La Ventana Cafe

This is probably my favorite coffee shop environment in Detroit. The seating is very unique. I’ve enjoyed sitting at the little booth in the corner. It’s perfect for more focused study. Coffee is usually good too. With all the positive things I have to say, there are some issues that urgently need to be addressed. Google seems the most appropriate place to share them since they weren’t at the shop as I arrived nearly 20 minutes after opening and don’t respond to their instagram messages. I probably wouldn’t leave this review if it had only happens a time or two, but between my wife and I, there have been well over ten times. We do a lot of pre-work coffee meetings, so a shop opening before 8am is worth a lot to us. It’s a bummer this place has failed to deliver any bit of consistency and the owners don’t seem to be concerned.

This place was a chill spot with a good vibe. The owners were amazing, and the atmosphere was so pleasant. The side area had long benches and a small wall piece that branches off if you wanted some privacy to work on school or work, which was a unique touch. That's not even mentioning the food. There was a 12-minute wait for my burrito, but it was SO WORTH IT!!! It was extremely difficult to wait for it to cool down after I bit into that bubble of deliciousness! I ordered the veggie burrito and a dem latte, which has brown sugar syrup, which was also super tasty and beautiful!!! 🤩The time, effort, and care they put in shows- the latte art was so crisp and well done!!! My only disappointment was because of the prices. I didn't see any of their prices when I looked them up, but they do make all the syrups in-house, so that definitely makes a difference, too.

I didn’t catch the baristas name but she was so nice and helpful. It was my first time visiting and I grabbed a coffee before hitting the meat market across the street. The coffee was phenomenal, 10/10 will return. I got the cold brew with vanilla bean. The vibes were perfect.

This is a little minimalist cafe in an interesting part of Detroit. I got the DEM latte, which was prepared with latte art, very appreciated! It was pretty good, a little foamy but pretty flavorful. I also got a chocolate chip cookie because that was the only thing they had to offer for pastries, I asked for it to be warmed up and it took over 10 minutes and it came back still pretty hard. The service was okay. Honestly, I probably wouldn’t come back but it’s a pretty nice little quiet space to get work done.

I stopped in for a quick coffee and was able to get just that :) The Coffee and service were good, and there was no wait.

I liked this spot a lot. On my last few trips to Detroit, I was recommended to go here but I just didn’t make the time to come out. This time a friend of mine was DJing an event they had in their little block space. It was really cool. I had a chai latte, the atmosphere was incredible, I could see myself working out of their on a nice and sunny day because I love the way the natural light leaks into the space & I love how the interior is decorated. Very chill, super cute.

For Detroiters looking for their new favorite coffee spot, your search is over. This place is nothing like any of the local shops, easily one of the most beautiful coffee shops in Michigan. Coffee is excellent would recommend the DEM latte (their spin on a brown sugar latte)

I always passed by this spot on my way downtown, curious but unsure of what it was. I finally decided to stop in, and it turns out to be a nice, laid-back coffee cafe. I could definitely see myself bringing my laptop in and working here--it's got a great vibe. It is clear that they take great care and attention to making the coffee and ensuring everything is prepared with quality in mind. I really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. I'll definitely be back to try more!

Amazing coffee shop near Eastern Market. It has a great atmosphere that makes it a nice spot to socialize. I enjoyed the vanilla bean latte and dem latte. They were sweet without being overly sweet. They also have breakfast burritos and few pastry options.

Picked up a Too Good To Go bag and was disappointed at the lack of value. The bag's contents were supposed to be $12 worth of goods soon to be tossed. In the bag was a single croissant. The croissant was delicious but too close to full price for something that was going to be thrown away. If you're unable to honor the TGTG value, cancel the order well before pick up or lower the amount of bags you list.

a lovely, modern, and bright cafe. the workers were super nice. i ordered a flat white and a quiche lorraine. this cafe is definitely on the pricier side, but it's worth a visit! plenty of seating as well. we went on a saturday late morning, and there was even a dj playing (what id describe as) soft techno. the flat white was super delicious and the latte art was awesome. the quiche was definitely bigger than expected but not complaining at all! i especially liked the sharpness of the cheese -- and there was no soggy bottom either. definitely recommend. we went out of our way to stop by and it was so worth it!

One of my fav coffee places in the Eastern Market area. Great place to get some work done while you enjoy great coffee. They play great music and the shop is roomy with comfortable seating. The woman who runs the register (may be the owner?) is very personable and kind. Same with the guy who makes the drinks. They have great pastries and sometimes breakfast burritos. Indoor and outdoor seating!

Very cool space and great coffee. I love that they have outdoor seating, group seating, and standard table and chairs. It was a bit too loud for me to study, but I was able to work on some other stuff while I was here.

Best vanilla latte I have ever had! They make their own vanilla syrup, and use intelligensia coffee. Simply amazing.

This is one of my favorite coffee shops in Detroit. They're in a great location, right next to Eastern market, and probably only a 10 minute walk from my apartment, so I love stopping by on my way home from Eastern market. The main callouts I would make are the interior design and the staff. It's Scandinavian vibes, would a wooden interior, common seating space for more mingling rather than working at a table, although they also have good seating with tables and outlets if you want to work from there (as I have several times). The staff is incredibly nice, they really impressed me by remembering my name after I had only been a handful of times. The coffee itself is also super high quality, my sister likes to buy her beans directly from them and I also restock from them occasionally. Worth going just to check out the space, but worth returning to because of the great staff and the quality coffee.

Amazing coffee shop in Eastern Market! The interior is unique with ample seating for studying, meeting friends, or even playing games. The drinks are all incredible with my favorites being the DEM latte and Vanilla lattes. Their beans are the absolute best and I buy them by the bags for my own espresso machine. I also love the sense of community they have fostered here! They host game and movie nights which are always a blast. La ventana is everything you could ask for and more in a cafe!

La Ventana has only been open for a month or so but they were already super busy. It is right across from the Eastern Market and on an up and coming strip. The area is honestly really cool and there is street parking. There are tables outside and plenty of seating inside including an elevated space that has stadium-style benches. The matcha latte is super good and the coffee cake was good too but I got a very small slice for $6. It is too pricey to frequent, but a great spot for doing work. The music would be a little too loud to have meetings online even with headphones but overall not too loud in there. There aren't many pastries, there was only the cake and a cookie at the time but I think they focus on being minimalistic. It is super well decorated and modern. It looked like they also serve cans of beer which I thought was cool.

Love this place but music is way too loud. You can barely hear the person next to you, and it's hard to hear the baristas when you're ordering.

This is a vibe. Great coffee selection, great location, walkable from eastern market and shares a shady patio area with Flowers for Dreams. Literally, la ventana - the space gets a lot of natural light. I love they have more than just pastries. Plenty of seating, it was easy to find an open table to work remote on a weekday afternoon but I could see it getting a lot busier in the morning or on weekends. Folks behind the counter are very kind, the atmosphere is friendly and relaxing. I believe they have live music some late afternoons/early evenings too!

I just met the owner, Juan, and was inspired by his passion for operating an establishment of excellence in the City of Detroit! The interior is fresh and beautiful in its minimalism. Be sure to find your way there and support!

This place is about to be a staple in the community! The space is bright, staff was welcoming, and drinks were delicious. Love that they're open until 7:00.

I love it here. good coffee, good music, kind staff and good pastries. get the almond croissant if it's available. it sounds underwhelming bc.. almonds. but it's sooooo good.

Nowadays you can find really good coffee in many coffee shops around. This is one of those places. The ambiance is very nice; the place looks clean and modern... BUT waiting in line for 30 min to get a coffee is not worth it. Not sure if the place is understaffed or if the barista is new, but it sure did look like it. Staff is friendly, but you need more than friendliness to run a coffee shop. Many customers waited a long while and not once did I hear the staff apologize for the wait. I sure didn't. The coffee shop business model is not new and most can deliver a good coffee in half the time I waited here. I give this place a 3 star review mainly for their service. Im sure with better training with the espresso machine this could be a successful business.

A great addition to the Eastern Market Gratiot strip and an easy walk from the Lafayette Park neighborhood. Relaxing atmosphere with a chill vibe and good coffee and pastries.
