Where to Eat at the U District Cherry Blossom Festival | Eater Seattle

"I saw that Ladd & Lass brewery is pouring a cherry sour, which sounds tart and seasonal for spring sippers." - Harry Cheadle

Love this spot! Super chill neighborhood brewery with a great variety of beers. 🍻 Trivia night on Thursdays is always a blast, and happy hour (3–5pm) is a solid deal. They sell their beer in cans too, which is perfect for taking home. Sometimes you’ll catch a food truck out front, but they’re cool with you bringing your own food as well. It’s a cozy, couple-owned place with an awesome community vibe. Definitely one of my go-to breweries!

Brewery: Ladd & Lass City: U District, Seattle WA Brewed on premise: Yes Number of house beer taps: 10 Guest Beer: No, but some ciders Bar seating: 5 Table seating: Yes Patio: No Beer garden: No Food: No Food Trucks: No Dogs Allowed: Yes Televisions: 2 Beer to go: Yes Liquor: No Wine: Yes Tony: Yes Why would I come back: A standout in Seattle’s University District, Ladd & Lass Brewing is a fun example of a community brewery doing things right. Opened in late 2021, it’s the passion project of the husband-and-wife team Nick Ladd and Jessie Quan. The name "Ladd & Lass" is a clever nod to their partnership. Nick is a very experienced, having worked his craft at some of Seattle's favorite breweries, and that talent is evident in every pint. The tap list is diverse and has everything from impeccably crisp lagers (Addena Pils is supper tasty) to flavorful, modern Hazy IPAs (Hop Shuffle features new hop profiles in every batch) and even a hot dog flavored quaff. The taproom itself is bright and welcoming, with a genuine neighborhood feel that makes it an ideal spot to relax. For anyone who appreciates expertly crafted beer in a friendly, unpretentious setting, Ladd & Lass is a must-stop. @brewersassoc @homebrewassoc @touchdownbrewery #ParkerPose #BeerLife #BeerLove .

Really great brews. They are just getting started but it's already become a go-to for us. You gotta try the "light & sweet" coffee ale, so delicious. The location is very convenient. Typically there's some street parking just east or north of the brewery. Staff and owners are all good people. So head on over there and meet the Ladd, the Ladd, and their fine beers.

Came here on a Friday afternoon and was greeted by one of the owners. I asked her for a flight and she surprised me with some really great beers. I tried the white rabbit and it was AMAZING. SO GOOD. We played Uno for most of the afternoon while other people came in. Lots of dog owners which was really nice. The crowd here is super friendly and to be honest I didn’t want to leave. They didn’t have any food here, but it looks like they have rotating trucks come by every Thursday. Definitely a great and fun experience!

My first time here. I met some friends to enjoy some brews and the Lá Liath Bakery pop-up. I started off with the Blossom Hunter Fruited Sour paired with the Glamorgan Roll vegetarian pastry. Great combo. The sour was light and well balanced between the tart cherry and the hint of vanilla at the end, with the smoothness of the lactose. Our daughter who "doesn't like beer" had a sip and then ordered her own glass and loved it as did her friend. I followed it up with a Shorts Weather Schwarzbier (Schwarz weather anyone? Anyone?) Seeing as how it was in the 80s and I was in full dad-cargo shorts uniform, it seemed appropriate. An absolutely perfect Schwarzbier. There's not enough of these on tap around imho so it was great to not only find one but find one that was great. Next trip in I'll have to try some new beers but I think some cans of the Schwarzbier will need to come home with me. Oh, also a note about the music. Banger playlist. After two songs from the Beths in a row I told "Lass" that if she just played the Beths for the next two hours I'd leave a 5 star review. I was just kidding, the beer and space had already earned the 5 stars, but the playlist was chock full of Beths songs and a lot of other great tunes.

Google
Amazing brewery with amazing staff! Would recommend, they always have unique brews that keep me coming for more. So happy to have them in the neighborhood!

Google
Came here for their trivia night on Thursdays and really loved the atmosphere here. The staff was super friendly and helpful when we asked questions about the beers. They had good options as well for my friends that don't love beer and prefer cider or sours. The location is a bit of a walk from other restaurants so they'll sometimes have food trucks outside with great options to pair with your beer. Also they're dog friendly! Limited street parking only in this area or there's a paid lot next door. Read the street parking more carefully than me; I ended up with a parking ticket :(

Yelp
Great spot! Really good beer, friendly staff, and shuffle board! Had the mariners game playing on a large screen. Dog friendly. Something for everyone. Would recommend people check this spot out!

Yelp
This is in the old Floating Bridge Brewing location. It's a nice space because it's far enough off the ave/away from campus that it has more of a family/neighborhood feel to it. Space isn't huge but unless there's an event it's usually not too crowded. They have a projector screen to show games etc in the upper seating area. Outside food is allowed.

Yelp
I have had L&L 'bookmarked' for quite a while. The reason it's taken so long to get there is the location and lack of parking. We decided to get a LYFT ride so we didn't have to worry about the parking situation. We noticed a parking lot across the street. Not sure how much they charge but at least parking doesn't have to be an excuse not to go! Since it was our first time, we got a sample tray. We were very impressed! All the beer we sampled was very good! We then jumped into pints. My pint of choice was Shifting Latitudes. It was a delightful, low ABV hazy pale ale with a great taste! The Midnight Carnival was my second fave. It was a roasty but light tasting Czech Dark Lager. We spent at least 4 hours here the first time. Drinking lots of great beers and playing cards. We enjoyed it so much we Lyfted back a few weeks ago. I had the last pint of Shifting Latitudes before the keg blew. My second pint was Pink Pony Girl. I'm not typically into blondes, but this one was so good!!! I had 3 pints of it! Ladd & Lass has become one of our favorite local breweries! Great beer and a fun place to hang out!

Yelp
Had a pleasant experience at Ladd & Lass. The brewery is spacious with light amounts of decor, games to play and encouragement to bring your own take-out food. I stopped in as I'm always eager to try a new brewery. I briefly spoke to one of the owners who stated they'd been there for two years. I came on a Saturday evening to a decent number of patrons from groups of friends to a family with children who were playing board games (which are available to play). I am always looking to enjoying a nice juicy IPA, and I noticed here at Ladd & Lass they had four. I could've sampled them but decided to go straight for a flight. My impressions of them were average. The best of the bunch was the "Rainbow FTW" IPA which has slight notes of pineapple, guava and more as well as portions of money from pours of this go to a cause. The others just didn't hit in the flavor or aromatic department. Perhaps they'll rotate out for some newer additions will come that will be more hit and finish. Beyond that, the atmosphere and service are great here.

Yelp
Such a hidden gem I wish I could gatekeep this place! The most wide selection/best brewed beers of any brewery I've been to in Seattle and SO affordable. Came here for trivia and absolutely loved trying all the fun flavors through flights (4 for $16).

Yelp
Good brewery but vibe is more like a chill coffee shop working vibe. They have a nice selection, let you sample, and the price is really decent. They have lots of games too and the staff is friendly.

Yelp
I have always been curious about this brewery since I always pass by it in the U-District, and I am so glad I finally did. My only regret is that I wish I had gone here sooner! This brewery is family and pet friendly, and the customer service is superb. Although it is a small hole-in-the-wall brewery, it has an intimate setting. Be sure to get here early because tables will fill up rather quickly. If you are not a beer drinker like myself, I recommend the boysenberry lemonade cider. It was refreshing and delicious. This is the perfect drink for the summer season, and it's right around the corner! I will definitely be back.

Yelp
I had a great time here I popped in while in the area and really loved the space. Turned out the owner was running g bar back and was super chill. I did not try the food truck but I love having that option. Beers were light and tasty for a hot day.

Yelp
Absolute gem! I stopped by here before a husky game and this is a wonderful brewery. I'm jealous of these Seattle neighborhood breweries living on the eastside. The tap list is varied and excellent. There is something for everyone here, and half pours are available to let you try a number of beers at a reasonable pace. There are snacks and games available, and a couple of tvs with sports on. Besides the beer being fresh and having excellent complexity, the ladd and lass running the brewery are wonderful hosts and conversationalists. So far it is just a husband and wife duo here, and I had a great conversation with Jessie while I tasted a few of their brews. I need to find more excuses to get back here.

Yelp
Nice spot by University District. Bright, welcoming and clean. Friendly, welcoming bartender. Beer cold and tasty.

Yelp
So glad I made it to Ladd & Lass Brewing! There was a brewery here previously but I feel like it's improved considerably since Ladd & Lass opened. For one the tasting room seems brighter and I feel like the quality of the beer is better as well! For this brewery I had three of their beers all in which I really enjoyed! I had a pale ale here to start with which was great. It was a great representative for this style of beer! After that I had a hoppy pilsner which I also thoroughly enjoyed! Sometimes hoppy pilsners can be too hoppy and kills the biscuity flavor but that wasn't an issue here. Good job balancing the flavor! Finally I took home a crowler of the Sweet and Light which was a coffee lager which was subtle and sweet. The sweetness was well handled and wasn't too overboard. Steve enjoyed it too! Very good beer and another reson to go to the University District!

Yelp
Ladd & Lass turned out to be the much needed, air-conditioned oasis we needed on a hot, 93 degree day! I generally go for sours and their It's Always Sunny was A+++. It was super refreshing and crisp, and so good that I didn't think twice about ordering my second pint. They have a ton of games, a shuffleboard table, and are dog-friendly. What else can you ask for?

Yelp
We enjoyed our experience trying out this brewery. They offer flights which was nice for sampling beers and ciders on their menu. The bartender was super friendly and knew everything about their menu. I would definitely come back here if I was in the area again. They do not serve food, however if you wanted to order delivery they allow you to bring food in. My favorite beer there was the Jasmine Rice Lager.

Robert E.

Yelp
Great beer and even better service Jessie is the best in my humble opinion the best brewery in Seattle!!!!

Sarah T.

Yelp
I come to this place every Thursday for trivia and the owners are the best. I would highly recommend the bar and the unique beers. They have an interesting variety of beers with lactose that are extremely delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
A modern and relaxed take on a completely local brewery. They offer six one of a kind beverages in different varieties to suit an individual's preference. If you're looking for a quiet place to converse or just to hang out I would recommend lad & pass brewing! They also have some board and card games if your friends want to kick it in the evening. There is also public transit just around the corner as well as a public parking lot within a one minute walk.

rebekah c.

Yelp
The beer is good, the owners are lovely, and the environment is comfortable and community oriented (there are even board games on hand). A great local spot.

Yelp
Wow, these guys are displaying legit skills. Their palette of styles is very wide, from a UK-inspired dark mild (updated with, ahem, carbonation) to a stellar example of a west coast IPA. I tried 7 of their beers and I would call all of them 5 star examples. So many of our major breweries offer 8 IPAs and a porter. It's rare to find a brewery, especially right out of the gate, paying homage to this diversity of styles with thoughtful and clever current and regional twists. I have a friend who doesn't drink IPAs. Whenever we go out, it's like bringing the vegan to the steakhouse. The available choices are an afterthought. Here, he can have an excellent Vienna lager. Beer enthusiasts, come here. They deserve to succeed.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow - gorgeous new place. Beer is yummy - worth trying a couple different kinds, and it's not just "varieties of IPA" - and there's even wine on tap. The vibe is very modern and airy, plenty of sunlight, lively but not too loud to have an actual conversation. The owners are a husband and wife team , Seattle natives, and are super nice. I will definitely be back!

Robert T.

Yelp
One of the best breweries in greater Seattle. Period! I am a certified beer judge and trust me, pretty much all of what Ladd & Lass makes is gold. The owners who are often there are also incredibly nice good people. Support them. This place rocks!

Yelp
Parking can be a little difficult but Ladd & Lass is a cozy spot with games and great beers.

Yelp
Excellent selection from IPA's to Stouts. Started seeing this brewery in local bottle shops. Love their high octane IPA's. I will definitely go back to the brewery and look for their product in local bottle shops.

Yelp
We are oh so glad Ladd and lass has opened up! Amazing beer, great space, family friendly, awesome people and owners, and good vibes. New beers are usually released every 2 weeks so we've had fun making it part of our weekly routine to stop in. Always a great time, also an easy way to support a local business!

Merced S.

Yelp
Ladd & Lass has officially made my favorite beer of all time - their coffee ale is phenomenal! Silky smooth, so aromatic, and incredibly delicious. This fantastic new brewery is worth the trip for the coffee ale alone, but every other beer is fantastic as well! My friend and I are visiting Seattle and were looking for local breweries, and this one checks all our favorite boxes - friendly owners, board games available, and DELICIOUS beer! We got two flights of 4 and tried everything. Our favorites were their hazy IPA, kolsch, and coffee ale. Ladd & Lass is a new go-to spot for every time we are in Seattle!!

Andrew S.

Yelp
Cool new craft brewery in the U-District, inviting atmosphere and tasty beers. Enjoy taste testing so had a flight, all were pretty good, and went back for the pale ale. Will be coming back again.

Yelp
Always have a good time here, staff is friendly and they have good beer. On weekends they often have food trucks and they're always participating in different events that keep things exciting.

Kris P.

Yelp
Seriously good beer. The people who own it are really kind, and it's a nice, bright space. I will definitely be back.
