The Best Tacos in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota | Eater Twin Cities

"The Ponce family’s La Tapatia got its start as a food truck and is now Roseville’s go-to taco restaurant. This menu highlights the cuisine of Guadalajara, the capital city of Jalisco with taco options such as savory lengua and tangy chicken tinga, served street-style (cilantro and onion with lime), Cali-style (cheese, crema, lettuce, and tomato), or Tejano-style (with cotija, crema, and pico de gallo). Make reservations online through Toasttab or place a Doordash order for pickup or delivery." - Cinnamon Janzer

This had quickly become one of our favorite taco spots, and for good reason! The moment you step through the doors, you're enveloped in a vibrant, electric atmosphere. The space is beautifully adorned with twinkling lights and colorful stars that hang from the ceiling, creating a whimsical feel. Kegs are prominently displayed, hinting at the delicious brews to come. After a brief moment of soaking in the ambiance, you make your way to the check-in area, where the friendly staff welcomes you with warm smiles. Once seated, we eagerly dove into the menu, which was brimming with tantalizing options. The aroma wafting from the kitchen made our mouths water, and after much deliberation, we decided to start with a selection of tacos. When they arrived, they were absolutely divine each bite bursting with flavor! Jimmy and Eduardo, our enthusiastic servers, shared their expertise and suggested a variety of cocktails that complemented our meal perfectly. Their recommendations included not only vibrant cocktails but also the refreshing La Dona beer, which quickly became a crowd favorite. The cocktails we tried were incredible strong and perfectly crafted. It wasn’t long before we were lost in the lively conversation and laughter that filled the air around us. The atmosphere was so infectious that we found ourselves ordering round after round, reveling in the flavors and delightfully potent drinks. Every sip felt like a mini celebration! After we finished our tacos, the night was still young, so we decided to continue our adventure at the bar. The bartenders were wizards, and they invited us to sample an impressive selection of tequila and Mexican whiskey. Each tasting was a unique experience, showcasing the rich and varied profiles of the spirits. The location itself boasted ample parking right in front, making it super convenient for our group. One of my favorite features was the restaurant's garage-like doors that opened up, allowing a refreshing breeze to sweep through the space on warm evenings. It made for a perfect setting to enjoy good food and great company. As the night progressed, we leaned back in our chairs, fully content, our hearts and bellies brimming with joy. The sounds of laughter and clinking glasses were the perfect soundtrack to a memorable night filled with flavor and fun. This taco spot had truly turned into a hidden gem in the city that we couldn't wait to return to!

Google
Absolutely astonishing to find a place with aesthetics, music, with the food, drinks and service to back it up. We came in late, (within an hour of closing) & with this industry I try not to. We were seated right away and there were still plenty people there. Our server got us waters right away and took our drink order. Drinks took less than 5 minutes. Drinks were FANTASTIC, excellent presentation, with equal taste. The Bartender, Lalo, introduced himself and gave us information about the different tequila selection they have. We tried a recommended shot of “La Gritona” that was excellent. Our food was served, we ordered chips & guacamole, chips are made fresh as well as the guac and tasted as such easily 10/10. I ordered Alambres Al Pastor, loaded with meat, cheese, pico, peppers, and some avocado. Packed with flavor, but it was too much juices & heat from all the meats it made the tortillas fall apart from underneath, next time I will order extra tortillas 8.5/10. My wife got Birria tacos that she loved and my daughter got steak tacos. There were no to go box’s. For the 3 of us with 3 drinks and two shots was $118 not including tip. I’m excited for summer to check out the patio and enjoy some more drinks. This place is my new favorite mexican spot!

I was really excited to pick up food to go after reading these stellar reviews. I ate a couple bites of each thing and it was a complete waste of 30 dollars as I’m throwing it all away. The fish taco had the greasiest cod I’ve ever seen and was overcooked to the point it was brown and tough on the sides. The batter has way too much seasoning. They didn’t add the slaw that’s supposed to be on top. The esquite was absolutely loaded in mayo with a giant gob Cotija but tasted like powdered Parmesan and barely a sprinkle of chili powder to add any flavor for the whole cup. So bland - corn, mayo and powdered cheese. People rave about the chips - they are alright but not sure what the big deal is. I’ve def had better. I prefer them a bit thinner and theirs are very thick. The horchata, sickeningly sweet. They offer a lime, watermelon slice, pineapple slice or a few other things with the horchata/Aguas Frescas. Odd combo but I chose watermelon since a nice bite of melon sounded good. They handed me the glass without it. I asked where it was and they said “we don’t have any”. Ok. A good server, though, would have immediately said “we are out of the melon you ordered, would you like the pineapple” or at least acknowledge why it was omitted from the order. I also had to run back in because they forgot to give me the salsas for my chips. And, yes, I had tipped. I will say all four of the salsas were delicious but they give you the tiniest to go containers of them.

Google
Authentic and delicious Mexican food. I always get the bowl with the carnitas and dress it all up with the works. Consistently great food. I highly recommend this place. And don't bother going on a Tuesday, this place is jam packed!

Had to try this new taco hot spot in Roseville tonight. Went in on a Saturday night and was bustling and busy. Great atmosphere, drinks and service was wonderful. Being at an authentic Mexico restaurant, I got michelda which was outstanding made with a pacifico. The food is top notch. We had chips with red and salsa Verde, queso, and Pico de Gallo. Fresh and hot tortilla chips were outstanding. I had an el pastor taco and birilla quesadilla. Absolutely amazing taste and the consume was flavorful. 3 different ways to have your meals made too. I love everything about this place including the people we enjoyed this meal with! See you again soon.

Google
This restaurant was so nice! I ordered the quesa birria and it was fantastic. It definitely hit the spot and is worth visiting. The chips and guacamole were very fresh, staff was incredibly attentive, environment is inviting, and the prices are reasonable.

Yummy! The green salsa is a cilantro lovers dream! The chicken enchiladas were fantastic also! The only way this place could be more perfect is if there were salsa dancing!

La Tapatia is the best! Amazing portions, phenomenal drinks and a staff you can’t beat! Thanks to Andrea, Karen and Greta on a wonderful Tuesday night!

Yelp
Great food, great service. If you enjoy Mexican food, this place is a must try. We went for lunch so we did not get to sit and enjoy the ambience of the place. They have large doors that open to their patio so you feel like your eating outside but in the shade. Don't take my word, go check it out you won't regret!

Yelp
La Tapatia is the sister spot to La Madre -- so I already knew it was going to hit. Had to try it, and I'm glad I did. Started with the birria tacos -- generous on the meat, super satisfying, 4/5. They could use a bit more seasoning, and the triple-stack of corn tortillas was a bit much, but overall still very solid and flavorful. The burritos? Massive. Packed with flavor and definitely worth the hype. I'd recommend going with the street-style burrito -- it's a banger. Now, let's talk drinks: 10/10. The tropical cocktail was a vacation in a glass -- fruity, pineapple garnish, tastes like summer. But the horchata carajillo stole the show. It's like a Latin spin on an espresso martini with RumChata -- creamy, coffee-forward, sweet, and dangerously good. I got two. No regrets. And of course, I had to try the michelada. Bloody Mary fans, this one's for you -- flavorful, bold, and huge. Seriously, it's a meal in itself. Service was good our server was attentive she was new and if she didn't know anything about the menu she would ask and get back to us on recommendations. All around, La Tapatia delivers. Great food, killer drinks, and good vibes. Definitely coming back.

Yelp
Beautiful enchanting restaurant decor! Delicious shrimp tacos and house made chips. The restaurant was full and well attended so it's likely a local favorite. A couple of complaints - the carnitas were full of fat chunks and oil. We sat next to the outside and the bugs (got lots of bites) and flies were bad. So next time I would sit away from the open garage door. Staff were nice and amenable! Definitely would be back to try other menu items!

Yelp
The food here is delicious and fast, which keeps me coming back. The service is good/average. Four stars because the vibe is casual but really loud. The space definitely echos & is overstimulating sometimes. But the food is so good I come back regardless. - lots of indoor seating - seasonal patio - bar with good margs

Yelp
Place is one of the best for authentic Mexican food in the suburbs. What started as a family taco stand has grown into a fun place to gather and enjoy great food in a chill environment. Chips and salsa are a must and you can gauge a mexican place by beans, types of meat, items offered and the type of salsa and Tapatia dials it up. Highly recommend carne asada street tacos, shrimp tacos, torta and burritos. Add a craft beer, mexican coke or sprite and take a siesta after it will be worth it!

Yelp
Food, service, and ambiance--all 5 out of 5! The restaurant itself is very cool, loved all the plants. The food was great, and the chips were out of this world good! I liked how the menu was laid out, giving you the option to choose any of the "bases" and then add your choice of meat. I got a chicken tinga burrito and made it a bowl--it was delicious and the perfect amount of food. I just had water with my meal, but they had a great lineup of local craft beer. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Man. This place has blown up and reservations are needed. I kid you not, they have a ton of indoor and outdoor seating and walk up for about a dozen at the bar but even that is a 1/2 hour to 45 minute wait. Besides this being quite the success story (food truck, small business on Larpenteur, to this location and possibly one happening in Mpls), the food is really kickass! First let's start with drinks. Since La Tapatia took over a former New Bohemia space, they kept ALL the tap lines. I think I remember the bartender saying that there were 30 lines and 25 of those are probably local lines which is pretty cool. They also offer all sorts of other drinks from wine to marg's and more. The food and soup's are amazing. The cebollita's (small fried onions), are crack! Everything is fantastic about this place. And then last year, wifey and I tied the knot and we used La Tapatia to cater it. I had heard horror stories about other couples using food trucks with slow service and La Tapatia crushed it. They premade everything and even had vegetarian options. It wasn't just beans & rice for the non-meat eaters, we were able to offer up Abe's moms' special recipe of pineapple tamales. Wow! We had been in Mexico City earlier that year and had some cranberry tamales and they were so good. The pineapple though blew my mind they were so good. It's not gonna be anything you see on the menu. Seriously, this is really a great success story and if you haven't been yet, do yourself a favor and make a reservation.

Yelp
I'm not in the mood for heavy food today, so I probably won't eat, but sure, I'll come hang out with everyone! *pulls until parking lot* "La Tapatia: Mexican *Street* Food" Okay, that sounds more promising. I walk in, and it's bustling. It's a Saturday, so it's understandably crowded, and therefore lively from all the chatter. We were amused that the TV screen above our table was displaying an error screen and remained that way throughout our visit. The menu was very straightforward, which is great for anyone who tends to get choice overwhelm. The dishes are selected as: Base Protein Topping Sides Spice, which are the six salsa choices We place our food orders, and I add an horchata with mine, because I'll never not with Mexican fare. A massive heap of chips arrive at our table, and they are so fresh, they're still hot. The salsas we each selected for our meals arrive at the table as three massive communal bottles to share - we'd apparently all been keen on three of the six choices. Excited, we asked to have the remaining three choices brought to the table as well and had a grand time comparing and combining salsa while we waited on our burritos, tacos, and tortas. My horchata was a perfect compliment to the salsas, and it wowed everyone so much that more were ordered for the table. The food arrives, and we have so much fun pairing our massive plates of food with the many salsa possibilities. The portions were so generous that I definitely wasn't the only one who wrapped half of my meal up for later. We're foodies, and we rarely visit a place twice given how much there is to explore, but we'll likely be back to this spot. It's been a month since that visit, and I'm still thinking about it!

Yelp
Fresh and flavorful...just two words that described our lunch this afternoon at La Tapatia. We've been wanting to go here for over a year once a friend catered this restaurant for their son's high school graduation party. It was the best Mexican food I tried so far in the twin cities. We decided to head over during the early afternoon after a wonderful visit to the Como Park Zoo. We didn't realize they took reservations and luckily our tentative 20 minute wait for a table turned into a 1 minute wait, yay! We ordered all at once...large order of chips with 2 salsas. One avocado and one green with jalapeños. Both were sooo good and I love that they leave you with the entire bottle so not only can you use it with your chips but with your main entree. Score! I ordered a camarones alambre cali style. It was absolutely delicious and I can't wait to come back to try more awesome options! Some additional info: they are closed on Mondays. Make reservations cause even in the off hours (mid afternoon) they are busy (they are just that good). Half their restaurants inside is high top tables where the seats do not have backs (they are just stools)...for those with small kiddos. Lovely patio for summer time. Review #450!

Yelp
La Tapatia is officially my favorite Mexican restaurant in the Cities area!! It was amazing! I loved the decor with all the natural plants and decorations throughout. The restaurant also opened to outside, so we got a lot of fresh air while enjoying the inside ambience. The service was excellent. We were greeted immediately by the host, who quickly got us seated. Our server was attentive throughout our late lunch, checking in regularly. The food was what sold this restaurant as a new favorite. The chips and queso to start our meal was fantastic. They were both unique - different from the typical chips and queso from other Mexican restaurants. We also ordered drinks, which were beautiful and delicious. The margarita was pretty strong - so beware!! I ordered two tacos, which were wonderful. I enjoyed the Mexican rice in the taco, a unique addition that typically doesn't seem to regularly occur at other Mexican restaurants. La Tapatia comes highly recommended!

Yelp
Went to grab a lunch midday on a Saturday and thought to try out La Tapatia in Roseville. We heard great things and couldn't wait to try some tacos. We were greeted and seated right away. They also have a parking lot which is super convenient! Anyways, our server grabbed our drink order and gave us a little time to look over the menu. I noticed there were a lot of younger folks as servers and felt they were a little uncomfortable with answering questions. Which wasn't very helpful. Food: we ordered a few Al pastor, carne asada, and chipotle chicken tacos. The Al pastor taco was by far the best! They were juicy, a little sweet, and had great flavor. The salsas really took them over the top! The chipotle chicken was SPICY and a little tangy. It was just okay. The carne asada was tender, but lacked flavor. Nothing special about the rice and beans so not sure I'd order those next time. I loved their outdoor patio and seating. It was vibrant, festive, and comfortable. If I'm in the neighborhood I'd stop by again.

Yelp
I brought friends from China here so they could experience Mexican food for the first time. I like how you can customize your dish here by protein, toppings, etc., just like ordering from a food truck or taco stand. My favorite tacos are street-style with tomatoes, onion, and cilantro so the meat is the star, so we ordered some like that and some Tejano style (with crema and a sprinkle of cojito.) We ended up with 5 plates of 2 tacos each, an order of chips and guacamole, and added a burrito with everything for my friend's giant teenage son who's always hungry. The servers were all super-nice and helpful, letting us order a few things at a time so we could try different combinations. (We had the good sense to show up about 2 pm so we could order the Happy Hour specials: 2 tacos for $6!) The place is casual but pulled together: good music, comfortable decor. It's cool, not kitschy, and everyone on staff was super nice.

Yelp
My husband and I decided to give this place a try. We were looking for a casual spot that serves tacos. This is a great location in Roseville with ample parking. We were immediately greeted with a warm welcome from the front desk woman. She told us the wait time would be around 30 minutes. To our surprise, we got a table in less than 10 minutes. Our server's name was Eduardo. Multiple servers checked on us but I can't remember their names. Everyone was kind and attentive. We ended up getting the chips& salsa and Alambres. The chips and salsa were so fresh and tasty. The one thing I would change is the way it was served. The salsa comes in bottles and they give you plates. Very odd to me. I'd suggest bowls to make it easier for scooping. As far as the bottles I was completely grossed out. We ended up putting napkins around the bottles to avoid germs while eating finger food. The Alambres were tasty. No complaints there. Over all this place was pretty nice. On the drafty side which made the dining experience a little uncomfortable. We'd probably try this place again in the summer for the patio.

Yelp
I love coming here. My favorite Mexican food. Every option I've had is tremendous. The chips are a must. I just went for the first time since they got a full liquor license and thought the margarita was great. There is a happy hour now too. The restaurant itself is clean and and often busy. I always bring friends here if they haven't tried it before.

Yelp
Had a nice Mother's Day brunch with my mom, dad, husband and kiddo. Reservations recommended. Place was packed, but luckily many people left when arrived as the tables are literally back to back high tops. There is a nice patio. Service excellent Food Ordered: Scrambled eggs with pancakse, bacon or ham Breakfast Burrito w carne asada- pretty good Huevos rancheros- said to be delicious and spicy Omelet - said to be good Bloody Mary was good, not my favorite tasting mix, but was okay. I may venture back. Cute place. Very reasonably priced brunch.

Yelp
Food: flavorful, fresh ingredients, perfectly fried tostadas, and refreshing horchatas. Try all their salsas, they are soooo good! Service: quick and attentive, especially since we were on our lunch break and needed to eat fairly quickly. Ambiance: bright natural light, fun festive decorations, and music that was upbeat but not overbearing.

Yelp
Where to begin. First, it may seem like this is a counter service restaurant because there's a cash register at the counter when you walk in, but instead it is a sit down place. I wish it were counter service, tbh. I found thing place to be pretty expensive and underwhelming. I decided to try a torta, having had my fill of tacos recently. I will admit that I seem to be chasing a torta high from one I had in Denver about 10 years ago, but I digress. It wasn't great. Sloppy, lacked flavor. And the worst part was that the torta + water + tip was $20! That's insane. The idea that for $20 you don't even get some chips is insane. Now, I will admit that the chips are amazing but its a real punch in the gut to have to pay $7+ for chips. A small side of chips should come with the torta at least - if not all meals. And then if you want a big basket or order queso you can justify charging for them, but they should be sub $5. I wanted to like the place but it just didn't hit for me.
google avatar

Karen J.

Yelp
I have been ordering from this location ever since they were a food truck, then a lunch counter, and now this gorgeous location in Roseville. Can't beat the carnitas pork tacos and the fresh aguas frescas - try the agua de tamarindo! Service is always phenomenal!
google avatar

Meow W.

Yelp
The place is nice and the service is ok. Ordered a few tacos and when I got them it was the greasiest streets taco in MN. Not only was it so greasy I tried the dab the layer of oil off but oil kept oozing out. It's like they poured half a cup of oil in each taco. Never going back. Stay away unless you want your arteries clogged!
google avatar

Scott S.

Yelp
The place doesn't look much from the front, but the atmosphere is actually quite nice once you walk down the hallway (passing the glass wall behind the bar) and into the main restaurant. On warmer days, the patio looks like it would be an excellent place to hang out. The main part of their menu looked like a build-it-yourself type of thing. Pick tacos, burrito, quesadilla, etc. Then you can pick your protein, style, and sauce. I ended up choosing a Burrito Bowl with Carnitas Street Style. The food tasted great. It was obviously made with fresh ingredients. I was surprised later when I looked at the menu again and saw that it cost me an extra dollar to get the Burrito Bowl, thus saving them the tortilla. I wish the waiter would have mentioned the up charge, although I probably would have gotten the bowl anyway. As I do at most Mexican restaurants -- well, all restaurants -- I got an unsweetened iced tea. Much to my surprise, they charge for tea by the glass. No refills. Again, mentioning this when ordering would have been helpful. Personally, I have trouble paying $4 for iced tea in my at Starbucks... but at least I get free refills. Here, the glasses were much smaller, and again, no refills. At least the tea here tasted good. They checked me out tableside using ApplePay, which was nice. I didn't get an itemized bill. And I'm not quite sure if they tacked on a gratuity or not. Unlike normal, they didn't turn the POS terminal around and ask me to enter a tip amount. Bottom line... not sure if I will go back or not. The food was good. So was the atmosphere. The food was reasonably priced. What may keep me away is that each tiny glass of ice tea (tiny, by my standards) is $4.
google avatar

Inaje P.

Yelp
WOW! First time ordering and second time having it. AMAZING! Is an understatement, the best Mexican cuisine I've had in a while! If you go in, the service is great and the atmosphere is fun and very well decorated! The food is so flavorful and literally has me closing my eyes and not wanting it to end! If you are in the area or not even in the area, GO!
google avatar

Jennifer E.

Yelp
The food and drink keeps us coming back time and time again. It's definitely not their service. We can only go when we have a couple hours to spare. While everyone we've ever encountered is friendly, the speed at which you are served is incredibly slow. We've been there when the restaurant is almost empty and you get served at the same pace as you do if it was completely packed.
google avatar

Tony D.

Yelp
Excellent food, drinks and service. It was a surprisingly good Mexican option in a strip mall near the state fairgrounds. We will definitely be back on our next visit to Roseville/Saint Paul.
google avatar

Sam R.

Yelp
Lived up to the hype I heard about this place. Honestly some of the best tacos I've ever had. And the pineapple pork entree is outstanding.

Brent M.

Yelp
If you haven't been here, you're missing out. Awesome staff and atmosphere and the food is some of the best authentic Mexican food around. There is almost always a wait, but it is absolutely worth your time. Your taste buds will thank you.

Yelp
I came as part of a larger party (12 of us) after work one night. They were able to seat us all together by pushing two longer tables together. There was quite the confusion for us in the beginning but after a slightly irritating 15 min ordeal, a server came over and took our order. Like many places, they are being affected my staffing shortages and apparently the section we were seated in requires customers to order and pay for your food directly from an app, and not waited on by a server. The only service you get is being brought your food and if you need a refill on a beverage. Hopefully they can get this hiccup resolved (we werent able to use the app to order and pay individually. The app wanted us all on the same check) For my meal, I got the Al Pastor burrito, street style and it was amazing!! The meat was seasoned and prepared perfectly and made for one of the best burritos I've ever had. Everyone else at the table had nothing but great things to say for their meals as well. Save room for dessert because the tres leches cake was INCREDIBLE

Yelp
Amazing food, great beverages. Incredible brunch. DELICIOSA toda la comida y buena atención al cliente

Yelp
This place is legit mexican street eats...wish i lived in roseville! Get anything, its all good.

Yelp
This is one of the best places for street tacos and Mexican food in general in Roseville, MN! I love how they have six different salsas you can request. Their tortilla chips are one of my favorites! It has an upbeat and hip vibe. The menu might be a little confusing, but the waiters do a good job of explaining if it is your first time. During busy times, we had to flag down our waiters but we were well served when we got their attention.

Yelp
Today was my second visit. This time with the huz and one of my teens. We started with the Sopes and the Besos Latinos. Huz had beef cheek tacos and teen had beef tongue alambre. Both were delicious...I know because they didn't talk much. Both seasoned well, cooked well and filling. The tacos were a bit drippy. Default seasoning is Minnesota mild on all of our entrees. For my entree I ordered the chicken tinga nachos. Delicious! Crispy chips, saucy cheese and awesome toppings! I couldn't finish them because they were substantial. Drinks, I had a house margarita and huz had a Ledonia Doña Fria and the teen had the Tamarindo. The house margarita comes rimmed with Tajin. It was tasty and refreshing. The Tamarindo was sweet and tangy. It was a fun find on the menu as usually my teens gravitate to Jarritos. Our server was friendly and had upbeat energy. Unfortunately, she was also distracted. She brought our drinks after apps and after all of our entrees had arrived. I watched her spend a bunch of time (like more than five minutes) behind the bar trying to untangle and re-apply a gold necklace. When she brought our drinks we asked her for a menu to order an entree to go. She went MIA. We ordered our second entree from the front counter and it was waiting and ready for us before she came back again. Someone else was already fetching a to go box for us (because we thought we would never see her again) and she must have forgotten about us wanting that to go order because she never brought it up again. So...why still the five stars? The place was moderately busy. There were three servers and ours seemed to have two large groups in addition to regular tables. It could've been managed better, but I'm giving them the benefit of doubt since the food was so good. I will come back, but I will make sure that if I'm in a hurry, I will just order to go.

Yelp
The service was amazing accompanied by food such as the Baria tacos and los ocampos. 10/10 would recommend for authentic Mexican street food ambiance
google avatar

Teresa L.

Yelp
The service never disappoints. My husband and I have been here a few times. The food is great. I believe their chips and salsa are homemade. The chips are served warm and the server will bring you a few salsa to choose from. I love their salsa verde. It is full of flavor and has a mild kick. My husband prefers salsa Rojas despite loving spicy foods. They also had a salsa that did not have any kick which contains avocado. (I'm sorry, I do not remember the name.) I did upload photos of the 3 styles: Street, Cali, and Tejano. I chose lengua as m'y protein. I loved all three styles. Street style is what I think of traditional Mexican tacos. The Cali style was fresh with lettuce and diced tomatoes. It reminded me of the taco I would see at a taco bar/potluck. Tejano is similiar to the Cali style to me but contains pico de gallo. If I were to come back, I would ask for all three styles again.

Yelp
Stopped in here on a whim as our first choice of restaurant was not opened yet for the day and this was close by. So glad we stopped! The restaurant is tucked along a service road off of County Road C in Roseville so make sure you map quest it to get there. It's small but spacious at the same time. Staff was very polite and patient as this was our first time here. They played Mexican music in the background was loud enough to hear, but not too loud that it overpowers your conversation. The food was fantastic. We had a burrito an quesadilla, both of which we would have again, chips and salsa Verde, Mexican rice, a Fulton Lonely Blonde and a Dos XX Amber (it was perfect with the food). Total of bill before tax $50.50. Not bad for the amount we got. Our server, Neiry, was so sweet. Whole experience was great and we will visit again!

Yelp
We have had breakfast here before ( which they only do Sunday mornings ) and we LOVED it , cafe de olla was so good and COMPLEMENTARY. The concha with berries was 10/10 and the breakfast burrito was 10/10 also and can't forget about the chilaquiles were authentic! We went back today and they only had the regular menu and we left EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED and DISAPPOINTED. The coffee was regular brew from a machine like the one you can get at home for FREE and they charged us $5. The Birria and consomé was so tasteless and the tortillas were so soggy. The alambre was so bad my husband had two bites and left it there. The only good thing was my KIDS sopes and horchata the we all shared because our food was so bad. We never mind paying for good food like we did the first time but paying $87 for bad food we will never go back if it's not for breakfast.

Yelp
Overall the service was a terrible experience and ensured that we will not be returning here. Multiple staff members were rude to us over the course of the night, one of our party's food orders was 15min late to our table without so much as a word from the staff. We payed for the chips and salsa to receive a basket of crushed up throwaway chips. When the last food order finally came out it was accompanied by a forced apology and a swift blaming of the kitchen staff. Altogether a very unimpressive and disappointing experience.

Yelp
The absolute best place for authentic Mexican street food in the Twin Cities. The tacos are dynamite, and the burritos are amazing as well. Not to mention the chips, salsa and queso are killer too! As a taco connoisseur, I totally recommend this family-owned joint to anybody in the area.

Yelp
La Tapatia is a hidden gem because I never hear anyone talk about it and it's absolutely incredible. I couldn't really find any pictures of the interior so I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into, but it's actually decently large inside with ample seating. They were able to accommodate my party of 10 on super short notice which was awesome and we really appreciated it because we were expecting to have to split into two tables. You order on your phone, and it can be a little confusing because it groups everyone together and then when you press order it also sends everyone else's forward if they are in the cart. So this can create some confusion, and same on the way out as well when you have to pay. One person accidentally paid for everyone so we had to all Venmo him back. Onto the food - it was just incredible. We started off with an order of chips and queso. The queso was just delicious, I could eat it by the spoonful. For the main, I had a bowl of pescado (breaded fish) and I did it Tejano style which is just basically Tex Mex style. It was so delicious. The breading was so crunchy and flavorful, while the fish inside was soft and tender. The bowl was well balanced with flavor and the portion was great for the price. For the dessert, I split an order of churros with horchata sauce with a friend. This is definitely a dessert to split with 1-2 other people. It is rich and satisfying. Job well done on the churros and the horchata sauce was quite interesting and worked really well. Definitely recommend this place and it's great for groups. I will 100% be coming back.

Yelp
I was sad to learn they closed during Covid, but on a recent visit to MN, we were going to hit up New Bohemia in Roseville and realized they had taken their spot! Food still on point! We had everything from the tacos, to the burritos to the tortas! A good selection of local beers, too. If you like their salsas , you can order some to bring home. I hope they keep going strong!

Yelp
So burrito was extremely bland. I got the Asada burrito didn't like it at all, the chicken tacos weren't good either. And these should be the staples so they should be good, right? The reason for the 3 stars is the ambience is great, employees are also good. And the empenadas with the Jimica sauce was excellent! And the quisadilla was also good not great but definitely good. I will though caution this with I am from Southern California... So the standards are high when we are talking about Mexican food.

Yelp
Really disappointing, though the food is great but they literally kicked us out for another reservation and we were still consuming food and drinks as well as enjoying our time. We didn't have no options to move to the bar or another open table, I will never recommend this place to anybody and never come back again. solo por un taquito

Yelp
These street tacos are generously filled with perfectly seasoned/marinated meet. They don't fully close and half of it spills out when you take the first bite, which is a sign of a great taco. So flavorful. The al pastor tacos were my favorite because of the noticeable balance of sweet pineapple and deeply seasoned meat. The carne asada was delicious too. Came in on a Wednesday during lunch and it was moderately busy. The food came out quickly and the service was great. The salsa that they bring out with the food was very good; the red one has a vinegar taste but it's interesting and good. The green was my favorite. Just a solid spot for tacos!

Yelp
There were open tables when I went there with nobody at tables outside on a beautiful day and I was told I would have to sit at the bar that had no seating. I had road a motorcycle there and do not want to sit at a bar thank you. Shameful. I was so hungry and pissed just went home angry! I can't believe they just turn people away! I ate the best tacos I ever had last week at Los Tacos #1 in midtown Manhattan and they serve a line going out the door and down the block till close!

Yelp
The location has changed since my first review, plus no longer covid times, so we've come here a few times and dined in. It's less busy in the afternoon. We came on a Friday night once and had to wait about 20 min. I went today as I was craving some chips and a sandwich. The chips are so delicious, deep fried and crispy. I got the guacamole as well. So good. I discovered I love the tortas. You choose what form of vehicle you want your food in - tacos, burrito, quasadilla, AL ambre, torta. Then you choose the type of meat, there were a lot to choose from. I like the carnitas. Then you choose a style for toppings, like cilantro, cheese, etc. I did street style carnitas torta. Amazing. Excited for leftovers.

Yelp
My wife and I went about 5 on a Saturday. They were super busy. We did not do a reservation, but i highly recommend you do. We were able to find bar seating. The chips and queso were delicious. We did a few tacos; cabeza, carnitas, tinga, pescado. The tinga was my absolute favorite, my wife's was cabeza. We also split flat and churros with horchata. The flan was really good. The bartender wasnt the most attentive if servers, but they were busy and he was cranking out drinks so we didnt mind. We will definitely be back, with a reservation. And their patio looks like it would be amazing in summer.

Yelp
I will be going back to La Tapatia! I never heard of this Mexican restaurant in Roseville and it did not disappoint! The inside was decorated so cute and just had a great vibe. Their menu is huge with over 14 meat options for their tacos and I was so excited to see Al Pastor as an option as that has been my favorite since I tried it in Mexico and fell in love! You can get any taco three ways (street style, Cali style or tejano style)! They also have 6 homemade salsas in huge jugs that you can get all 6 at your table to test and try. Some of the best salsas I have ever had. It is such a fun experience mixing and matching tacos and also a lot of shareable options for larger groups! The drinks were so good! I had a strawberry mojito and it was a better tasting mojito with a rock candy on top for decoration. Parking lot was huge, servers were so nice. All around great time!

Yelp
I liked it but my Latin companion did not! He had a burrito and said it was terrible. Lol. Service was a bit slow and could see workers chatting so it wasn't because they were busy. Food took a while too. Never refilled my soda. Ambiance is cool, they have garage-like doors that open when it's warm and heaters on the patio too. No sides with the meal, have to order separately. They don't have complimentary chips and salsa like most Mexican restaurants but they have them to purchase. They should have complimentary with the long wait for food. I may or may not be back. Not bad but not great either.

Yelp
Went for a business lunch. The street tacos were very good. The street corn was delicious as well. But the chips were absolutely wonderful

Yelp
The food was great! Sadly I didn't have room to try everything since I got so full. Definitely will go back and try more. The quesadilla was loaded. Tasted FANTASTIC!

Yelp
Very fast and friendly service. Great authentic food, beer and margaritas! Highly recommend!
