LA TABLE de Joël Robuchon

"The restaurant’s name simply means “Joël Robuchon’s dining table”. The informal service melts into the elegant lavender-schemed dining room. True to Robuchon’s conviction that “cooking is an art form that begins with love”, the spirit of gourmet food is everywhere on display. The menu consists of simple, modern dishes and a series of specialities. A place to let time slip through your fingers." - Michelin Inspector

This is a Michelin star restaurant located in Ebisu, Japan that everyone should visit at least once in their life. This well-known world restaurant is famous for its creative fusion of classic French fine dining cuisines. It also provides guests with luxurious presentations and top-notch tasting feasts. We had the menu A course meal. Every dish was exceptional and stunning. The chef used lots of colorful flowers to make the food more luxurious and delicious. The full-color dishes with their fragrances were too beautiful to eat. You can experience the chef's exquisite skills and artistic aesthetics. Every dish is like a piece of artwork. Since it is a high-end restaurant. It is best to choose a special date like an anniversary for dining so that both parties will enjoy the day. By the way, this wasn’t my recent dining experience but a previous experience. I hope this helps for someone who wants a fancy dining experience.

Warmly welcomed by staff and well taken care of throughout the meal. Staff provided great wine recommendation and were attentive. Food was delicious & there was a lot of food…my only wish is that we could have slowed down just a bit between courses. Very impressed by this experience and will return!

Definitely worth every yen. Exactly the sort of experience, service, and food you would expect from a Michelin Star establishment. In particular the texture of every dish was incredible, going beyond the flavour of the food. Absolutely worth treating yourself if you're in Tokyo.

Probably one of the better value 2 star Michelin. Food was generally good. Really the best mash potato on earth and the other dishes was well made. Service staff could have been slightly better with the arrangements but their somm was top notch. Special shout out to him. Super friendly and treated us to some complimentary wines. Engaged with him in some blind tasting session as well. Good man. He even took the trouble to bring me to the wine shop downstairs.

As international tourists this restaurant was absolutely Stellar. Seeing many ingredients that are not readily available in our home country was outstanding in terms of exploring new flavours. The presentation was impeccable. The service on welcome and departure was top-notch. I would definitely visit here again. The restaurant was definitely up to standard compared to Other Joel Robuchon restaurants that I have tried other countries.

We were at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum for their latest exhibition when we saw a stunning French Château across from the museum. We took a look and discovered it houses 2 Joel Robuchon restaurants. La Table was fully booked that day. Our holiday plans were to sample only Japanese cuisine. But we decided to make a reservation for the following Monday and made the long commute back for lunch. It was the right decision. A very impressive Ikebana flower arrangement stands at the entrance of the restaurant. The waiter was amazing and very friendly. He guided us through the set lunch menu and helped select the food that suits our dietary constraints. He told us the La Table serves French casual dining, and they have a 3 Michelin star sister restaurant (Château Restaurant, Joel Robuchon) on the upper floor. The presentation of the food was a work of art, and the food, fresh and delicious. The waiter also took the time to explain each of the dishes that we were eating. The ambience of the restaurant was great with the tables well spread out. The service was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. There is also outdoor seating where you can bring your pets. The chef can even prepare a tasting menu for your pet. Do note that the restaurant requests that men wear a collared shirt.

Amazing experience. From the second we entered, the staff were so kind, attentive and thoughtful. They spoke some french with us, and were kind enough to take a photo and print two copies of it so we can keep it as a memory. The food was outstanding, served on time and decorated to perfection. The anniversary cake surprise was great, and they were kind enough to pack it for us to take home. Can't wait to visit again!

Yelp
What I want to share with you this time is a Michelin 2-star restaurant located in Ebisu, Japan. Joël Robuchon is a French chef and restaurant. His restaurant is famous for its creative fusion of classic French high-end cuisine and provides guests with luxurious presentations and top-notch tasting feasts. The interior decoration of the restaurant is mainly gray-silver, white, and purple creating a noble and modern visual taste. Originally we planned to wait until my husband's birthday in November. But since we recently became sick and missed a big trip, we decided to go to this restaurant sooner rather than later. Today both of us had the menu A. My husband had the crab, scallops, lamb, and wagyu beef ( + ¥3500 ) with a draft beer and chocolate dessert. I had ham, scallop soup, fish, lamb, and the chef's special dessert with a bottle of sparkling water. My favorite dish was the ham appetizer and the fish main course. We were surprised by our scallop soup because we were not expecting it to be a soup. My husband liked the Wagyu beef main course the best. It was the best he ever had. We also loved our dessert. The complementary bread is good and plentiful. The bread came directly from the oven so it was very fresh and hot. In conclusion, the food was great with excellent service. Also, the staff is very professional and attentive. It was very delightful and it was like experiencing a feast of exquisite food and art at the same time. We highly recommend it.

Yelp
My GF and I had lunch here a few days ago at noon on March 1st. We had to catch the Shinkansen to Osaka right after so we were carrying a ton of luggage with us. Bit awkward for us to stumble in like that, but at least we were dressed appropriately (jacket & dress shirt required for men) and the staff was very accommodating and understanding. The restaurant is inside a very quaint (my GF says "cute!) building at Yebisu Garden Place which I happened to take a photo of (see attached). I was more impressed by the decor inside of the actual restaurant and I wish I had taken photos of that. There was purple everywhere! and I half-expected an orchestral version of "Purple Rain" to play in the background. Overall, gorgeous venue and super-memorable. Our server was fluent in English, French, and Japanese. He was very personable and had a great sense of humor. Most importantly, he was exceptionally patient and flexible as my GF threw a few curveballs as she tends to do. I had prepaid for Menu C (great value for 8,000 yen per person) which didn't go according to plan as she immediately started asking for additions. The Menu C turned into a Menu B plus a handful of other supplemental items which naturally raised the final total significantly. It's okay, we're on vacation and I still love her... So anyway, 5 stars for the service. As for the food, I feel like I don't need to say much about it here. This is Robuchon we're talking about. He is the epitome of fine French cuisine and the meal did not disappoint. Best duck confit I've ever tasted and my GF's wagyu (one of those extras I mentioned) was absolutely perfect. Definitely worth a quick stop! Couldn't have been longer than 2 hours because we made it to Tokyo station to catch our 3:37pm train with plenty of time to spare.

Yelp
I was reluctant to go to Joel Robuchon since they were the only 3 michelin star restaurants in Tokyo that still had reservations available a week ahead of the actual date. The price tag was also very hefty for a non-Japanese meal and I wasn't sure if I wanted to splurge on French food while in Tokyo. However, I was very happy with the visit and really enjoyed the restaurant. The restaurant is decidedly very French, even though all the workers were Japanese. The decor, the food, and the vibe all remind me very much of Paris. We did the tasting menu. The price came to a little over $500 USD per person after service charge. The food was great and plentiful. We struggled to continue eating at the end since we were very full. The bread cart is amazing but since our eyes were bigger than our stomach, we overdid it slightly on bread. The dessert cart was really amazing. Well, I should say dessert carts as there were 2. I would recommend saving a little bit of room for the desserts as the selection was huge and everything tasted wonderful. The service was good. The staff was professional. The bartender had a little bit of a language barrier on the night that we went but the other servers spoke English well and had been working at the restaurant for a very long time.

Yelp
Our itinerary in Tokyo included a visit to this Michelin starred (**) restaurant which we were looking forward to with much expectation. Nestled in a french chateau in the Yebisu Garden, it was the perfect location for a french fine dining experience. The staff greeted us warmly at the door. They were all impeccably dressed. Entering the dining room the lilac interior stood out remarkably. The front of house staff was attired to match with lilac collars. Each table was adorned with a purple orchard which added a nice pop of colour. Ceiling has a grand chandelier giving it a very lavish feel. We were offered water after being seated. Menus were presented. There were different lunch 'packages' where you can either opt for a simple lunch or go all out and treat yourself to the 8 course meals (menu du jour) Lunch packages starts from ¥3,300 to ¥9000, which is between $50.00 to $128.00 AUD (depending on exchange rates). We both went for the menu a prix fixe (available on weekdays only) choosing the mid-range option. Being more of a savoury person, I chose three entrees for starters (I know, what a pig!). My friend opt for three desserts instead being more partial to sweets. Both options attracted an extra cost of ¥2,600. My entrees consisted of chopped salmon in a creamy sauce, pork & duck liver terrine with a seasonal salad and sea urchin in a crystal jelly was all superb! My friend's entrees included white asparagus in a cream dressing and the roasted eggplant served with seasonal vegetables. Both was delicious. Our mains on the other hand was reasonably average. My fish in a green tapanade was nice, but no wow factor. It was light, but beige. My friend had the pork and natural jus which when tried by moi was stringy and off putting. All our meals was well presented, albeit a tad old fashioned in style. Different bread from their own bakery was served throughout our meals. Desserts was lovely, both of us had the ganache, but my friend's two additional desserts included strawberries served on an almond biscuit and the candied kumquat with the honey mousse. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Whether this establishment deserved two Michelin stars, I'm unconvinced. Personally, I think we are rather spoilt for choice in Australia, so, naturally, I would compare my fine dining experience in Australia to that of Joel's and I must say that they are on par if not better in some instances. I will let you be the judge as I highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys decadent dining for a very affordable price.

Yelp
I love Paris. I'm in love with Paris. I wanted to visit one of the Robuchon restaurants while I was in Tokyo as there's no Robuchon restaurants in Los Angeles. I was going to visit the main dining room, but the same one exists in Paris. I wanted something different, something I could only experience in Tokyo. So, I decided to visit La Table which is only one in the world. Not in Paris, but in Tokyo. La Table also has two Michelin stars. The building looked like a French château. When you walked into the entrance, there was a large coat check area separated from the restaurant. The staff asked us very politely if they could take our coats. The reception/coat check area was beautiful. One of the staff escorted us to the dining area and brought us to our reserved table. Our server came and greeted us. After a small conversation, the menu was explained. He asked if there were any diet restrictions, and I politely stated my request (no meat), and was told that the chef would gladly accommodate it. It was a six course meal including a dessert. The first dish was sea urchin jelly and fennel cream laying on the top. From the first scoop, I became speechless. This was one of the very few dishes I would never forget. Very fresh Uni flavor and very creamy fennel cream was complimenting each other. The server told me that the chef used a tiny drop of soy sauce for the dish, and he only uses the ingredient for dishes he serves in Tokyo. I usually can tell most of ingredients used, but I could not tell there was even a drop of soy sauce used for this dish. The texture was perfect, especially when the jelly and fennel cream were enjoyed at the same time; I could only say that this was true divine. The second dish was Capellini pasta on shrimp carpaccio, and caviar and a little piece of 24K gold were placed on the top. Delicious and delicate. The third one was duck foie gras, so they substituted with a pie with shrimp paste for me (you can still see a photo of the foie gras). The next dish was scallop and its mousse with citrus sauce. This was well crafted; the sauce had a subtle citric flavor and it was perfectly matched with the scallop mousse. Delicious. The main was roasted wagyu, so they changed it to salmon for me. The salmon was very fresh and had a sashimi quality. I really enjoyed the salmon with my glass of Sauvignon blanc. There were two different palate cleansers. One was muscat grape jelly with grape sorbet, and the other one was caramel cream but not heavy at all. They served Mont Blanc for a dessert. I usually do not like Mont Blanc except Angelina's in Paris, but this was the second best mont blanc, and the texture, sweetness, portion, and presentation, everything was just impeccable. The food, ambience, and presentation were superb. The service was exceptional and very professional. Absolutely 5 stars.

Yelp
My bf and I had the pleasure of dining here during our stay in Tokyo. We were excited to try la table since it is the only one in the world. A well-known chef also told me the best French food he had was in Tokyo, not France, so we were really looking forward to our dinner here. The first server who greeted us was very timid and nervous as he immediately knew we didn't speak much Japanese. He looked annoyed. We then got a new server called Ando who was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, courteous, well-spoken and fluent in English. Ask for him! Every time I looked around the dining room for Ando whenever we had a question or needed his service, he would appear promptly.. like within seconds. Very impressive. The support staff was also very helpful and recommended other michelin starred restaurants for us to try during our stay. The most impressive aspect during our dining experience was the timing of the courses. We got the degustation which consists of the amuse bouche, three courses, pre dessert, and dessert. Depending on the guest and the type of dining experience they like, whether they like taking their time or not, you need to be able to read each guest correctly. We are fast diners and we were starving so we devoured each dish, and the next course appeared within 2 minutes after finishing our last. AMAZING!! We finished our dinner in 1.5 hours while I expected it to take about 3+ hours. Food: 3/5 stars. My favorite course was the lobster dish. Tasted like pure butter melting in your mouth- super smooth, creamy, and most importantly not too chewy. Unfortunately, the fries were too thin and crispy to the point that it was hard. The rest of the courses didn't really wow me. It was about $250 USD for one person after service charge, tax, drinks, which is totally affordable and literally half the price compared to Joel Robuchon. The last impression of the restaurant is Ando going above and beyond and leaving the dining room to personally hail us a cab. Then he stood next to our cab the entire time in case we had any language barrier issues or problems communicating with the driver. Then gave us a very warm good-bye and bow until we were no longer in sight. WOWWWWWWWW Overall: The food was just okay-good, but the impeccable service made up for it. Still highly recommend la table as it was a meal and experience of a lifetime. Will be back!

Yelp
5 stars. The best meal of my life so far, with impeccable service and no language barrier concerns at all. My Japanese is OK but not fluent, so I fell back to using English with no problems. You walk up to the building... it's like someone air-dropped a chateau in the middle of Tokyo. Inside, the decor is a bit dark, focusing your gaze on your companion and the food. As usual in Tokyo, people watching here is interesting as well. Observing the other guests around us, we noticed: a well-off family enjoying a meal together (I doubt I would take my kids to a place as expensive), business acquaintances meeting after work, a solo business man with a woman more than a few years younger... and then a random couple, us, from out of town. Everyone fairly well dressed in suits and dresses. The atmosphere is really quiet, so you end up trying not to talk too loud. We tried one of the more modestly priced tasting options, and everything was excellent. I have to say I experienced new tastes and in ways that were creative and beautiful presentation-wise. I had mentioned we were celebrating my wife's birthday, so they brought out a dessert with Happy Birthday written in French which was a nice touch. Definitely check out this 2 Michelin star restaurant if you have time in Tokyo.

Yelp
A one time EXPENSIVE $$$$$ experience. The service was phenomenal. I booked the reservation months in advance and they told me I had the last table. We were there for 3 hours going through our 8 course meal and the place was at most half full for about an hour. Great atmosphere and good taste to all the dishes. The beef was extraordinarily; I've heard about beef that melts in your mouth but never experienced it until now. The fish was moist and flavorful. The caviar was neither salty nor fishy but spot on. Honestly I would have given it 5 stars if my check was half the amount it was. Take in consideration I had water the entire time and my date had 1 glass of champagne. Drum roll please.... ¥97,400. Yes?!

Eric T.

Yelp
Some of the dishes were excellent and prepared perfectly. However, our main course, spaghetti in Uni, was a disaster. The pasta tasted like the boxed ones bought from a supermarket. The Uni mostly melted and became watery. The dish looks like a pile of soggy noodles drowning in a pool of yellowish sewer water. And I can barely taste any of the uni flavor. Mr. Robuchon needs to have much better quality control in his establishments. I first went to Jamin in 1983 when it was a one star restaurant, and it is still the best meal in my life. I have since been to many of his newer creations globally and they were all worthy of the Robuchon name. This one is Tokyo is definitely not one of them.

Yelp
Price was 3 Michelin stars -- not the food :( We were pretty disappointed... This was the second Michelin star restaurant we have tried in Tokyo. The first was one start and it was even more disappointing (Le Bourguignon). So we decided to try a 3-star before we moved out of Japan. It was about 8 to 9 courses - 2 before appetizers, 2 appetizers, one main, cheese cart, then 3 desserts served with coffee. A couple of the courses were pretty amazing but most of the meal was meh. I was very surprised how loud the place was. Ambiance was very important in my opinion. Customers did not even try to speak in a lower voice. Four trolleys were being pushed around the restaurant for guests to pick out what they -- Bread, cheese, dessert, petite four -- we were joking it reminded us of loud Hong Kong dim sum restaurants with dim sum carts being pushed around (I am not trying to compare robuchon to a dim sum restaurant -- it was just a joke). Service was amazing and they gave us a loaf of bread to take home with us. We paid over 60,000 yen with one drink each. To us it just was not money well spent. We don't regret going though, at least we got to try the most famous Michelin star restaurant in Tokyo before we leave.

Martin L.

Yelp
Just for the English speaking, Le Table would be 5 Stars in most cities in the world. To have discovered it in Tokyo was a totally unexpected surprise. Bring your credit card and enjoy a beautifully prepared meal, professionally served in an magnificent chateau.

Yelp
I came here last week with my wife and had the menu dégustation. Including wine and a pre-dinner apéritif , we paid just over 60,000yen, so basically $300 each. For that price you expect spectacular, and some of the courses indeed were just that. My second course (of nine) was one of the most impressive things I've ever eaten. Unfortunately the remaining 7 courses didn't quite make it to those heights. While every course was delicious and beautifully presented, there was a little something lacking, and we didn't find ourselves saying 'wow' as much as we had hoped. Maybe that 2nd course was just too good, and things could only go downhill from there. I would say this place deserves 1 Michelin star rather than the 2 that it currently possesses. It is an excellent restaurant, with exemplary service. but not necessarily great value (though I was impressed that the mark-up on the wines was not as vast as at some similar restaurants). Overall, I would recommend, but don't go in anticipation of having the best meal of your life, because you probably won't. I am yet to try the 3 star restaurant upstairs.
