La Tapatia Market

Eh was alright. I went there on my lunch brake today, ordered a carne asada burrito, ask for no lettuce, after I heard the ladys tell him for several times, he still put it inside. Next the asada wasnt even hot. It was room temp. It had a lot of tortilla in both ends of the burrito, enough for me not to finish it, the asada also didnt have a lot of flavor.. so the only reason 3 stars is because I have had worse.

Where the LOCALS shop for hispanic foods and go for delicious Mexican Food. It is a market and a restaurant. There is a small RESTAURANT inside, in the back of the store with 4 small tables. You can eat there or take your food to go. 🍴 They serve tacos, burritos, quesadillas, tortas(sandwiches), nachos, and soups. 🌮🌯🥩🍲 The market has many Mexican products and pan dulces. It is a little small and an older building. There was a bit of a wait for the food, but if you know what you want ahead of time, you can also call in an order to pick-up.

I had pozole and birria de Chivo. The pozole I give it a 10 out of 10, very delicious. The birria de chivo I give it a 2 (1=very bad, 10=very good)

I live in a predominantly Mexican community, I travel to Mexico often. I don't think I have ever felt more out of place not speaking Spanish than at this store. The person behind the meat counter seemed really annoyed that I couldn't speak Spanish. I am sure that this man could have just been having a bad day, but I will not be returning.

Can’t believe it took us so long to start getting groceries here. They have the best rice we’ve ever had, and we love to buy their meat and even prepared meals such as burritos. The produce is very fresh. Highly recommend anything here

Quaint, little Mom & Pop grocery specifically dedicated to Spanish cuisine! Friendly employees.

This is a good market that has many choices that are great!. The problem is the consistancy of the same foods offered changes. We bought huge bbq beef ribs from outside cook that were incredible. I went back several times to buy them again. However, one time there wasn't any outside bbq offered and the next time he was only cooking baby back ribs which were not as tasty as those initial beef ribs.

It's one of the best Mexican grocery stores out there!

Cubanos = GIANT and crazy satisfying! I had the pork burrito with rice, sour cream, and lettuce--so dang good I'm already dreaming about my next one. The kitchen's tucked in the back of the market. There are a few tables if you wanna chill. But hey, if you're picky about eating in, just grab it to go and feast wherever. Either way, your taste buds will thank you!

Solid spot. Portions could be a little bigger. But the food is fresh and tasty. Bottomless chips and a salsa bar. Most dinner plates come with guacamole so don't get any on the side. The kids plate is a bargain and was a hit with our picky 9 year old. They staff is super friendly and reminded us about the infinite chips. Clean restrooms too!

The food was terrible. The quality of the food was the biggest factor for my recommendation. The area was not clean where they make the food and the food itself was not fresh. There was food everywhere left out and old. The taste was dry, over salted and no real taste. They were also out of 80% of the menu, and meat in general. I ordered a dish that was priced high, because of nothing available, they gave me a lesser of value of a dish that tasted terrible, with not money refunded for the more expensive dish I paid for. Truly disappointed in this place.

If you are not Mexican do not shop here. They will more speak to you or assist. They have now started to hide the food at the taqueria area so you can not see what they have. This way they do not have to help you. I have tried to shop here to support my neighborhood market. I will never shop here again Go to Zapata. Great food and great service.

Feo servicio! Toman su tiempo preparado el comida. Hoy estuve esperando casi 40 minutos para unos quesadillas! Las dos señoras platique y platique con el cocinero! Esto no es la primeria ves que pasa.. Nunca regresó.

The customer service here is non existent until you get to the cashier and even then it's minimal. The manager Carolina has no appreciation or respect for the customers that pay her salary. The store is very dirty and grime has built up everywhere you look (see photos). The items are a little higher price than Safeway which is disappointing because everything is worse and more expensive here. Their produce is pretty low stocked and have the worst produce when it comes to freshness than any of the other Mexican Markets in Napa. I try to avoid this place at any cost but sometimes my family craves their sweet Mexican bread and theirs is really good. This place does a disservice to its main clientele which is Hispanic customers. Do they think we don't deserve to shop in a nice, clean, quality grocery store. El servicio al cliente aquí no existe hasta que llegue al cajero e incluso entonces es mínimo. El gerente Carolina no aprecia ni respeta a los clientes que pagan su salario. La tienda está muy sucia y la suciedad se ha acumulado en todas partes (ver fotos). Los artículos tienen un precio un poco más alto que Safeway, lo cual es decepcionante porque aquí todo es peor y más caro. Su producción es bastante baja y tiene la peor producción en cuanto a frescura que cualquiera de los otros mercados mexicanos en Napa. Intento evitar este lugar a toda costa, pero a veces mi familia anhela su dulce pan mexicano y el suyo es realmente bueno. Este lugar perjudica a su clientela principal, que son los clientes hispanos. ¿Creen que no merecemos comprar en un supermercado agradable, limpio y de calidad?

Elevated prices on Basics. They charge $6.20 for 24 pack of water. A lot of other items are ridiculously priced with no consideration of market values. Shame on them for taking advantage of the surrounding community

What ever you do don't order al pastor burritos. They were inedible. They were EXTREMELY salty. I took one bite and spit it out right away. Who ever the manager is needs to have a word with the cooks. This is unacceptable. This situation has to be felt with, if not I will make a complaint to the health department.

Running out of toothpaste is never a good thing & especially when you're on staycation & not really wanting to have to actually *drive* somewhere to get that minty fix. Well, luck shined down when we were walking back to our B&B & randomly took a back road from our music event.....there was La Tapatia Market. It was still open & had just what we needed & if that's not the very definition of A-OK, I don't know what is And seeing they also serve up burritos, a return trip will be definitely in order!

Stopped in and picked up breakfast burritos with chorizo. Service was prompt and the wait was probably about 5 minutes. Friendly people do not speak English very well so if that is a problem for you just deal with it. Burritos were fantastic

I work just a couple of blocks away at the Riverfront, so when I realized how close this place is, I had to check it out. Even if it's just a place to grab a soda, I figured, it's worth seeing. Once inside, I realized it's not just a corner store, but a full-out grocery store, complete with butcher and bakery! There is also a counter to order hot food from, so I tried the Super Burrito with Asada. I checked out with my card (slight delay at the deli counter because someone was tying up the phone lines, but the attendant walked me to the front checkout and I was done right away) and walked back to work. Yum! I was surprised at how good it was! The burrito was enormous, a total gut-bomb, so I could only eat half, but I was impressed. One or two bites had slightly fatty meat, so I took off a star for that, but I will totally be going back!

Basura. Garbage. Looks ok. But not really sanitary. You walk in, typical mexican market. Towards back of store they have a taqueria. Waited about 15 mins to be greated by anyone,and there was no one in line. Finally cook took order. Started ringing me up, den a lady walks up and takes over. The male cook turns around (after he touched the cash register) and continues to cook. No gloves, never saw him wash hands. I should of walked out at that point. But I was starving. Finally sat down. Was given old stale chips with no salsa to snack on. Ate one slice of my quesadilla and couldn't continue. Looking around, tables surrounding me were dirty and unatended. For sure not recommended. Located on the ghetto riverside part of town. "Lavense la manos pinches cocineros"

I have three words for you, friends: Al pastor burrito. Al pastor burrito. Al pastor burrito. ZOMG. The al pastor at La Tapatia is so good that I dream about it. I live in Oakland, and work near La Tapatia and often have a difficult time not stopping in for lunch every day of the week. Their prices are extra resonable-- $4.30 for a "regular" size burrito which I should really only eat half of. Plus, the dudes behind the counter are always super nice and throw my order together really fast. So do it. Eat at La Tapatia. Thank me later.

**Review is for taqueria only.** Extremely fresh. Some of the best carne asada I have had in california and that includes fru fru mexican restaurants as well. It's not fancy, it's a grocery store...don't let that stop you. The food/meat quality is excellent. Had a carne asada quesadilla. Portion was huge (enough for two) and was delicious. Price was right as well.

DO not order food here. Had a really bad experience with the cook for making me feel uncomfortable while ordering...

A little upset that we showed up two hours before the kitchen closed and they are all out of carne asada!Really they just cooked some and the trays are full besides the carniceria is just next door, they offered carnitas and all the day old food that we don't like or eat pork.

Great place. The vegetable department puts any major grocery store to shame with quality and low prices. If you're cooking Mexican, it's a no brainer. I sometimes go over to Sta Rosa to Lola's but more and more I'm finding everything I want at La Tapatia. The butcher is good and the prepared foods can be great. Ask what's good and get it. The Al Pastor isn't the real thing with a spit and pineapple but everything else is pretty good, if not great. La Morenita probably has a lot more selection but it's a real hassle to get in and out and the store is a zoo, which can be fun. This place is nice, the staff is pleasant and the parking lot is never full.

A great market if your in a pinch and can adjust your ingredients to what they have stocked. I go here a lot though actually, and can usually buy dinner for under $8 for two people. Lots of well priced poultry and harder to find cuts of beef and pork. The produce is usually good and they stock lots of brand, packaged foods. A little over priced but convenient. Wish they catered a little more to some gourmet goods but there are plenty of places to get that sort of thing. Where they shine is probably on their prepared foods, some of the best burritos in Napa. They also bake fresh bread daily, which is another of what makes then great. Also a friendly staff, most whom speak english.

I just want to say that my review is for the Taqueria only. I have a love hate relationship with this place I mean the food is really good for the price but omg is the customer service terrible! Half the time when you walk up to them they ignore that you even exist and just continue doing whatever they were doing which is super annoying when like myself you are on a short time schedule. I mean if you don't have anywhere to be then I guess that's okay but for myself I usually run over there for lunch and I'm talking about spending about 30 minutes plus here in order to get your meal. Don't get me wrong I'm not like this pushy, snappy person but it is quite frustrating when I go in there and am constantly being ignored as if I'm not worth their time. I mean I have literally had to ask for help about 2 or 3 times after standing there for over 5 minutes and then of course you get the typical eye roll from these workers who have no interest in keeping their customers happy. I still find myself going here because the food is actually good and the place looks clean enough but it would be nice to go in there and have a nice experience with their staff.

Ordered tacos and a burrito from DoorDash and the food I received was so spicy that it burnt my lips. This whole dinner was unenjoyable and frankly dangerous. Will not order here again

Love the food but so sick of the b*tchy attitude at the food court. I stood there ready to order and the chubby pale mexican girl just checked her phone and walked away without noticing me, so i walked out.

This is probably the closest Mexican store near me. Buuutt after today I will no longer be shopping there for anything. I keep trying to go back making excuses for the bad customer service. Today was truly the last I will be taking. I went to buy my family some food not only was the lady taking my order in a bad mood (like she's been the past few times) but she would use any opportunity to make me feel stupid. She also judged my order and suggested something els because that something els would be better. When the gave me the receipt she tossed it on the counter as well was the food when it was ready.

I've been going to the Vallejo location for years! I think it was a great idea to open one in napa! Its so close and convenient to Napa College. I come for lunch every chance I can get. The chiles rellenos are AWSOME! And the burritos are wayyyy better than the burrito truck. It's kinda hidden. It's like my secret little spot. And one of the cool things about it is that it's inside a grocery store so it's like your one stop shop! OOO!!! You gotta try their carne preparada for your next bbq! Its to die for! I ABSOLUTLY LOVE THIS PLACE!

La Tapatia has cleaned up&improved over the years. While I would deduct a star for its rather messed-up parking lot&sometimes items not having prices on them, they're head&shoulders above what they used to be. Their dining area wasn't yucky, but it's even better than it used to. They have deals on salsa, cold coffee, cheese, enchilada sauce, you name it. In some ways, it's cheaper than the usual supermarket. The scent outside of the cooking food is enticing. It smells comforting on a cold, drizzly day. Great place to pick up everyday items.

I used to love this place, the food was good at a decent price. I sometimes go once a month or so. Last time i went i sat in line at lunch time with others. No one to be seen until several of us finally left. Things do happen unfortunately so i went back today.. wow.. after waiting several minutes again for any sign of help my order was finally taken. The cook came out from the back scratching himself and retying his apron then walked around a bit looking at us (customers) like an irritant and commenced to throw food on the grill without washing his hands. Yeah, no thanks. Never returning.

order the chili relleno super burrito! i ordered it vegetarian ( chili relleno w/ beans, rice, lettuce, sour cream and salsa) and it was out of this world amaaazing. seriously, best burrito ive had in Napa and ive tried quite a few different places!

I live a couple blocks away, this place is a lifesaver. Milk is always fresh w/long expiration dates, ceviche is very good, the burritos are tasty and fairly inexpensive, the fruit/vegetables are inexpensive and cover the staples: sweet onions, fresh yams, good peaches/apples, cauliflower, limes/lemons. The bakery items are great-try the bread loaf w/slits on top and cream cheese, jalapeno pepper and onions inside. If you haven't shopped here, you should try it!

Never get al pastor tacos. They are greasy and the meat is always hard and burned. They didn't have tortas anymore, no ice for my horchata water and a guy after me wanted lengua tacos and they didn't have any. The way the cooks look at you if you're a woman makes you feel super uncomfortable or at least that's how I felt.

This is all honesty, DO NOT take this the wrong way. Pretty much NO ONE here speaks English, but that really doesn't bother me because their food is delicious. I always go to the back to their burrito place and get a burrito. I've had a couple of incidents where the person didn't speak English and I got a little frustrated, but my burrito was always delicious. (Lucky I remembered some Spanish from high school).

I love going to La Tapatia Market for a quick burrito fix or some of the produce.

Food is good , the cook does great work, the cashier in the restaurant the one with the tatoo in the forearm, she is clueless on how to write the orders or even put them in the right order, people get upset because they don't receive their order according to the place tey came in.

Only place in Napa doing real pastor! Love this place! I hate writing this review because they are already sold out by 3pm usually and it's some what unknown to the public. Anyway go there and enjoy their awesome authentic food!! Best in town!

Do not get the pig skins. The service is great but the ;pig skins are hard as a rock! Another website they were the best with 3 kinds, there are only 2 kinds and they are tasteless and rock hard. They did not give you any sauce either.

this is hands down the best place to get authentic taqueria food in Napa, CA. Born and raised Napee and you can't get better than this in town. Also nothing beats fresh, in-house baked pan dulce and bolillos!!! check it out, its amazing!!

Really good taco al pastor- flavorful and inexpensive!

I've been going to La Tapatia in Vallejo since it first opened up on Sonoma Blvd. When I learned that there was going to be one opening up in Napa I was ecstatic as I have been working in Napa for years! The fresh fruit juices are great...I recommend the Mango Juice! It's an all in one stop-you can grab a bite to eat, get fresh produce and purchase authentic mexican sundries. This family owned business has friendly staff that is extremely hospitable!
