"This unassuming strip mall spot serves several platters that promise days worth of leftovers. The Sinaloa platter comes with a chicken tamale, a chicken enchilada, and a cheese-stuffed chile relleno, all complemented by pinto beans, Mexican rice, sour cream, and pico de gallo. Don’t skip dessert, especially the dense and decadent homemade tres leches cake topped with whipped cream." - Tierney Plumb, Eater Staff

Great experience going here my first time. Wonderful, friendly staff who welcome you from the moment you walk in. Then there’s the food. First we had the shrimp in the cherry wine cream appetizer and we couldn’t stop dipping and tasting even after we were out of bread and shrimp…and chips. So good. We then tried the birria tacos and pescado criollo. The tilapia was perfectly cooked and the sauce was flavorful. The vegetables were fresh and even the rice and beans you could taste the love. The Birria was juicy and tender and it came with an amazing sauce made from the drippings and fresh veggies. Also the margaritas are giant!! Highly recommend. -Mr.Chris

First time here - food and service was fantastic. We got the traditional ceviche, steak fajitas and chicken enchiladas. The food was very yummy and flavorful. We also tried the jamaica (hibiscus) drink and the maracuya (passion fruit) both really good. We’ll be back!

My husband and I stumbled across this little hidden gem in Walnut Hill Shopping Center a few weeks ago. The food was delicious & the service was wonderful as well...everyone was so friendly & welcoming! So far, we've had their food three times, & they never disappoint. I was working so I decided to do door dash today versus pickup & the food arrived perfectly packaged, super fresh & tasty...sharing a few pics of my meal (chicken fajitas, sweet plantains etc.) Looks like we'll become regulars 💕

Best mexican food i’ve had in a long time. Highly recommend getting a frozen spicy strawberry margarita! Employees were so sweet and welcoming. We’ll be back soon!

Very chill and laid back spot to have a nice lunch or intimate dinner. The staff is extremely nice and helpful and all of the food was freshly made and cooked to order so expect a slightly longer wait but it is absolutely worth it because it is hot and fresh. We ordered the maduros, guac and a chicken tamal as appetizers and for our entrees I had the Salmon A La Parilla and my bf had the Lomo Saltado. I believe the owners are Colombian so you can expect different flavors but still overall delicious food. We will definitely be back! The vibe amd service itself is enough for me to return.

Last year around November, I visited La Vina for the first time. I went there after reading about the woman owned restaurant in Gaithersburg serving delicious Latin cuisine in an article. Since that visit, every time I am in the DMV area, I try to go back for more of the warm welcome I receive when I walk in, the delicious and not overly greasy fried plantain and their retired beans that have 0 pork lard in it (😭 because equality! folks who can’t eat pork should be able to enjoy refried beans) and oh man the endless pours of agua fresca! On my recent visit I had fried flounder with plantains and beans and chicha morada to drink! When I asked for jamaica and they said no jamaica today but we have something kind of similar I did not hesitate to say “I’ll take it”. It’s a juice made from purple corn, limes, cinnamon, pineapples and water with added sugar and infused apples. chicha morada is a drink from the Andean region of Peru (where are my Peruvian foodie folks at?). Like everything else at La Vina, it was superb. I of course drank it all and cleared my plates leaving too full for dessert on this visit — but that’s a story for another time. If you’re a lover of food, and find yourself in Gaithersburg, RUN to La Vina beloved. They’ll welcome you like family.

My husband and I stumbled across this restaurant based on a Google search. The place is very inconspicuous from the outside and you can easily miss it. Step inside, it’s quite a big restaurant, very clean and extremely friendly staff. We ordered the birria tacos AND the plato parriada. Birria was phenomenal and the plato parriada was tasty and more than enough food for 4 people. We’ll be coming back.

Had fantastic experience eating dinner at La Vina. The staff was very welcoming and friendly and we were attended to very quickly upon arrival. The passion fruit drink was amazing! We ordered guacamole first and you can tell it is made with very fresh avocados, it tasted so good. We got chimichanga and carne asada and were blown away by the taste. Excited for the next opportunity to visit!

Yelp
Love it here! I like to start off with their big Sangrita drink. It sounds like it is: a mash up of sangria & and margarita & the large is pretty big. Deelish! The food is amazing & you really can't go wrong ordering whatever you like. I've had the enchiladas the 1st time I went as they're pretty safe & they were really good. My friend got the salmon & believe it or not it was incredible! I had serious entree envy. Other friend ordered the shredded chicken burrito & he said it was one of the best he's had- juicy chicken, just enough veg. The service is fantastic here. Very friendly and welcoming. Our server was our friend but the end of the meal. Love this place! As of June 2024 the strip mall they are in is undergoing renovations- it looks dark but they are Open!

Yelp
The exterior was undergoing an extensive remodeling when we dined here, and not just this restaurant. It was the entire shopping center. So, can't really fault them for this. But, parking was very tricky and sparse, so be aware before you go if the construction hasn't completed yet. The interior was nice, with a mirrored wall that made the space look bigger than it was. Good effect! There weren't a lot of diners when we went, but it was a Sunday evening. Not really prime time. Still, the place wasn't deserted, and they were still able to accommodate our rather large party easily. (There were eleven of us!) The service was pretty attentive even given our party size. I'm guessing this was due again to the rather low traffic they had. But, you could see all servers attending all guests too, so I think it was also their overall philosophy of customer service. Speaking of, our servers were friendly and helpful. The food was... a mixed bag. But, my dish? Oh, man. I would order those birria tacos 10 times out of 10!! They were SO GOOD!! Plenty of cheese inside and a few crispy cheesy bits on the outside (tastiest part!)... and plenty of slow cooked flavorful shredded birria beef inside! And don't get me started on the consommé that accompanied it. I was so close to drinking the leftovers. These were quite probably the BEST birria tacos I've ever had! The other entrees didn't impress me as much, though. Not that they were bad! Just... uninspired. And I did try a bite of the seafood enchilada. I didn't like it. The seafood had an unpleasant taste, though I can't say it tasted "off" or "bad" or anything. It just didn't taste like... seafood? It was odd. The chile rellenos looked good, though! Nobody complained about their dishes, though, so I guess they were fine. Maybe I just wasn't in a seafood mood then, but even when I'm not... eh, moving on. We did have a few issues, though. The original order included 3 seafood chimichangas and 1 seafood enchilada. We received 3 enchiladas and 1 chimi, though. They did correct this quickly, though. Also, the chile relleno order was wrong... TWICE! Admittedly, the person ordering had a LOT of special requests. Nothing unheard of I guess, but the waitress clearly owned up to the fact that the kitchen screwed it up. They did make good on all these mistakes, though, and for the most part everyone got their food correctly. And it came out fresh and hot as well. So, how was it overall? Good! It's not the best Mexican (Tex-Mex?) place I've ever had, but... honestly... those were the best birria tacos I've ever had. I think I would avoid the seafood stuffed tortilla options here in the future, but I would order those tacos every single time. And if they were out, they had plenty of other items I was interested in.

Yelp
I came here for a Friday dinner with the wife, I was planning on ordering the tacos but ended up trying the Lomo Saltado and a "medium" sized margarita. The margarita was great and was much larger than I was expecting! The food was fantastic, fresh flavors and the steak was so tender. Our server was outstanding and made sure we were taken care of and happy with our food. There was plenty of seating available and a large parking lot out front. Overall I would definitely recommend checking this one out.

Yelp
I ordered some birria tacos for takeout with my sisters. They took foreverrrrr to come out, even though I ordered ahead of time. Inside was big and spacious. There were about two tables occupied so I didn't understand why the tacos took as long as they did. The employees were really nice and apologetic for the wait. I tried them as soon as we got home, which was shortly after, and they were already really cold. Although I'm a cheese lover, these were just too much for me. The cheese was an overkill and took away from the actual steak. I instantly got nauseous and couldn't enjoy them.

Chris P.

Yelp
I stopped by Friday afternoon for a late lunch. Wasn't too busy then so it was pretty chill inside. The staff was super friendly and got my food out fast. Everything came out hot and tasty. Those birria tacos were legit, the meat was tender and packed with flavor. Made me curious what this place is like when it's happy hour. Overall, had a solid meal and dug the relaxed vibe. La Vina is a great local spot to kick back and enjoy some tasty authentic birria whenever.

Yelp
I want to thank Kathy and staff for amazing food and customer service. We ordered fagitas for catering for our child's small family gathering and it was so delicious with outstanding customer service. Thank you so much for everything!!

Pooja S.

Yelp
Consistent and decent food here! I typically get pupusas which are great, but they are seemingly out of stock at this time. I usually order food here to go, and I had to call in our order since their online ordering system is not working right now, but someone answered immediately, told us our food would be ready in 20 min which it was, and we were able to pick up with no hassle! A lot of parking in this lot, and the to-go food comes well packaged in containers and plasticware. The food itself tasted great, I particularly enjoyed the chimichanga and the rice! They also provide chips and salsa, both of which are solid. Will definitely order from here again!

Yelp
My wife and I were shopping in Gaithersburg, Maryland on Tuesday and decided to try this obscure and unheralded Mexican strip mall restaurant for lunch again...we had not dined here for three years. It's located and the old walnut hill shopping center strip mall. As we entered the restaurant, we noticed its very nice clean, modern, and spacious décor. My wife ordered shrimp fajitas and I ordered steaks fajitas. Both were excellent and I especially liked the fact that I could specify the doneness of my steak... I requested my steak fajitas medium rare, and the steak was done perfectly. The shells on my wife's shrimp had to be peeled off but their delicious flavor made this minor inconvenience not a problem. The service was excellent and quite fast. The restaurant itself is very spacious, attractive, clean, and modern. The tile restrooms are also very clean and spacious. The charge for the two fajita meals and one diet Coke and one iced tea was $48 plus tip..... which was pretty pricey for lunch. But the fajitas were a large "dinner portion" meal. If you are on a luncheon budget either of the fajita entrées were large enough that they could be split reducing the cost of this lunch meal by 50%. This is still a quite nice restaurant with excellent fajitas. We will be back to enjoy their fajitas again when we are in the Gaithersburg, Maryland area.

Yelp
I did takeout here with my sisters. This was my first time trying birria tacos and though they were okay, they were not all what I imagined it to be, way too much cheese, like cheese overkill. Birria tacos are definitely overhyped in my opinion. However, I would not be opposed to coming back again to try something else.

Mario G.

Yelp
Small business in Gaithersburg full of energy and warm welcoming from the staff, that makes you feel surrounded of family and friends. Margaritas are amazing and Ofcourse their tex mex food menu. Don't miss on the ceviche it's delicious. Ofcourse cant miss brunch on weekends.

Michael R.

Yelp
Good food. Service a little slow, but the staff are very friendly and pleasant. We go frequently and they know us by name.

Lola J.

Yelp
I ordered the 3 beef tacos (tacos de Birria) that came with a consommé. Amazing. Service was fast and friendly. They are doing some facade changes out front, landlord? My husband had the chicken enchiladas and he really liked them. They give a green sauce with the chips that was very tasty. I would definitely come here again.

Katie M.

Yelp
The food and drinks are amazing! Miguel, Katy and Alejandro are the best! Service is good

Nneka M.

Yelp
Oh my goodness!! This was some of the best takeout Ive had in ages...I wish I would've known about this place sooner!! My food arrived hot and packaged well (via uber eats)..and all the meals were cooked to absolute perfection. The salmon with caper sauce...oh my lawd!! Super tasty..not over cooked...great portion size!! Nachos...with all the fixings on the side (salsa, sour cream, guacamole)..is always a solid choice. Lomo Saltado (traditionally a Peruvian street food dish) was well seasoned and tender.....however, I would've preferred the fries be served on the side to maintain a little crunch. I'll definitely order from here again..Highly recommend if you're in the area!!

Yelp
I wanted to order something quick for take out since I had to catch a movie showing afterwards. I decided to try La Viña Mexican Grill because I never had before and their menu sounded like it had a lot of delicious food options. I ordered tacos de birria, tres leches, and platanos for myself and I was beyond pleased. The tacos tasted so fresh, crispy in the right places, seasoned beautifully, and mouth-watering. The beef stew was incredible-- tons of flavors bursting in my mouth. The tres leches cake was so moist and perfectly sweet without being overly sweet. The platanos were caramelized so well. The chips were nice and light with a perfect crisp to them. The whole meal was completely satisfying and I told myself that I had to go back and order more one day. My family was also very satisfied with their food. Unfortunately I couldn't get a nice picture since they were so eager to eat their food and enjoyed it so fast. They ordered two whole fried fish, a cheese pupusa, and salmon. The fried fish was unbelievably crispy on the outside and fresh and tender on the inside. The fish meat literally melted away in your mouth-- that's how soft and juicy it was. The pupusa was so yummy and soft and cheesy in the center. The salmon was fresh and cooked very well with perfect seasoning. Overall, a very pleasant meal for the whole family and we will definitely be returning for more.

Yelp
Went for Cinco de Mayo and had a great experience. We had children with us and felt very comfortable. The service was great and food was excellent. My husband and I both said they probably have the best flan (both caramel and coffee flavored) and chicken quesadillas that we've had in a very long time. Their carne asada was also excellent with plenty of flavor. We will definitely be back for both dine-in and takeout orders.

Yelp
Excellent food and menu- our go to Mexican restaurant. Have only ever Done take out there.

Jen M.

Yelp
I loved this place. Went here on a whim, seeing the decent reviews on Yelp. Our waitress was fantastic, super friendly engaging with our kids. We went on a weekday so there was only one other family. The food was fantastic. They start you off with chips and salsa along with a green sauce. The green sauce was DELICIOUS!! I could eat it with anything ! We got the Orange pork, Lomo saltado, and the rainbow trout. The pork was the best, tender and the gravy on point. The Lomo was a little over cooked so the beef was a bit chewy. I doused the beef with that green sauce. The fish was fantastic too, although my hubby wished it was a bit more spicy. My kids loved the chicken quesadilla. I only wish they had margaritas as well. Hopefully they get their liquor license soon enough.

Tifani M.

Yelp
Their chips and salsa was fresh. I love how they have chunks of vegetables in the salsa. True Mexican restaurant move. I asked my steak to be medium but lots of restaurants don't know what medium is because I always get done. I don't understand what the hype was all about in the reviews but I'm glad I tried this place out.

Tiffany R.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my experience here. The food was delicious and my server was fun attentive. The tres leches cake was so good. I want to come back for just that.

D M.

Yelp
I can't even tell you how good this place is. I am not sure, but believe we have tried about half the items on the menu. Never once have I had anything I wouldn't order again. It is a family business, not a chain, so it benefits from the care people put into businesses (and their food) when it really matters to them what people think. They are nice people serving really good food. (And that green sauce is freakin awesome.) We are 2 vegetarians and 2 meat eaters and nobody goes hungry.

James T.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. There owner and staff are so nice and accommodating. You always have a sense that you are visiting friends or family. The birria tacos are fantastic and filling. The daily specials are where it's at. The place is in a nondescript strip mall that you have to look for. If you like Mexican or Tex-Mex you will like this place.

Doreen M.

Yelp
On Cinco de Mayo, I decided to order to-go chimichangas from a local Mexican Restaurant. I was in line to order for 15 minutes and when it was my turn, I was told that take out orders were discontinued. I called La Vina Mexican Grill and Manuel respectfully and kindly took my order for pick-up. LaVina restaurant is now my favorite Mexican restaurant that can be depended on for great food.

Monica B.

Yelp
Oh, my goodness!! tacos Birria are super tasty I will definitely order it again.wow wow

Jeni S.

Yelp
2018 - while the food and service are great - they have opted to not serve any alcohol. On one hand - that is okay. Don't always need a drink when eating out. But they are a bit too high scale for no beer or wine. Afraid this gem will lose quite a bit of business due to this - no happy hour, no beer with the sports on the tv over what used to be the bar, and no glass of wine for the evening toast with a great meal. The food is still great. Service as well. 2016 - Nice little gem tucked into a strip mall location. Been several times - and never disappointed. Friendly staff, great food, nice ambience and cultural music. Great place to enjoy dinner or to gather and celebrate life or events with friends.

Kelly F.

Yelp
Found this place from a search on Yelp when we had a soccer tournament nearby. The location in a run down strip mall may make you miss this gem. The decor inside is warm and welcoming, as was the greeting we received when we entered. A quick glance around this restaurant told us that customers come here probably know their Mexican food, and we knew we were going to enjoy it. The chips and salsa brought to the table while we looked over the menu were fresh and tasty, and the additional guacamole and queso dip were very good. The portions were a bit smaller then what we were used to, and they did not offer to refill the salsa, but otherwise they were fine. Our teenager and I both ordered the birria tacos (I don't see this on the online menu, but it was a new item) which were filled with shredded beef. He loved the spicy chimichuri sauce that came with them. The other entree ordered was the salmon a la parilla, which comes with a creamy sauce. It was reportedly delicious. Several other entrees and desserts that came past our table looked yummy. If you are in the Gaithersburg area, give La Vina Mexican Grill a try!

Geovanni T.

Yelp
Great family owned restaurant with new management, major improvement in food quality and overall atmosphere. There is a variety of Latin American dishes to chose from Mexican Fajitas to authentic Peruvian Ceviche. I got the pollo salteo and man I am a huge fan of pollo saltado and always get it at other Peruvian restaurants, but this chef is on point with the seasoning and quality taste of a GOOD pollo saltado and Lomo that my mom got had big chunks of Lomo (beef) and the deliciously seasoned veggies that add taste to the dish served with white rice..... Highly recommend to try out this place the staff here will make you want to feel at home like family and come back to see big smiles on everyone get ready to be treated with the best customer service that a Latin American Restaurant in this area has!!!

Sharlene E.

Yelp
Tried it for first time. Did carry out and the food was very good. Staff was very nice. Would go there again when in area.

Christina F.

Yelp
La Viña Mexican Grill has a cozy and authentic atmosphere. I highly recommend for all those looking for a delicious and fresh Fiesta for your tummy!!

Samantha L.

Yelp
Alicia's Mexican Grill is an authentic Mexican restaurant located in the Walnut Hill Shopping Center. They have a big parking lot out in the front of restaurant. I started my meal with Tamal de Elote, which consisted of a sweet corn cake on a corn husk with sour cream. For lunch, I ordered the Camarones Catalana (without green and red peppers). It consisted of Spanish-style shrimp sautéed with tomatoes, garlic cloves, white wine, and olive oil, garnished with fresh cilantro, and served with broccoli and half of a medium-sized potato. It was savory, flavorful, and simply delicious.

John S.

Yelp
I came here on a Sunday night. Aside from a party and another table, it was empty. The decor was nice and suitable for a romantic atmosphere. I had the vegetable enchilada and it tasted decent. The tortilla chips they provided were a bit soaked in oil. The salsa was ok although they put peppers in there. The service attitude could use improvement. When I ordered my entree, the server responded with "that's it?" as if it wasn't enough. When I asked for more chips and salsa, she brusquely told me only one per table. This is the first time I have ever encountered a sit down Mexican restaurant that does not offer unlimited chips and salsa. I don't forsee myself ever coming back.

Neal E.

Yelp
We had a late dinner in here on evening. The place was empty when we arrived on a Thursday evening around 8:30 pm. I ordered the Burrito with ground beef. It is smothered in cheese and served with rice and beans. I ignored the rice due to my being on a low carb diet. Food was very tasty. Service was good!

Stepan K.

Yelp
You definitely get what are you paying for. Nice food, tasty rice. Good luck to get more customers

Ana T M.

Yelp
This is the go to restaurant now. New management, the food and service is great. Yes, the menu says Mexican but it has Peruvian food in it as well and guys... Trust me! It's the best thing ever! Ceviche, jalea, lomo saltado, etc... Breakfast, lunch and dinner is great. You gotta try it! It's very "homy" and clean!

Penni P.

Yelp
You'll be made to feel right at home here. The service is extremely friendly and efficient. Our server treated us like family and we knew from the start, we were valued customers. We had combination platters and were well-pleased with the quality, quantity, preparation and presentation. Overall, the food met our expectations or went beyond. Their green hot sauce could be a little less timid, but it was tasty. We ate all of it! There is no bar service, but plenty of other beverage choices are available. Parking is plentiful and close-by. Family friendly. Apparently, this restaurant is a best kept secret and it shouldn't be. I hope more people discover this gem.

Tabatha C.

Yelp
I just have to come back and say, this place is still killing it and being amazing. Your delivery is so fast which is so important to me. I'm a new mom so going out to eat is pretty hard for me. I never want to deal with the hassle of getting the baby into the car and making sure she stays content for the whole experience, even though the last time we brought her out to Alicia's, she did great. She's a pretty chill baby and was perfectly happy hanging out while mama ate her enchiladas and sipped on her Maracuya. This place is always my go-to delivery pick. Chips and salsa for days. Yes please.

Marcie E.

Yelp
We ordered the filet mignon fajitas and they were horrible! Dry and fatty...how is that even possible The worst fajitas I've ever had!

Ellen L.

Yelp
above average mexican restaurant, mainly due to the very attentive service that we received. mom, dad and i came here for an early dinner so we were seated right away. we were given a table in the center of the dining area, which was nice since we could see everything (and everyone). immediately after receiving our menus, we ordered drinks, water for me and hot water for the parents, which were brought out almost immediately. we started with a couple side orders of beans, black beans and pinto beans, and these were really good. the beans were soft and served in just the right amount of soup. i appreciated that they weren't too heavily salted. for my main, i ordered the chicken salad which consisted of iceberg lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, shredded carrots, sliced avocado, and a generous portion of grilled and seasoned chicken breast. the chicken was very good and i could tell they prepared it well, whether it was marinated or seasoned. i also appreciated the generous serving considering i've ordered chicken salad at other restaurants and received only a few small chunks of chicken on the salad. the avocado was also very fresh and gave this salad some texture. mom and dad ordered an enchilada plate to share and it was presented beautifully! their plate included black beans, rice, enchilada, shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes with sour cream. while i didn't try any of this (watching my figure even during the holidays) they finished every bite and said that it was very good. our waitress came by several times to ask how the food was, whether we needed anything else, and whether we needed drink refills. she was attentive without being overly attentive (some places ask so many times you'd think they were trying to get rid of you or have nothing better to do!) our bill came promptly, we paid, left a nice tip, and headed on our way. while on the slightly pricier side, i'd recommend this restaurant for their solid food and superb service.

Yelp
When I first came to Alicia's Mexican Grill, I wasn't expecting much. It's in one of those small shopping centers with the generic red signs. I was surprised when I got in the decor was nice and seemed a little classier than what I was expecting. Our servers were very good. They were friendly and constantly refilled our water. I really appreciated that. We came for a friend's bday and they brought out a sombrero and a tres leche cake, which was delicious. They had free chips and salsa out which was nice and homemade, but watery. As an app we ordered the mussels which was only $7. The portion for the mussels were huge and they tasted great. Good seafoody flavor. I ordered the Lomo Saltado, which was steak in a Peruvian Sauce with French Fries and the bf ordered beef and chicken fajitas. I thought the Lomo Saltado was just ok. I kinda assumed the portions would be huge since the mussels came with so much. The dish looked big, but it was mainly all veggies with pieces of steak. It came with a bowl of black beans, which were ok and rice. I thought I would be getting a lot of fries since that's what they advertised, but it was only a handful of fries mixed in. The fries were soggy from soaking up the sauce, but it tasted great! The fries were the best part of the dish. The pieces of steak were dry despite there being Peruvian sauce. The dish was missing garlic. I would not order this dish again. The bf's fajitas smelled delicious when it came out. I wanted to switch haha. Again the dish looked huge, but the meat proportion was small. It came with 4 strips of chicken and 4 strips of steak. I loved the strips of steak! It had a perfect grilled flavor, so good. And it had grilled bits of garlic! No wonder it was so good. The chicken was ok. If I had to go back I would order the beef fajitas.

Dixon M.

Yelp
I visited Alicia's at 7 on a Saturday evening. The restaurant had hardly any other customers. The staff were very friendly, and the space was appealing. I ordered an"ultimate margarita." The drink was delicious, but I should have asked the price first! For about a 6-ounce drink, the charge was $10. With my margarita came chips and salsa. The salsa was oddly devoid of flavor, except for a lot of oregano. I asked if they had a spicier salsa (most Mexican restaurants do), and they brought me a small bowl of hot sauce out of a bottle. The beef and chicken fajitas were unsatisfactory. Dry chicken and beef, and TINY (about a teaspoon each) portions of guacamole and sour cream. The order came with two small flour tortillas (certainly not enough for fajitas.) I asked more more tortillas. They brought one, obviously out of the microwave oven, and charged me $1` for ONE TORTILLA. Ridiculo!

Yelp
This is a pretty good restaurant. It was our first time. We walked in and the gentleman sat us down and was really attentive and nice. Need I mention this restaurant was open while almost everywhere was close due to the snow. We sat down and they started us off with chips and salsa. Then followed by complementary quesadilla. Very nice of the owner for a nice gesture. The food was on point. I really cannot complain at all about the food. Everything was good. The place had a nice setup and clean. Overall I believe it was a good experience for my first time. This place is really underrated. Idk what the past experience was like but I must say everything been great.

Brian L.

Yelp
I'm really stuck in between a three and a four star review. The service was incredible but the food was just decent. Service is a big part of the dining experience so Ill bump them up a star for that. The servers were naturally enthusiastic and pleasant. Offered suggestions, always kept the drinks full and the chips and salsa flowing. For Tex mex style food I normally going to Uncle Julio's or Guapos which are both pretty damn good. Definitely a notch below those restaurants but a notch up from most of the independent local Mexican restaurants that all kind of taste the same. Started with chips and salsa, then Chile con queso, and cheese enchiladas for my entree. I am looking forward to trying Dulcinea to see how it compares. Uncle Julio's is my favorite but it's a pain in the neck trying to get a table and it's expensive. I'll continue my search for a solid go to Mexican restaurant and I would go back to Alicia's but I won't long for it.

Yelp
Steak quesadilla was delicious and steak was perfectly grilled. Steak burrito also terrific with rice and beans. The flan is a must - I always get it when available - but this one is homemade and makes you want seconds even after being overly stuffed!!

Yelp
This place is one of my favorites! Good food, good service, great people! Would 10/10 recommend you dine in if ya have the time! if not then get it for carry out. DO NOT GO THROUGH GRUB HUB FOR DELIVERY! I tried to order some for delivery through grub hub the other day and the driver was over an hour late and when i called to find out whats going on they ended up cancelling my order n telling me to reorder. It was a shit show and i ended up having to go pick up my food. It may have been an isolated incident but im not gonna take my chances with grubhub anymore. Thankfully the staff at this place was nice enough to remake my order so id get warm food :)

Yelp
The food here is amazing. The shredded chicken in my taco salad was juicy and seasoned perfectly and so tender. Nice chunky shreds (not stringy) of chicken that I could have eaten just by itself it was so good. The service was great but considering we were the only ones in the restaurant for 90% of our meal I would expect great service. The menu was extensive and I think "Peruvian" should be added to their description along with Mexican/ Spanish because there were just as many Peruvian dishes offered as Mexican. Inside is gorgeous and there is a lovely outdoor seating area next to a water feature that screams "Come have a margarita here after work." What I did not think went well with the ambiance was the white cloth table cloths and fancy folded up napkins as this is a rather inexpensive although delicious restaurant, (28$ fed 2) the cloth table cloths covered lovely high shined wood tables and also the Spanish music was so low that I could hear the hum of the ac unit. I could really see this place becoming popular if maybe they advertised more or even had a sign spinner on the corner wearing a sombrero to capture attention. The bar area was lovely although empty and there were many happy hour choices. I went around 5:00 pm on a Wednesday and there was just no one in there. Great potential to become the neighborhood hang out if more people knew about the place. Food is outstanding. Fresh and delicious.

Yelp
So I called 7 different places and they were all closed because of the snow storm And then spotted this little gem on yelp. It has a 4 star rating and close to Germantown I told my hubby. This is the spot for tonight. I Called and gentleman said come on In were open! very welcoming. So we put our coats and met up with our friends. We were greeted with a big welcoming smile. We ordered tostones for appetizer and nachos.I always love them with melted cheese and the waiter said no problem will make Them the way you like! I felt great I felt like I was at my grandma house making a special request. My fajita arrived shortly After my appetizer they were sizzling and sooooo Delicious. I enjoyed it to the last bite. I really enjoyed this place will be back soon and really loved the service and The special attention we were given as first timers.

Yelp
So I've frequented this place countless times and I love it. These other people may have a point, the salsa you get with the chips is watery but that's not what you go there for. I personally recommend the carne asada. It is amazing!!!!! And Maria (waitress) is the absolute sweetest. If you're not an insanely rude person she will treat you like family.

Yelp
Great sit down Mexican place in Gaithersburg! Ever since they opened a couple of months ago I was eager to try the food and it did not disappoint! First impression upon walking in is how great the place looks. Nice decor, clean and comfortable. The second thing I noticed was how friendly the staff is. I've been helped by 3 different people on 2 separate visits and they have all been off the charts friendly and attentive. Now on to the food and drinks. I unfortunately don't remember the exact name of my dish but all you need to know is it had a chicken enchilada, tamale, some sort of chili relleno and it was DELICIOUS! My wife got the chicken and steak fajitas which were also very tasty, tender, and spiced well. We also ordered a Margarita pitcher which was awesome, but in retrospect was probably too much for 2 people to share. Oh well, I had fun and left full and happy. That's just about as good as it gets!

Yelp
I ordered food from here. Delivery was fine but the quality of food is not. The crab quesadillas were salty and ceviche was so disappointing. The quality of the fish was not fresh and shouldn't be used in raw dishes like ceviche to begin with, not cleaned well, and pieces were cut unevenly. Basically it was really unappetizing and inedible. First time I couldn't eat a ceviche dish.

Yelp
The food was alright. I got enchiladas and my husband got the steak fajitas. He liked the steak, and I was able to finish my enchiladas but they lacked heat and flavor. This is better than Guapo's, however I've still get to find a place that serves Mexican food that's as good as the places I left back in Atlanta. The best way to describe these is they taste like white people made them. White people who knew Mexicans, but still white people.‍
