"This French brasserie occupies a unique property in Botafogo dating back to 1775 and has established itself as a trusted option for those who enjoy authentic Gallic cuisine. Under the management of French owner Gregoire Fortat, La Villa features a simple decor, high ceilings, outdoor tables and a pleasant and hospitable ambience. The menu here is centred around traditional French bistro fare with an added Brazilian touch. The experience begins with a delicious pâté de champagne served with bread baked on the premises, followed by the classic onion soup, and an authentic duck cassoulet. On Sundays, there’s also a French-Brazilian barbecue including an impressive array of fish and seafood." - Michelin Inspector

La Villa

"This French brasserie occupies a unique old building with lots of history. In the 1980s, when it was owned by Nelsinho Rodrigues, son of the famous playwright Nelson Rodrigues, it was a renowned meeting-point for intellectuals. La Villa offers a concise à la carte, two fixed-price menus and what it refers to as ‘Os domingos franco-brasileiros’ on Sundays. Make sure you also try the fantastic bouillabaisse: a delicious fish stew from the south of France and one of the restaurant’s signature dishes." - Michelin Inspector

Not bad but not very good either. The meat was good. We had a "patê" that wasn't really tasty. The gazpacho was okay, a little to saur, the burrata was very good dough. Didn't like the Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon. The salad was okay, the goat cheese a little salty. Not like a crottin de chavignol, more like fresh goat cheese.

This is one of the best restaurants in Botafogo and definitely the best value during lunch hour in week days. It is very cozy, great food and fair price.

Went there last night to see what all the buzz surrounding this place is about and was highly disappointed. My duck was extremely overcooked and tough, the aligot was not creamy at all. In addition their wine list is quite pricey and incredibly limited. My friends also did not care for the food. Will not return.

A pleasant surprise. A cozy, quiet and charming place. A varied menu with very well-structured dishes and a very good seasoning. The only negative point was not having Vallet demanding a search for vacancies in the surroundings.

With its cozy atmosphere and high prices, this place has the potential to receive a 5-star rating. However, they need to work on fundamental things: (I) the food lacks the seasoning expected in French cuisine; (ii) the service is vague and amateur; (iii) there are limited options for wine.

Spoken as Michelin star possible and has won awards. The food was fine. Steak was over cooked but very tasty. Not disappointed but wouldn't seek out. It is in a cool up incoming neighborhood

Had a very bad experience, i paid with my credit card and asked them to please charge in real (reas) and not dollars and they pushed the wrong button and I was charged high fees, I asked them nicely to just reverse the charge and redo it in real (reas) ,the waiters tried to help but said they had to call the chef , the chef did not want to even try to fix the situation, instead lied and said they can not refund credit card orders , such a shame they had every chance to try to fix this ,I explained it to them but the chef wanted nothing to do with fixing anything, instead i was overcharged bank fees all because they hit the wrong button and would not fix it , beware if you go there with foreign credit cards

The escargot was okay, but the duck dish was under seasoned, and the bacon was undercooked. We arrived towards the end of service so this may of been a factor as the service wasn't brilliant either. For the price paid I left feeling disappointed.
