"Ever wish you could have been in certain rooms when important historical decisions were being made? We do. Some of those instances include the White House Situation Room during the Cuban Missile Crisis, Portland Trailblazers “war room” when they took Sam Bowie over Michael Jordan, or the 2006 meeting where movie executives decided that former N.W.A member Ice Cube was the perfect fit for a family fun movie full of laughs (“Are We Done Yet?” - 3.9 IMDB rating). Well you can add a new one to the list, because we wish we could have told the people who decided to pour all their money into Labriola Ristorante that it was a bad idea. And our guess is they poured a lot of money into this place, because it’s off of Michigan Avenue and Grand, and it’s massive, which you realize after seeing the large dining room hidden behind what already feels like a big space. If you’re familiar with the Purple Pig, Labriola is similarly situated on the upper part of Grand before it transitions below. The restaurant is split into the “Cafe” and “Ristorante.” The cafe is a glorified Panera, and it is what it is. If you work in the area, are a tourist, or happen to be doing touristy Michigan Avenue things, then we can maybe see popping in for a quick sandwich or coffee on the cafe side while on the go. But the Ristorante part would be a waste of your time. Simply put - it’s bad food. Pizza that disappoints, squid ink pasta that needs to be rethought, and poorly executed appetizers all make you shrug your shoulders while saying meh. We know there’s a successful location in Oak Brook, but it feels like they took a strip mall concept and stuck it into prime Michigan Avenue space. We get it, there’s a tourist population to cater to, but Labriola has a serious dining room meant for full-blown serious dinners. There’s no reason for anyone to pay $25-$30 for entrees or $50 for steaks and chops at a place like this. If you’re going to spend that kind of money on food, spend it somewhere else. Food Rundown Prosciutto Wrapped Chicken Panini It's an OK sandwich. The chicken is a little cafeteria lunch meat-like, but it's grilled well with solid oven roasted tomatos and a pesto mayo. Baby Escarole Salad Served with pancetta, shaved pecorino, and a poached egg. The lettuce once came out warm and the bacon is overcooked and over-salted. Squid Ink Campanelle Pasta Sounds great on paper, but the execution misses the mark. We like fishy- tasting things, but squid ink pasta shouldn't taste this fishy. The calamari in it is downright chewy too. Roman Artichoke Fried artichoke with olives and parsley. The artichokes are terribly bland, and the only flavor that remotely shows is from the olives. Salsiccia Pizza Topped with fennel sausage, tomato, basil, and mozzarella. The pizza crust is good, but the problem is bad cheese. Rarely do we notice bad cheese on a pizza, but this feels like a bunch of Kraft singles were thrown around." - Sam Faye

1st time trying this restaurant and I loved it. Great ambiance, mood lighting and great pizza. I ordered the calamari and margherita pizza. Especially love the private dining rooms for extra space and privacy. Everything was served hot and fresh. Prickly pear margaritas were delightful. I will be back. Shout out to the bar staff and Host/Hostess Ivan & Debbie this evening. So super friendly.

One of my favorite go to pizza spots! We usually have the Danny special but this time was craving a deep dish pepperoni pizza it was so good 10/10. We also ordered the Salmon with a side of mash potatoes flavors were really good. And of course I had to get some French fries on the side cause they are one of my favorites. The service was great the atmosphere had holiday cheer very festive for Christmas. This place never disappoints Oh and also grabbed a donut and cookie to go 🤤

We had our wedding at Labriola in October 2024. Overall, it was completely beautiful and everything we dreamed of, and we would absolutely do it again if we had the option. The patio was the perfect space to showcase our love and have all of our friends and family there for an intimate dinner party wedding. The good: The food was phenomenal. We are still getting compliments on the food two months later and I have had people tell us they wish they were at our wedding because they heard the food was so good. and the space was absolutely beautiful. Our head bartender Julie was the perfect bartender. She was so knowledgeable and attentive. All of our guests absolutely loved her and all of the bar staff! The weather was absolutely amazing so we were able to have the patio walls open still for late October. Everyone had so much fun and went home with very full bellies and warm hearts! The not so good: Leading up to our wedding, there was a turnover in events directors at the beginning Amy the new director immediately missed our first meeting, but I was understanding as she was new and it takes some time to get things sorted, but this was never the case as all the way leading up to the wedding, she missed other meetings with us. her communication was completely awful. There were multiple times that I reached out to her with questions and she wouldn’t send a response and I would have to follow up at a minimum of two times for answers which most of the time I never got answers to those questions. To this day there are still questions that I have not gotten answers to. She was sending me space options all the way up until the day prior to the wedding when I had tried to sort these things out with her for weeks and months prior. I sent her our menu a full month prior to the event in order for them to have everything set in stone when it came to dinner time at the wedding my husband and I noticed that there were only thin crust pizzas and we requested deep dish pizzas. After my husband finally tracked Aimee down in the restaurant she said to us “I knew about the deep dish pizzas, but they weren’t on the kitchen ticket, but that’s not my fault“ But that is her fault since she was the one who set up our menu for our wedding. After this we were told we would need to wait 40 minutes for the deep dish pizzas to come out, which was frustrating because we paid an additional fee for each guest for those deep dish pizzas as well as having to tell all of those guests that they now needed to not fill up on the food that they already had because there would be more coming. When those deep dish pizzas finally came out they all came out with the incorrect toppings they were supposed to be vegetarian, deep dish, pizzas, and everyone came out with meat. When the desert came out the cannolis were sour, wet, and soggy, but the donuts were huge hit! When we asked her to turn off the heaters on the patio because it was a beautiful evening she actually didn’t know how to turn them off and had to ask the bar staff (shout out Julie again) . When she turned on the firepit, she almost lit my aunt on fire. Overall though it was a wonderful, beautiful, incredible day, and I got to marry the love of my life, so all of the little things really don’t matter in the grand scheme of it. We can not wait to come back to dine with Labriola again!

Service, food, and atmosphere were excellent! Great place for an Italian style dinner and many menu items to choose from. I enjoyed the margarita pizza as well as the fried ravioli and loved both dishes.

We went to Labriola Ristorante on Sunday, January 19, 2025. We specifically selected a Sunday, and made reservations, because we have been here before and we love their skinny deep dish pizza. However, at this location, they only serve the skinny deep dish on Sundays, so Sunday it was. We arrived at Labriola for our reservation and we were greeted by the hostess, who promptly took us to our table. My boyfriend requested that we be seated in the dining room when he saw that the hostess was seating us in the bar area. We were told that they were closing the dining room and that we couldn't be seated there, despite seeing several people already seated there. So we took our seats at a table in the bar area. The waitress came over and took our drink orders. She came back with the drinks, and we were ready to order. First, we placed our order for the garlic knots, which we have had before and our previous experience had us salivating for more. Next, we placed our order for the skinny deep dish pizza. We were immediately told "sorry, we can't take your order for deep dish. We don't have any dough." WHAT??!!! Deep dish pizza is what they are known for! How can you not have any dough?? We were so disappointed, we almost cancelled our order and left. But we decided to order the Neapolitan pizza instead. Our garlic knots came out shortly after we placed the order. They were not the same garlic knots that we had a few weeks ago. The dough was dense (it is supposed to be light and flaky, like croissants) and they were just not good. We asked the waitress to have the kitchen remake them. As we were waiting for our garlic knots, we asked the waitress to check on our pizza. Turns out, it was already ready. She brought the pizza out and we dug in. Honestly, the pizza was fine. Not great, but fine. I wouldn't come here for fine pizza. The dough was good. Chewy. Sauce and cheese were... fine. As we were eating the pizza, garlic knots part 2 came out. Not great timing. We tried the garlic knots again, and realized that the problem with the garlic knots was the dough. No matter how many times we ordered them, they were going to come out the same. Interestingly enough, as we were eating our pizza, another group (maybe 3 or 4 people) came into the restaurant, and they were seated in the dining room area. The same area we had requested to be seated and were told that it was closing. This was disappointing to see, as we would not have chosen the bar to sit in, as there were TV's on and that was not the scene we were looking for. We were almost finished when the manager came over to clear some plates from our table. My boyfriend asked if she was the manager. She confirmed that she was. We told her about our disappointment in the garlic knots and the unavailability of pizza dough. She did acknowledge our disappointment, and took the garlic knots off of our bill. She wanted us to "end on a sweet note" so she offered us a complimentary dessert. We ordered the chocolate cake, which was very good. Honestly, if we had never been to Labriola before today, we would never come back. Tonight's experience was that bad. I just do not understand how a restaurant known for their pizza can run out of dough! We will be back, but cautiously. And we will call ahead of time to make sure they have dough. And cheese. And sauce. And... you get it.

Such an amazing casual intimate restaurant! The hostesses were so sweet at recognizing my fiancé's medical alert service dog, and how she is a true ADA medical alert dog for his seizures. They were so kind to us! The waitress was super sweet! The food was absolutely amazing! We ordered the Garlic knots as an appetizer. I had the eggplant permasean with spaghetti it was amazing! He had the Gnocci and loved it! The spicey margarita was made amazing ! Definitely a great experience. We reserved a spot a head of time, the waitresses and bus guys were fast and everyone was so polite and friendly! Thank you for making date night great!

Stopped in for lunch with a friend. The restaurant was not crowded. They have seats by the bar with big screens. They also have tables indoors and outdoors (but the doors were open). They have a large menu with lots of options. We tried the chicken parmesan and the tomato cream gnocchi. Both were good. We also tried the fresh cut fries and the deep dish pizza. Both were delish. The pizza could definitely use more sauce. If I were to stop in again, I would try the thin crust. Service was good. Lots of managers walk around and check on tables. I'm not sure if they have dessert. We weren't offered any. Our check was brought to us when we asked for to go containers.

Be wary of the catering menu. We ordered a half pan of meatballs for Christmas Eve. For $80, we received a pan with 8 meatballs. The entire portion - including the pan, sauce, and meatballs, was less then 3 pounds. On their catering menu, they do not list the quantity you will receive, but a quick review of other restaurants in the area would have informed me that for less than $80, I can receive 24 meatballs from other establishments. I do enjoy the food here, but that is egregious. I did call to convey my concerns. I was told the meatballs for their holiday catering were a little bigger than their typical meatball (regular ones must be really small!). LaBriola did offer to provide additional meatballs for another $80 which I declined. We will never order catering here again.
