Service was substandard. The waitress barely spoke English and we had a difficult time understanding each another. The waitress took away the menu before I had ordered. I gave her my selections from memory. She gave me the wrong drink and forgot the queso. When I got the “queso,” it wasn’t queso at all. It was a yellow nacho cheese sauce out of a can. The food wasn’t much better. I travel quite a bit and eat at a lot of Mexican restaurants. This one is in the bottom 20%. It was well below the quality of its price range.

Google
I had the steak fajitas, which were very good. My son had the chicken with mushroom gravy and it was amazing! The chicken was so tender and the gravy was heavenly! When I am back in town on my next business trip, my son and I will have dinner here again! Our waitress was very nice!

We enjoyed this place. We had the Chimichanga and enchiladas. They were good. Enchiladas were supposed to come with green tomamatilo sauce but showed up with red. They were out and did not tell us. That is why only 4 stars. It is also not cheap. Chips and salsa were good. I would recommend this place.

First, I didn’t understand why such a nice location, nice place but they have only 2 tables full on Friday night. Then I understood why. Employees are nice but the owner weirdo. I asked a nice dish plate that I saw on their photos online, server was new and she couldn’t guess it so she called her boss and when he came to my table, he was rude, unprofessional and weird. He told me, it’s special and it’s not on the menu. And he was acting like he own the entire city. I won’t go there again. Appetizers arrived after main dish. They were just okay taste. I won’t recommend this place to anyone who want to have nice dinner.

Outstanding customer service, very authentic when it comes to flavor, generous amount of food. I definitely recommend

Google
Large restaurant with hand sanitizers at each table. Chips and salsa delivered upon arrival. Both were delicious. Food presentation was nice. Food was decent. It is a bit pricey. Pupusas were only pork and cheese or just cheese. Those were the only things that were not good.

Google
Comprehensive Review: Food- They serve a big portion! Ordered the Sopa de Gallina (chicken soup) and the Maranon (cashew juice). Breaking up the chicken and veggies into bite size pieces was a manageable and lowkey annoying surprise. The meal and drink tasted original, fresh, light, and authentic - reminded me of home :-). Not a fan on the veggie rice. Highly recommend for a rainy or sick day. Service- Server was kind, helpful, and attentive. Place- Entrance had musty odor (probably from the wet carpet due to the rain). The rest of the place had a neutral smell. There's a small bar close to the entrance. Bathroom smelled floral, and sink area was clean, did not check or use stalls. Overall- Pleasant experience, tasty and authentic food, and friendly service.

Google
Staff was very nice.food was just OK. I'm usually pretty OK with most any Mexican food but this one was not my favorite. Had a beef burrito, it was pretty bland, tortilla was all soggy. Aside from the food the music was really loud so we yelled at each other to be heard or sat on silence. They did turn it down for us but a few minutes later turned it back up. Free parking in lot out front and prices were pretty standard. Do they think you'd expect a bad experience but definitely better options around.

Yelp
Chicken tacos, guac, salsa were tasty Basic dining setup.. good for small and large groups Our waitress didn't know English much, didn't know the menu, didn't number the orders, didn't take the correct orders... by the time other staff decided to help her our orders were delayed messed up or never submitted. Took 45mins to never receive drinks even water.. We had reservations for a large group not sure they didn't assign proper staffing. Venture out on your own curiosity

Yelp
Huge portions and quick service! Plenty of leftovers here, I gave four stars since they were out of guacamole and it was earlier in the day.

Yelp
Pretty good food. The guacamole and salsa were really fresh and tasty, the chicken enchiladas were good too. The server was attentive. A little pricey but yummy.

Yelp
Food is amazing! Services is great and the atmosphere is very Latino-banda authentic. Really cool place. (the only bad review is for my credit card that did work lol) - La Terraza, recommended 100%!

Yelp
L is for La Terraza: I visited La Terraza with a friend on Friday, 6/17. I was needing to eat healthy to lose weight and was able to find something that would work for me here. Server was nice, but she didn't know English, which was frustrating to me. My friend was fluent in Spanish, but the server should be able to speak English in America. Regardless, the service was fast, and she was cordial. The chicken, salad, & veggies were favorable as well.

Yelp
The shrimp ceviche is delicious. Literally the best I've ever had and I absolutely love the mixed fajitas. Service is always friendly. Do note, the staff speaks Spanish predominantly but with patience and Google translate you'll be just fine. I frequent this spot and hang at the bar. Always try the ceviche you will not be disappointed!

Yelp
The Menudo was so good. A server was excellent. She went over and beyond to service and the prices I couldn't believe it. It was right we'll go back there. That's my new weekend spot.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I visited La Terreza and ordered tacos Al carbon and an enchilada. I was immediately pleased by their house made salsa that came with chips. So good. The food was so filling and flavorful. It was certainly the authentic Mexican restaurant experience that I have been searching for in Northern Virginia. We had the most wonderful server who was extremely attentive during our visit. I would love to come back here for drinks in the future.
google avatar

Yelp
I've had better authentic Mexican food. I didn't like that my enchiladas were made with flour tortillas and they were very salty. The beans were also salty. I did love the pico de gallo. I just moved to the area and was looking for a go to authentic Mexican cuisine spot. Maybe I'll come Back and try something else since the waitress who helped me was very welcoming. But the food was a no for me.

Yelp
Drinks were really great. The guacamole appetizer was amazing. We sits at the bar the bartender was very nice and attentive with a genuine smile. I'd have come here with friends because the atmosphere it's always great. I have meet the owner they great people. Why only 4 stars become this time around the bar have the louder music ever i could hear my friend talk i almost lost my voice. Excellent food i will keep coming back good times.

Yelp
Great food excellent service, I loved it and I'm happy how Flor served our table she was very friendly and attentive to our requests thank you so much will be happy to come back

Yelp
Do not go here at night. They are always understaffed knowing they have big parties always coming in. The DJ is so loud you can't speak to each other. When asked to lower the volume a bit, the DJ turned it down and then put it back to normal volume. We waited 20 minutes to be asked what we wanted to drink without any menus. We waited another 20 for the drinks and finally got the menus. Chips are always stale and the drinks are 80% ice.

Yelp
This is my first unexpected visit to LaTerraz Bar & Grill locates at 4716 King St Alexandria. I was going to TGI Friday for their $20 Fest, what a mistake and what a great recovery LaTerraz turned out to be. Thank you Victor for your welcome. The food was delicious. It felt like home cooking. Victor you and your staff changed my down day to sunshine thank you. If you're reading this, do yourself a favor and dine at LaTerraz.

Yelp
Really slow when I stopped in around 5 pm on a weekday. No big deal to me, though. I ordered a ground beef chimichanga. It was lackluster and honestly reminded me of a sloppy joe. I'd eat here for convenience but I definitely wouldn't seek it out.

Yelp
I want to give this restaurant more stars because it seemed authentic and our server was a sweetheart, but unfortunately the food left much much much to be desired! The margaritas we ordered tasted like melted lipgloss, and closer to a Slurpee than a real frozen marg. The strawberry was much to syrupy and the mango tasted strongly of cheap tequilas. My friend ordered the carne Asada and it looked very low quality, like Grade C/D meat. The texture was stringy and near indiscernible, while drowning in grease. The side of rice was bland and totally lacking flavor that one expects from Mexican fare while the side of vegetables was also bland and basic. The beef soup looked hearty due to the large meat and veggie chunks but the clear broth and lack of seasoning once again made it a total let down.

Yelp
If you're searching for authentic tacos that come with cebolla and cilantro, this is not your go-to. Service is quick but expect to pay for overpriced tacos. Three tacos are $16. THREE! I wish I could blame COVID for overpriced tacos but reading through older reviews, tacos have been priced in the $15 dollar range. However, you'll get a pretty nice size taco, double layer corn tortilla served with guacamole, pico de gallo, and sour cream. I was really hoping for some al pastor or barbacoca tacos BUT these don't seem to be popular in Alexandria. Order the chicken tacos - well seasoned and thoroughly cooked! Side Note #1: You'll have to order arroz and frijoles as side dish because they aren't included in your taco order. Side Note #2: Be prepared to be disappoint with their horchata. Side Note #3: There's a shortage in hole in the wall taco places in Alexandria. Taconazo or La Pasadita have to make their way to VA!

Yelp
*2 stars for food and 5 stars for service* Food:Looks much better than it tastes. I've only been to this establishment one time because I live in the area and I was craving authentic Mexican food. If this place is aiming for authentic Mexican food...this is not it. The food tasted more Tex-Mex than anything and the chicken used for my enchiladas was not the best. Actually, the chicken enchiladas tasted similar to those at Chili's. Alcoholic beverages are offered at the bar as well as on the menu. On a better note, the free chips and salsa was great. Service:The service was the next best thing during my experience here (maybe because I was the only patron in the dining area). Ambiance: Hispanic music can be heard coming through the speakers while one eats. The music isn't over powering so it is nice. The restaurant is a nice size in the inside with a small area for dancing if you'd like. The place is also clean. Value: Pretty nice value for a complete meal that includes free chips and salsa! I spent about $11 (including tax) on 2 chicken enchiladas, rice, and beans. I was a little disappointed because I visited the restaurant around 5:30 on a weekday and there was not a happy hour going on. Location: This place is located on the busy part of King Street, but there is a great amount of parking spaces in their private lot.

Yelp
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I repeat do not do not come here. First, the music was crazy loud I couldn't hear myself think. The chips that come to the table were stale. When I finally got my margarita there wasn't an ounce of alcohol in it. It was purely sour mix. Then the "crispy chicken tacos" were in stale taco shells. Did I mention this place was horrible. When I complained I was told I could not get a refund. Long story short. Run I'm serious run from this establishment.

Yelp
It began to rain briefly after putting in our orders. Instead of offering us the option to cancel our orders or even to go boxes (which would have been the bare minimum), they proceeded to serve us the food in the pouring rain and laugh at us as we attempted to enjoy our meal in the weather conditions. They also were able to move everyone else in the restaurant underneath the umbrella (who were only drinking, not eating) besides us. Workers were completely rude and disrespectful. Would not recommend, customer service was beyond disappointing for underwhelming food and drinks.

Da'Vette J.

Yelp
This place is pretty great, and the food is very tasty! I was able to speak the very little Spanish that I know to get through the meal which was awesome! My boyfriend had the steak quesadilla (which I had half of), and I had the chicken chimichanga (which he had half of). We will definitely be back! Gracias por el gran servicio!

Brooke J.

Yelp
You feel like you've come home from the minute that you walk through the door. I really wanted to pick a local family owned option during the new COVID surge. If we want these businesses to exist next year, we need to support them. I am very glad that I spent my $15 at La Terraza instead of Five Guys or Popeye's. For the same price, you're getting a lot more. I wasn't sure what to expect after reading the other reviews, but I'm glad that I thought other people were just being picky. The server had no problem giving me a to go order. They had me in and out of the restaurant in less than 20 minutes at lunchtime. What I got was a generously portioned steak quesadilla. Inflation has hit beef particularly hard, so I expected far less meat in my portion than what I received. I also didn't expect multiple types of cheese. With this much cheese, I thought it would be very greasy, but I'm glad it wasn't. It was there, but it wasn't overwhelming. The guacamole could have used a little lemon or lime and a bit of salt, but they give you an awful lot of it. They also gave me an entire box of tortilla chips that I'll be nibbling on all week. Since you can't award half stars on Yelp, this place gets a 4 instead of a 3.5. If you're used to the southwest, this won't shine. On the other hand, if you've been to other places in town at a minimum this restaurant holds its own.

Yelp
First time here and I have to say that my pre-meal impression was not great. Filthy windows, weak margaritas and canned soda - no fountain? My Sprite tasted as if it had been sitting out in the sun for a while - it just tasted odd to me. I just got an uneasy feeling about the place when we sat down in an empty dining room. Add to that the four characters sitting in the bar area swearing up a storm in Spanish and it really set the tone for the evening. I think they used the word "Puta" about two dozen times. After a while, someone got the idea to put on some South American music to drown out the urchins. As far as beverages go, they offer alcohol or soda. How about adding lemonade to the lineup? How about install a fountain because serving beverages in cans or bottles is just tacky? We started off with a Chorizo and it was quite tasty and quite mild. Since I do not like spicy food, this was perfect for me. It came with tortilla chips, guacamole, sour cream and cheese. Delicious! My girl had the Tacos al Carbon - she asked for two of them to be soft and one crunchy and they obliged. She ate only one of the three. Why? Because she started to get sick to her stomach. WHY? Apparently their usual bartender didn't show up so they had a 19 or 20 year old girl make the margarita. Problem was that she used a smoothie glass and STRAIGHT margarita mixer NO BOOZE!!!! That made my girl throw up. Great, so my girlfriend threw up her meal and basically had nothing to eat. She did box up the remainder of her meal though. I wonder, is it even legal for an under-aged girl to make drinks? I doubt it. Poor management decision. I had the salmon and shrimp and I have to say is worthy of one full star. The food was absolutely delicious. So the bill came and they actually had the audacity to charge us for her non-alcoholic drink that made her sick. On the way out, I mentioned my issue to an older man who walked over to the manager - sitting at the bar glued to his cellphone and then came over and said "Hold on." So the manager couldn't be bothered, but this man was nice enough to give me $8 cash for the drink. I would have rated this place two stars if not for the delicious food. UPDATE: I had them box the remainder of my meal since I could not finish. I left half of the salmon and THREE pieces of shrimp. I remember saying that I wanted to have shrimp with the leftovers but when I opened the box the next afternoon, there were no shrimp. Needless to say we will never eat here again - great food or not, this place is lame.

J S.

Yelp
The food didn't knock my socks off, but was acceptable. The service was very attentive, so kudos for that. The decor is a bit odd - the owners must like birds, since the usual decor one would expect is intermixed with taxidermied birds and pictures of birds. It also was unclear why various Christmas decor was still hung up on St. Patrick's Day.

Yelp
Chimichangas and enchiladas were very good. Had a new server and she did just fine. Nice ambience and very clean. Manager didn't check on us as he should have, but it turned out good overall.

Yelp
Ordered from La Terraza on Yelp as a delivery order. My first run is that their in-house menu is different than their delivery menu. For delivery, you'll pay $15 for three tacos with no sides! You get sides if you go in. Also, they pay no attention to your notes for substitutions. I asked for beans instead of vegetables and still got vegetables. The chicken I received was oddly textured. Very cheap quality of food. It was rubbery and pulled apart like rib meat, not the chicken breast I paid for. The guacamole that I ordered was good, and so were the tacos. Just not worth anything in value. Over priced for subpar quality. The delivery was mad on time at least.

Yelp
This place felt very authentic. The food was tasty, margaritas were a bit too sour but still good. I love the ambiance and atmosphere.

Yelp
Took my mom out for dinner with the whole family and we loved it. The food was great and delicious. I will definitely be back here. Love me some Hispanic food!!

Yelp
Came here for takeout and was politely greeted at the door. I asked for a menu, and ordered grilled quails. While my food was being prepared, a gentlemen asked if I would like chips & salsa (on the house). I accepted, and greatly appreciated the hospitality of the establishment. The order came with mixed veggies, vegetable rice, and diced tomatoes. I truly enjoyed my meal. The customer service was phenomenal and I felt very welcomed. I'm definitely returning to this restaurant to enjoy other selections on the menu. -Excellent Service -Excellent Food

Yelp
My fiancé and I live not too far from this gem of a Mexican restaurant. We probably passed it almost every day for a year before even going into it and we regret not stopping in sooner. If you're looking for authentic Latino/Spanish food this place should be your go to. We tend to always get the burritos because they are just that good! The rice is made fresh and all homemade as well as the refried beans! The pricing is fantastic for the amount of food you get and they have converted the parking lot into some outdoor seating for covid friendly precautions!
google avatar

Solange F.

Yelp
Take out - I ordered a chicken burrito, specifically asked for no raw onions and add jalapeños. The food arrives with raw onions and no jalapeños. The menu description indicated that the burrito comes with spinach sauce and beans, sadly, there were neither present in my meal.
google avatar

Ivan A.

Yelp
This Mexican restaurant has great food and atmosphere. My family and I go whenever we are in the area, since we travel from Fairfax just to go eat at La Terraza! And until this moment all the dishes we have tried have been quite tasteful and yummy.. We are never disappointed. The service is good as well.. friendly smile and greetings. It has a full bar, that is always a plus! Private parking no hassle looking where to park! I highly recommend the food and atmosphere.. You will not be disappointed!
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
This restaurant was just across the street from my hotel so I gave it a try. What a pleasant surprise! It was a mid afternoon lunch so there weren't many patrons. Ordered the chicken enchiladas and finished with a tiramisu-like dessert. All very good. They even took the time for a nice presentation. I'll be back on my next busi trip.
google avatar

MJ S.

Yelp
Should have read the reviews before ordering on Uber Eats. The lomo saltado is just steak with french fries. The veggies tasted bland and frozen, the rice also had no flavor. The kicker was my guac order - I asked for extra chips and they told me "they don't have chips." I got a big blob of guac in a styrofoam container and nothing to eat it with!
google avatar

Amanda R.

Yelp
I am so happy with my order. I ordered our food and they only offered chicken meat on the nachos but because I have been to their place of business before I knew that they had steak. I left a note asking for them to put steak on AND THEY DID AND THEY DIDN'T CHARGE EXTRA! I ordered Nachos (FULL OF FOODY GOODNESS), quesadilla, and the cheese enchiladas. They arrived 15 minutes early, everything was hot and fresh and we were all full and happy. Thank you so much for making everything wonderful!
google avatar

Erika S.

Yelp
Here in VA for business. Was happy to find this place that had 'Lomo Saltado'. I LOVE lomo saltado. Unfortunately, what I recieved was not lomo saltado. What I got was steak fajitas with french fries. Delivery was faster than expected which is great. Food was edible; I was hungry. Not what I was hoping for. I understand that some places make it their own way but this had no Peruvian type flavor and the rice tasted as if it was instant. Better luck next time.
google avatar

Luis C.

Yelp
Food was excellent. Fast and courteous service. We ate fried calamari, Mexican ceviche and chicken breast and chicken quesadillas..all tasty.
google avatar

Tabitha S.

Yelp
Mediocre, over-priced and over-cooked seafood dish. Margarita was marginal, at best. Service was alright. I won't be back - and I need a good Mexican place close to the hotel I usually stay in.

Yelp
I'm Mexican and its good here, the food is authentic you will be so pleased to eat here. love it

Betty W.

Yelp
We celebrated a special achievement for a family member here. We mentioned it once that we were celebrating, they gave a special dessert and other desserts to the children to enhance the evening on the house when we were at the end of our meal. In addition the food was outstanding.

S P.

Yelp
In town on business, staying at hotel across street. I wanted something walking distance and I do enjoy Mexican/Hispanic/Latino cuisine. La Terraza was great for both food and service. It was Monday night and the place was dead. I was a party of one, but received great service and my meal of shrimp fajitas was excellent. Shrimp were large and cooked perfectly with nice "snap" in texture. Veggie mix tasted fresh and cooked properly. Sides included rice, guacamole, pisco, and whole beans as opposed to the canned refried version that seems to be typical. No beers on draft, but had two that were served ice cold and tasted great with my meal. (Victoria and Regia). I will definitely be back when in the area

Manuel J.

Yelp
I went there Saturday morning and the place have a great decoration but food was terrible, i ordered a queso fundido with chorizo and they brought me a big pieces of chorizo with slices if avocado and sour cream in the middle, the enchiladas were awful too. Too badi wont coming back to this salvadorian and mexican place

Jane M.

Yelp
Courteous staff, delicious food! Our meals were colorful and very thoughtfully prepared. The salsa was full flavored but not overly spicy. We'll be back!

Roxy M.

Yelp
Good place, good vibe! ordered tacos and they were amazing! Def recommend for good food!
