My Rome with Gabriele Muccino

"Situated in the heart of Rome’s dolce vita district between the Villa Borghese and Via Veneto, this hotel, which opened in 1889, continues to attract visitors today. When it was first opened, the One Michelin Key Hotel Eden was the first in Rome to boast a lift, electricity, heat, and running water, and the press made much of its views of the city and surrounding countryside. Nowadays, the countryside is a little farther away but the views from the hotel – especially from its La Terrazza restaurant – are as magnificent as they ever were." - The MICHELIN Guide

La Terrazza

"Situated on the top floor of the exclusive and luxurious Eden hotel, this famous restaurant boasts an elegant, hushed ambience in its softly lit dining room, as well as stunning views of Rome. Originally from Campania, chef Ciervo has been at the helm here for over 10 years (a fact that is celebrated on his classic X Years tasting menu), serving creative cuisine that aims to appeal to the eyes and the palate alike." - Michelin Inspector

Our experience at La Terrazza was absolutely exceptional, truly one of our favorite dining moments. Every plate was delectable, creative, and beautifully presented. The flavors were unique, and the entire menu felt like a celebration of Italian elegance with a modern twist. The view over Rome is exactly what you dream of romantic, inspiring, and the perfect backdrop to an unforgettable evening. But what truly elevated the night was the impeccable service, especially from Matteo, who was warm, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to make us feel special. His attention to detail and thoughtful care did not go unnoticed, thank you, Matteo! We’re already looking forward to coming back. A magical evening in every sense, from the setting to the service to the unforgettable food. Highly recommended.

the staff were professional and attentive throughout the evening. The food was very good, and you don’t necessarily need to go for the full tasting menu: a well-chosen 2 or 3 courses plus dessert is more than enough if you're not starving. The panoramic view is stunning, easily one of the highlights of the experience. They also have a nice selection of wines to pair with your meal. A refined spot for a special dinner with a great atmosphere.

Delicious fine dining food, with great options and extremely good service. The dishes are delicate, interesting and creative which results in a fantastic dining experience. The view from the restaurant is beautiful and feels intimate even when it is packed. The waiters are also extremely skilled and the restaurant is good at handling allergens. Would definitely come back again if I get the chance

This is a must visit. From the food to the service everything is perfection. Simone and Carlo our servers were amazing. They made us feel special and like we were the only guests. The food was phenomenal. They should have a Michelin star if they do not. Oh and you must try the tiramisu and basically the whole menu. The spaghetti is the best I have had anywhere. From the attention to detail to the great gestures of hospitality, you made us feel like family. We will be returning again and again. As on this visit alone to Rome we returned twice. Until next time my friends! Thank you for incredible evenings and to the chef, we thank you from the bottom our hearts for coming to meet us and for the incredible evenings. We love you La Terraza.

A very special place with a nice view! Can be considered a luxury place in Eden Hotel… this place was apparently visited by some of the biggest names in Hollywood, different actor singers and public personalities from around the world, can’t even see the pictures with autograph on the wall! There is also the redhead lady piano singer that plays amazingly and has a very nice voice! The perfect place for a special dinner or lunch or even a drink.. as an indoors and outdoors venue! Of course you have to consider the crisis to be more expensive than other places, considering the location, history and the quality of food and drink!

Top panorama of Roma from the window! The service was also amazing that they are always served with a cover then the waiters will open all the cover for four of us or let us smell the fragrance left on the cover. We took the most expensive Champagne Krug with great taste. One more thing to be mentioned is that we were stuck in the traffic and tried to call the restaurant, they help delayed our appointment accordingly. Very helpful reception!

Excellent food, exceptional service, great views! If you are so lucky to come here more than once, consider yourself very lucky person. Yes, for some it may be expensive, but it is worth every penny. Every meal is specifically explained which adds extra excitement. Wait for the deserts and see how they are prepared next to you. Please obey the dress code, I saw some not so careful about it.

Google
Truly the best fine dining experience we have ever had. The attention to detail, beautiful scenery and delicious food (along with a few chef surprises) made it absolutely worth the visit. The vegetarian set meal was fantastic, and really elevated some surprising ingredients in ways I would have never guessed. Overall, a fantastic experience.

Yelp
My wife and I had dinner here last night. Wow! Arguably the best meal of our lives. Easy to rate this meal. Ambience - 5/5: The setting was one of the nicest I've ever seen. Top floor of 6-story hotel, with sweeping views of Rome. We were right by the window but the restaurant is small enough that there is no bad seat in the house. Beautifully anointed inside as well. About halfway through our meal, the windows of the "terrace" were opened with an electric mechanism that raised and slanted the entire windowpane. Service - 5/5: Everyone from the runners to waiters to the sommelier were very friendly and helpful throughout the entire almost ~3 hour experience. Food - 5/5: we opted for the longer of the two available tasting menus, that featured 8 set courses, but when you include the various amuse-bouche dishes, it was closer to 15! Too many items to describe each one in detail but the food here was as awesome as they looked. Each one was thoughtfully presented with custom-made dishes that highlighted what was being served (e.g. urchin shaped glass with glass spikes!). The highlights for me were the scallops, the eel, and the braised beef. I will say that the menu was seafood centric, 4 of the 5 protein courses were seafood, so if one is not a fan of seafood, this tasting menu may not be for you. I can't believe I'm about to write this, but for an experience and food like this, 210 euros per person seemed very reasonable. I paired the meal with a 1997 super Tuscan wine that was "reasonably" priced as well. The eyebrow raising items on the bill were the cocktails we had, which were 42 and 28 euros respectively, pretty steep by any measure. My wife and I have now been to ~6-7 Michelin rated restaurants, and both of us agreed this one rises above them all. This will be a meal we will not soon forget. Unbelieveable!

Yelp
One of the best fine dining restaurants we have ever been to - and one of the best meals of our lives! Everything was beyond outstanding. Views: 5++++ Food: amazing. Stellar. 5++++ Service: 5++++ I can't even describe how amazing and unique the food was. It was incredible. A must-visit when in Rome. And reservations are needed.

Yelp
Perfect for celebrations and getting spoilt. There's no question about the class in dining here. You feel it right when you step in Hotel Eden's lobby to take the elevator up to the restaurant. You should be willing to spend an average of €350/$400. Cheapest item I saw on the menu was €130. We did our research to find this place and I'll say it was worth every dime. The chef kept our taste buds guessing. Definitely a highlight of our Europe trip. View is beautiful and service is excellent. They deserve their Michelin star and more. In my experience, most times presentation and taste don't mix. We did something like this in Dubai - on a cruise with beautiful views and nicely presented food but the food tasted weird and we were still hungry by the end of the night! This wasn't the case at La Terrazza! Everrryyythiinngg looked AND tasted so good. We were also very full by the end of the night. Be sure to checkout the photos! We got the harmony which is 8 courses but it felt something around 12 courses. The food just kept flowing! Even desert came in 3 courses. If you're looking for a fancy dining experience and to get a good bang for your buck, don't hesitate to book a reservation at La Terrazza!

Yelp
What an amazing Michelin star restaurant in the heart of Rome & located in the beautiful hotel Eden. We ordered the chef's 3 course tasting menu accompanied with wine pairings. The chef introduces you to flavors that your palate has probably never tasted. The interior is very contemporary & modern. The staff is bilingual & exhibit true 5 start treatment.

Yelp
What an amazing view, fantastic food and atmosphere it was at La Terrazza! Our waiter, Chiro, was excellent! and we want to thank him so much to make our experience extra special! He is such a kind person!!! Anyway, we had "harmony" tasting menu (8 courses) and also wine tasting which was 285 euro. The presentation of food at this restaurant just amazed us.. My fiance and I have been to many michelin starred restaurants all around the world, but La Terrazza can be in top 5 for sure! All the course impressed us, but we absolutely loved "Gran Riserva risotto with Franciacorta wine, oyster and rocket (+caviar!!!!)." Oyster was so fresh, yet tender. I will not forget about its taste ever. Braised beef was a bit chewy, so maybe 8/10 if I have to rate. However, I hate to give minus points, but if I have to, I will say there were 2 issues we had. First, the manager came to our table before we even ordered and told us that we can only reserve the table until 9:15pm when our reservation was at 7pm (we got there around 7:05pm). if you are serving 8 courses and also 8+glasses of wine for wine tasting, you do not ask customers to leave in 2 hours. I have never been to the restaurants that ask customers to chug the wine and leave quickly.. that was a big minus, we could have ordered simpler course menu, but hey... we are in Rome. let us enjoy our trip.. by the time we finished our 4th menu, it was already 9:00pm. enough said. Also, their majority wine was white.. we expected to have at least half white wine and half red wine. They even had white wine with meat course which I thought was very odd... but whatever, food was great. we enjoyed it. Despite of a few negative experiences we had, I will still recommend this place to anyone who is going to travel to Rome for fooooood! you will not regret spending money at this restaurant!

Yelp
Kudos to this restaurant that served a small group of high school students on a school trip to Italy (delayed 3 times due to Covid restrictions) in March 2022. My 17 year old son and 3 classmates (two young ladies and another young man) went to this restaurant after one of the young ladies researched it and recommended it to the group. All are very well traveled kids, but the two boys were "under-dressed" for this Michelin starred experience. Nevertheless, they were served one of the most fantastic meals of their lives and treated to beautiful service, food and overall experience. At no point were they looked down on due to clothing or age. I'm not sure that would have happened in the U.S. So, it is now on Mom and Dad's must-do list the next time we go to Rome. Thank you and we enjoyed the pics and story our son brought back!

Yelp
Hotel Eden was our favorite everything in Rome including the breakfast buffet, Il Giardino Restaurant and Bar and of course, La Terrazza. La Terazza is where art, food, and amazing service come together. The staff aims to please and the presentation was shear entertainment. After watching three seasons of Chef's Table on Netflix, it was thrill to live the dream. Not that the restaurant was on the series but they could be.

Yelp
While in Rome, might as well go all out on the food. I was in Italy for work and was aware that Italy had the 2nd most Michelin Rated restaurants in the world, with France being the number 1 country. After researching many places, looking at their menus, locations, and availability, my colleague and I decided that La Terrazza would be the first Michelin restaurant to visit. Really glad that we did because we had an awesome experience. First, the restaurant is located on the top floor of the upscale Eden Hotel. So at night there was a wonderful view of all that the city of Rome has to offer. The experience really starts as you walk into the hotel, since all of the hotel staff greet you and ensure you are headed the right direction. Upon checking in at the restaurant, our coats were taken to the coat room and we were quickly seated at our table. There are a couple menu options available to you for dinner. First is their 5 course tasting menu called "My Classics", or you can pick their "Harmony" menu which is an 8 course tasting menu. Just so you know both options come with 2 pre-starters complimentary of the chef and also 2 additional dessert courses, also complimentary of the chef. We opted for the Harmony (while in Rome, right?) and ended up with 12 total courses. Service was amazing and the food was really good. Our Harmony tasting included the following courses: Scallops Langoustein Sea Urchin Risotto Veal Ravioli Salmon Ribeye Tiramisu Of all the courses I would have to say (in this order) that the Veal Ravioli, Ribeye, and Scallops were my favorites of the night. We did order cocktails as part of our pre-meal and then moved into wine for the main dishes. All the drinks were on point, but I do have to mention I was disappointed wine our server poured one glass of wine and then under poured by a significant amount into the second glass. I compared the two classes and it was a huge difference - this is not something I would expect from a Michelin rated restaurant. It was nice of the chef to actually make his way around the restaurant to visit all of the tables. I thought that was a nice touch. Overall a great meal. It was a little pricey at 200 Euros per person for the Harmony tasting. Add drinks, tax, and tip on top of that and you'll walk out of there at around 300 Euros a person. I enjoyed the whole experience but I'm not sure I would do it again, as in my following days in Rome I had another awesome Michelin star rated restaurant which was even more amazing, but at a fraction of the price.

Yelp
What an experience! It was my first real "tasting" and it was amazing. Even the items I'd never typically order were unbelievable. It was an 8 course tasting with some extra "snacks". It's not cheap but worth for the service, food and overall atmosphere of the restaurant. Thank you, La Terrazza! Unforgettable!

Yelp
Incredible service. The amuse-bouche was wonderful with a wheat grass shot to cleanse the pallet. We had the X year tasting menu. It was a delicious and complex explosion of flavors! Highly recommend!!

Yelp
Food, service, cleanliness and the overall experience was worth every euro we spent ! But a HUGE plus was the service from Daniel! He went above and beyond in detail and anticipated all our needs. I really hope the management team sees this and gives him credit where it's due! I'm so happy my husband and I came here to ring in our first wedding anniversary on our last night in Rome !

Yelp
Lost Michelin star tonight The pressure, stress, and hard work it takes to earn and more importantly maintain 1-3 Michelin stars at a restaurant, is nothing short of extraordinary. While I appreciate, understand, and empathize with the workers of these restaurants (have worked at incredible restaurants myself and have trained with 3 star Michelin chefs), I can't begin to say how frustrating my experience tonight at La Terrazza was. First, I will tell you the food, service, presentation, and overall experience during my entire meal was incredible and I can clearly see why La Terrazza earned the Michelin star they have. I wish I had written down the name of my server at the restaurant, because he was amazing and exemplified what the service we would all expect at a restaurant that has a Michelin star. That being said, let me tell you about my experience with the host of the restaurant. I booked a dinner with my new fiance to celebrate her birthday - two incredibly exciting and joyous events wrapped into one fine dining experience. I emailed the restaurant ahead of time (communicated with Daria at the restaurant) to secure a window seat at the restaurant to enjoy and experience all that is beautiful with their absolutely incredible view of the city of Rome. When I arrived the host seated us at the back of the restaurant. When I let the host know the restaurant had graciously emailed me ahead of time and confirmed a window seat (so I could surprise my fiance on her birthday), he told me I was wrong and they were full. I let him know the restaurant emailed me and secured a window seat (with a signed letter for their cancellation policy and a credit card confirmation) in advance. He then went ahead and printed out half our email exchange and brought it to the table I was sitting at with my fiance and tried to call me a liar for saying the restaurant told me I had a window seat. I then showed him the email where the restaurant said I had a guaranteed window seat, he then turned to the second page of his print out and said ok and escorted us across the restaurant to the corner and seated us near the window. This was incredibly frustrating to have my honesty and integrity called out by the host, with partial print outs of an email exchange - like, that is so crazy. I tried to enjoy the rest of my meal (that we paid over $600 for) and then at the end, he came to my table and said, "Please pay your bill now, we have other people waiting for this table." While the food, our server, and most of the overall experience were fantastic, the host experience made me never want to eat at La Terrazza ever again. What an ungrateful jerk! Great chefs and restaurants know that it is us, the customers, that make their restaurants successful - and there should be mutual respect between us both.

Yelp
Amazing rooftop bar! A definite must for a late afternoon drink. We ordered martinis with blue cheese stuffed olives not realizing that is an American thing not an Italian thing. The bartender, Dominico, actually took the initiative to find pitted black olives and hand stuff them with blue cheese from the restaurant. Truly a special treat and amazing service. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Fantastic view of the city with exceptional service. If you're cost conscious you may want to skip it, but it's well worth the cost. Staff is very friendly and they have live music most days of the week. Noteworthy fact is that after 6pm, men need to wear pants.

Yelp
Wow! This was my first time experiencing a 5 course meal and I am happy it was here. We had the chefs table and the staff was soooo friendly. They explained each plate as it came out and offered us a wine pairing as well. The food was artistically displayed and they definitely played to your five senses. They have four options: three course, al la carte, five course and eight courses. One of our courses was served with a rose infused water spread aromaticly about the table to pair with the dish! The food was delicious and not your typical meal. We were offered pre dessert and chocolates in addition to our meal which left an impression. The American coffee was the best I had the entire trip in Rome. Did I mention the views??? Spectacular! Make sure you save room and visit the bar next door there too because the mixologist in the picture- is AMAZING! Def worth the time money and experience.

Yelp
Excellent service and presentation. I believe eating dinner especially at these prices should be an experience like no other so when it came to service and presentation they exceeded any previous experience I've had at any restaurant. I'm a foodie, with a decent appetite so I order a lot of dishes just so I could have a good overall perspective on how good the food actually is. Because let's face it that's why we are here. Keep going back and fourth between a four and a five. I'm going to mark this review as a 5. But if you took the time to read this review you probably care about food, so I will tell you it's a STRONG 4 to SOFT 5. Recommendation: * The Spaghetti w/ percorino and Madagascar black pepper * The Lamb was perfect. Although the slimy spinach leaf they wrap it around I could do without. It takes away from the lamb

Yelp
Haute, elegant, and exquisite. This place merits every single star, and Michelin thought the same thing when it awarded it one star in November 2012. Everything from the panorama - one of the most beautiful I've seen after living here the majority of my life - to the classy ambience to the extremely attentive staff to the very last morsel of gourmet food is breathtaking. This place is perfect for special occassions, such as winning the lottery... it breaks bank, but you're paying for the experience of a lifetime. I dined here with my family and it will be a dining experience I'll never forget! Complimenti al Executive Chef Fabio Ciervo, abbiamo passato una bellissima serata che non dimenticherò mai. Grazie!

Yelp
Amazing dinner! Spectacular views. Book reservations for best seating. We had the tasting menu for 140€ each. So delicious. Excellent service. When I commented that I loved the Amalfi Lemon Cream dessert, they brought me 2 more servings without charging us. Maybe they felt bad that a couple with a crying baby was sitting next to us. Who knows? Not a kid-friendly restaurant. That couple was nuts. Very romantic. Excellent service. Fantastic food.

Yelp
The restaurant has spectacular panoramic views of Rome. Dinner at 8:00 was perfect since we could see the city as the sun set. The city lights at night are just as spectacular. The service was very prompt and attentive, but still allowed us to take time to enjoy each moment of the tasting menu and wine pairing. Even with a full dining room the waiter always took time to discuss each dish and pairing with us. The first course was scallops served with mango and passionfruit sauce and caviar. It was paired with 2014 Jermann Sauvignon Blanc. The second course was goose fois gras with rhubarb chutney and Sauternes sauce. I was surprised when that was also paired with the sauv blanc, but the flavours worked very well. The third course was a spectacular spaghetti dish paired with 2012 Paolo e Noemi D'Amico Chardonnay. What made it spectacular was the rosebud scent that preceded the course. A mist of rosebud scent floods the table and emphasizes the scents of the food and wine. The fourth course was crusted red mullet also paired with the chardonnay. I know some diners were tempted to substitute a more familiar fish, but I recommend the chef's choice of the red mullet. The fifth course was duck two ways. It was duck breast, duck leg confit with Chartreuse sauce. That was paired with 2013 Girolamo Russo Nerello. My wife is a huge fan of duck and this was perfectly served. This was also the highlight of the wine pairings! The desserts started with a duo of granitas The first was tarragon and the second was martini inspired. These were served with moscato d'asti. The next dessert was an Amalfi lemon cream. That was followed by a yoghurt, milk and lemongrass sorbet. We finished with coffee and assorted chocolates. It was a great night of wine and food, surrounded by spectacular views and delivered with impeccable service! .

Yelp
Great food. Not inexpensive but you get what you pay for. The best view of the city of Roma. 180 degree view of the sun rising in the morning or setting at night. The food is very good. The service is excellent. I would go back anytime I am in Roma.

Yelp
Having been to some of the finest restaurants in the world it takes a lot to 'wow' A La Scott. La Terrazza Dell Eden in the heart of Rome does just that. From the spectacular panoramic views of Rome and Vatican City to elegance and culinary perfection Executive Chef Fabio Ciervo brings to the gourmet menu--this rooftop dream is an experience not to be missed. I whole heartedly recommend the gourmet menu with wine pairings. The dishes are creative, well presented and mixes wonderful complimentary favors. The wine pairings are smart and bring out the best in every dish served. The sliced marinated scallops with mango and passion fruit vinaigrette, celery sorbet and Kaluga caviar was a smooth, fresh start to dinner. It's pairing with a 2012 Longino Cardinal Riesling, Montiggl, complimented the dish well-it being smooth and crisp unlike few Reislings I know. The second course of Goose foie-gras with its supreme, rhubarb and Sauternes wine chutney made my pallet dance from the fine mixture of richness mellowed by the ever so slight tartness of the rhubarb. The delightful wash of the crisp and ever so sweet Reselling likewise complimented this dish well. The third course of porcini mushroom gnocchi with king prawns and their broth had a slight element of heartiness but like the two dishes before it, also had a mellowing aspect to it. For this dish it was the broth. Accompanied by La Foa Colterenzio 2011 Sauvignon, this course was quite well rounded in its flavors. The forth course boasted a fillet of turbot, cous-cous flavored with tarragon, citrus compote and pomme Dauphine (crisp potato puffs). Interestingly the flavors of this white fish were highlighted and made crisp and fresh by the addition of the tarragon and citrus compote, dressing up what could have otherwise been bland quite well. The La Foa Sauvignon followed suit for this course as well. The fifth and most hearty course consisted of roasted medallions of veal, it's raised shin, seasonal black truffle and lemon grass broth. This hearty dish with some strong flavor mixings was extremely well rounded likely as a result of the truffle and broth overlay. Never sacrificing on flavor, this dish was only made more outstanding by just the right amount of truffle and broth. The 2010 Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon equaled the hearty passion of the dish served. Having been brought to this zenith-the deserts both cleansed the pallet and delighted with unusual and sweet flavors. Sherbert ice, Tanquery Ten gin and lemon from Amalfi coast apricot and rosemary tatin accompanied with its sorbet, caramel sauce flavored with rosemary shows how thoughtful this dessert plate really was. From light and soothing to engrossing and sweet-all bases were covered. And speaking of sweet the L'Eeru Passito, firrato added that final and perfect element of a sweet and pretty perfect end to this fantastic dining adventure. This rare experience from start to finish is incredible and worthy of much praise. For A La Scott this is as close to a five star review as I can ever imagine giving and would go back to Roma just to do it all over again.

Yelp
What a great way to end a perfect holiday trip to the Eternal City. My husband and I dined here December 29, 2013. La Terrazza dell'Eden is located on the top floor of Hotel Eden, part of the Dorchester Collection. It is located two blocks off of the Via Veneto and very easy to find on foot or by taxi. The restaurant is expertly overseen by Executive Chef Fabio Ciervo, and earned a Michelin star in November 2012. The restaurant offers a panoramic view of the city, which is best seen at sunset...needless to say we did not get to enjoy that as it gets dark at 4.30p in Rome in December and our dinner reservation was the earliest seating: 7:30p. I imagine during the summer months the view is out of this world, because simply viewing the city illuminated in the evening was a treat. The service was top of the line - attentive, courteous, helpful, and friendly. Perhaps our lovely server could have been found to be too talkative to some, but I appreciated his light conversation. I was impressed by the wine selection and the sommelier helped us pick a bottle that would accompany our dinner perfectly (tough as we were starting with lobster and ending with lamb - that's an easy fix: champagne with lobster!). We did not do the tasting menu as it required the both of us to participate and some of the dishes would not work with my husband's food allergies. We shared an antipasta (smoked lobster), a primi (I don't remember, but I know it was good) and a secondi (lamb shoulder - perfection) and couldn't have been happier. What we ate was irrelevant - it all looked fantastic. Again, I must emphasize how great the service was. Jackets are required. And I love that. I think that enforcing a dress code for a lovely restaurant adds to the evening: "feeling" dressed up is fun and seeing other lovely diners is enjoyable. Terrazza dell'Eden is a *must-do*.

Yelp
This world class restaurant does everything right. The service was on point and masterfully coordinated. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and intimate - probably about 15 tables total. We selected the harmony tasting menu and enjoyed every part of it. I would highly recommend La Terrazza for a special dining experience.

Penny N.

Yelp
This was one of the best memorable experiences of fine dining in Rome. Between the view and the service being on point, the cuisine was balanced and the presentation enhanced the experience.

Ernesto D.

Yelp
Truly a Five Star experience and would give Six Stars if that was an option. Can't express enough how much we enjoyed the live music, the sunset view and delicacies from the chef! So glad to find this hidden gem recommended by a friend.

Yelp
We enjoyed a multi-course extravaganza with eight guests at the chefs table. Fabio, the chef is extremely talented. In my opinion this is one of the best restaurants in Rome, and approaching the level of La Pergola. A solid Michelin 2 star, in my opinion. Well done !
