Oaxacan cuisine in Troy?!
La Victoria looks unassuming, but trust me when I say this is no ordinary Mexican spot. It's owned by a Oaxacan couple, who are incredibly welcoming the moment you walk in the door.
If you've never had Oaxacan cuisine, I highly recommend asking the owners for their recommendations based on your likes and dislikes. If you're up for trying something new, give the Tlayuda a try. It's absolutely massive and looks like a Oaxacan pizza. It's large, thin, and crunchy as it's a partially fried tortilla covered with refried beans, lettuce, avocado, meat, Oaxacan cheese, and salsa. It's incredible!
The fajitas are also ! I tried the mixed grill fajitas with shrimp, chicken, and steak, and the portion was huge. They came with homemade tortillas, pico de gallo, and avocado slices. I brought home enough for two more meals - they were fantastic!
They also have a large selection of Jarritos - Mexican sodas.
I'm so excited to have such a unique spot in the Collar City, and I'm looking forward to trying more menu items. Go as soon as you can!
