We had dinner here as a couple, choosing the TERROIR GOURMAND menu. Dogs are welcome at the restaurant, and our little dog was immediately offered a bowl of water – a big plus.
Among the highlights, definitely the quality and taste of the food, and the kindness of the entire staff.
Unfortunately, courtesy alone is not enough, and there were a few aspects of the experience and service that could be improved. Some dishes (starter and main course) were not described when served. The wine service was inconsistent: if the bottle isn’t left on the table, staff should monitor and refill glasses whenever needed. Guests shouldn’t be asked every time whether they want more wine.
We were offered a doggie bag for the main course we didn’t finish – much appreciated – but it was then left on the table for the rest of the meal. It would be better to keep it aside and hand it over at the end of dinner.
When we were leaving, the staff’s impatience at having to wait for us was quite noticeable. If the place needs to close, there are polite ways to let customers know, such as bringing the bill. It doesn’t make sense to wait and then show a rushed, cold (compared to the rest of the evening), and almost annoyed attitude.
The food is excellent, and with a few tweaks to the service, the experience could be perfect.
EDIT after the restaurant reply:
1. It's normal in every fine restaurant to have the bottle away from the table, not only in France. What is NOT normal is asking every time "do you want more wine?". Just fill the glasses.
2. Just keep the doggie bag away from the table until the end of the meal. Hot or cold it does not matter. It's not elegant to have a doggie bag on the table while you are still serving the courses.
