The Most Anticipated Restaurants in D.C., Summer 2019 - Eater DC

"After years of selling some of D.C.’s best barbecue out of a food truck, a Union Market food stall, and a pop-up at Solly’s on U Street, Joe Neuman is opening his own standalone place in Arlington. Neuman tells Eater he now has three 500-gallon smokers and a new smaller rig suited for cooking whole hog barbecue. At the new place, he plans to implement a barbecue “church” Sunday: He’ll open with one big cook in the morning and close when he sells out. Neuman says he already has all his permits and is cooking outside the new building. It will open as soon as renovations to the dining room are complete." - Tierney Plumb

Quaint Hispanic Grocery store located in a nice residential neighborhood. This location offers a good variety of spices and other foodstuff needed for authentic dishes. They didn't have everything we needed but it's a great small business to patronize nonetheless. This store is best visited by public transit or by foot since there is limited street parking.

We went to this grocery store very recently, for the first time. It did not disappoint. Its location was fantastic, next to a bunch of apartments and other places commonly used. It had many Mexican items, like pupusas. I have never had one that tasted this delicious. The only one downside of the restaurant are the employees, which failed to locate or even tell us what we were looking for, jalapeños, we’re even there.

I would have given this store five stars, had it not been for our last experience. The first time we ate there, we liked their beef soup: My husband, especially so, as it is much like the soup that he knows from Mexico. The previous visit, we enjoyed their tamales. The chicken was better than the bean. The tamales were wrapped in aluminum foil and heated, I imagine, in an oven, rather than a microwave. My tamale was so chocked full of delicious chicken breast that I shared some with my husband, who had ordered the bean. So the other day, it was a natural place to stop for carryout on our way home after a day running errands and with groceries in the car. We called ahead and asked them to heat two chicken tamales. We got home to a huge disappointment. They were not wrapped in foil; rather, placed in a Styrofoam container. They had apparently been microwaved. Personally, I don't microwave in plastic, and I don't know how they microwaved them. The reason for calling ahead was to give them time to heat them in foil. Further, there was hardly any chicken in them. Mine had a piece of yucca--hardly chicken. We probably won't be going back.

Love this little spot. The hot food is all so good - I love their pupusas, and I also frequently get their tamales. They also have a surprising number of grocery items for such a small shop! Prices for grocery are high to be expected for a small shop (though they have some items that are hard to find in this area), but their hot food bar is VERY reasonably priced.

If I could give them Zero stars I would - And I would Continue to write zero star reviews for the poor customer service they provided. and lack of accountability. I treated my staff here for lunch and forgot a receipt for my company expenses. Reached out to speak with someone that could help me, they hung up on me multiple times, would not let me speak with a manager. They said that he was not available on the numerous days that I tried calling to get help with just getting a receipt. I will NEVER bring any further business to this company, and I will make it my duty to share my experience here with other tenants in my office building for lunch options and where NOT TO GO. They could have done better. They could have just emailed a receipt. Instead I was treated like they wanted nothing to do with me. Even after I already ate at their restaurant. Very sad.

One of our go-to places for authentic Latin American food. The carne asada tacos are phenomenal and the corn tamales are one of my favorite foods ever. Very kind staff as well!

Although everything is marked up the store us awesome. Has Latino food and brands and they also cook food to go. I haven't tried the food but I went with my friend and he said what he ordered was amazing and authentique. Definitely recommend.
