Why would I come back: A standout in Seattle’s University District, Ladd & Lass Brewing is a fun example of a community brewery doing things right. Opened in late 2021, it’s the passion project of the husband-and-wife team Nick Ladd and Jessie Quan. The name "Ladd & Lass" is a clever nod to their partnership. Nick is a very experienced, having worked his craft at some of Seattle's favorite breweries, and that talent is evident in every pint.
The tap list is diverse and has everything from impeccably crisp lagers (Addena Pils is supper tasty) to flavorful, modern Hazy IPAs (Hop Shuffle features new hop profiles in every batch) and even a hot dog flavored quaff. The taproom itself is bright and welcoming, with a genuine neighborhood feel that makes it an ideal spot to relax. For anyone who appreciates expertly crafted beer in a friendly, unpretentious setting, Ladd & Lass is a must-stop.
