Broward County’s 11 Best Taco Destinations

"La Union has two local locations – one in Margate and the other in Coral Springs. It’s tough to argue with its mantra of “Simply the Best from Mexico” with its extensive selection of tacos – carnitas, chicken, and barbacoa, oh my – under $2.50 a pop." - Jesse Scott

Google
Pretty good food. It's small but nice. Food fresh. First time eating tacos in a Mexican restaurant. They were good. Just went again to eat there. Chicken tacos 🌮 were really good. The ones with the creama. Love the Horchata. I recommend it. Horchata is a drink ,for those of you who don't know. It has a cinnamon taste to it. Recommend it.

Google
The staff was super friendly, and the food was absolutely delicious and authentic. I meant to grab a photo, but the tacos were so good I devoured them before I had the chance! Every taco I tried was fantastic—definitely worth the visit!

Google
This is 100% a must try spot! I’ve always drove past it but decided to go in and try something new. I had no idea they made tacos and other things. We enjoyed the taco & burrito! Their food is great. The selection of Pastries is HUGE. I just wish they had a description of things since i had no clue what any of it was. The worker was very helpful though and explained what things were. We picked out quite a few to try and they were all delicious. The prices are very reasonable around $1.50 each. I have also been looking for a good horchata spot in South Fl and their horchata is by far the best i’ve had so far.

Google
A hole in the wall, authentic Mexican bakery and food. Cheap and delicious compared to chain restaurants. Not a lot of space inside so takeout is a good option. They were quick to serve too.

Google
Came here today for light bite for lunch with my friend for my birthday. We both ordered tacos. She got one chicken taco and i got two Asad tacos. I also ordered a small horchata to sip on. I was looking for a great place to enjoy mexican food and saw this place had great reviews. Also it was highly recommended by my friend who enjoys coming here for the famous trés leches. That later she ended up ordering for me to try. We both really enjoyed our tacos a lot. Love that you get the best flavor when it’s the protein with some onions and some cilantro and a side of limes for a little zesty kick! The trés leches was nice definitely different than what I’ve tried. I’ve never had it with what I believe was some kind of strawberry filling if im not mistaken. I also liked the horchata but wish it had more ice stirred better because I can really taste the cinnamon in each sip which isn’t too fun. It’s a hole in the wall bakery that serves sweets and savory bites. Definitely will be back and recommend people to try.

Google
La Unión has the best tacos in the area!!! I always get the al pastor tacos al gusto - soo good. You also can’t beat the price. Everyone in my family loves going here. I’ll probably go sometime this week again 😆

Google
This place is really a hidden gem! The waiter was so nice and welcoming. My family and I really enjoyed the food and the service. And to top it off we took home some bread from their bakery.

Yelp
So hard to find real authentic Mexican items and this is the first bakery/ restaurant! Definitivamente un lugar auténtico donde encuentras el sabor mexicano ya que es casi imposible de encontrar algo en miami

Yelp
Greeted promptly as I walked in. There are lots of different breads in showcases as soon as you walk in. Then there's another case with desserts. It's a rather small establishment but there are tables that you can sit and dine in. The ladies at the counter where you order are very nice. I ordered take out , 2 Tostadas (chicken). They were very fresh and bland. My only complaint is they need some seasoning. The chicken was not seasoned but had color on them. I will def go back but I think I'd get the chorizo or chicken Al pastor, something with flavor. I like this place!!! Yelp
This spot is a small hole in the wall that serves authentic Mexican tacos at a great price. I love bringing my friends and family here because it's hard to find good Mexican food now a days. They also have a bakery inside that serves a bunch of different Mexican goodies. I've tried all of their tacos and the carnitas and al pastor are always my go to. The staff are always super friendly as well. Would recommend to anyone that is looking to get great Mexican food for a good price!

Yelp
I was in shocked when I saw how busy they were lol I was craving traditional tacos similar to street tacos so I landed here. I wanted to try everything on their menu lol the atmosphere felt homie. Families just enjoying lunch while other families stand patiently waiting for a table. If I could, I would give this place a 3.5 or closer to 4. The reason I can't is base on my first experience. I was really disappointed actually lol I spent $55 on tacos and only the chorizo was good. I ordered steak, Al pastor, chorizo, and barbacoa. The steak was lacking so much flavor and it was super dry... Literally, I had to drown it in hot sauce and lime to make it edible. The Al pastor tasted old... like the pork was sitting there all day. Definitely wasn't fresh. The barbacoa was ok... it was dry but tasty. The chorizo was definitely my favorite. I would definitely order this again. Unfortunately, I ordered 4 of each and only liked the chorizo. My family ate the rest. I also got pork tamale and cheese jalapeño tamale. These were also dry. I'm so disappointed...... lol From the reviews, this place is a gem. Maybe it was an off day and I got unlucky. I came on a Friday afternoon for lunch.... I would expect it to be good. Overall, I want to come back and give them another try. I believe they have two locations. Maybe I'll try their second location....

Yelp
The birria tacos we were served were the worst I've ever had. The meat was mushy. The taco shells were soggy. The customer service was bad as well. In their defense, no one in the establishment spoke English, so there was a language barrier when we tried to explain that we didn't want our food. The eat in location wasn't clean. There were finished food/plates on tables.

Yelp
Great selection of delicious Mexican pastries. Great service, clean place, delicious food and great prices

Yelp
The service is AMAZING!!! The food on the other hand is lack luster. But the ladies here are so so nice and helpful. We had: * Juevos Mexicano Burrito - There was more vegetables than eggs . Juevos Mexicano should have eggs but this did not have much eggs at all and mostly vegetables. * Torta - with milanesa was good * AL Pastor taco - not impressed * Tamale - Ok We probably won't be back. I love supporting small businesses but this is just too tough, I hope they turn it around. But the service is so so amazing, all the ladies here are so sweet and answered all of our difficult questions and were so accommodating.
google avatar

Yelp
Just went back recently, Tacos are simply amazing. and you have got to try the tamale's, Jalapeño is the best. Use the green sauce, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I have been wanting to try this place for years. I finally had the opportunity a few weeks ago, and surprisingly, I was a little bit let down. I tried both the beef and chicken empanadas. The beef was dry and flavorless, and it just didn't taste fresh. My chicken empanada was stuffed with plenty of moist chicken, and the spices were just right. I could have easily eaten a few more as they were pretty great. The elote corn was not good. Served in a cup, the bottom layer was plain corn in milk. The top layer was cold cheese. Even after I mixed everything together, it was so bland. I didn't taste any seasonings/spices. Even the cheese was flavorless. It was nothing more than corn in milk. I wanted to buy some churros to take home, but they didn't have any made. I checked out the bakery case. It was pretty bare. I asked the man behind the counter if they had anything coming out soon, and he said no, perhaps in a few hours. I think that I went on an off day. I mean, the reviews here are fantastic. And like I said, my chicken empanada was excellent. If I were to return, I would like to try a few different things and get some more chicken empanadas. Like I said, I just think they were having an off day when I was there. My review will be updated when I go back. I don't live locally, so it may be a while. I believe in supporting family owned businesses, so I will definitely give them another chance. We all have off days, and we all deserve second chances. I will be back.

Yelp
The place is solid again, but make sure you get there at an hour where it's not too crazy busy otherwise the waitstaff tends to get overwhelmed.

Yelp
I love this place!! It's a little Mexican AUTHENTIC restaurant. You walk in and there's a little bakery section with all Mexican baked goods. There's a few tables but I always takeout my food. They're very quick and the prices are great. I usually always order different types of tacos so I get a taste of each meat. All of them are amazing! I also had a torta for the first time here, also great! Definitely recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
The reviews do not lie as this place is extremely good. The smell this restaurant emits is mouthwatering. It's a symphony on the nostrils as they have massive cabinets stuffed with baked goods. The chicken empanadas are absolutely delicious. We have been hooked on this place since we randomly stopped by one day. Their chicken enchiladas in red sauce are also extremely good. The staff here is very friendly and nice. If you want some fresh baked goods or a full lunch definitely give this place a try. Their Mexican food is top notch.

Yelp
I typically go here for lunch and get the burritos. The burritos are absolutely delicious. A little disappointed with dinner my wife and I got fajitas. The tortillas appear to be homemade and are absolutely delicious. The steak with the tomatoes and onions was not really the best and lacked a lot of flavor. We will probably stick to this place as a good lunch option and not for dinner.
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
These are probably the best tacos in Broward County. I feel they've stepped up their game in the past year. The barbacoa and al pastor are both delicious. The waiter here is so conscientious and kind.

Shannon M.

Yelp
Every time it is always delicious, fresh, and flavorful! Best hidden gem in town. Service is always perfect and the bakery section is so impressive.
google avatar

Yelp
The food here is super delicious and it tastes better because of the amazing price. This is my favorite after school spot because you can get 3 tacos, a pastry, and a water cup all under $10.

Chris G.

Yelp
Arrived for lunch, got a table, fast service, delicious food and bakery goods to take home. Hadn't been there in a while but so solid good food and prices. I'd go 3 times a week if I could.

Fernando R.

Yelp
The bread is not fresh; probably from a day before. So sad! El pan es viejo, probablemente del dia anterior; si pides pan recién salido te dicen que es el mismo. Pero no es así, a menos que todo el pan sea de días anteriores.
google avatar

Yelp
Such a gem. Great authentic food and nice people. Prices were good too. We will return.

Yelp
As always La Union does not disappoint. Was in the mood of breakfast so had to have the huevoes rabcheros (fried eggs with a red sauce, refried beans, and Mexican rice). Very tasty and super filling. We had some baked treats which are always delicious(ate them right away so no photo this time). If in the Coral Springs area La Union is a must try spot!

Michael U.

Yelp
Spend your money here, it's worth it. The real Mexican food spot not the fake Taqueria down the street on university. Service is always quality The restaurant always has a customer or more sitting at the table, enjoying the great food which provides to the great energy.
google avatar

Brian B.

Yelp
A long standing institution on Wiles Road. 7 dine in tables and a brisk business for bakery items. People come in and literally pile a tray with dozens of baked goods to go. My group comes here for excellent tacos, and amazing tortas. We have tried many other menu items, with all being good. After dinner, we usually pick out a bakery item for dessert and leave very happy. Prices have gone up, and service is spotty sometimes, but always friendly. If it is ever slow, just remember that is caused by how busy they are due to the high quality and faithful repeat customers. If you have not been, this goes beyond a good review. This is a must visit!
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
The bread was amazing! A must visit if you love Mexican pastries. The prices were great for the pastries.

Fred D.

Yelp
Authentic Mexican cuisine and bakery (panadería). Surprised by the quantity of orders to be picked up. That makes the checkout a bit slow.

Yelp
The search for my go to burrito spot......continues Service was prompt and it was quite busy in there. Ordered: Burrito: I've noticed most Mexican places don't put onion and cilantro in their burritos. But everywhere on the west coast they do. Like all the places I've gone to, I asked for them to put it in. They said they did and when I ate my burrito, they didn't. I should have asked for it on the side. It was pricey here for the burrito and the size is comparable to a "baby burrito" from California. It was a quick eat and I was still hungry. Not satisfied with the flavoring of the meat either. Luckily I also ordered the birria taco: Although it made my eyes hungry, I wasnt blown away with it. The consumme tasted like salted water. The tacos wherent really filled with meat. Quesedilla: My bf always orders this and it was small for the price. He shared my birria tacos and he was still very hungry after. Overall, food was pricey for what you get and weve never left a Mexican place hungry. Maybe these aren't the dishes this establishment is known for but it wasn't for us.

Yelp
I have been to all of their locations. These are family owned and operated. I love their food and it's a great experience. The location isn't much but it doesn't need to be!

Yelp
I love this place! If you are looking for authentic Mexican food this spot is great place to visit. 1. The food is always delicious and fresh. I always try their Tacos. I like to take my food to go and before I get home, I already eaten all of it. I had their steak burrito last time and it was delicious. 10/10. 2. Orchata! Every time I am craving orchata this spot is my go to. Delicious and creamy. You should definitely try it. 10/10 3. The staff is pleasant and super nice. 4. I like that you can also buys sweets and candies as well. I love some tajin candy. Overall, I encourage others to visit. This place is delightful. I love the variety of options that they provide. The area is nice. Easy to find parking. The restaurant is so cute. I love the decorations and how homey it feels. Definitely a nice hidden gem and definitely worth checking out!

Yelp
La Union, is a go to spot if you like authentic Mexican food or just want some tacos, theirs are really good and their bakery selection is generally always fresh. I've been going here for the last 10+ years, they have a delicious bakery, food and yummy Mexican treats and candies. Must try their churros before their gone and they even have inside service if you decide to sit and eat. They are located off of Wiles Road and Woodside Drive right next to the corner store. This is in the city of Coral Springs in Broward County. This plaza and the ones next to it have a variety of great businesses so if your around come check them out, worth a stop by!

Yelp
To be up front, this review is only about the dinner food, not the baked goods. Everything about our experience here was okay. Service was prompt at first, but then our server disappeared when we were ready to pay. He did not tell us to go to the counter to pay so we waited at the table for quite a while. We got chips and queso to start with. We didn't realize a side of queso was not the melted cheese dip we're accustomed to. The chips were not very good. Too crispy and rather bland. I got three tacos (chicken, carne asada, and the pork). They were all okay. Meat was a little dry, and I really wanted some sauce or more flavor packed in. The queso and lettuce added some moisture but not enough. My husband got the chicken flautas, and he did not enjoy his meal at all. I tried the chicken, and all I could taste was the oil. My son got the kids cheese quesadilla and rice. He ate his whole quesadilla and my daughter enjoyed the rice, but they're both under 5 and probably enjoyed the blander tastes. Not a place we'll be returning to when there's so many other Mexican restaurants in the area.
google avatar

Alicia P.

Yelp
Flavors were good. Chilaquiles we're just crunch chips with sauce on top. I grew up eating them soft and saucy with an over easy egg on top so the yolk drizzles over the chilaquiles making it a creamy spicy bite. This visit was not that experience. Salsas were good. Beans were good. The pan dulce was dry and flavorless. I really wanted to try this place based on reviews, but with so many choices closer to home, I don't think it's worth the drive.
google avatar

Savannah S.

Yelp
I tried there chicken, and carne asado tacos and they were SO FLAVORFUL. This is definitely a must go to taco spot! Small restaurant with a couple of tables but the food and service is great! Everything was fresh delicious, and they even have their own spicy hot sauce that goes perfect on the tacos. Prices were very affordable! I also tried their pineapple juice and it was freshly squeezed, and their cafe con leche. I definitely recommend this restaurant. I'll be back soon :)
google avatar

Lina S.

Yelp
LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! You know a place is good when there's a line out the door of people waiting to get their food. Everything here is amazing! The tacos Al pastor are so incredible and you can tell they're authentic. Their pastries and breads are delicious and well priced. I didn't know they had a "system" the first time I went so FYI, if you're only there for pastries: go to the register, ask for the plastic gloves, tray and tong and simple select what you want. The people working there are so kind. I truly recommend this place! Great service, great food. I typically order to go but you can eat there as well. Parking is easy. Definitely a staple if you're looking for authentic Mexican food.
google avatar

Isadore R.

Yelp
Authentic Mexican food and bakery in a small, unpretentious space. Tacos, frijoles and arroz are the closest to my mom's as I've found. Tostadas are excellent--firm corn tortillas with plenty of lettuce, tomatoes, onion and Mexican cheese topped with an avocado slice. Menudo on the weekends is a big plus. Have to go there at least once a week!
google avatar

Yelp
All these years living here and I never knew La Union existed. Well I'm the one who lost out. We were in Coral Springs and it was dinner time so I went to Yelp and La Union came up with great reviews. Thank you Yelpers for steering me to this great find. True authentic Mexican food. Living in Texas for 10 years and traveling the state for work, La Union is as good if not better than any place in the valley, on the border or in San Antonio. Tacos were made with fresh homemade tortillas and loaded with chorizo, lettuce, cheese and tomato salsa. Chicken quesadilla - amazing!! Fajitas were very good. Mix of chicken and beef grilled. I should know better, fajitas are more Tex mex and in a place like this, you should stick with the real basics. Rice and refried beans are the best around! Ordering online is super easy and staff is super helpful and friendly. Bakery looks great too... next time need to pick up cookies and pastries.
google avatar

Krissy L.

Yelp
I truly enjoy the food here. I'm very picky with Mexican food because I only enjoy authentic Mexican meals. This place is not only authentic but they are also patient with me when I try to order in Spanish. I sound horrible but "A" for effort right? I suggest getting their rice and beans with a fried egg in the mornings and for lunch/dinner, their tacos are delicious along with their veggie tostadas. They also sell raspados and my favorite flavor is the guanabana. This is my go-to Mexican spot in South Florida.

Aaron S.

Yelp
Food is good but prices don't match... just bought 2 tortas which are 6.99 in their website, got charged almost 12 dollar each, when I asked why the lady just said the prices where wrong in their website and that I should have ordered online if I wanted that price... didn't offer to match the price I saw and showed her, service was not nice.

Yelp
La Union is an amazing local restaurant for very authentic Mexican food. Super delicious, clean, fresh, made to order. Soooooo tasty. The staff is extremely friendly, courteous and professional. I really am so grateful to have this restaurant close to where I work in Coral Springs. I have recommended them to many of my friends and coworkers, and they are now big fans as well!! I have only purchased food at lunchtime, and I hope to one day very soon try the bakery items one morning. They have a very large selection of baked goods, and they all look so delicious and amazing!! Keep up the great work, La Union Bakery!

Yelp
Amazing food and pastries The service is also great. I highly recommend. Cute little place

Yelp
My wife and I feel, living in the area, we need to have Mexican food once every week or two. This is slowly becoming our staple to pick up. My wife gets the tacos, which are well made, and properly portioned. I get the nachos, which are covered with a creamy blend of cheeses, creams, and just enough vegetables that my wife isn't upset with me (and beans of course). I'd give this place a solid 4 out of 5 stars. The reason I remove the star is just with the service there, I feel as a non Latino I'm not treated the same, I'm given a few looks, and kind of spoken down too (which I'm not used to). This is also the reason we order take out. Again, food is amazing, just maybe better to order take out or uber eats.

Yelp
6-star food, 4-star ambience, 5-star service. Incredibly good, authentic Mexican food from a little hole-in-the-wall taqueria that has terrific friendly service. The best part of the overall great experience is the food. This ain't ya Taco Bell Tex Mex blanded down for gringoes. It's owned by the Nieto family, who immigrated from Mexico and brought the family recipes. I've literally never had anything I didn't like here. My sister-in-law lives in the area and recommended La Union...after 5 visits here in 3-4 months, I definitely can say it's a favorite. It's a fairly small space with a bit of charm, but fairly generic. One thing that I really love is they take Covid precautions seriously, reminding the mask-less to go back to their car, and limiting to ten in the store at once. Service here is warm and wonderful. The vibe is very laidback, like you might find in Cozumel when there are no cruise ships: very local Mexican village shop in a very good way.

Yelp
Very good food , fair prices , Family owned business, They have 3 restaurants & a meat market
google avatar

Sarah T.

Yelp
Great service, friendly, tasty concha and fair prices! The chilaquiles verdes needed salt and the eggs were slightly cooked longer than I like but other than that it was good.

Luis A.

Yelp
I'm a local, and I'm always looking for new places to eat in coral springs. I walked in, and I was never acknowledged whatsoever the 20 minutes i was there. Maybe the food is great but I'll never know since I'll never come back to this place. Terrible customer service
google avatar

Yelp
Good food, nice staff but the place is not that great to look at. No real ambiance to talk about but good food. Great for takeout.

Yelp
This is one of our family favorite local spots! So far, this is as close to authentic Mexican tacos de calles with carne asada that I've had in South Florida. This particular taco is my absolute favorite and living in California for over 20 years and living in Mexico for 6 months, I can tell you where pretty much all the best tacos are in Los Angeles and Orange Counties and Mexicali. Carne Asada TacosWhile I'm used to paying $0.79 to $1.50 per taco in California, buying as many as 5-10 at a time ... La Union's price point is very reasonable compared to many other South Florida establishments who overcharge at $3.00 to $4.00 for the same small single taco! And La Union's flavor is actually good too! Whether you sit in or order for pickup, the quality and service will be the same. Dining in can get busy during evenings and the bakery is busy all day and evening, so the best time to go for a meal with family is later afternoon or mid-evening. One opportunity for improvement would be the limes. While the restaurant provides a decent amount of cut limes upon request, few produce much juice when squeezed over the taco. I don't know how they can fix this, but it would require half the amount of limes if they actually squeezed enough juice for a single taco per slice. Back in California, never needed more than a single like slice per taco and got plenty of juice for more than one. Don't know why it's different here. No pictures to share here ... but trust this gringo, this food is authentic I'm just very particular.

Yelp
In short: authentic, cheaply priced, tasty Mexican food. I was picking up takeout to bring to my friend's house for ourselves and toddlers. The restaurant is tiny, holds about 8 tables, and is located in a tiny strip mall off wiles road next to an auto parts store. Since I was the only American in the restaurant, I think it's safe to assume that it's authentic. The staff spoke English, and I was helped immediately upon walking in. The average menu item is less than 10.00. And the menu is pretty large, written on a dry erase board. When you first walk in you are blasted with the smell of fresh baked breads, cookies, and all things that love my midsection. I have tried their tres leches in the past at a party and I can attest that it was the best I have ever tried. I got a large sprinkle cookie for the toddlers and the cookie was refreshingly light, not too much sugar but definitely not lacking flavor. We ordered the chicken quesadillas for the kiddies, chips and guacamole, a pork tamale, and a carne asado taco. The chicken was shredded in the quesadilla and my son devoured it (this is a picky 3 year old we are talking about so this speaks volumes). Everything was perfect... hands down best Mexican I have tried in a while. I need to come back and try everything!!!!

Yelp
Tasty Mexican eats and sweet treats at La Union Bakery. I'd been here once before for some of their baked goodies. Recently saw them listed on Yelp's 2019 Top 100 Panaderias by state. I knew I was due for another visit. Only this time I was having some of their Mexican eats too ;) La Union is located in a somewhat older shopping strip off of Wiles Rd. There is sufficient parking for the foot traffic. As soon as you open the door a waft of baked goods welcomes you. The place is homey & cozy with approximately ten tables. It's clean and has a cheerful decor. To your left, a compartmentalized wall full of yummy baked goods. Grab a tray, a pair of tongs and start picking goodies. Head over to the register to order some Mexican eats (handwritten menu board overhead) and pay. I asked for my sweet treats to go so they wrapped them up nicely. I grabbed a table and waited for my dine-in order. Savory Bites recap: Chicken taco - nice sturdy corn tortilla, tasty well seasoned chicken breast pieces with fresh chopped onion & cilantro. Carnitas tostada - crunchy fried corn tortillas, topped with beans (not refried), juicy shredded roast pork, fresh lettuce, tomatoes, queso & crema. Sweet Bites recap: Molasses cookie - soft & chewy with a light molasses flavor in a a cute shape (pig) Sugar cookie with sprinkles - soft, slightly sweet, buttery with a hint of vanilla Jelly Roll cake slice - slightly sweet with citrusy, vanilla, coconut flavors & a light pound cake texture. My fav. of the sweet treats I've tried so far from the wall of baked goodies. They have good portions, super easy on the wallet with tasty eats AND sweet treats. Can't beat that! They have another location on Sample Rd. too. Recommended for your authentic Mexican food cravings.

Yelp
Mannnn come on... street tacos, street burritos... 2 bucks and 6 bucks respectively. Well I can respect that bro! And so should you. There are too may places charge around $4 for a taco and that's just plain disrespect, lol. Come here, and get you 5 tacos for $10 and a big fat burrito for $6. That's gains man... GAINS!

Yelp
Worst takeout process. I waited an hour while 3 groups of people came in 20 minutes after me and got their food before me. I sat at one of the tables waiting patiently because the owner/counter lady said 20 minutes. 40 minutes later, then 1 hour later, no food while people who came in after me and dined in got theirs. I literally could have just dined in and ate there and probably would've been faster. She could've at least told me that it's taking longer but nothing. She said it was my fault. I should have called ahead. What? STAY AWAY FROM THIS DUMP! NO REGARD FOR CUSTOMER'S TIME. Also, the styrofoam containers break apart. One of the containers broke in half because the food was so hot and spilled all over my car's carpeting. I SEND A LOT OF MY CUSTOMERS AND CO-WORKERS TO EAT HERE BUT NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!!
