Lady's Seafood & Soulfood Review - East Harlem - New York - The Infatuation

"If you’re lucky, you have someone in your family that makes food that inspires you to get to the family function early, before the mac and cheese runs out because everyone’s already stashed a second take home plate. The lady behind Lady’s Seafood and Soulfood in East Harlem is that relative. Get here as early as you can, because the best stuff runs out fast. The fried shrimp covered in a BBQ sauce with just enough bite is a must-have, and we’ve power-walked our way over just to guarantee we get a slab of buttery stuffed salmon overflowing with crab meat. The only word that accurately describes the salty-sour pork fat greens is “correct.” And, of course, a side of mac and cheese is essential. It’s the sort of recipe you keep secret until it goes in the will. For now, this spot is takeout only, in the spirit of those secret second plates. If you’ve already been making trips to this superior soul food spot, we apologize in advance—we’re inviting a few more people to crash the family party. Food Rundown Fried Chicken This spot is big on seafood, but we just can’t respect a place with soul food in the name if the fried chicken doesn’t blow us away. This one’s a winner. Stuffed Lobster or Salmon Both the salmon and lobster are carefully cooked to medium done and generously stuffed with flavorful crab meat and parmesan breadcrumbs. BBQ Shrimp (or Sweet Chili Shrimp) The fried shrimps are big and as well-seasoned as the chicken, and they get even more flavor from your choice of tangy hot BBQ sauce or a sticky sweet chili glaze. Shrimp Alfredo We usually skip non-macaroni pasta dishes when they appear at soul food restaurants. There’s just too much else we’d rather eat. But this peppery alfredo really hits the spot. Sides: Mac and Cheese, Rice, Greens, Candied Yams On point: the sharp cheese in the mac, caramelization on the yams, seasoning on the rice, and pork flavor in the greens." - Neha Talreja

If I could give 0 stars I definitely would. They must be giving people something for these reviews. This is by far the worst soul food restaurant I’ve been to. I ordered turkey wings and I got the end piece along with the bone from the leg. There were other pieces of the leg but no actual wing. I will say the flavor wasn’t bad. The greens weren’t that good. Now the Mac and cheese was horrible. There was no cheese other than on top. I will NEVER EVER eat here again. I have no idea how they got good reviews. Trust me people if you want good soul food this isn’t the place

I give this place a 10 out of 10 because everything was perfect. Food was hot, seasoned and cooked to perfection. If you are in Tampa, make this a spot to eat because you will not be disappointed. Great Tampa hospitality and food.

The turkey wings and rice 10 out of 10 recommend!—full of flavor and cooked just right! The greens were pretty decent, but they are made a little sweeter than I like. The fried crabs were good too!, but the batter was a bit thick, so it had more of a bready taste than that crispy fried vibe. Still, overall, I will be back!

Ladies of the Sea Seafood and Soulfood Restaurant truly is a hidden gem. This family-owned business has been serving the community for over 40 years, and that alone speaks volumes about how special this place is. The food is packed with flavor and soul, with generous portions that allow you to enjoy a hearty meal and still have plenty to take home. What I love most is the cozy atmosphere. The location may be small, but it feels like stepping into Mama’s kitchen or Auntie’s house when you’re craving a delicious Sunday dinner without having to cook. This place is the perfect combination of comfort, flavor, and history—a true treasure!

Hey, my name is Jada and I came to this business to support black businesses one day I made a call to the store to place an order. They told me you have to come in the store, which I thought was weird so I came in the store 20 minutes before closing. The owner told me no let’s take the order. The other girl was like we’re closing. We’re not taking your order right off the bat wishy-washy. I told them that I had bought a cake from them. I didn’t smell right to me. It smelled spoiled she smelled the cake told me it didn’t smell spoiled and it’s the kind of icing on a cake. I said OK I would like an exchange still she was very persistent that the cake wasn’t spoiled and all I said was OK. I would like an exchange so she had customers tell them what the cake smells like to me that felt really humiliating and very embarrassing, so this woman started yelling at me cursing at me eventually, I matched her energy and she was ready to step outside and fight me plus for two chicken wings that are cut into four is not worth my $17. You don’t even get a beverage not worth my $17.

A Williamson Review: Ladies of the Sea & Soulfood – Tampa’s Hidden Gem of Flavor and Heart If you're searching for seafood that sings with soul and tastes like it came straight from Grandma’s kitchen, look no further than Ladies of the Sea & Soulfood in Tampa. From the moment you walk in, the aroma wraps around you like a warm hug—rich spices, sizzling fish, and that unmistakable scent of food made with love. The fish? Unreal. Whether it’s whiting, basa, or snow crab, every bite is tender, perfectly seasoned, and undeniably fresh. My wife nailed it when she said, “Everything I’ve tasted from there has that homemade taste. It never feels frozen or premade—everything is made from scratch.” And she’s right. You can taste the care in every dish. The mac and cheese is creamy and comforting, the collard greens are soulful and savory, and the hush puppies are crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Even the banana pudding and blue velvet cake feel like a celebration of Southern tradition. What sets Ladies of the Sea apart isn’t just the food—it’s the vibe. The staff are warm, the portions are generous, and the atmosphere feels like a family reunion you didn’t know you needed. It’s the kind of place you tell your friends about, then bring them back with you the next weekend. If you're in Tampa and craving seafood that’s seasoned with soul and served with heart, Ladies of the Sea is the spot. Five stars, no hesitation. Worth the wait. Value is tasted with time here.

I ordered fried conch and Mac& cheese. They both were delicious! However, for the price, I would have liked more conch.
