La Tour

"Nestling at the foot of a 14C tower in the heart of the famous wine-growing village, this traditional townhouse boasts an elegant, contemporary-style dining room that has retained a handful of period touches (beams, ceiling and mouldings). Simplicity, authenticity and bags of character are the hallmarks of dishes elevated by high-quality ingredients, such as cep and onion ravioli served with kale, or chuck of veal with cauliflower. Delicious, well-balanced flavours and judicious use of condiments: pared-back cuisine that makes for a delicious culinary interlude." - Michelin Inspector

"At the Michelin-starred Restaurant La Tour on Sancerre’s main square, chef Baptiste Fournier forgoes today’s culinary trends for simple, sophisticated French fare. He offers just three starters (langoustines, salmon, and mussels) and four entrées (fish, chicken, beef, and lamb) on the weekdays, and a superbly priced five-course menu on the weekends, complete with fish and meat, a cheese course, and dessert. For those looking to indulge, there are also three set menus—the Promenade, Pleasure, and Confidence—that adhere to the same minimalism, but surprise with innovative flavor combinations. Whichever you choose, be sure to pair your meal with a bottle of local Sancerre."

Such a lovely dinner in the very heart of Sancerre. Very cozy and well designed interior, with a warm welcome. The dishes were all created from local ingredients and seasonal with a big vegetarian focus on most dishes. A large wine list of Loire area wines at very reasonable prices with a few luxury vintages. Excellent service and would highly recommend this restaurant.

Pleased we reserved in advance to eat here. Firstly, the staff were excellent. We listened to them dealing with people who had limited French and they were very professional. We opted for the surprise menu with both veggie, meat and fish courses. All were excellent. The cheeses were in perfect condition. The accompanying wines were also well chosen but there was one of the whites which was not to my taste initially. However, it matched the food superbly. My wife guessed the ingredients in one of the dishes and was promptly given the recipe by the staff. A good mix of tourists and some locals which is always pleasing to see. Sancerre is blessed with some excellent restaurants of which La Tour was one of the best. Thank you

Expensive but worth it. We went for the 74€ menu and every course was sumptuous, served by efficient and knowledgeable staff. Very comprehensive wine list with far more on offer than the local Sancerre. A refined dining experience on par with the best.

Absolutely loved this restaurant. Everything from the food and wine pairings to the service was perfect. Highly imaginative chef with fantastic flavour profiles. Would recommend this to anyone visiting Sancerre.

A very warm welcome and lovely service at this privately owned restaurant - so pleased we found it - the most delicious and well thought out food - surprise courses within a framework of fish or meat. Lovely room, just thoroughly enjoyable.

The Mackerel dish was one of the most beautiful plates I've seen. We loved all the flavors and textures of our lunch. I give La Tour the highest recommendation if you plan to visit Sancerre.

We were here for lunch and the food was fantastic. The service was also impeccable. I cannot fault either. The ambience of the restaurant was also on point. An issue that did standout and which was the difference between rating this 5/5 and 4/5 was the fact we had to wait a while for menus. It seemed they did not have enough menus to go around. Very strange! All in all a lovely experience and if ever in Sancerre, well worth the booking

Yelp
The most AMAZING culinary experience of my life! I went to La Tour recently for my birthday and it was a perfect evening. The surprise menu was delicious and interesting. The staff were pleasant and accommodating. And the atmosphere was comfortable and light. I honestly cannot say enough positive things about this restaurant and my experience there. Just PERFECT.

Yelp
This was an excellent dining experience. Simply, they earn their Michelin star. The courses flow together, they are brilliantly conceived. The favors intense with subtle saucing. They are a feast for the eyes as well. The only weakness is the menu descriptions do not prepare you for the excellence to come. Our simple dinner consisted of an appetizer with a foamed sorbet and fish with almonds. The salad was an exquisite garden that exploded with favors. Next was a squash prepared three ways. Main course, the cod was very light, delicate, perfectly presented, perhaps poached or sou vide? The fromage course was varied and exquisite although heavy for what we had to that point. But who can turn down french cheeses? For desert I had rhubarb confit. There are about ten tables, the room extremely comfortable and quiet. Timing of the courses was perfect as well. Excellent wine menu of the region. Our waiter suggested a very reasonably priced Sancerre SB that excellent. The entire evening cost was 112 euros, the best dining experience for that price I have experienced.
