In love with this restaurant! The portions are better than every other Mexican/taco place and the quality is flavorful and phenomenal. The salsas are the perfect complement. My husband and I tried it out because it is halal and we want to support but I have to say it’s one of the best. Super authentic.

Google
A taqueria with a pretty decent selection of tacos with pretty food prices. This place advertise halal prepared meals. Seats are pretty limited inside but there's decent seating at the outdoor patio. Parking is pretty limited. Al.pastor and the beef birria are good. Carne asada is okay.

Google
The food is so, so, so good. I got a few chicken tostadas as part of the $2 Thursday special and they were stacked and delicious. The tacos also did not disappoint, I cannot wait to try more of those.

Google
Ordered a birria taco 6/10 and mixed quesadilla 8/10. Food was good however it was too greasy for what I usually like. Good service, they gave us a free churro, that was nice of them.

Google
I ordered the Lengua tacos. They are juicy and nicely seasoned. The place is small. But for a quick bite of delicious food, it does the job.

Google
Without a doubt, hands down, the best tacos around. There's a reason it ends up on so many top tacos in D.C. lists. You can easily get out of here for less than $20 for two people, and still feel full. How many places around here can you say that about? Service is good, tacos are brimming with meat, no skimping, and are just delicious. You might wait a bit longer if you order dine-in due to popularity, so ordering to-go sometimes will be faster. Either way, you won't be sorry.

Google
Absolutely love La Tingeria. I had been bugging my husband to come try, when we saw a video of them on a halal eats channel on TikTok. We didn’t know if it was gonna be super great, since usually, other cuisines that serve completely halal fall short on authenticity of flavors. Having lived in south Texas for 4 years, this was the Mexican food I have been missing. The shop is small, buzy, but still cozy. The food as evident in the video looks delicious, but tastes even better than it looks. Also, their tres leches is better than any I’ve had in so long. I hope this business is able to eventually move into a larger location to be more convenient with parking but until then, we will continue to support this business.

Google
Wanted to give this place a shot since I've been trying to find new taco spots around my area. La Tingeria was highly recommended, so why not give it a try. The Food: The tacos were amazing. I got the Tinga Beef, Tinga Chicken, Lengua, and the Al Pastor. The meats were nice and tender, and also very juicy. The cilantro/onions were good toppings to pair with the meats. They were filled up pretty good for the price as well. The Service: Service was good. Staff here were friendly and they bring your food to you at your table. Otherwise, they call your name on the intercom to pick up. But the food came out at a reasonable amount of time. The Atmosphere: This spot is kind of small inside, not many tables to sit at, but they do have outdoor seating available as well. Overall, a nice taco spot that looks like it's setup to be more of a take out restaurant. Parking is somewhat difficult as well, and you may have to park in the neighborhoods if it gets too busy. Overall, a 5/5. Would highly recommend giving this place a try. Tacos are absolutely delicious!

Yelp
What an incredible gem of a place to eat. Their birria tacos are fantastic. Get the cheese with them, it really makes for a special taco! Queso was creamy and flavorful, elote was crunchy and fresh. I tried their tostadas and their tacos and both were great, as good as any of the little taco stands you'd get in California or Texas. The service is quick and polite. There isn't much space to eat inside, but there are some picnic benches outside. It can get busy, but people usually eat pretty fast so tables clear out qucikly. After years of searching, I've finally found my taco spot in NoVa!

Pam D.

Yelp
This was our first visit to La Tingeria in Falls Church. I got the Birria Beef, Tinga Chicken, and Hal Pastor tacos with Elote, and my son got the Carne Asada, Tinga Chicken, and Hal Pastor tacos. The prices were affordable, and the food came out fast. Overall, the tacos were pretty good. Our favorite was the Tinga Chicken, and our least favorite was the Hal Pastor. The elote was great. The table we sat at was really dirty. (I don't think they clean between customers.) I think I would try other taco places before going back but, for the food, it's worth another visit.

Yelp
La Tingeria in Falls Church is an awesome spot that truly shines with its taco offerings. Despite its small size and limited seating, the cozy atmosphere only adds to its appeal! The menu is a taco lover's dream, featuring a selection that caters to a range of tastes. From the juicy carne asada to the perfectly spiced al pastor, each taco is crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The variety of salsas and toppings available ensures you can customize your tacos to your liking! The service is friendly and efficient, though the small space means it can get busy--so be prepared for a bit of a wait during peak times. All in all, La Tingeria delivers a memorable taco experience that's well worth a shot!

Marsha T.

Yelp
100% Halal Certified. La Tingeria has delicious, authentic tacos! My friends and I really like this place. Great birria tacos--they have both beef and goat options. I ordered a couple sides of consommé with the birria tacos which I found to be a little heavy on the cinnamon. They have good hal pastor chicken as well. My friends raved about the carne asada fries and the portion size was huge! Service is quick and friendly. They have seating but, not too much of it. Parking can be a challenge if you decide to go during the lunch or dinner rush.

Jon T.

Yelp
One of the best spots in the DMV hands down. I wanted to check out the place for some time because I had never experienced Taco Tuesday for myself. Like it was just lingering in my head until one day I suddenly said to myself, " I should really try something new today ". And thus, here we are with a review. La Tingeria is a Taco Shop located in Falls Church. If there's one thing I will have to mention, the parking situation is like trying to solve a jigsaw puzzle. Why are there so many cars here? How can anyone park here? There's parking on the streets, the sidewalk but it's very limited. I'm not saying there are better options close to you but if you are briefly going in to pick up food, I think you'd be okay with parking relatively close by. I must have hit the lottery when I accidently checked Instagram or so on Tuesday. Saw a post from where their social media representative mentioned 5-9 PM for 2 dollar Tacos. That's amazing! I decided to splurge because why not right? After parking, I ventured inside. I think I must have been the first to walk in once it hit 5 PM, I was on a mission for sure. I immediately went to the board to check out all the Taco Items they had.. Birria, Chorizo, Hal Pastor, Carne Asada, ect... So many good options. I got 2 Birria Goat, 2 Birria Beef, 1 Tinga Chicken, 1 Tinga Beef, 2 Chorizos for my choice of tacos. I also paid for Consomme which is an absolute must if I'm going to dip my tacos in delicious broth. I also had to get a Mexican Coke too. The only downside was there was one that wasn't chilled so it was at room temperature. The Birria Goat/Beef were soft, tender chunks of meat that melted in your mouth with full bliss the minute you took a bite. Dipping it into the Consommé felt like a dream came true. I never experienced a wide array of euphoria after eating good tacos. The Tinga Chicken/Beef Tacos were okay but the meat kept falling out of the Taco and into the Consommé. It was good but I think I would opt for something else. The Chorizo tacos had a slight kick to them but not overpowering. I think with the Consommé they brought more of that saltiness out. For around 24 dollars, this is a match made in heaven. I think truly this is a place I will check out again for sure.

Yelp
Food was fantastic. Staff is very friendly too. They gave lovely recommendations. Place is small but clean with outdoor seating as well

Angela S.

Yelp
After reading a great review in the Washington Post, I decided to try La Tingeria. To those who are more used to the typical tacos with ground beef, La Tingeria serves different styles of tacos. Its signature dishes include beef and chicken tingas which are shredded meat, and goat and beef birria that can be dipped in a consommé. The restaurant serves halal meat. We tried both tacos and tostadas. They were delicious. Personally, I like the crispy tostadas more than the tacos. The restaurant in Falls Church has limited indoor seating and a few outdoor picnic tables. Most people seemed to order takeout.

Esha Z.

Yelp
First time going here - loved that it's halal! Halal certifications are on the menu board for reference. I wish the menu was posted online so I could view items beforehand but there no big deal. Tried the strawberry agua Fresca, churro, chicken tinga taco, and an item that isn't in the menu as a permanent item yet but is doing great as a special they were trying out: birria egg rolls. Parking is tight and spots fill quickly in the area, you can easily miss it. Not alot of dine in space, seats about 12-15 people and many were in and out for take out orders. Greeted at the register and Service is quick when getting rung up. Food took about 10-15 min to come out piping hot, and the egg rolls were my favorite item! I hope they keep it around. Chicken tinga taco was good but not insane, birria egg rolls were to die for and I loved the crema it came with, the churro was filled and yummy, and the drink was refreshing, almost like the strawberry lemonade I make at home. Restrooms are available, however I didn't use it so unsure of cleanliness. Def going to check out the quesadilla next time! I will absolutely be back here !!!

Anna Y.

Yelp
I ordered the elote in a cup, two tacos, fries, and agua fresca pineapple. Everything was really good. I recommend getting the fries that are a little bit more dressed up and not just regular. The place is small but we didn't have to wait too long for seating. The only thing I didn't like about the place was parking. There is there is street parking available or you can attempt to park across the street.

Angela C.

Yelp
Great fast casual Mexican restaurant! Food was fresh and flavorful and was ready fast. The churros are a must! They're filled with Dulce de leche. Bonus that they played fun reggaeton music.

Steven T.

Yelp
I passed by this taco place so often that I finally decided to try it out. I got a variety of tacos and they were just ok in my opinion. The meat was seasoned well, but a bit dry for me. They weren't bad, but nothing blew me away like the reviews I've heard. Will have to come back for the Birria since that's what people recommend.

Thasin S.

Yelp
Best tacos ever!!! I will literally drive 30 min to get these tacos to go. The agua frescas are amazing too

Mike A.

Yelp
My new favorite taco shop in town. The place is pretty small, they only have two or three tables. However, the food is really good. I got a tostada, beef + goat birria tacos and corn. I was particularly impressed by the birria and consomé, it was very flavorful. Both the beef and goat are delicious, and have similar flavor profiles. The goat has a slightly stronger flavor from the meat which I liked. All their tortillas are made from corn flour, so gluten free!

King J.

Yelp
Shitty food service , Bad proportions and very overpriced for what they r priced , Expected more food asked for fries on the side with out the toppings and gave me food for a rat when I'm built like a tank

Anh L.

Yelp
Was pleasantly surprised when I went there for a late lunch the other day. The Birria eggrolls were one of my favorite. The torta with the tinga was absolutely delicious. They definitely make kind of West Coast style tacos if that's what you're in the mood for. the sauces were really good, I can't wait to come back, especially since I am minute walk from there.

Megha D.

Yelp
Some friends and I were looking for a quick dinner spot near Falls Church and this lived up to the hype here on Yelp!! It's pretty easy to find La Tingeria, although it is very small with limited parking and limited seating inside. We ordered at the counter and were lucky to be able to sit down and dine in. I ordered a goat and beef birria tacos as well as the elote. My table also tried the sopes and quesadillas. My birria tacos were so delicious and the meat was so flavorful and juicy! I'd never had goat birria before but it was absolutely delicious and different. My elote was also delicious, definitely on the tangier side but really refreshing. My friends also really liked their meals. Overall, it's a hole in the wall but it's really delicious cooking and I would recommend to anyone in the area!

Mary H.

Yelp
Nice little spot in falls church. Although it's small, busy and with awkward parking... the food is delicious! Carne asada tacos-flavorful and good Cheese quesadilla- loved it with all my toppings Vegetarian torta- flavorful and loved the tortilla. We would definitely order from here again but next time, "take out."It's just too messy to dine in.

Yelp

Norman L.

Yelp
Excellent food. Two types of Birria (beef, goat) I chose the beef. Yelp did not let me down this time, must try

Samia G.

Yelp
So good! I went there to get a taco and sat down inside to eat it. It was so good I proceeded to sit for another hour taste testing most of the menu! I mean SO GOOD!

Dave K.

Yelp
Oh boy, some of the best tacos I have ever had! I ordered 2 tacos and a tostada. I'm not usually a tostada guy, but it looked big in review, so I was tempted. The tostada was good, but wasn't anywhere near as good as the tacos. For the tacos I got an Al pastor and a beef birra. Both were excellent. Seriously tempted to get another round of them for dinner! Service was also friendly and efficient. 100% will be back.

Yessica V.

Yelp
Great food. I ordered delivery and the food arrived on time and packaged very well. It was all very delicious. I would definitely order from them again.

Melissa Z.

Yelp
This place was great!! I'm not a taco person (which I know is weird) but this place has what lots of places lack. We got some tacos and the shells were perfectly crispy but pliable and the birria meat and chicken tinga were super saucy but not overly wet. These were the favorites over the chorizo chicken. Overall, everything was favorable and balanced.

Brian B.

Yelp
Looked for good birria, received mouth watering birria. Service was average and polite, did not have to wait long for food. Pricing is great for the food quality. It is in a small little room so there werent many seats, but it was a bit of a hole-in-the-wall so i don't believe it'd be so crowded that you wouldnt be able to find seating. My hands were covered in sauce after devouring my birria beef quesadilla, I will be coming back with my friends.

AJ A.

Yelp
We decided to come here because the Mexican craving was not letting go. We ordered Birria beef tacos which was halal and couple of sides and of course had to get some mango jarrito drinks. It was very authentic tacos and the speedy service made it even better.

Ariana M.

Yelp
Out of all the birria places in NOVA, this is the place to go to. La Tingeria is truly the place to go when you are craving a really good birria quesadilla. I know that birria is known for tacos but dang this quesadilla they make is so good. Make sure to get the consume on the side and honestly its a perfect amount of flavor. Nothing is too overpowering, and honestly such a great dish. For a bonus, I always get the elote as a refreshing side. The service is truly outstanding too. My first time I was here, the cashier took the time to explain to me what was most popular and recommendations he had. The food also came out really fast. The ambiance is nice, they have outdoor seating. The walls also have really cool art! Honestly, a great place.

Lily B.

Yelp
Maybe just an off lunch hour but that was the greasiest quesadilla ever. It came recommended, lots of happy customers but yuk. Am going to think my experience was an off day.

Hibaq I.

Yelp
dare i say best taco spot in the entire dmv area...yes actually i will say it! there are few times in my life i will happily sit in traffic on a weekend for food. the commute here was one of those times. get the goat birria, chicken tinga, tortas, or an incredible tres leches, you'll thank yourself for the decision making and the chefs who blessed your meal.

Ashley B.

Yelp
This is the best place to find birria tacos in NOVA. A lot of places offer quesabirria and I like that this place gives you the option to have cheese or not. If you order 4+ tacos, you also get a free consommé. It's always very quick service and the place looks very vibrant and inviting.

Dona P.

Yelp
My new favorite taco place - have been dying to try it and it was all I had hoped for and more. They modified the corn for my mom and just gave it to her steamed- DELICIOUS- and even the fries were fresh and not oily tasting. The goat birria was the GOAT!!! Tender flavorful but also surprisingly light. Also tried an al pastor which packed a punch of flavor but there's nothing like we'll seasoned halal goat. Corn Tortillas were a delight as well. The goat sope was my FAV and that's gonna be my go to from now on, flavor bomb that was fresh crunch creamy and filling- also made with a ticker corn tortilla base ! The cashier was adorable and she noted how we didn't want cheese on the corn so then she asked if we'd want them to remove it from the fries- smart girl for not assuming. The kitchen staff were full of smiles and the salsas- WOW! We enjoyed sitting on the barstools looking out the window. Felt welcoming and just had a variety of folks coming through ! Loved it !

Lynn P.

Yelp
Everything in my first review still stands. Tonight I ordered one of the new Shrimp Tostadas. It was light, fresh, and delicious, I enjoyed the crispiness of the tostada, along with the creaminess of the guacamole and the freshness of the mango pico de gallo. I also ordered another new menu item, the traditional quesadilla. This is not my first time having one of the traditional quesadillas, but it was not a permanent part of the menu, so I haven't been able to get it for a while. I hope it stays on the menu this time because they are delicious! Highly recommend the chicken chorizo in the traditional quesadilla. Added updated photos of the menu and new items.

Leizle A.

Yelp
Lengua! Best tacos I've had on the east coast. They have lengua which is rare to find here. Everything was cooked well and not overly greasy or salty. It was just right, and price is fair. Great quality Mexican food.

Vivian Z.

Yelp
If you're looking for amazing Birria tacos.. look no further! this place has amazing tacos and their meats are so juicy and flavorful. I got their Birria beef tacos, consume, tanga chicken taco, and elote (corn). Let me start saying that they do NOT skip out on the birria beef meat on the tacos. these were jammed back with beef and topped with red onions! amazing and SO delicious. you can get cheese added for an additional .50 (which I did) and I dont think it made it much more of a difference ( didnt really taste the cheese) since the meat was the main star of the dish. The tanga chicken taco was great as well! it had almost like a chipotle flavor to them. I will need to come back and try their other meats like Birria goat (!!). We got a free consume with our order since we had ordered 4+ tacos! the consume was flavorful and great to dip the tacos in for that extra flavor! Their consume didnt have any meats in them (in the past i've always got consume with some meats in them) which was fine but that was something I had notice that was different than other consume ive had. The elote was a whole corn on a cob! lol I was expecting it to be half a corn but nope the whole thing!! cooked well and had white sauce (not sure what is called) on top! This place does have limited parking and most people do take out. there is a very small dining area inside and outside if you do want to stay to eat. A true falls church gem! I would recommend this place to anyone!! I also heard that they will be opening a DC restaurant soon which is exciting!!

Aagya S.

Yelp
Tacos were good. I would recommend beef birria. Seating was available even though place was busy. Food came in fast. Parking is limited. Overall would recommend.

Sergio M.

Yelp
I use to go to the food truck they had years ago and the birria tacos were great. Unfortunately the bigger they get the quality goes down. The beef birria tacos are still good but the goat birria was disappointing, didn't have much flavor. I also order the Lengua birria tacos and there were very tough/chewy and it made my stomach hurt. So I would definitely stay away from the goat and Lengua and just stick to beef tacos. I also ordered the shrimp tostada, the taste was good but it was very dry. Hopefully the quality goes back up. Only thing I would get again is the beef birria tacos.

Larry M.

Yelp
Oh man this is the best place for everything, all tastes so good, tacos and everything else.

Clarissa M.

Yelp
Tried for the first time, love everything I got. The beef tacos, street corn, and the consommé I could drink! Will def come back for more

Jenna Alexa I.

Yelp
I'm rounding up because in the end, they delivered with their extra friendly service towards the people there at closing time, the beef birria was really good, and though I was seriously concerned about the lack of dining area options and frozen mangonada, we still ended up getting lucky. However, if the weather isn't good, I wouldn't really plan to eat in if you have more than two people, but I definitely wouldn't be against coming here to-go. Boyfriend was super impressed with the torta and said it's probably the best he's had, even with all the Mexican food we had while we lived in SD. There aren't many non-spicy options it seems, outside of the hal pastor and beef birria. What made me raise my eyebrows was the mangonada that you get for yourself out of the freezer. It just seems like this would hit better if it was put in a bowl and we didn't know it was pre-packaged, and I always encourage focusing on less options than more. Meaning, I'd leave it to the churros and tres leches if I had to choose. Even still, I really liked this place. I love supporting local businesses and I wouldn't mind having my beef birria and tres leches.

A X.

Yelp
Food is consistently good Churros were meh, parking is bad so try to do takeout unless you like the whole in the wall experience.

Rachel P.

Yelp
These are probably the best tacos I've had in the DMV! Prices are very reasonable. I had the beef birria tacos with cheese and consommé. My elote was weirdly sour so I didn't finish that but I'd still come back again. Love their spicy sauces too!

Sultan Y.

Yelp
Everything I had here was delicious. I especially liked the chicken tostada and the beef/goat birria tacos. Make sure to try the sauces with the tacos. Plus great customer service!

Ali K.

Yelp
Soo good! This place is a must to add on to any foodies list. We got 4 queso Birria Tacos. Goat Birria, beef birria, tinga chicken and hal pastor Chicken. Each was unique it it's taste and sooo flavorful. I love that they serve only halal meat! This place is amazing from their customer service to the quality of the food. Will definitely be back and highly recommend. PS all 4 were yummy. Hard to pick a favorite lol. We did not try the Chorizo Tacos so maybe next time will try those!!

Aldair V.

Yelp
Recently tried La Tingeria as an unplanned dinner. I liked the picnic tables outside, I felt it added a nice touch to the dining experience. When you walk in, there is a wall with the menu and first thing that stood out was its prices for tortas was a bit higher than many authentic taco spots. With that being said, I ordered a torta de carne asada and my wife ordered tacos. The workers were very kind and made to sure to ask questions to ensure they get our order exactly how we want it. Overall, the food taste was okay but not out of this world (or NoVa) and if you're in the area, why not give it a try.

Nourelhoda L.

Yelp
MY ALL TIME FAVORITE PLACE! La Tingeria is a culinary delight that keeps surpassing expectations with each visit. The dishes are not only incredibly filling but burst with flavors that leave your taste buds in awe. Every bite is an indulgence, with dishes that are remarkably juicy and satisfying. The portions are generously packed, ensuring you leave with a full appetite. What's even better is the affordability - great prices for the quality and quantity served. As a bonus, the restaurant is HALAL. Conveniently, they accept Apple Pay!

Sonia A.

Yelp
We had the Torta Birria goat & beef both were delicious! So much flavor & great size for the price! We also had the Tostada de camarones & it was sweet with also a little kick of spice, absolutely delish! & to finish off we had their elotes! We love that this place is halal, absolute game changer!

Ness T.

Yelp
I highly recommend this hidden gem for its delicious food, reasonable prices, and friendly vibe

Peps A.

Yelp
I'm from California so I can be a bit of a Mexican food snob. The DMV area doesn't have many good taco places but this one is pretty good. It's located in a busy area so parking can be a bit difficult. There is no seating inside but there are some picnic tables outside. Ok let's talk about the taco. These are the best birria tacos in the DMV area. They are tasty, warm, and go well with the consome broth. I had the goat taco and it was good. I also had a chorizo taco that was crispy and delicious. The sope was crispy and well made. My only complaint is that I didn't see any fresh salsa. I prefer a good salsa over a bottled hot sauce. Overall this is a good place for birria and tinga tacos. Not California good, but good.

Yelp
Seeing all the wonderful reviews, I ordered from Doordash four tacos (2 taco tinga chicken; taco tinga beef), and an elote. The taco corn shells were soggy due to the liquid from the meat. The chicken and beef were both shredded meat. I prefer the usual grilled meats found in a standard street taco. Also, it had red onions which are not on a standard street taco. The meat was a tad sweet which I was not a fan of so I did not finish them. The corn used for the the elote was fresh and tasted good. The 3 stars are for the elote alone. While this restaurant maybe tasty to some, I cannot agree. Would I try this restaurant again? Probably not.
