"Crudo is the latest of several restaurant projects that co-owners Fernando Montiel, Fernando González, and Eduardo Bustamante are hoping to open in San Diego. The trio also run La Taqueria Tijuana, the popular taco shop that got its start in Imperial Beach and now operates locations in Little Italy and Hillcrest." - Candice Woo

"A South Bay taco hotspot is preparing to expand into Little Italy. where La Taqueria Tijuana will soon be slinging tacos made with hand-pressed tortillas and stuffed with top-grade, charbroiled cuts out of its new home at the base of the Broadstone building on Kettner Boulevard. The menu will mirror that of its original Palm Avenue location in Imperial Beach, with tacos, tortas, quesadillas, and tostadas available with carne asada, adobada, pollo asado, carnitas, plus a vegetarian taco made with nopales. Familiar items from San Diego area taco shops, such as carne asada fries, rolled tacos, and large burritos will also be available as well as a weekend birria special. This new space will also feature a craft beer program with a rotating selection of Baja brewers, including Insurgente, Cerveceria Tijuana, and Agua Mala on tap and in bottles. A limited wine program will include regional wines from the Valle de Guadalupe. Opening by mid-December under current restrictions on indoor dining, La Taqueria Tijuana will have outdoor seating on-site, but the 1,300-square-foot space holds communal seating, individual tables, a bar section, and a standing counter as often found in taquerias south of the border, which will be activated once indoor dining is allowed to resume." - Mario A. Delicious TJ styled tacos. Came here at 12pm on a Wednesday. Place was the start of the lunch rush. Ordered 4 tacos, 2 adobada, 1 carne asada, and 1 Birria. If the meat was crispier and more moist on the carne asada, it would be fabulous. Birria taco was smooth. Adobada could have some more flavor, but it was good. Price came out to be about to be a little under $20.

Food looks better than it tastes. We went on a Wednesday night around 11pm they closed at 12pm. Jamaica was warm to taste, not enough ice added. Guacamole tasted old/ as if it had been sitting out, for nachos instead of cheese melting it tasted powdery, the meat was cold. 1 highlight was the green salsa that i would suggest as a chaser after every bite. It was spicy. If your drunk or super hungry and nothing else is open in little Italy than it's not that bad.

Google
Food was OK. I'm speaking as a Mexican from Chicago with high Mexican food standards. tacos were definitely not fresh but lots of meat, just reheated meat. The tacos werent even hot when i got them to dine in. The tripas and carne asada needed salt. The adobada was over salted. Salsa not spicey. The service was great in terms of friendliness and promptness. I appreciate a Mexican place that serves Topo chico, thank you. The place itself is spacious with beautiful decor and clean bathrooms. Walking distance from hotel strip.

This is my second review of La Taqueria, without a doubt, it’s my go-to for an efficient, delicious, authentic Mexican food experience. Not to mention, I have been served by Dafne. Not only did she remember me one month after my first original visit, but she seriously had a bigger smile on her face serving myself and my friends since my first trip to this location. I’m quite the connoisseur of Mexican food myself, you just don’t get an experience such as this from any Mexican fast food chain. La Taqueria is something special, Tacos El Gordo wya? With beautiful service like this and immediate order/no wait?? Where could I ever think or want to go anywhere else. Period. Thanks Dafne, thanks La Taqeria. Wow. Wow . Woah.

Google
The food that we ordered was horrible and we brought it all back for a refund. I did give them two stars because the place is very clean and very friendly. Unfortunately my family and I placed it to go order about an hour Saturday night. Taqueria Tijuana, we expected the food to be similar to the food you can get in tij uana. Well they are nothing like the food that you can get into one. The food was a big fail. We ordered carne asada tacos, chicken tacos and two orders of their five rolled tacos taquitos.. the taquitos tasted like they were the ones you can buy at the grocery store and just put in your microwave. They were nobody wanted to eat them. The meat and the tacos was dry both asada meat and chicken. Tasted really dry. All of their food seem to have been either cooking for a long time or maybe was the end of the day and they didn't want to make fresh food but the flavor was a big fail and even the texture and the chewiness was another reason we brought all the food back for refund. They were very friendly and told us they are going to process a refund.

Got this delivered via Uber eats. They put the five tacos on a plate and covered them in foil. Tacos are notorious for being difficult to transport but these stayed intact and beautiful. I got carne asada (which was fine), tripe (a little disappointed in the flavor), buche (very delicious!), veggie (nopales were fine but not something I'd get again) and birria (the best one! Tender and moist meat). Shout out to the team who packed my meal bc they packed enough limes and salsas for each taco! They had an uber eats special for a free Agua Fresca so I chose horchata and it was really refreshing. Highly recommend this place!

Google
Second time here! I really liked the tacos, especially the buche ones. The buche very soft and we'll cooked. I'm a super fan oh the tripe tacos, but I have to admit the buche is much better prepared here from my preference, that is not crispy but not super soft. The tripe tacos we're prepared crispier than the first time I visited, so I guess every time is differently cooked. Overall good and will visit again. Also I tried the birria tacos that are good as well. The spicy sauce is firm, with good flavour and you don't need as much to enjoy it in combination with your meat. The service is irregular, the first time the server was one of the worst and the second time it was good.

Google
A little slow going today! Took me 30 min to get 3 tacos. But....they were delicious and authentic! Nothing to write home about bit a great price for the area.

Yelp
Great tacos !, the tortillas complement whatever protein you decide to get . Their salsas have a great taste and kick . Highly recommended tacos ,

Yelp
Stopped by for a bite today. Photos looked good but sadly I was a bit let down. I ordered a torta with carne asada and the flavor was decent but it was so thin that I thought I was eating a panini. Also it fell apart very quickly as you can see in the photo. Overall the value is not there for the price you pay. A torta and a drink was about $18. I'll try another place next time.

Yelp
Great late night food spot in Little Italy. Quick service. I'm now hooked on vampiros!

Yelp
I love staying in Little Italy each time I visit San Diego, but I don't love that their late night food is solely relegated to pizza, so what a pleasant surprise when this taqueria popped up on ur radar. Welcome La Taqueria Tijuana!! Tijuana tacos are making their rounds - you might be familiar with the photogenic generous dollop of gauc on the tacos - that's what I'm here for folks. My friend and I shared the following: -adobada fries ($12.95): smothered with melted cheese, meat of choice, sour cream + guacamole -carne asada muilta ($5.95): kind like a quesadilla but not and your favorite kind of meat. - tacos de campechano + aside ($3.95 each) So basically you choose your vessel of choice: tacos, fries, mulita - whatever your heart desires and your favorite kind of meat. It's, easy, simple, and straightforward. I loved that they offered abobada and campechano as meat options.o delicious. The adobada fries were so, so good as were the campechano tacos. If you haven't had capechano (a combination of meats) before, do yourself a favor and try it. Service was great and they have an uber cute outdoor patio.

Yelp
Pretty cool there's a street taco style spot right in the heart of Little Italy. Like all places in San Diego, parking is a biotch. It's all by luck since it's street parking or paid parking lots. All I can say is, good luck. We def lucked out....whew! Menu is nice and simple. You got your tacos made with all kinds of meats that suits your liking. Tacos can be made in different ways now...like vampiro, mulita, or I think there may even be burrito form? We ordered a few carne asada tacos, one adobada (aka Al pastor), birria, and a pollo vampiro. Although the birria did not come with consome. Hmmm...how come? All were fantastic and these street tacos are a good size too. Two would've been plenty for me but as usual my eyes are bigger than my stomach and ordered three instead. I was still able to finish them though. If I'm ever in little Italy again and prefer tacos over pasta (which is most of the time) I'll come here instead! Delicious delicious. Accepts both cash and credit cards. Edit: even though business owner Eduardo responded, I doubt he'll see this new note. So we DID asked a female worker for consome but she said you guys didn't have any.

Yelp
Came here on a week night after 6 when parking was free and ordered 2 birria tacos and a birria vampiro. There are a bunch of different meats you can order; Carne Asada, adobada, pollo asado, veggie, tripa, campechano, birria, carnitas, and buche. Then you can choose your favorite preparation, taco, tostada, quesadilla, ect. There were a few that i have seen at a few places like mulitas, but i haven't heard of costras or vampiros. So i got 2 tacos and 1 vampiros just to see what it was all about. The birria is very tasty and the best i've had in San Diego. The tacos were street taco size but was stuffed with lots of birria meat and topped with onions and cilantro. The Vampiro was a crispy tostada with melted cheese and the birria on top. So similar to the taco but crispy and with melted cheese. Im curious about the other meats like adobada and carnitas but it's gonna be hard to not order the birria next time. Decisions... Decisions... I was told the Costras was basically a cheese taco, the cheese is grilled on the flat top to make a shell then folded over your choice of meat. The meat was of higher quality than your normal taco shop, well i guess your normal taco shop doesn't even have birria. So despite it being a little more expensive, you're definitely getting higher quality. 3 items was just enough to satisfy me and maybe left enough room for dessert. The salsa was also spicier than most places which i liked very much. Service was very friendly, you order up front, at the register then brought to your seat. Everything is made to order so expect to wait a little after you order its not like your neighborhood "fast food" taco shop. Can't wait to come back and try more things like mulitas which i've only seen at a few places and other meats like adobada and carnitas.

Yelp
I came in on a whim and didnt have much time before picking up family from the airport. Generally a meh experience but i think there is strong potential here. I ordered the nachos campechano. The cashier didnt know how to use the POS system and took a borderline uncomfortable amount of time to pay. I sat waiting over 10 mins for my nachos. Since there was only 1 kitchen worker and 1 cashier/server, i saw my food sat in the kitchen for 5 minutes before it was served to me. By the time i received it, it was cold. The al pastor tasted good but was sparse. It wasn't that filling for the amount of money spent either.

Yelp
Ya'll, I did not expect to go to La Taqueria Tijuana when I was visiting San Diego earlier this month but it ended up being one of my favorite meals of my entire trip. It was around 3 or 4pm and I was pretty hungry after a lot of walking around. I didn't want anything too heavy since I had dinner plans later that night but I definitely needed something substantial to hold me over. La Taqueria Tijuana was right down the street from my AirBnB and I spontaneously decided to give it a try. I got the chicken quesadilla which was reasonably priced at $5.50. It was ready within 5 minutes or so and came packed up securely. Inside was a beautifully cooked, generously stuffed chicken quesadilla with two sides of green salsa. It wasn't cut up into triangles like I am used to, but the flavors from the veggies, chicken, and cheese melded so well together that I didn't even really notice the presentation. I was really pleasantly surprised with how good this quesadilla was and was even happier with the prices! I highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting San Diego. Maybe it's just because I'm from the East and haven't had much West Coast Mexican food, but La Taqueria Tijuana really knocked it out of the park!

Yelp
Got the carne asada burrito and it was half the size of what the pictures show. Very little meat and dry. All I could taste was the onions. No bueno. Maybe the cook was having a bad day or something because all the fotos show otherwise. Also, the tortilla tasted like surface cleaner similar to fabuloso. So sad it wasn't good because I really wanted to try the buche burrito.

Yelp
If I could give 0 stars I would I been coming here for months and never was consistent messed up my order multiple times and refused to fix there mistake poor management no quality in the food fat in the meat and old expired salsa definitely save your money and go to a real taco shop like taco el Gordo in gaslamp but this place super disgusting and disappointing

Yelp
I was greeted by a friendly staff to check me in and he gave me a cute popsocket from @yelp elite event. Since I didn't know what soft drinks to get, he gave me a small tasting for horchata and one for hibiscus to try. So nice! Hisbicus tea was too sweet for me so decided to go with horchata because I just love horchata anyway! Took a while for my birria tacos but they were delicious. The meat was so tender and juicy in that red sauce. Yum!! I was so tempted to order more but I will save that for next time. Little Italy restaurants are always so packed so I'm glad I found one that is quick and convenient to stop by for delicious food even if it's just for snacking, dinner or out around town. The waiter gave me a pistachio ice cream at the end after I finish my tacos...like a perfect way to end a great experience. He must know I have a sweet tooth. Would definitely come back to eat more. Thanks!

Vidya P.

Yelp
My goodness. I am so glad Yelp introduced us to this place! It is a beautiful location with the string lights, and bright and clean inside! Loved the eco friendly bottle use rather than one time plastic use cups for their drinks. The service was impeccable and they were so kind and accommodating. The drinks - esp the Mexican coke -was to die for! The birria tacos were amazing. The fresh cilantro and onion in each bite was amazing. I could have had a few More!!! I would highly recommend!!!

Yelp
Yelp lead me to this adorable spot in Little Italy for some authentic Mexican cuisine. Customer service was on point, the two young ladies at the counter were very helpful and patient while I got my order together. I ordered two Birria tacos, an order of adobada fries, a lime paleta, and a Jamaica drink. Given yesterday was a really hot day for SD winter, the lime paleta and Jamaica drink hit the spot! Refresher and good flavor. My food in the other hand, I'm sad to say did not hit the spot. The Birria was so tender and juicy looking, I was super excited but was disappointed by the lack of flavor in the meat :/ Lime juice and salsa helped but still. Maybe I should have asked for consomé to dip them in? As for the fries, the toppings were very tasty. The meat, guac, and cheese were plentiful which is a bonus. However the fries themselves are also really big, soft, and bland. I personally like a little crunch and flavor so these weren't a hit for me. I feel like maybe trying nachos would have been a better option? Not sure I'll be back to test that theory. They have a wide assortment of paletas so if I came back it might to try more flavors of those. Pros: customer service, location, quantity of food Cons: Lack of flavor specifically on Birria and fries

Beverly K.

Yelp
Easy to walk to this location. Plenty of tables to eat outside. I am a fan of their al pastor tacos. I prefer them, over the Birria one in this photo. Al pastor is on the left. No parking out front as usual in Little Italy, but quick happy friendly service here at this location. We needed a good local taco shop amongst all of the Italian restaurants. I still need to try their beans. Next time......

Yelp
I have given this place so many chances but today was my last straw. I live in the neighborhood so I come here often. Less than a month ago they promote having breakfast so I tried to call to place an order, no answer. I go to order takeout online and get the breakfast burrito but it won't let me do so. I'm really busy working remotely so I figured I'd go down and order and bring my laptop. Once arriving the doors were locked at 11am. Their yelp page says they open at 9am. It took me two times to get the worker to come to the door who told me they stopped serving breakfast. Aside from this terrible experience, the food is SO boring. There is no flavor, the quesadilla is underwhelming, the tortillas are horrible and don't even get me started on the salsa. My advice would be to really evaluate the food menu options and quality. Make sure your online presence is synced up with your operation, look at more options on the menu. Make sure your hours are up to date. Decide if you want to serve breakfast or not. Change your salsa completely. it is the true only cheap and easy option in little Italy, but it is not living to the potential. I hope the owner makes these changes because I doubt this will be around much longer if he doesn't.

Kapo K.

Yelp
4 stars and I feel I am being a bit generous. Mostly the meat didn't stand out, especially the chicken and birria felt dry. It was mostly a mundane tacos experience. The prices where reasonable but I had 5 star tacos experience in San Diego so comparatively I felt a shortfall in some areas. I wouldn't say bad experience but not enough for me to travel for.

Chelsea K.

Yelp
On our Mexican food crawl in San Diego, we came across La Taqueria Tijuana whilst roaming around the streets of Little Italy. While you might not expect a Mexican restaurant to be on the same streets of a town known for a Italian food, here we were. The interior is quaint and is the epitome of a modern Mexican restaurant in San Diego. We got the extra crispy tripa taco but it didn't exactly taste like tripe; rather like a crunchy and chewy snack. I will say that if you don't like multi textured foods or innards this isn't for you, but there are a good selection of other meat choices.

Jonathan S.

Yelp
Legit vibes and food here. Not expecting a delicious taco shop in the middle of little Italy but I'm glad it's here. Worked down the taco menu and didn't have one miss. Flavors are fresh and the staff was nice. And of course washed it all down with a Mexican coke.

Aja A.

Yelp
Really delicious vegan option. Great price and service for Little Italy. I wasn't expecting much but the nopales (cactus) were really well prepared as were the homemade beans and guacamole. Tacos and tostadas highly recommended that's all I tried but I bet a vegan burrito is great. The salsa was even better. Really tasty, I'll be back. Cheaper prices if you pay in cash. Es una opción vegana muy buena. Buen precio y servicio en Little Italy.

Jason L.

Yelp
After spending a few hours lurching around various Little Italy drinkeries on my boss's dime, I had worked up quite an appetite. I had also worked up a bit of a slur on account of the boozing. Combine the two and you get this good looking gent swaggering into a taco shop hunting sustenance while not having full function of my faculties. I ordered two birria tacos, or at least I thought I did. It's one of those places where you order at the counter then they bring you your food. When the counter girl came by with a burrito, I was perplexed but also buzzed so hey, let's eat! The birria tacos..er, I mean, burrito was huge and delicious. Fresh beef, tons of veggies and dripping with sauce. Maybe the universe knew what I really needed. Clean place, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and a staff that'll tolerate you even if you've slightly overindulged in the devil's spring water.

Yelp
FOOD WAS GOOD! That's not the problem. Thought I'd try their tacos for Taco Tuesday, since it was rather empty when I walked by last night and I like supporting local small businesses. It was my first time here so I asked what some of the less mainstream items were, such as Buche. Cashier tells me it's basically carnitas but crispy. Wow, sounds great, so I order that along with 2 other tacos. When I got the receipt, I saw I was overcharged because she rung one of the tacos up as something else. Since I've never tried a Mulita I decided to keep it -seemed like a hassle to fix the issue as I saw her calling for someone in back. Food arrives, looked better than expected. Tacos had good portions of meat and real guacamole. Taste was great! Then I tried the Mulita with Buche. First thought, why does it look strange? Second thought, why does it taste gamey? Quickly text a few friends asking if they knew anything about how Buche should taste. No response. What was I expecting, it's dinner time after all. I Google -my eyes almost fell out of my head!!!!! It's not crispy shredded pork, as I was lead to believe....IT'S PORK STOMACH LINING!!!!!!! I was so disgusted that I threw it out immediately and went home to brush my teeth. It was too late to stick my fingers down my throat to remove it. I'm sure it's a delicacy to some but definitely unnerving for someone not accustomed to it. I felt completely duped! Why would you have someone working the front that can't describe your items properly?? If she can't describe it right, she should say she doesn't know or can't describe in ENGLISH. That would have been better than what happened! DISAPPOINTED. BAD EXPERIENCE. NOT HAPPY AT ALL! On top of this, they charged me $2 for a small water that costs less than a quarter. I thought I was getting the nice glass bottled water that was presented on the counter, but nope, it was the cheap plastic bottle -free ones you get at car dealerships.

Yelp
The place has so much potential, that its sad that it cant capitalize on it. Great ideas for food poorly executed, the tortillas are hand made not a lot of taco shops these days have that, but they are undercooked. The salsas are mediocre at best, and i understand a lot of places are understaffed these days, but the food shouldnt take that long to get and serve it cold. Again a good idea concept, a high quality place that fails to deliver.

Emmett T.

Yelp
This new taco joint in Little Italy must have had some staff issues last weekend because there were a few other less than stellar reviews posted for visits on the 24th and 25th. Eight different meats/cuts along with a veggie offering were available as the filling for tacos, burritos, tostadas, quesadillas, mulitas, tortas, etc. The tacos were of the street size variety, but the price was quite high at $3.50 each. Most casual Mexican spots keep the cost at under $3 apiece for street tacos. I ordered three tacos to-go... adobada, birria, and buche. There were two groups of customers ahead of me in line. All of us had a significant wait before our respective food was ready. A trio of street tacos should not take more than 5 to 10 minutes to assemble. Mine took nearly half an hour before my number was called. There seemed to be two employees working the kitchen, but I couldn't understand why the service was so slow at 8 pm in the evening. When I got home to begin eating, the buche meat turned out to be very salty. It was to the point that I could not finish that taco which is rare for me. The adobada and birria tacos tasted just fine. I understand they have been open for less than a month, but these execution issues should be ironed out by their third weekend of business. What also annoyed me was that they added a 4% surcharge to the total on the bill. If the price for one taco is closer to $4 than $3, then they should be full size rather than street size.

Yelp
The newest hot taco spot in Little Italy, San Diego just opened the doors and I knew I has to check out this place to give my honest review of the food and ambience! Located off Kettner in the Broadstone apartments on ground level lays La Taqueria Tijuana. The place is open from the morning all the way until midnight so most definitely there can be some late night snacking. They offer indoor and out seating as well with a nice vibe and great smells from the kitchen while waiting for your food. I went ahead and ordered the California burrito with a Pina drink. I waited roughly around 10 minutes until my order was fully processed and was greeted with a smile with a bag and salsa in my hands. As I arrived at home to open my hidden gem I noticed a beautifully fat wrapped burrito in foil that was nice and hot and was excited to open it up. As I unraveled the greatness I found something I could smash all night. Quick time first bite I dug into it and the burrito was beautiful then ever with a nice ratio with lard to flour and tender cuts of beef and the smoothness of the creamy guacamole layered under the freshly fried French fries I knew I was in heaven with the Mexican cheese blend covering everything inside and out. This place will definitely get you excited about Mexican food in Little Italy while the prices you pay here wont be the same as any other you are still in for a treat. Supply and demand is what you call it and overall they win! Make sure you check out this place out for there tacos, carne asada fries, and tortas because I know I will!

Yelp
This place offer some good down to earth border town eats that you will find along the border cites along the United Stated and Mexico Border, not to mention items that you would find down in old Mexico as well. I had a pair of Al Pastor tacos at $3.50 a piece. The tacos were simply and very similar to the ones you would find in nearby Tijuana, Tecate, and Mexicali, Mexico. They came with the properly prepared and sliced marinated pork meat, chopped cilantro and white onion, and a simple guacamole seasoned with salt all on a corn tortilla. Oh yes, don't forget the side of hot sauce! The port meat was very tasty and tender. I loved the guacamole which represented a simple yet effect preparation. Both the green and red hot sauce were quite good and offered a mild pleasant heat. I look forward to trying some of their other tacos, mulitas, and breakfast burrito. Service was nice. The young lady at the counter was very sweet.

Oso L.

Yelp
Have yet to be disappointed! The mulitas and tacos are fantastic!! Everything I've had there is delicious.

Luis F.

Yelp
love the location on kettner, must get the adobada torta, the bread they use for sure is the difference. parking in this area is very difficult but the food here is worth it. you will avoid peak crowds here if you visit during the week. great value and great food after exploring all the local bars in the area.

Tania T.

Yelp
Late night snacks as we arrived in SD. Had the adobada and carne asada tacos with a Mexican Coca Cola and the go to Jarritos. Perfect blend of the marinated pork with the tasty beef all in one! Price is & service was good. Will be back for another late nite snack!

Alejandro M.

Yelp
Horrible carne asada burrito. Small. Overpriced. Not fresh steak. Smelly meat. Not going back anymore. Bye.

A F.

Yelp
Very disappointed in both Grub hub and LTT. First time trying both services and neither one came through. I was never able to get a hold of the restaurant at all. We originally wanted to do carry out, but weren't sure about the location because we were visiting, so we tried the delivery service. Our order went from 30 minutes to an hour and 30 minutes.... Then again to another hour.... By this time I was told to contact Grubhub support via email and did so, but they weren't able to locate our delivery person.... Imagine that, and I was gonna tip the driver 20$ for the delivery but they never brought it. All hubbub was able to do was apologize and give a $5 future order credit.... This is the first and last time I ever use Grubhub

Reyes A.

Yelp
They close at 12am but made us order to go and eat outside. We arrived before 10:50 and he said they close at 12 but have to close before 11:30. It didn't make sense. We ate on the tables of a neighboring restaurant. Even the food we dropped wasn't eaten by the roaches. Now to the food, so gross. Esos ni son tacos auténticos compa. You're better off driving to Tijuana and eating the real thing. The adobada wasn't real adobada. Definitely wasn't on the trompo before it was served. The food was cold. The carnitas taste old. Everything was gross. The only good thing was the tortilla. If you're Mexican and want real Mexican tacos you should stay away. No matter how much Mexican decorating you add this place will never be authentic. Lazy workers and disgusting food!

Ivy E.

Yelp
This place was the first place I had tacos upon landing in San Diego. I was staying in Little Italy for the first month I was here and noticed after perusing several parts of the city that tacos are a common staple and abundant. I didn't have a lot of money at the time so being able to get two tacos and a drink for under $15 was super clutch. My first time here I got a veggie taco and a chicken taco along with a tamarindo Jarrito. They took a while to make and was served past the time they quoted me, but it was in the middle of dinner rush hour so I wasn't too pressed. Each time I've been here, the food is always great although it does take them a while to make. If the owner, is present he will greet you and is responsive. He even reposted my story on Instagram. I've brought several friends here and they love it too. And the burritos are literally two in one!

Yelp
Completely skippable. We've given this place a second chance many, many times because it's so conveniently located - but recently decided we're done. The food is just okay, but it seems like each time there's something wrong (they're out of a key ingredient like carne asada or a certain menu item isn't available that day). Once we wanted to get nachos and they were out of chips. So, being the solution-oriented person that I am, I went next door to Cafe Gratitude, bought a side of chips, and returned asking for the nachos and they ultimately made it work but were so rude about it.

Yelp
Stopped by Taqueria Tijuana while staying in Little Italy for a couple night. We were looking for a quick and yummy lunch. I ordered two if their carne asada tostadas, they were good and the tostada crunchy. They are in the smaller side so def order 2 or more depending on hinge level. My husband had their tacos carne asada, birria and adobada. The birria was definitely among the tastier ones. You can order tacos on either flour or corn. They have various Mexican sodas available for drinks. All in all good, and a good option for non taco shop Mexican food in Little Italy.

Yelp
What an awesome restaurant, with ample seating indoor and outdoor! Loved the ambiance and the cleanliness of the place. The server was so helpful and kind in explaining the different drinks, and told me a little bit about the place too. The tacos were UNREAL. They were so flavorful and the meat was tender and the Birria was unctuous. So very good. The Jarritos mango was also delicious. The salsa was nice and spicy! Would very HIGHLY recommend! Especially after an evening out in downtown!

Yelp
I used to live in San Diego and that is one thing about sd is their carne asada chips or fries. I go often to visit familia and friends, I happened to stumble on this place from the farmer's market. It was very Mexican and enjoyed it. The food was simple and to the point! Support your local merchants and businesses.

Yelp
This lil spot was packed in as trees full of done in restaurants and bars. I thought it was going to be great. Sadly it was Basic. I ordered nachos which were huge but most of chicken tasted like burnt ends. My cheese (which was pleasantly fresh shredded) was just tossed between room temp chips. They do not skimp on toppings. Portions are hearty but it was disappointing. Cheese didn't melt and ninjas to microwave them. Maybe they're e better when you dine-in My date had a burrito and although it was hot and full, he ended up including the one thing he hates guacamole. And yes we asked them Not to put it. Being from LA and so close to TJ I was expecting so much more. Doubt we will go back

Yelp
I got couple of Birria taco, the meat was so tender and got nice flavor. I really enjoyed the flavor and juiciness of taco each time I dipped my taco in a sauce!!!! I also loved the crunchiness of Tripa taco! This place is good for casual quick meal , we will definitely go back again!

Yelp
This was my first time picking up second maybe third time being here usually do delivery so those are two options you do have it is very nice by the way located near the heart of Little Italy, Well-maintained clean and filled with many traditional Mexican decorations and of course the food and drinks very authentic as well. During this visit I did notice there is limited seating The restaurant has a few table tops very intimate two seat and four seats Tables and a large bar seating. During this visit I ordered a Carne Asada torta! Let me tell you, if carne Asada is what you like? This is were to go!! The bread that it is in perfectly toasted and carne asada is savory and delicious!! Must visit if you're in the area I didn't even mention the carne asada fries that I got the last time I ordered delivery!! Definitely another delicious item I think I'm gonna go back and get those again now that I think about it !!!

Yelp
I wasn't really wowed by the tacos here. Service was great, the shop very clean and well run. Our food was ready quickly, but the meat was hard and chewy, pretty fatty. I didn't really enjoy their salsa's either, the tortillas were also just OK. They did have a nice selection and the place itself was great, I just hope the food would be better.

Yelp
I don't see why there are any complaints. The service was friendly and helpful. We only got tacos. The server recommended the burria prepared traditional on a dipped tortilla with cheese. I had the mixed meat one and my companion had carnitas which were all juicy and flavorful. Loved it.

Yelp
I don't post many yelp reviews but I feel like I had to for these guys. I see a lot of negative reviews and cannot relate in the slightest. Their food is fire and they are one of the only spots in little Italy you can count on for great mexican food day or night. I love the way the menu is simplified to choose any meat in any form you want, unlike other spots where the menu is 800 items long and a struggle to get through. Here you can mix and match whatever flavors you want. They have an excellent selection and also a great assortment of drinks and snacks/tasty treats. Also, I've always had amazing service and the food is always out so quickly without the quality suffering. The vibe is welcoming and laid back, which is exactly what Little Italy is missing most of the time. 5/5- I love this place and they can take my money any day P.S. If you're ever a little tipsy or hungover- get their fries and make sure to try a new meat each time, you won't be let down

Yelp
Tacos, tacos, and more.... San Deigo has a pool of amazing street tacos. Nestled in little Italy La Taqueria Tijuana has paid parking in the front as well as a beautiful patio made for the pandemic that makes the Taqueria's in door and outdoor ambience perfect for sunny San Diego. (Tip if you park a block away you can find free parking). As you walk in to the left is a large mural and in front of the cash register is an abundance of fun treats. The menu is painted on the wall and although it looks simple for a more detailed menu it's easier to look online if your unfamiliar with words on the menu. I went on Wednesday around 3:30. Parking was a breeze and the staff was so sweet. I had 3 tacos that came with lime slices and red/green salsa. The salsa isn't as spicy as I like, but had great flavor. The tacos were so juicy the flavor was bursting out physically as well as all over in my mouth. The birria tacos. Birria is typically a savory Mexican stew and that's is exactly what I felt I got in this taco. Hours of flavor seeping out. The tacos were filled to the brim leaving no aspect of the corn tortilla untouched with ingredients. After in-hailing all 3 tacos with a large glass of horchata I couldn't leave without a Paleta perfect for the random sunny day. Hands down the best Paleta. I am not a sweets person and I could drink that one up. Man I am so sad it's gone! My pup and I loved the outdoor seating with fresh air the view of little Italy and the delicious tacos. I will for sure be back and look forward to try more on the menu.

Yelp
In a city that prides itself in its Mexican food and tacos you will occasionally stumble upon places that disappoint. For me this happens more often than not and opt to skip places to avoid disappointment and stick to going to Mexico for authentic and delicious tacos. The problem with going to Mexico is the long boarder lines to get back. I can't speak on their entire menu but can speak on their birria tacos which were a delight. The issue with most birria tacos I've had is their lack of flavor and they are always dry. They have no seasoning, chewy and an utter disappointment. Their tacos were surprisingly delicious. Super juicy and lots of flavor. I also appreciated they had veggie options for those wanting to eat cleaner. I have had better veggie tacos but these were pretty good. It appears their specialty is in their meats. I find it surprising to find delicious Mexican food in what is known as the heart of Italian food in San Diego. They have indoor and outdoor seating which was pleasant. I ordered Jamaica which was also delicious. One common mistake places make is that its too sugary or syrupy. The drink was refreshing, salsa good and good tacos. Next taco craving I have I can confidently go to la taqueria to enjoy a flavorful and filling delight without having to cross the boarder. I finished the meal with an ice cream. Their ice cream selection is similar to what one might find from a traditional paletero man. There's nothing bad I can say about this place and would recommend you give it a try. Of course nothing will beat getting food from the motherland and I hate nothing more than being disappointed and this place did not disappoint.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this taco spot late night and was very pleased! The Al pastor taco was so delicious, I ordered a second! A little on the oily/greasy side but delicious and comes with a healthy portion of guac on top! My friends got the birria tacos and carne asada fries. They said the birria was delicious as well but the carne asada fries could have used more generous toppings cause they were a little dry.

Yelp
I've been to this place 3 times now and everytime I've gotten something different and every time I have been disappointed. It's mediocre at best. There's absolutely no flavor and it's bland. The service is always sweet though! It's a shame. This place has such potential. I hope they get a new chef. I'm sure the cooks could figure out a better recipe.

Yelp
Thank you for Yelp Elite's invitation to visit a new taqueria in the DTSD area! Carne Asada Tacos & Mulita: Chucks of perfectly cooked carne asada. Sauces prepared well. Just wanted more spice! Mulita was well balanced with cheese, the juiciness of the meat. Adobado Tacos: Decent adobado tacos; the meat was sweeter for my preference. & somewhat dry. Birria Tacos with Consome: Birria tacos were packed with meat and served with a hearty side of dipping broth. The meat was a little dry for my preference and wanted more flavor with the consome. Aguas Frescas: Pina & Jaimaca were refreshing with perfect sweetness. Service was friendly and welcoming; however, tacos were (reasonably) served in two parts and waited a little longer for the birria tacos that were made to order.

Yelp
Omg! So delicious and juicy! The tacos were delicious. Talk about authentic Mexican tacos. Would recommend coming here and having some of the best tacos you'll ever have here in San Diego.
