as we were so full and happy that we were ready to sleep with our bellies full immediately lol. When we left Mrs Nasti bode us goodbye. Just such a wonderful, personal touch. We look forward to visiting this establishment again soon. Thank you to the whole team for the wonderful experience.
