The Best Restaurants in Rosemary Beach, Florida | Eater New Orleans

"Just a short bike ride or walk from Rosemary sits LaCo, a breezy, crowd-pleasing coastal Latin restaurant with tons of seating and parking. To keep things light, try one of the ceviches or a salad. For old-school American Mexican cuisine, crunchy tacos with ground beef and shredded cheddar will fit the mood. Seafood is the star, though, with seafood empanadas, crab taquitos, and lobster tacos and quesadillas, in addition to the menu of different ceviches. Though there is tons of seating, this restaurant packs a crowd during dinner, and the restaurant doesn’t take reservations." - Stephanie Carter

We ordered the ceviche, guacamole and tacos to share. The food was great! Unfortunately, the service fell short and we went for extended periods without a waitress. Don't order a mojito.

Amazing location. Our first time making this part of the Florida coast. Seaside is like a step out of reality… like into a movie. (IYKYN) I would not like to see what this area looks like in the middle of summer. High season. We walked up to LaCo. With a group of 13. No wait. Seated immediately Wow! Good drinks. Loved the guacamole app. And we got queso app. Chips are great and the salsa not too spicy… a little sweetness to it. I liked it a lot. Tacos are great. Classic beef and the chicken. Side order of Beans were huge… be sure to share. Good atmosphere. Service was good for our big group. Just not overly friendly. But no would definitely go back even with a lot of other choices in the area.

Visited for dinner. There were 7 of us in our party. The restaurant is spacious inside with a good atmosphere. We all shared 3 appetizers: chips with a flight of sauces, chips and guacamole, and seafood empenadas. The appetizers were very good. We all ordered various entrees. I had the shrimp burrito. Overall, the entree choices are unique with Latin spices and flair added to what a lot of times would be just basic Mexican food. While the visit was good, the extra kick of spices in what I had, I thought was a little too much, and I felt it later on. The prices were okay, but a little on the high side. The restaurant in the end was okay. However, not one that I would go back to.

Google
I had a yummy watermelon margarita with basil. Our friends both had house margaritas. Unfortunately I got caught up with chatting and did not take pics of the food. We started with charred tomato salsa and chips they were fantastic. We also really enjoyed the Laco style queso dip! Hubby had chicken nachos that he really enjoyed. I had the chicken quesadilla. Our friends ordered fajitas and a chimichanga they also enjoyed their meals. We are glad we made it here this trip!

Service was great, food was good. The AC did not seem to be working very well but we were happy to be out the sun! Super family friendly!

Google
I got the Mahi tostadas and for $36, I was expecting more fish than the 3 finger sized pieces that I received. The flavors were good, just lacking in portion size. All beverages were $4-$20. The chips and dip were fantastic. I just wish the portion. Was bigger for the price paid.

Google
It's definitely an excellent choice if you're looking for something higher quality and a departure from the typical Mexican food you find all over the US. I recommend trying new flavors — the empanadas were delicious, and the Peruvian ceviche and calamari were incredible. Also, the cocktails were very well prepared. I highly recommend this place, especially if you want to enjoy the outdoor atmosphere! The service was excellent, the guy who helped us was wonderful."

Google
We had a good experience at this spot in Rosemary Beach! The food was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. We ordered the steak and chicken fajitas, while the kids enjoyed the chicken quesadilla — everything was delicious. The service was excellent as well, making the meal even more enjoyable. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We stopped in for lunch on a rainy beach day and were absolutely blown away by how delicious the food was. We started with margaritas and chips with salsa--both fresh and flavorful. I ordered the crab taquitos while my husband had the braised chicken enchiladas, and we shared street corn and black beans. Every dish was outstanding. Normally, we don't gravitate toward elevated Mexican food, but this meal completely won us over. Our server, Katelyn, was warm and attentive, and the restaurant itself strikes the perfect balance--beautiful and upscale, yet relaxed and welcoming. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
We are on vacation and tried this place out for dinner as it was close to our air-bnb. Monday night, not real crowded, and we got seated right away. Then we waited... and waited... and waited. Ten minutes after being seated someone came by and apologized for us not being waited on yet. She took our drink order and assured us our server would be right with us. He came by after another 5 minutes and apologized that we had to wait. We ordered the empanadas, hot queso, and shrimp ceviche. The queso came out with a basket of chips, but had little to no flavor or spice. Another person (manager?) came over and asked how things were and I told her the "hot" queso had no spice. She apologized and said it should have been served either a side of hot sauce that could be added. She quickly brought out the side of sauce and apologized saying that she knew we had to wait longer than we should have to be waited on and that they would comp the queso (which they did). The ceviche and empanadas arrived soon after. The ceviche was a bit watery, but very tasty. Chunks of shrimp, avocado and pickled red onion provided a great flavor balance. It was served with a basket of chips. The empanadas (3) were served on a large bed of chopped slaw that paired nicely with the empanadas. The empanadas were a little too greasy for my taste, but had a nice tasty filling. They were also served with a very tasty avocado sauce. I asked for some additional hot salsa and we were brought a small bowl of a pineapple-habanero sauce that had nice heat and was quite tasty. All in all it was a satisfactory meal, but they need to focus a bit more on ensuring folks are served in a reasonable amount of time. The menu is a bit limited, but we would like to return and try some of the other dishes. Overall: Service - 6/10 Food - 8/10 Ambiance - 8/10 Value - 8/10 It's worth a try. We likely just had a less than good experience just from luck of the draw.

Yelp
Terrible all the way around. Waiter came to our table a grand total of four times. The food tasted okay, but the portions were very small! We went out to eat multiple times over the last week and this was the only restaurant we left hungry and the most expensive meal. We had our children with us and were clearly set in the "child" section. Which I can understand but the table behind me had 6-8 teens with no adult. I was hit in the head with a backpack while they were being seated. Then they were using profanity so loud and repeatedly I asked them to stop. I understand this is not in the restaurants control but what they could have done was not set us back to back as I was facing three empty tables all the same size. Overall the food was fair at best. Service was a joke, and then you add in the rude teens behind us... we will never be back.

Yelp
Really amazing takeout experience here! We decided to picnic on the beach, and tacos were the best choice. The food was ultra authentic, the serving sizes were plentiful, and the ultimate rockstar of the evening was the street corn!
google avatar

Yelp
We ordered laco for takeout for a night in on a bachelorette and it was good. A bit pricey for what you get but it got the job done. The enchiladas were definitely my favorite with the shredded chicken, the chicken and shrimp fajitas were just okay and the hot sauces weren't very spicy or flavorful.
google avatar

Rhianna S.

Yelp
The food for lunch was not that great, the shrimp tacos say they have slaw - it's lettuce basically. Very bland compared to our experience 3 years ago. The staff also was kinda of rude. Our drinks were not good and when she added sweetener she said that's a true Fresca but any I've ever had didn't taste like old carbonated water. Would not recommend and will not be back.
google avatar

Jerod S.

Yelp
The food itself is pretty standard. Solid portions, all the menu items you'd expect from a Mexican food joint, etc. What really stood out to me was our waiter, Stone, who went above and beyond to take care of us. You're my boy, Stone!
google avatar

Allison L.

Yelp
Craving chips and queso (from Texas), looked on yelp to find a suitable option. Instead of searching "Mexican food", I knew better and searched "Latin food". Pretty good options with better priced queso than a place closer to where The Rosemary Beach Inn. Being the middle of a week in an off-peak season, there was only two other parties on the patio. The service was great with a laid back and attentive style. The salsa was good, the queso was okay. But they did the trick for me! Enjoyed a white sangria and a grilled shrimp taco. Appropriate music and great vibe!

Sissy R.

Yelp
I arrived and didn't see the wrong door sign, it also says pull on the door so just made an inference. A worker came up to the door and very loudly and obnoxiously banged on the no entry sign. I am a short person and didn't see the sign and after she banged she closed the blinds. Came off as very rude and unprofessional will never come here again.

Yelp
I love LaCo. I come every time I'm in Seacrest. Their queso is my absolute favorite queso of all time. I love the service, specifically Salina, she is the best. She is very attentive and always quick with all of the drinks and food. They have changed the ambiance a bit over the years, and I'm not a fan of the more modernized look that they have going now, but I do love how clean it is all of the time. They do a great job maintaining a clean space- bathrooms included. Oh- and they now serve La Crema fondues AT LaCo because they are owned by the same people. Talk about a perfect combo. Queso and margs for my entree- with chocolate fondue as my dessert?! It doesn't get much better than that.

Joelle B.

Yelp
A vacation staple for our family!! We have been coming here on day 1 of our vacation since before the new name! The chips and queso are hands down the BEST I've ever had!! Chips are thin and the queso has so much flavor!! Crowd pleaser for my family of ten! It's a little overpriced but everything on 30A is! Food pics below but try the street corn as well!! no pic of the corn but ya gotta try it!
google avatar

Tarnisha N.

Yelp
From beginning to end my friends and I enjoyed everything. There was a group of four of us and I don't feel that we had to wait long at all the food was great and the drinks were even better. I personally never send food back but 2 of my friends sent food back and there was no fuss from the staff over it. I would definitely go back here!

Yelp
I was really excited to try this restaurant because I had never had seafood Latin American fusion. I had the lobster quesadilla and a side of the street corn and I was very impressed with both! However my family got burritos and two of them left feeling sick. It could have been many things that contributed to that but it was one of the reasons I deducted a star. It was a cute restaurant and a lot bigger than I thought it would be and it's located in an active spot with markets and live music. Another reason I deducted a star was for the service. I felt like our server did not want to be there because she was short with us and forgot a few things that we had to ask for a couple of times.

Laura M.

Yelp
I ate here several years ago and thought that I didn't need to return but decided to pop in after a walk for lunch. I'm really glad that I did. Met the new head chef who is super personable but also made my meal DELICIOUS. I had two tacos--the throw back and chicken with a side of haricot verts (something I didn't expect to see but I needed some greens and they are sooo good). I also ordered the street corn that was already great but got even better when I squeezed some lime over it.

Sean P.

Yelp
Not super expensive, good drinks, good food. Will be coming back when we vacation here annually

Yelp
We were craving some Mexican food so we decided to try this popular beach spot called Loca. It was located right near our Airbnb and it was only a five minute walk away, so it seemed extremely convenient. Upon entering, we were sat, however we did not see or waiter for almost 30 minutes. When we finally saw our waiter, we were able to order everything: drinks, the queso, a chicken, quesadilla, a steak burrito, and some chocolate fondue. The food did nothing to make up for the lack of service. It was holy. The queso did not taste like anything spectacular, in fact, I think it might be a below average queso. The steak burrito my request, so nothing to complain about there. The chicken quesadillas was a little plain. The chocolate fondue might have been there best offering!! It was a huge portion of chocolate with lots of dippers!! Although the food was average we gave a low rating because issues with the waiter persistent throughout the whole meal. My water was never refilled once and it was impossible to even find the guy to pay the bill. Thankfully, the owner did stop by to clear some plates when we finished our appetizers and meals, since our waiter did not. The ambiance was what you would expect of a Mexican / Latin American restaurant.

Sierra S.

Yelp
All food was fresh. Service just okay. Not sure I would eat dinner here again nothing was just fabulous, however would definitely go back for salsa flight, queso, and drinks.

Yelp
We were so happy to come across this restaurant on our first night in the area as the staff was friendly, the food was delicious and they had an extensive cocktail menu. We had apps and drinks while we waited for our to-go food and it was such a perk to be able to take our cocktails to go as the 30A beaches are open container friendly! The guac 30A style was so flavorful and the hot queso was the perfect amount of spice. Their tortilla chips were thin, crispy, and salty which was perfect. Everyone loved their entrees and we ate the leftover dips throughout our weekend.
google avatar

Tim G.

Yelp
We had a good experience here. The tacos were really tasty, and the service was friendly and prompt. Our experience in the area was that the restaurants tended to feel like tourist traps, but LaCo provided a legitimately good experience. The restaurant was clean and comfortable, and they have some good beers on tap as well. This was one of the better restaurants we dined at while visiting the 30A area.

Yelp
Food was great I got The mahi tostadas were fantastic the best fish tostadas I have ever had tomatoes cheese pineapple and coconut sauce it was excellent. Service was fast and direct. The ambiance was fresh and clean. I really enjoyed this place house margarita on rocks was very refreshing

Chris C.

Yelp
I am changing my review, only because it is not fair that I reviewed months after going to that place. It's a very distinct memory and can't remember, but I apologize for not giving a reason or reviewing sooner. I will give another star so it won't do anything basically. In addition, I did not know or had yelp at the time. Sincerely, Chris (Edit: was originally 2 stars)

Yelp
We were SO happy we discovered this place! AMAZING food and service! Every bite was fresh, well prepared, flavorful and delicious! We are vegetarian and there were plenty of choices! The cocktails were expertly prepared and delicious. Our server " Stone" was extremely attentive! We sat outside and enjoyed every minute! Thank you LaCo for your high standards, fresh ingredients and level of service!

Janet M.

Yelp
We love coming here, food is delicious! It needs to be hotter. Plates may be hot but, the food is not!
google avatar

Alicia G.

Yelp
This place is close to Alys Beach ! It's nice and clean. The food was good and the Agua Fresca was amazing!!!
google avatar

Robert P.

Yelp
Absolutely the best nachos in the 30a/South Walton area. The cheese sauce and added grilled shrimp really made it extra tasty. The lunchtime service at the bar was excellent.

Audrey B.

Yelp
Good service. Food was great!! We were in and out of there very quickly. The outside seating was cute and the area is lively!

Dutch S.

Yelp
I had ordered the 20 something dollar fajitas and it came with 5 small slices of steak. And it took a very long time to get a water unfortunately the server was very nice but wasn't the best at his job. The restaurant was very pretty with a great spot. The hostess were very nice and they were very helpful and kind. The server also took very long to get our check as well as never checking in on us.
google avatar

Johnathan G.

Yelp
The tacos were very tasty, but hard to pick up without spilling rather have more food than not enough, though... the waitress was amazing and very helpful. Our only problem was the enchiladas my wife got were basically a salad with unmelted cheese in tortillas below it.. not really what we expected with enchiladas.. so we ordered a cheese quesadilla and the waitress took the enchiladas off our bill.. all in all good experience! Just be sure to ask what the item comes with before ordering. Quiet and calm restaurant in the off season.
google avatar

Nicole A.

Yelp
I actually thought it was great. Everything from the shishito peppers to the throwback tacos to the calamari were super fresh and yummy!! Also highly recommend the frozen margarita with the sangria!
google avatar

Dan Z.

Yelp
A wonderful experience at LaCo. We got there during happy hour and were extremely pleased with the margaritas. We will be back to have more sometime this week!! Jacob was an awesome server that helped us with suggestions. The chips were fantastic. Fresh guac, spicy queso, and salsa that was light on cilantro. Just the way I like it. We had chicken fajitas for dinner, and they were enough to split between to the two of us. As soon as happy hour ended, it got REAL busy. We are happy we got their early. The rice and beans were probably my favorite part. The only think I would have liked more is more tortillas. The order only came with three.
google avatar

Tammy C.

Yelp
Very very very very slow service. So slow I was already over the idea of eating. Fish tacos were $11 each and they were nasty. We waited an hour for a table and another hour to get our food.
google avatar

Hambri Enta M.

Yelp
Another very good menu item. This may not be for you if you have a 10 yr old kid picky eater palate. The Chapulines tostadas are definitely for those with adventurous palates. I had to eat it slow, as the avocado tomatillo salsa is more a spread and it kicks back. I'd say ask for less of the amount the order comes with Their skinny Margarita is always a winner Arranchera taco so good. It has lots of jus so expect a messy moment. So worth it Happy hour from 3-5
google avatar

Mark W.

Yelp
I ate here on a Monday evening and had about a 5 min wait at 6:30 pm. If you want chips and salsa, you have to pay for it. Got queso and chips. Queso came out super hot and was good. About half of the chips were what looked like from the bottom of the bag. The food came out fairly quickly. The Mahi plate looked great, but the fish was barely warm. It was different and good but not worth the $35 charge.
google avatar

Sunny H.

Yelp
Pros-The location, the drinks and bartenders are good. Cheese dip and chips are great. This is a great happy hour location. Cons- Smells weird-like mildew, the food menu is limited. Our food was ok, but definitely more of a flare for Chile chipotle taste. Staff (with the exception of the bar staff) seemed unhappy. We probably won't be back for a meal. But probably for a margarita!
google avatar

Tim E.

Yelp
Let's first admit that the entire Rosemary area has gotten so crowded that most restaurants simply don't care what we think as customers because when we leave, there are 5 others behind us. If we were honest with ourselves, our collective tolerance for mediocre goes way up on vacations. Would you pay $7.50 for an ice coffee at home?! Now for LaCo. To say this place is average would be an overstatement. It all started when we called at 4:50 to place an to go order only to be told by the staff that we could not place our order until 5pm. Yes. They would not take it until exactly at 5. It continues. When they finally took the order we were told that they would add 20% for a gratuity. Wait. What? Seriously? I don't get to choose like I do sitting at a table? And by the way, when I get overcharged for the food, math says I pay even more for the tip. When asked why, they said it was to pay hourly employees. Great. So now it's our responsibility to pay employees for no service and overpriced food. Now for the food review. We ordered 2 quesos and chips and quesadillas. It was $60. You read that right. $60. The previous place was much more fun and family friendly. This place is attempting to be upscale Latin and fails miserably. I know those of you reading this won't care since you don't have a lot of choices but lower your expectations more then usual for this place.

Caleb K.

Yelp
We walked in and were seated immediately and greeted with great service. However, the chips and salsa, which were very good, were $8 which is uncustomary for a Mexican restaurant. LaCo was a nice and casual dining experience. I would visit again.
google avatar

Reuven C.

Yelp
This place needs to update the menu and the food quality The salsa, if you can call it salsa Very bed. Service is ok I don't think I'm gonna be back, sorry.
google avatar

Emily L.

Yelp
This is our FIRST STOP every time we come to Rosemary Beach / Seaside!!! Seriously, the food and drinks are amazing!!! MUST try's include the Pork Belly Tacos (NO comparison) and shrimp tacos (especially if you like a little heat). The bar staff is THE BEST!!! Ask for Maria... she's been here for years and knows her stuff!! She always takes exceptional care of us!
google avatar

LiLian B.

Yelp
Chips and salsa were amazing but they charge $3 for it although we did get free refills which was nice. My lobster avocado toast was overwhelming with egg, barely any lobster so I was really disappointed, my husband enjoyed his barbacia enchilada and my son enjoyed his steak breakfast burrito. Service was lacking. I think he was overwhelmed being the only one there. Took a while for our drinks, then had to ask for the chips, then a while for our check and a long time to check out.

Brandon P.

Yelp
Location and service were great. The food lacked depth of flavor, and the portions were disproportional. I ordered a quesadilla, which was so large I couldn't finish. My friend ordered a burrito, which was the smallest burrito I'd ever seen. The salsa and queso left much to be desired as well.

Matt A.

Yelp
Lobster quesadilla, coconut snapper. We're amazing! Great flavor! Fair pricing! Patricia made great recommendations!
google avatar

Michelle G.

Yelp
Had brunch here and it was amazing! Had the salsa flight and lobster avocado toast and it was the best tasting brunch food around. We will be back.

Jackson L.

Yelp
the food and service is amazing. i got a ceaser salad and it was amazing and for a good price. our waiter was very nice.
google avatar

Jean-Carlo L.

Yelp
We moved here from Miami and have been looking for a little taste of home. Not Mexican food, Latin food! LaCo didn't disappoint! Met Chef Eric. Great guy. First off we did brunch, FYI everything is big enough to share. Started with a blood orange margarita and a mezcal Bloody Mary to get the vibe going, WOW!! Did the sea test ceviche, it was phenomenal. Strangely sweet, not a Peruvian style but a crudo type ceviche. Delicious! My wife did the breakfast tacos with chorizo and they were huge, looked delicious and tasted awesome. I did the red chilaquiles with steak. Second best to the ones I had in Mexico City. This is a great casual place to do brunch before going to the beach or just going to the farmer market down the street. Must Try! Thanks Chef!!
google avatar

Jim S.

Yelp
Surprised at how much better this is now vs two years ago! We went once on a whim and ended up going again a few days later! Very fresh - you can really taste the quality of the ingredients they use and the made from scratch love they put in. Really liked the chicken (anything with it lol), the Brussels sprouts were different and delicious, and the salsas were all great! Oh and the servers were awesome too! A new 30A spot for us!

Brian S.

Yelp
Food and service are great! Seated quickly with a party of eight. Food and drinks came out promptly.
google avatar

Yelp
Perfect for Saturday Brunch family. The lobster avocado toast was a lot of Arugula as well as lobster and is more like a yummy breakfast salad. Son was in-love with his French toast. I would have preferred it come with a protein option.

Yelp
We were staying at the Villages so it made sense to do a dinner at LaCo since it was right downstairs. We very very pleased with our experience! Our visit was right at 5 (after the happy hour) on a Sunday and we had no trouble getting a seat for dinner. We were very pleased with the distance between tables, as well. If you are worried about COVID precautions, you should be good to go with an early dinner at LaCo. We ordered salsa and queso and both were great. The portions were also large and the queso could have easily been shared with 4+ people or 2 people that LOVE queso. My husband got a steak burrito and I ordered the taco salad with chicken. Both of our meals were large and tasted fresh. Our server was kind and the food came out very quickly. If you're craving Mexican or Latin American food and in the area, you should definitely check out LaCo.

Christy M.

Yelp
During our recent visit to Laco earlier this month, I was very impressed with our server, Kyle. He was not only attentive and friendly, but very knowledgeable about the menu. We left satisfied with our meal and service.
