The 23 Best Restaurants in Montevideo, Uruguay | Eater

"Montevideo used to have medio tanques (street barbecues) on corners all over the city, acting as pitstops for taxi drivers and workers. They inspired producer Fernanda Rodríguez and her husband, chef José Luis Torres, to open parrilla La Tira in 2019, where they source meat from a nearby butcher shop and vegetables from the street market. Sitting on the sidewalk, standing at the narrow bar tacked onto the open windows, or enjoying food at one of the mismatched tables in the square across the street, residents of the Palermo neighborhood made La Tira a go-to place to gather. Don’t miss the perfectly cooked strip steak, the chorizos, and salads, and be sure to have a vermouth or a beer with your meal. — MB" - Marcela Baruch

Great outdoor stop. Great experience. Some reviewers said its expensive and they dont speak English. Theyve got a young rock-star-looking guy who speaks English but was happy to go slow Spanish for me to practise. I didnt think it was expensive compared to other places. Asado was cooked nicely. Bring cash.

We loved it here. Such a great atmosphere, very local. The lady who runs it is delightful, she explains the menu with prices to you in Spanish when you sit down so it feels like a very homely experience. We had asado, salads and potatoes with a 1/2 litre of wine and were very happy with everything. If we lived in Montevideo we would go back regularly 😊

Very casual eatery in Palermo neighborhood. Hard-working and friendly staff. The English-speaking dishwasher came out and helped us navigate the menu. The Asado was good. They also accept USD which was super helpful because I didn’t have quite enough Pesos.

Unassuming curbside restaurant in laid-back Palermo neighborhood where an extremely friendly team serve delicious meat cuts and salads. Good music and great value-for-money, too.

the things that happened for us:” we had ordered our dishes and were waiting more than one hour for them”, “ they totally forgot about one of the things that we asked”, “ they just accept cash!!”, “ and it is not cheap place.” Actually the meat was really good but their service was a disaster!
