La Tour des Vents

We wanted to stay in wine country in the Bergerac area to taste wines. We found this lodging in the Monbazillac area on booking.com, staying in the Cabernet room in a private building with a few rooms and our own breakfast area that was set up each morning for each room with a table labeled with room, with yogurt, breads, fruit, coffee, cheese, cold meats, etc. the area was beautiful. The staff was very nice, though we had so much privacy, we didn’t see them much. With our car, we had easy access to the vineyards we wanted to go to. One night we ate at their Michelin restaurant, but that’s a different review (we loved it). We visited some wonderful small villages in the area, and ate one night in Pomport.

We had a lovely lunch with family and friends. We ate outside and the view was fantastic! We have eaten in the main restaurant on holidays gone by but it is now really quite expensive. This little sister restaurant was smashing. It still felt like a treat but did not break the bank for a party of 6.

Positives: Fabulous views. Food exceptionally good and inventive. Waiting staff were polite and attentive. Really excellent service. Staff spoke mainly French but manageable for novice speakers. Were made aware of allergies beforehand and catered to them well. Wine was well priced. Would highly recommend booking if in area. Negatives: None!

Luke warm reception, service slow,my steak was too tough to cut with the standard knife so asked for a steak knife...to be told there weren't any !!! They forgot to bring my wine !!

Food and staff were great. The wine pairing was excellent as well. At two points we were a little disappointed: although we took the most expensive menu we got a relatively unspectacular cheese course instead of having the possibility to choose from the variety of cheeses like other guests. Secondly the desserts we got seemed significantly less exciting than the ones other guests around us got served, although they clearly had less expensive menus...

The food is very innovative and beautifully presented with nice plating. Good,although not extensive, wine list. Beautiful views from the restaurant and service was good and attentive. If there is a critique it would be that the temperature in the premises could have been a bit higher to make it more comfortable.

This was possibly the most disappointing meal I’ve ever had. I cannot understand the Michelin star. Some of the food was not only sub par, it was not edible. I have had much better meals at local restaurants that are not Michelin recommended much less have a Michelin star. I cannot recommend this restaurant on any level. In response to the owner, I am quite capable of choosing my words. I happen to own more than one dictionary and perhaps understand English (lingua Franca) better than you. Furthermore, you addressed me as “monsieur” when I should have been addressed as “madame”. When I said, “inedible” I meant exactly what I said. My dinner was not only less than appetizing, I was “indisposed” all night after trying to digest the same. Now, does that align more with your understanding of inedible?? Perhaps a good English dictionary would be to your benefit. I stand by my review.

This restaurant is only 8 minutes away from Bergerac, yet it feels like you're entering a whole new realm! It's rated one star by Michelin and we are wondering when the other star will arrive? The chef is creating dishes that will stay in the deepest recesses of your long term happy memories. Our dinner was presented with grace and pleasure which added to the pleasure and grace when the food hit our palate. Fantastic wine list AND you are overlooking the entire city of Bergerac. This restaurant is a gift for foodies within an hour's drive! If it's a nice evening, request to sit on the terrace. You will not be disappointed!
