Lady Yum Review - Denny Triangle - Seattle - The Infatuation

"It takes a certain kind of person to fully enjoy Lady Yum—partly because of the name. But once you get past the fact that there’s a little too much pastel pink going on, you’ll realize that this cafe has the best champagne deal in the city. Sit in one of the strangely Game Of Thrones-like chairs with a flute of $4 brut and a pile of homemade macarons. You’re fully entitled to start forcing people to refer to you as First Of Your Name, Protector Of Sparkling Wine, Breaker Of Pastries." - Aimee Rizzo

Walking by the sign of “champagne plus macaroon $5” we decided to get in and it was the best decision ever! My favorite was the unicorn macaroon SO DELICIOUS! They also sell other amazing souvenirs, gifts and tea. The decoration is lovely, I loved the washroom! And also the staff is so nice. Amazing experience in Seattle.

Google
I love this place so much. They have a wonderful macron and champagne combo, a large selection of flavors some unique, and everything is affordable. We got guava cucumber, honey espresso, and chocolate ganache all absolutely wonderful.

If you look up cute business in a dictionary this place Pops up. Nestled within south lake Union, this dessert/champagne spot is excellent for a quick work treat, or a recreational retreat from the stressors of city life. The staff is kind and the ambiance is incredible. Frederick in particular is a vibe!

This is a wonderful tiny bar based in Downtown Seattle offering a great deal on Champagne and Macrons! Must try place if in Seattle.

Google
The Macarons are fantastic! Original flavours and they taste so delicious. Had a glass of bubbly with our macarons and it rocked. I wish we lived here!

Yelp
Lady Yum is honestly the cutest place to pop in for a sweet treat and a drink. Their $5 macaroon and glass of champagne deal cannot be beaten!! Refills are only $3 too ;) There are so so many different flavors to choose from, and everything I've tried has been amazing. I love stopping in with visitors to the city for a quick sip before dinner reservations. The staff is incredibly sweet and gave us a few broken/cracked macaroons for free while we were seated inside. There's also an amazing backdrop for a solo IG pic or TT video. Very cutesy!

Yelp
$5 for a macaron and a glass of bubbly?! Yes please! We walked in after the SLU Winter market last week for a quick treat. The macarons were beautifully decorated and delicious. They also have other yummy treats available, as well as fun gifting items like daily affirmation cards, celebratory cards, wine glass markers, etc. Thanks to the friendly staff member who was super kind and answered all our questions!

Yelp
This is a macaron place with a variety of flavors to choose from. They're all very pretty to look at. Taste-wise, the macaron shells were soft and chewy with a crispness to it. The fillings can be hit or miss depending on the flavor. Most taste exactly like how they sound. * Toasted Coconut 5/5 - Popular flavor. This smelled like toasted coconut and tasted amazing. * S'mores 4.5/5 - Tasted like a s'more with all its chocolate and marshmallow goodness. * Lemon 4.5/5 - Tasted like a lemon cake. I'm not a lemon dessert fan, but I enjoyed this. * Mint Chocolate 4.5/5 - Good mint chocolate flavor. * Black Magic 4/5 - Interesting savory and sweet coconut cornflake filling. * Raspberry 4/5 - A bit too sweet. * Strawberry 4/5 - Good strawberry flavor, a bit sour. * Witch's Brew 3.5/5 - Almond something filling, too sweet and didn't taste good. * Salted Caramel 3.5/5 - Really thick caramel, not my favorite. * Pear Frangipane 3.5/5 - Pear Almond Custard filling, quite sour.

Yelp
Beautiful New Years treat. I had the honey lavender with my pink bubbles. It was delicious at a great price as we wandered to the Space Needle.

Yelp
Always love visiting lady yum during my visits to Seattle. They have such innovative flavors. I made sure to get the 10-pack so I could try the Halloween flavors. The macarons are made well, and at $3, it is a good price for how large these macarons are. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We stopped by Lady Yum after dinner and enjoyed the $5 deal for a glass of bubbles and a macaron. Our drink was Wycliff Brut and I got the oatmeal cookie macaron, delicious! Great treat to get after dinner.

Yelp
Sometimes after lunch, you just have to get five macrons - which you think you're going to share with your friends and then you end up eating all yourself in the afternoon. If this, like me, sounds like YOU then either run to Lady Yum or avoid.

Yelp
Great location right by the Amazon Spheres and really great service. I came here with my daughter on our last night in Seattle and we were blown away by the selection of macaron flavors in the display. I love that their little quote says "Macarons & Mischief" since they also offer afor the adults. What really impressed me with their macarons is that they're not overly sweet and actually meet the flavor profiles they're described as. Even my daughter enjoyed tasting the different flavors since she doesn't have as much of a sweet tooth.

Yelp
This place was so lovely. From the decor to the beautiful delicious macarons to choose from, I was in heaven. We did the $5 bubble special which was such a great deal! We tried a few different flavors and all were yummy. Fredrick treated us mama's like queens and we loved every minute of it. He was knowledgeable on all they had to offer and was very attentive and kind. I live in Bothell and not always in the area of the Denny Triangle but I'll be sure to pop in when I am close by again. Loved it!

Yelp
For Sis and I, this is our favorite macaron place. We discovered it on a walking food tour of Seattle and we recently went back with friends. They had a cool $5 deal for a macaron and glass of champagne. It was a nice dessert deal to follow up a nice lunch. The servers were not so friendly this time. They weren't mean or anything, but a little disinterested. We got our treat and our bubbly, crowded around one of the tables and I like to think that others saw us and thought it looked fun, because the small shop soon was crowded with other customers taking advantage of the $5 deal, so the champagne was flowing. I like also that they used real stemware and they served the macaron on a small stone cutting board, so that upped the experience. When the shop started getting crowded, it made the place fun, but maybe I'm thinking that because we got a table since we were first, lol. Anyway, we'll be back because for $5, it's a simple, genteel way to kill some time on a rainy afternoon.

Yelp
This location of Lady Yum is in downtown Seattle, right next to the Amazon spheres. It is a little small with only about a few tables, but it is very cute, clean, and inviting. Once I walked in, I was welcomed and asked if it was my first time here and proceeded to explaining the different flavors. There are seasonal, monthly, and regular flavors. The macaroons were beautifully displayed. I built my own macaron box and had a hard time choosing which macarons I wanted. There were so many flavors that sounded so good. After selecting the macarons, I was asked which sticker I wanted on the box. They had many to choose from and since I wasn't purchasing the macarons for a specific occasion, they put a classic sticker. There was also a little booklet in the box about Lady Yum and the variety of flavors. The macarons were delicious. The macarons were very soft and with just the right amount of filling. Some we ate the same day and some we ate after 2 days. They still tasted very fresh. The booklet mentions it is best to consume immediately, if not possible, then kept in a sealed container for 5 days.

Yelp
My best friend lives down the street from Lady Yum and I don't know how she isn't here every single night. Not only is it the cutest place to walk into, but the owner is the nicest human on the entire planet. With smiles, jokes, and a very solid pour, Lady Yum welcomes you in for a dessert and a drink for just $5. Almost all of the macarons are gluten free, yay me, and they change up often. Sitting outside on a hot Seattle day watching people stroll by while you drink bubbly is an evening close that you must experience.

Yelp
Lady Yum has plenty of yum going on here! I was in for a yummy treat when my bestie and Seattleite, Jennifer L., took me here. This cute and chic shop specializes in serving quality macarons of various flavors which can please all preferences! Specializing in macarons, Lady Yum offers original, monthly, and seasonal macaron flavors. All of these colorful and dainty bites can be seen in their gigantic macaron display. Inside the shop is quiet and smaller with a few high tables to sit at. The decor inside is classy yet casual--I felt elegant nibbling on my macaron. The one worker who helped us was patient, sweet, and attentive. She brought out our macarons and drinks for us to savor. The hardest part was deciding what macaron I wanted. There are plenty of sweet, fruity, and creative choices but after asking what the most popular were I decided on the Toasted Coconut. I will say the color of it being my favorite swayed me too. The macaron was divine! The exterior shell was slightly crunchy yet chewy. Hints of coconut were presented and the toasted bits provided a perfect texture without being overbearing. The inside filling was a harmonious balance of smooth and velvety buttercream without being too sweet. I found the quality of the macaron to be superb and had me yearning for more. Lady Yum is open early and late making it the perfect spot to say yum any time of the day. You can pop in for a sweet treat in-store or to-go, as well as get their macarons catered or online. Located off 6th Ave on the first floor, it's hard to miss with nearby street and garage parking. If I lived in Seattle, I'd definitely come back and take advantage of their specials and deals. With yummy macarons, fun flavors, and helpful service I can see why this is highly spoken about. Thank you Bestie J for treating me!

Yelp
Wandered on by with no prior knowledge of this place. The $5 glass of bubbly and macaroon drew us in. A short but highly enjoyable time warp later we left after multiple glasses and many different macarons enjoyed. Will forever recommend this place to anyone to coming to Seattle. A nice place for a morning, noon and night cap.

Yelp
Lady Yum lives up to the promise - just a little something. So far it's been fantastic as an afternoon out with a friend treat. A little something after dinner - when I do not see anything on the dessert menu. & Hey! I need to end my *headdesk* day now (OMG it's that late!?) The flavors keep changing & and there's always sparkle. Most important the macarons are always so light & the fillings are delicious. Keep up the loveliness!

Yelp
You can't beat $5 for bubbly and a macaroon. This is a beautifully decorated space and very conducive for stopping in and having a chat with a friend or even a quick date. It is around the corner from the Amazon spheres so located in a great and central location. The staff were also super friendly. The macarons were very tasty and the bubbly was better than I thought it would be considering it is $5.
google avatar

Yelp
The macarons here are so tasty! I love stopping by here and grabbing a large pack of them. The servers are really helpful and they have a cool punch card program for packs. The shops is small but really cute and fun.

Yelp
Best macarons in the area. Wonderful flavors. Staff is always great, and who is going to say no to $5 sparkling wine with a cookie on the side! Wish I cold walk here!

Yelp
Absolutely love and adored this place! What can I say, as I entered the shop, the aesthetics was beautiful. The service was quick and easy too. The employees helped me with creating an amazing box of my own and included a cute little bow for me too. They were the most helpful to me. Let me talk about the macaroons... DELICIOUS! That is all I have to say about it. Not only do they look cute, but there is a large variety of colors, design, and flavors. I had to come back the next day to taste the remaining flavors that I didn't get to try. Also, they have a small variety that is only there for the month. They change it up monthly, so customers can try different flavors!! Next time I am in Seattle, this would be my first stop!!

Yelp
Lady Yum truly lives up to its name. I dropped by to ease my craving for macarons and boy was I delighted. The staff were helpful and attentive to my questions regarding suggestions, the shop, although small, was quite cute and unicorn-like, and the macarons. The macarons were absolutely delicious, they have a light crunchy exterior with a delicious soft but chewy (in a good way) texture and light and cool buttercream inside. Overall I would highly recommend this delicious treat to fellow macaron lovers. Sidenote: they charge $2.50 a piece and I highly recommend their toffee or strawberry shortcake flavors to people who may not know what to try!

Yelp
I had a great experience here at this location. I really enjoyed the decor and ambiance. Staff was friendly and helpful here. I ordered Champagne & Macaroon before our walk to the Space Needle. I will definitely be back here again.

Yelp
The macaroons were super delicious! We got a set of 10 and everything was so tasty. My favorite is the mermaid and espresso. Definitely recommend checking out! The service and setting is great as well.

Yelp
I would give 100 stars if I could. Service - AMAZING, macarons - DELISH! Parking/location: It's literally right next to Day 1 Garage which has free parking evenings after 4pm, so super convenient. Location - next to Amazon Spheres and lots of shops downtown. Ambiance: It is SUPER cute - it's pink, it's got a chandelier, fun ornate velvet chairs, what's not to like? It's not for large crowds, unless you do take-out, but nice to go downtown with a friend for a quick stop for a macaron and champagne. Service: This is where they SHINE! The person helping me, I can't believe I forgot his name - I'm so embarrassed, he was the nicest person ever. Lady Yum was part of a scavenger hunt I was trying to put together for my birthday, and he listened to my craziness and was completely on board to help me out. He was a huge part of making my birthday a success and I'm so grateful for him!!! Food: I tried a few of the flavors - they have different seasonal ones, but "original" ones too. He recommended the raspberry and the lemon. Spot on. These were my favorite too. My friend loved the s'mores. Chocolate mint and salted caramel were both good, but not as good as the fruity ones. Recommendation: Totally drop by, especially this location, it's the best and service is amazing and would be the perfect cherry on top of a fun evening downtown!

Yelp
Fredrick slays!!!! (hope i spelled that correct). gave suggestions and got through a huge line so quickly. the decor in there is so cute and so are the vibes! we've been here twice in the last few weeks and will be back soon. seasonal flavors are off the hook but so are the ones that you can always grab! a must visit.

Yelp
This place was so cute, I loved the decor they had inside that added a sweet touch. The trendy and fun patterns added to the space for sure! We were greeted by the service lady was was super friendly and help answer our questions on the different flavors. We got the apricot honey cardamom and toasted coconut flavors and both were insanely good. They also have happy hour with champagne during the day as well. Enjoy the seating spot for a quick photo spot. Ayeeee!!! Super cute! This is definitely a cute little spot to enjoy dessert.

Yelp
Stumbled across this place as my wife and I walked back from the pride parade. It was located on a corner. There were two families ahead of us but the tenant was quick. One can choose many different types of macaroons that were displayed beautifully. I loved my salt caramel, chocolate, and shindig ("Fruity Pebbles with vanilla buttercream tastes just like a bowl of cereal, on the sweeter side"). They have fun options and fair prices! And I just tried the S'more and that is my ask time favorite with a marshmallow and chocolate!

Yelp
We were walking around DT Seattle and came across this place. We figured what the hell , let's try it! It was not a mistake. Small little place , seating for many 10-12 people. We did the bubbly and macaroon for $5 . Macaroons were fruity pebbles and smores. Really cool ! Check it out if your walking by

Breanna D.

Yelp
wish i could give this location more than 5 stars simply because of the shining star, heaven sent angel, FREDERICK. the infectious positivity, open environment, and desire treat every fresh face as a long lost friend is a dwindling skill in the customer service industry. best dessert in the city, but 10/10 coming back each time just because of the ambiance created by that lovely human being!!
google avatar

Emily J.

Yelp
Not your average macaron. The flavors are fun and they also have seasonal flavors. There are packs you can purchase or singles from the counter. I personally went here for the macaron cake tower which was a pretty penny but the macarons were delicious and it was an eye catcher on our dessert table.
google avatar

Crystal H.

Yelp
I absolutely loved the macrons! So many delicious flavors and they were so spot on. I loved majority of the flavors we got than not. The texture was perfect amount of chew and filling was so creamy. My favorite is the pistachio, it really captured the nutty flavor. They're so cute and wonderfully made. The whole place was beyond aesthetically pleasing. Though the service was a huge miss. The lady just wasn't kind or nice. Just overall not friendly. I said I had a question about their bottomless champagne and was hoping she can explain more about it, but was bluntly asked, "so what's your question?" There was no advertisement really about it in the store so I was taken aback that she couldn't just explain more about it? Felt like I was asking too much of her in boxing our macrons too. I'm sad since other reviews said the service was amazing.
google avatar

Erica C.

Yelp
Lady Yum's macarons are a delightful treat. Each macaron is perfectly crafted, with a delicate, crispy shell that gives way to a soft, chewy center. The flavors are diverse and vibrant like lavender honey and passion fruit guava orange. For the crazy flavors we got Hennessy and Wine flavored.
google avatar

Aaron C.

Yelp
It's a great dessert place! Lots of macaroons and the ambiance is unique and cozy. The staff is friendly and I can't recommend it enough! There's all kinds of macaroons and it's located in a great spot! Definitely check it out!

Yelp
Bottomless champagne on Tuesdays for $20? YES. We happened to be in the neighborhood and had some time to kill. My friend/coworker recommended Lady Yum as she's had it before. So glad we stopped in because the macarons are amazing and the service was STELLAR. We ordered the pack of 25 so we could try basically all their flavors haha. The ones I will definitely be ordering again: *Gooey Butter Cake (seasonal - a rich, tender cake crust topped with a sweet cream cheese layer that's baked until golden.) *Strawberry Fields (seasonal - Strawberry Fields macaron has a blend of two flavors that are unexpectedly great friends. Fresh strawberry gelee is a surprise in the center of this macaron surrounded by matcha buttercream. This macaron offers the balance of sweetness to the earthy matcha buttercream just what the wellness doctor ordered.) - the combo with strawberry & matcha is just DELIGHTFUL and that textural contrast was also a pleasant surprise! *Shin Dig (Fruity Pebbles with vanilla buttercream tastes just like a bowl of cereal, on the sweeter side.) - I mean...fruity pebbles?! Can't go wrong. *Circus Animal (A delicious twist on a childhood favorite!) Anyways you really can't go wrong -- worth a stop in, even if it's not bottomless champagne Tuesday!

Yelp
Such an amazing place! My sister and I were just walking by and decided to stop in and were not disappointed. The service was AMAZING and the macarons were so good. 100% recommend. Definitely stop by.

Yelp
Cute little spot we spontaneously stopped into while walking around. Cute, fun, and delicious. The sign said a glass of champagne and a macaron for only a handful of dollars. Why not? Pros: - Cute décor. Small but fun. Great wallpaper. - Value for the price. We didn't buy a box. But the champagne and macaron combo was delightful - Quality. The macarons were fresh and delicious. Room for improvement: - Small space. Bit enough for our group though. Hit the spot at the right time. We loved our experience here.

Yelp
Pretty good macarons. Had a couple others in Seattle and Lady Yums was by far the best. A pack of 10 will cost you $25. Our favorites with 10 being our least favorite and 1 being our most favorite 10. Chocolate Gummy Bear 9. Smores 8. Unicorn 7. Toasted Coconut 6. Honey Lavender 5. Butter Cake 4. Toffee 3. Espresso Fudge 2. Oatmeal Cookie 1. Lemon

Yelp
My wife and I decided to try Lady Yum since we heard great things about it from a Seattle local. The simple-and-clean interior and the wide colorful selections of macarons are pleasing to the eye. We ordered 4 macarons and a glass of rose. I chose the shindig and unicorn flavors. The shindig felt as if I was eating fruity pebbles and milk! The unicorn tasted like sunshine and shooting rainbows. What we enjoyed the most was actually the service. The staff was so friendly and patient to us. He has a vibrant and bubbly personality that really felt warm and welcoming to us. We left Lady Yum with our hearts filled.

Yelp
Let me start by saying that I've always been a sucker for macarons, and on my recent trip to Seattle, I stumbled upon Lady Yum, a charming macaron shop. As soon as I walked in, I knew I was in for a treat. Lady Yum has a nice, quaint ambiance that oozes class. The delicate decor and soft lighting create a cozy atmosphere that transports you to a world of sweet indulgence. It's the kind of place that makes you feel fancy without being pretentious. As a fan of macarons, I was eager to see what Lady Yum had to offer. Now, let's talk about the most important part - the macarons. I treated myself to a mother of pearl (lychee) macaron. Yes, at $2.50 a pop, they are on the pricier side, but hey, we're talking about macarons here. And let me tell you, it was worth every penny. The mother of pearl macaron at Lady Yum was simply stellar. The delicate shell had a perfect balance of crispness and chewiness, creating a textural symphony in every bite. As I took my first nibble, the flavors of lychee danced on my taste buds, transporting me to a tropical paradise. It was like a burst of sunshine in my mouth. The filling was velvety smooth and had just the right amount of sweetness. It was clear that these macarons were made with precision and care. Lady Yum is a macaron haven that delivers on both taste and elegance. The shop's quaint ambiance sets the stage for a delightful experience, and their macarons are a testament to their craftsmanship. While the price may seem a bit steep for a tiny treat, the quality and flavor make it worth the occasional splurge. So, if you find yourself in Seattle, be sure to indulge in the delectable macarons at Lady Yum. Trust me, it's a sweet experience you won't want to miss.

Yelp
Macaroons - they had so many choices, got little lost in macaroon heaven. I bought 8 different flavors. I just tried the toasted coconut and it was good. The person that helped was nice . Thank you.

Yelp
I was in the Seattle airport Sunday, November 5, 2023 at around 10pm and the lady who was working cashier was absolutely great! She had wonderful customer service and we talked about the upcoming Bad Bunny concert she will be attending. She introduced me to some really amazing macarons! The flavors I got were all so delicious! Absolutely no imperfections at all, next time I go, I will be sure I buy more!

Yelp
I tried this place on my second trip to Seattle. This place is absolutely amazing. These are some of the best macaroons I've had in a long time. Has a very cute ambience and amazing service. The workers have amazing recommendations. Constantly ordering these on their website and having them shipped to my house. They are so good.
google avatar

Yelp
I was in the Seattle area for three days and came here twice. The macrons are the best ones I've had in awhile. They are fresh and fluffy and there are a ton of fun flavors that really taste like what they are described as. There was a person who worked here who was just so thoughtful when packing my macrons I was getting as a gift (we could have chatted for hours.) They serve champagne as well, which would make this a fun day date with your bestie, or a cute evening date for dessert! The decor is adorable and they have a little gift sections of candles and cards so you can get a cute gift put together. I will say, they are pretty pricey but it's well worth it.
google avatar

Jenna L.

Yelp
Had a coworker bring back these from a visit in Seattle and they were AMAZING! One of the best macarons I've had (and I usually don't like macarons that much because I think the outside can sometimes be too doughy, but these were so light and flaky). I tried the honey lavender and the toffee, personally loved the toffee more! They came boxed up like this in a set of 12, and it's perfect for a gift. (Please bring me back some on your next visit )
google avatar

Nicole Y.

Yelp
I tried so many flavors and they've all been off the charts!!!!! I purchased 12 for a Galentines date with my friends and ive had macaroons so many times but I had no idea how much better these would be than the average macaroon. Plus the flavors were literally all amazing. The red hot Valentine's macaroon tasted exactly like a hot tamale that married a cookie. The cotton candy-- heaven, the fruity pebbles-- party in my mouth, the banana caramel-- tasted like the banana pudding in the south. All of them heavenly. The man behind the counter was extremely personable and helpful, the store while tiny was adorably decorated. 10/10 highly recommend.

Yelp
Been enjoying Lady Yum macarons for years, both at this location and at SeaTac. Lady Yum macarons have the best selection of flavors year-round and seasonally - distinctively creative, unique, gorgeous, flavorful and delicious. Extremely rare for macarons to hit high marks across the board like this! Whereas certain, more well-known macaron establishments (Le Panier) anchor on traditional flavors, Lady Yum shines on innovative flavors and over the years, their recipes and technique continues to get better and better. Some of my favorite original flavors include toasted coconut and raspberry chardonnay. The current seasonal strawberry passionfruit is probably the best passionfruit mac in Seattle. Most recently, Lady Yum featured a limited edition pineapple red bean macaron for Lunar New Year, stunning and delicious! Lady Yum has several gorgeous gift assortments on rotation, which make perfect gifts or treat yourself! Love supporting local, especially when they do such a rockstar job. Excited to check out bottomless Mimosa Tuesdays at their Pioneer Square location!

Yelp
Beautiful macarons with a great variety of flavors and not overly sweet. As someone who has struggled to perfect making my own macarons, just wow, these Macs are textbook - smooth tops, full Macs, good feet and a great taste. I got 10 macarons of various flavors ($25) and so far the watermelon, chocolate mint and toasted coconut did not disappoint. Can't wait to take a bite of all ten or maybe I'll share but I don't think any are making it home. Look no further if you're looking for a great macaron!
google avatar

Nishika T.

Yelp
Lady yum has not disappointed me yet! The store is small and located right below the Day 1 building. They are always switching up their flavors and have the classics you would expect as well. This time I got a variety of new seasonal ones and WOW! These macarons are thicker than other places I go to, I don't know if that is considered good or not but hey it tasted amazing and the service/workers are always so nice

While visiting Seattle, my daughter discovered this place on Yelp and I told her I would get some. I figured I would make it in time, but ended up running the opposite direction. After stumbling, calling an answering machine (aka voicemail), stumbling through a safety test for a rental e-scoot, and discovering I was breaking Seattle's helmet laws, I made it it Lady Yum. Being five after closing, i didn't have high hopes. After a few minutes of desperate begging and relearning how to zoom my second freshly shattered iPhone screen, the lovely lady answered my prayers. I severely underpaid for these as they are THE BEST macaroons that I have ever tasted. Truth be told, the blue sprinkled one is the only one I had a nibble of, but the blueberry (oh I hope they are) really comes through. The presentation is outstanding, even though I think I crushed them on my ride back. My daughter was crushed as well when I told her she could only have one tonight. And after her desperate pleading I decided to give her another half, since I was afforded the same generosity by the lovely lady of Lady Yum. I think I am more excited than my daughter for tomorrow when I get to try all five.
