"The most accessible staycation spot for East Bay residents, Lafayette Park Hotel & Spa is like a quick trip to Europe without the hefty price tag. The petite, shallow pool is open to hotel guests or spa guests with a special upgrade (ask ahead). The Park Bistro’s menu celebrates hotel classics with California produce and products (think, Dungeness crab) and can be procured via a dedicated on the pool deck on weekdays, or from your chaise lounge on weekends, when there’s live service. Seasonal salads are a hit, especially when they feature ripe nectarines and strawberries on a bed of feta-labneh cream. Avocado toast features the fruit two ways, schmeared and charred, with blistered cherry tomatoes atop a runny poached egg. Garlic confit deepens the flavor of a levain grilled cheese with white cheddar and swiss, joined by a cup of roasted red pepper or other seasonal soup. Burgers, hearty sandwiches, and protein-driven main dishes round out the lunch menu. At breakfast, a swim can end with any manner of omelet, quiche du jour, or french toast with mascarpone cream." - Laura Smith Borrman

My husband and I decided to celebrate my birthday with a nice staycation at the Lafayette Plaza Hotel. I must say that our stay was quite memorable and we had an enjoyable and delightful time.||||I called ahead since we had not visited to the hotel since before the pandemic. April answered the phone and she was pleasant, professional and informative. On the day of our visit, we were warmly welcomed at the front desk by April; which I believe set the stage for what was to come. We later received a lovely complementary bottle of champagne which we very much appreciate.||||Our room was lovely, perfectly decorated, comfortable and clean. The pool area and surrounding landscaping is exceptionally beautiful and well kept. The restaurant did not disappoint, the decor and ambiance is delightful. The staff were friendly provided excellent service.||||Thank you April, for setting the stage for my special day. You are very much appreciated.

My room was spacious with a nice view of the courtyard. There was a lovey wedding there on Sunday which my room overlooked. The ceiling was sloped, large bathtub and mid-range bedding. The fixtures were dated, walls and furniture had normal wear and tear from use. The main desk lamp outlets were loose and if used the wires came out of the socket. That was a little scary but obvious enough I did not use them. Felt like the price and location should have provided nicer linens, toiletries and amenities. The housekeeping was excellent. Room service was somewhat awkward at times, possibly due to new staff. The restaurant totally uninspired, pricey and basic. Multiple times I ordered tea, eggs and a bagel for breakfast and the tray came without any sweeteners or salt and pepper. I hate to say it ruined my breakfast but I really don't like eggs with no salt and tea with no sugar. Would love to find a true luxury retreat in this area but I'm still looking. I'll be back if I find nothing better but I'll be sure to request salt, pepper, sweeteners and anything else not listed on the menu but required for a meal.

Lafayette Park has been my personal "go-to" since it was built and replaced the Lumber Yard my Grandfather loved..been coming since the days of the "Duck Club" and continue today as the property updates and upgrades and holds a special place for me and the family and associates alike. The staff is a high point as low turn-over and personal service make if feel personable and we feel valued as a guest each visit. Appreciated especially in a post Covid era..I do note - the Valet is still not back so it is self-park.

A really nice upscale hotel and spa right outside Concord, California. The suites are very large and incredibly comfortable. The staff went out of their way to be friendly and make you feel at home. Highly Recommended.

My husband and I stayed June 9-11, 2024. Everything was as perfect as possible. Each staff member from groundskeeper to housekeeping to front desk was charming and easy to smile.||The property is immaculately kept and very, very clean.||The bed was SO soft and comfortable, it made it hard to leave for the day.||Only the decadent food and superior service of The Bistro made us leave the room. ||We ended up having breakfast (twice), late lunch and dinner there. Every single dish was executed wonderfully. The servers and staff were knowledgeable and congenial. I'm still thinking of the quiche and fries we had. How do you DO that? :)||Thank you for such a lovely experience! We'll be back!

My stay at Lafayette Hotel in California was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the hotel's cleanliness and attention to detail. The lobby was inviting and well-maintained, setting the tone for a wonderful visit. The views from my room were simply breathtaking. Whether it was overlooking the city skyline or enjoying a glimpse of the serene surroundings, each view was a treat for the eyes. It truly added an extra layer of enjoyment to my stay. The room itself was comfortable and thoughtfully designed. The furnishings were modern and stylish, creating a cozy atmosphere that made me feel right at home. The bed was particularly comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep. What stood out most was the impeccable cleanliness throughout the hotel. Every corner seemed spotless, which gave me peace of mind during my stay. The staff at Lafayette Hotel were friendly and accommodating, always ready to assist with any requests. Their professionalism and warmth made the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, I had a fantastic stay at Lafayette Hotel and would love to return. It's a perfect choice for anyone looking for a clean, comfortable, and scenic place to stay in California. I highly recommend it and look forward to my next visit.

We've been staying at the Lafayette Park for years to visit family in Orinda and as a stop=over to regular trips up to the Mendocino Coast and it is consistently good. Our most recent stay was last month and it was once again up-to-snuff -- a reliably comfortable travel choice.

My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner here which was great. Beautiful courtyard and good food/service. We had quite a large group staying the weekend for our wedding. The downfall was when we returned to our suite on Friday evening (around 8:30pm). By 9:15 we received a noise complaint from the front desk (mind you, it was myself, my husband, and a groomsmen sitting and chatting in the living area). At 9:45 we received another call from the front desk for a noise complaint. My husband and the groomsmen took the first 2 calls. At 10:30pm we recieved another call. By this point I was really bothered that we can’t have a normal level conversation the night before our wedding. I answered and it was another noise complaint. I asked what type of noises and they said “celebration noises” I asked for clarification and they said laughing. For the cost of this place I would have hoped to be able to laugh and chat in my room on such a momentous weekend for us as we were getting married. This was not the case with paper thin walls and sensitive neighbors. I would not stay here again because the whole thing ruined our evening the night before the wedding and even after because we realized that we couldn’t hang out or even talk above a WHISPER in our room without a noise complaint. Beware brides and grooms if you want to be able to hangout with your parties or even talk in the evenings.

Yelp
Tammy and Kevin took me to Mother's Day brunch here today. We used to meet at the Duck Club and their other restaurant for special occasions before the pandemic, when Alan was alive. As a matter of fact, one of my birthday photos was taken there, the profile photo w/ me behind a dessert w/ a birthday candle on it. Tammy made 1:30 reservations. She was given the choice of that or 11:00 and, knowing I sleep late, she thoughtfully chose the later time. When I arrived I parked in the garage and texted her that I was there. I took the elevator up and saw tables of desserts w/ people clustered around them. I was greeted by staff members and then Tammy and Kevin came in from the lobby, where they had been waiting for me. We were led to a table for four. There were long tables loaded w/ salads, cheeses, cold cuts, crab claws and shrimp and assorted other dishes, like scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, Eggs Benedict and something else that looked like a Benedict, but was different. There was also, on another table, Beef Wellington, cioppino, rolls and an omelet station. I had champagne to drink and Tammy had a Cosmo. Kevin had a Diet Coke. We went to the start of the line and filled our plates w/ small bits of most everything. I loved the beet salad. Tammy did too and raved about the strawberry salad, which was out when I went back for it. I had some cheeses and cold cuts and a Benedict, which had a perfectly runny egg, impressing both Tammy and me. The shrimp and crab claws were excellent. Truth be told, everything was fresh and flavorful. I went back for seconds and had scrambled eggs, a strip of bacon, more beet salad and a little bit of Beef Wellington, which was good. I couldn't have much more than that, so I skipped the cioppino and didn't have a second Benedict or more cheese or cold cuts.. Kevin had a cookie, pecan pie and a macaron or two. I had a bit of his cookie and some macarons, which were tiny and good. The food was excellent and I was full enough that I skipped dinner completely.

Yelp
We've driven past this legendary Bay Area hotel for the past two decades and always tried to imagine the luxury within. We've been lucky enough to have stayed at the Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa (a sister property) several times and always felt like it was the total splurge in elegant California hospitality. So finally we had a chance to spend one night, and it not exaggeration when I say praise jebus it's only one night. Let me put it this way, we haven't even gone to bed or checked out yet and we wish we could get a do-over on our decision to stay here. It would have been better to maintain the illusion in our minds of the hallowed "luxury." The general take away is how dated and in need of a facelift everything seemed. From the wood floors outside the elevators, to the old elevators, to the room carpeting, to grandmas stained and worn room furniture and furnishings, to the not really big enough for bathing in bathtub, to the not even cool enough to be retro sink fixtures. All of it is just kind of shabby and nowhere near the quality you would expect from the cost of a nights stay here. The bed was also disappointing. First glance it looked like your standard hotel bed with crisp sheets, duvet, and all hospital corners. But after 5 minutes reclining I found my body sinking unevenly in some places while feeling supported in other spots. My head felt lower than my torso, like I was lying head down on a slight incline. So much so that I had to stuff the ironing board under the mattress to try to even things out. The irregularities persisted the more we looked around. Or sniffed around. The first impression of the room was a general musty odor. Like the room needed an airing out or dehumidifier. Again, a grandmas house vibe. When we opened the windows for some fresh air, we also noticed there were no screens in the windows (we're from the East Bay and can speak with authority on our mosquitos and flys). And I'm not sure if there was supposed to be one, but our room had no directory book or room service menu. Also, was the toilet tissue holder with the opening facing the direction you pull so that the roll falls off every time you pull installed by a sadist? I'd like to note that the interaction with staff on checkin was professional and pleasant. So no complaints there. Likewise, we did not eat or have drinks at the hotel, so we can't comment in that regard. I'm not trying to beat up on the Lafayette Park Hotel & Spa. We really wanted this stay to be great. We went into this short stay with every expectation that we would be striking gold. Unfortunately, we struck out instead.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite hotels! My wife and I live locally and we come here few times a year just for a little staycation. When you go through the doors you feel like you are transported to somewhere in France. There are several aspects to things we love about this hotel, so I am going to break it down in sections. Parking: 5/5 Parking is very easy. They have some outdoor parking right around the hotel and smaller 1 floor garage. The elevator from the garage is close to any parking space down there. Parking is $25 for a night/day with in an out privileges. Rooms: 5/5 The rooms are very nice. They have nice furniture, comfortable bed and are very spacious (Much larger than a standard hotel room). The rooms all have a mini fridge that you can put your drinks or leftovers in as well an area to make drinks, coffee, etc. They also include 2 bottles of water of their own brand for free. They also have a wine bottle opener to use at your leisure. There are 2 very nice spa robes for your use that are stored in the closet. The cool thing is that if you like the robes or any of the accessories such as the wine opener, you can simply take them home with you and they will include the charge to your bill. (The pricing for these items is listed in your room). Accommodations: 5/5 The accommodations include a heated pool, hot tub, fitness center, party room, event room, relaxing courtyards with seating areas and tables, spa treatment area and an attached restaurant (The Park Bistro and Bar). The pool and fitness area are just so beautiful and relaxing. The hot tub is always at a good temp and the pool is always warm. They have plenty of seating and loungers with umbrellas. There is also a beautiful large gas fireplace area with tables and chairs in front of it. Perfect place to hang out and read a book or enjoy your coffee. The fitness center and spa area are both facing the pool courtyard. There used to be a sauna right next to the hot tub, but it looks like they have shut that down now and use it for storage unfortunately. Even without this though, it's still a 5/5. They also have pool towels that are accessible and a large water filling station with cups in the area. They also offer a pool day use pass if you just want to enjoy this area without staying in the hotel. Service: 5/5 Every time we have stayed, we have received excellent customer service. Most of the time, we have received a complimentary room upgrade upon check-in. The staff is always very friendly and greet you with a smile. Price: 5/5 Prices range from $200-300+ depending on the day of the week, the type of room and if they have any specials going on. They seem to run several deals throughout the year. So it is worth checking their website from time to time. But, on average we have paid about $230-250 for a 1 king bed standard room when we have stayed, and we always feel we get our money's worth for what we get with the room. Area: 5/5 This is walking distance to downtown Lafayette which has several shops, restaurants, cafes and grocery stores. It is also very close to Bart (short Uber drive or about a 15-20 min walk.) This hotel is great if you are not from the area and want a great place to stay and still have easy access to SF or anywhere else around the Bay Area. It's also great to have a romantic or family/friends staycation or event.

Yelp
One of the most relaxing experiences we had with our family at this hotel ! The staff is very friendly. I had booked a massage at the spa and wanted to change it to a couples massage's and they accommodated by calling in a masseuse. The bistro has delicious cocktails and desserts. Beautiful property in the beautiful north Bay Area.

Yelp
Had the BEST time for Valentines Day at the Lafayette Park Hotel! The service from April at the front desk was especially superb, she catered to all my needs and deserves all the recognition! She truly made our stay the best time. The room was gorgeous, location is perfect with easy access to downtown. The amenities are clean and well kept. Like a slice of heaven in my hometown. I can't believe I'd never been. Parking was easy and all staff was very friendly and helpful. You didn't see one face of any employee not smiling and greeting you anywhere you go. I would absolutely recommend this place to friends visiting the area. So calm and serene.

Yelp
It's been a while, we went after Christmas in a Tuesday and it was packed at the bar, we made reservations via Yelp earlier in the day. Tasty food-good service. Not particularly fast but we enjoyed it.

Patrick A.

Yelp
This was the best hotel i've stayed at with friendly service and a very clean executive like suite. The view outside the window of the water fountain and bistro area. Our room had a "at home" feel to it, very relaxing.

Chloe P.

Yelp
This is like a common old fashioned cute hotel. The hotel is big and nice although it isn't in the best location the space makes up for that. They have all the amenities you could want and the rooms are very big. The bathrooms are a decent size and there are a bunch of lotions and moisturizer samples. The shampoo are in big containers and have nice scents. The shampoo is mint, the body wash is lemon grass and the conditioner is also mint.I personally love those flavors but the mint can sting min your eyes and isn't great for babies or younger kids. The water pressure is light which I like but some people might not. The beds are nice and have nice backboards but are a little soggy and uncomfortable for two people. There is a nice elegant desk and chairs as well as the room bring a very big size with tall ceilings. The closet is the perfect size for someone who is staying for a week and there is a TV in the room but it doesn't have cable TV which is annoying. The food I didn't get to try because for the room service the person was coughing and she said the wait was at least an hour for the food.

Lisette R.

Yelp
i was one of the first clients in the morning. the ambiance was great and rooms were clean my massage was really relaxing. We had lunch there and food was good but I wasn't crazy about all the options.

Debbie L.

Yelp
Everything was great! Friendly and attentive service, how quickly the food came out, and the drinks and dishes were delicious. Standouts were the appetizers: delicious and tender grilled octopus and the tomatoes and burrata salad was amazing. The mains were ok: braised short rib was a bit dry and salty, and the salmon was not as memorable. The fries were good! My husband was a huge fan of the creme brûlée and we were fans of the specialty drinks with local gin as well!

Val L.

Yelp
Stayed there this weekend. We had two rooms and spent the bulk of the time poolside. Likes: Great staff and service. The property is well kept but not snooty. Halibut at dinner was a stand out. Robert who helped us with our luggage at checkin was smooth and professional. You can opt out of housekeeping (but don't forget to tip the poor staff who miss out). Terrific water pressure in the rain showers. Dislikes: they charged us for self parking on the property. In the suburbs? That is bullshit bilking tourists. We dropped a couple of grand there, but the $$100 added for parking really left a bad taste. There was no mention of this until we found it on the bill. It strikes me as a cash grab. Also, the pool is small and 4 ft deep, so consider it a dip pool.

Kerry H.

Yelp
I've never stayed at this hotel. However several friends and I dined there for lunch today. Because our party was 11 in total we had reserved a large table in a private room. We sat down at 11:20 am and were not served until 12:38! We were only served water during this time and at 12:38 our starters r arrived with our drink orders. Those who had not ordered a starter had to watch us eat until their orders arrived, about 1:00. During this long wait time we were not offered bread nor a complementary glass of wine. Nor did we ever see a dessert menu. There are many excellent restaurants in the Walnut Creek/Lafayette area. This is not one of them.

Nelly K.

Yelp
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots for brunch and dinner. They have a great outdoor patio and the food is delicious. There is plenty of parking and the service is great! The Ora king salmon is served with crispy shallots, corn, green beans, cherry tomatoes and a pistachio arugula pesto and is one of my favorite salmon dishes of all time. They also have a good wine selection. Will definitely be back for more!

Anna S.

Yelp
The ambiance of the hotel is lovely but I found it really lacking when it came to hospitality, at least as far as the front desk goes. We got zero warmth upon arrival -- in fact I would go as far as to say that it was one of the worst receptions I've ever received ... it wasn't hostile, it just felt like I was walking up to a window of the DMV, not checking into a really pricey suite at an upscale hotel. The suite we stayed in was super underwhelming despite it supposedly being one of the nicest suites in the hotel. There were some nice touches, such as a couple complimentary things but it was super disappointing. The next day we had a nice experience at breakfast, as all of the servers and food service people were very sweet and super professional but here's what happened next: the hospitality took a serious nosedive when, as we were getting ready to check out, I got an episode of Tacychardia. I had my daughter call the front desk to explain I had this condition and couldn't really move until it passed but she was told that the manager had told them under no circumstances to let anyone stay past checkout. Here I was -- my heart rate was past 200 and I had to stress about getting out of the room before it converted. Ultimately, my brother and daughter spoke to someone in person and they said I could stay longer but at that point I had already dragged myself out of the hotel room, barely being able to breathe as I slowly made my way out. Did anyone ask if I was ok or offer anything during this time? Absolutely not. What happened next is a cosmic joke: I have an electric Mercedes and I locked my keys in the car with my phone. I was unable, despite trying over and over again in the garage, to get my car open. I spent four hours dealing with Mercedes to deal with it (luckily my brother took my daughter shopping during this ordeal and literally no one except for the bell hop (who was amazing) showed me any sympathy or even offered me anything. They didn't even bother to acknowledge me at all. I am not one of these people who thinks service people are slighting me left and right -- in fact, it's extremely rare for me to find problems with customer service but I almost felt like I was in a Soviet bloc hotel circa 1980 with the indifference and lack of hospitality I felt. Seriously. Again, the pool area and general ambiance were lovely but wow, they need a personnel overhaul. The other serious ding is their shoddy WiFi set up. It's unsecured and super weak and there is no excuse for either of those in this day and age. Invest in better routers and boosters and set your system up so that guests actually have to sign in. This hotel is in the SF Bay Area, not Alabama! I would never return here because my experience was pretty much the opposite of what you would hope to receive at any hotel/spa. You want to be nurtured and given respite and warmth. This is what the hospitality industry is all about but other than the servers and the bell hop I did not find that here.

Tonya W.

Yelp
Clean, quaint and quiet with comfy beds and all the toiletry extras you need. Great breakfast and service too! Just what we needed after a long travel day.

LaRae B.

Yelp
Lovely hotel with good service, gorgeous interiors, and a solid bar & restaurant. Plenty of parking and check-in was a breeze. The rooms are well-appointed and the shower had excellent water pressure (important if you travel a lot - you know what I mean!) Highly recommend and would stay here again.

Erica F.

Yelp
Whether you're looking for a relaxing get away, a staycation destination, or hosting an event, Lafayette Park Hotel and Spa has everything you need! The hotel staff went above and beyond to help our team host a truly unforgettable year end celebration for our students and families. The hotel is beautiful; whether you're sitting in the fountain courtyard, enjoying the pool, or relaxing in your room! Not to mention the on site restaurant is delicious!

Connie S.

Yelp
I booked a massage recently and was very disappointed to learn that spa guests are not allowed to use the pool *unless* "there is availability" (based on hotel guest usage) AND they pay an additional $35 or $50 (depending on the day of the week). That's outrageous. I dropped $275 at the spa - which was MORE than the nightly room rate for that same night- and they seriously expect me to pay another $35-$50 to use the pool that is located directly in front on the spa?! Absolutely not. What a terrible guest experience.

Vi N.

Yelp
I am definitely a regular here!!! Pre-pandemic I use to have Wednesdays off and they offered discounts on treatments to encourage people to come in on the week days. I went every couple of months. Now I go as a treat whenever I feel stressed... which is often! I've had massages, facials too...but what I love the most are their body wraps. The wild flower wrap starts with your entire body being exfoliated, then lathered up with a fantastic moisturizer. And a nice massage right before you're wrapped up like a cocoon. Then they finish was a scalp and shoulder massage. I absolutely love this place and try to bring as many people with me as possible. Had my birthday here with 4 of my girlfriends. I buy gift cards as gifts for special women in my life. Seriously. Anyone I talk to, I tell them to stay local instead of driving to Napa and spending 3 times the price.

Jboogie L.

Yelp
Came here a while ago for a birthday spa day. It was alright as it is a bit old school. The pool was okay as well as the spa treatment (not that memorable?). Easy parking.

Lesley P.

Yelp
Great Accommodations , Nice , Clean rooms Friendly & Helpful staff , the dinning was Delicious , Cook to perfection, & tasty . The wait for the desert was worth it , Spa treatment was relaxing & Great , we will be back if not for the stay , for the spa treatments

Rebecca H.

Yelp
Always impeccable food and service. The conference rooms are comfortable and quiet. I've used the spa here, it was ok, the area was cramped and no real relaxation space. I would definitely come back for work events. Free underground parking.

Ashley C.

Yelp
First time staying here was during our wedding. We stayed for a couple nights to relax and everything was perfect. We stayed at the La Marquis Suite and we used the room for getting ready with my bridesmaids. Room was huge! Separate bedroom and living room. Lots of light which was great for my hairstylist and makeup artist. The pool was great. Terence at the pool was very attentive, refilling our waters and asking if we needed anything. Would definitely come back for staycation or anniversary.

Amanda K.

Yelp
I have to say as a loyal customer for many many years at Lafayette Park Hotel & Spa, as well as the Park Bistro, I am incredibly disheartened that they reported my question which was valid and deserves an answer for anyone deciding to stay at the hotel on a Sunday or Monday night. My mom and sisters and I have been looking forward for two years to spend a day and night at the hotel with spa treatments and enjoying the restaurant and bar. Covid was hard on us all and we have been looking forward to a staycation at our local favorite spot. After we have booked everything, we went to make a reservation for dinner to only realize that the bar and restaurant close at 3 p.m. on a Sunday. My question was simply, what does this hotel recommend for guests staying here to get a bite to eat and drink since the restaurant closes well before dinner and it doesn't seem there is any room service. Also patrons should be made aware when booking a room on these nights, that there is no dinner service and they will need to find other options. But to flag my question and have it removed instead of just responding or even reaching out to me, feels like a serious lack in customer service. Either way, we did stay here on a special they had only to realize it was cheaper that day on Hotel Tonight. I mentioned something to the guy checking us in and he just ignored me. I will say the guy who checked us out was friendlier and more helpful but still, I would have appreciated just an acknowledgement that we were paying more by this so called special. Especially for a hotel that didn't have any dining The room was clean and we love the spa as always! I know these times are hard on service areas but just a little bit of customer service can go a long way.

Angellica S.

Yelp
Requested to stay at their very best suite. It wasn't as clean as I thought and had to request several additional cleaning services for the bathroom (shower curtain and bathtub, to be specific), and as a mom of two, you'll understand why bathtubs need to be cleaned throughly! Other than those requests, it was a nice stay - not four seasons nice, but nice enough to come back again. We loved their saline outdoor pool! Their in-room and pool food is really expensive for mediocre food (but thank goodness there are walkable or close-by foodie locations, including The Hideout - over fav!!!!). Service is also extremely slow!! Just order from Hideout and enjoy by the pool with the kiddos. Lots of towels available. Also, mamas... FYI - Don't feel intimidated if there are pretentious couples lying around the pool, get those kids in the pool and enjoy!!!

Bonnie G.

Yelp
Nothing but fantastic service and experience as a hotel guest, in the restaurant, and from Rene, the head of their engineering/ repair team. Last month February, I stayed at the hotel for a girls weekend. We had amazing massages, ate in the restaurant twice and had a great experience. I enjoyed the service and food at the restaurant so much, I've been back three other times with friends and family. I went for my fourth visit yesterday with my family for my mother's 83rd birthday. As we were leaving, my daughter dropped her cell phone between the gap of the elevator and the floor. The front desk took all of our information, and an hour later I received a call from Rene on his day off (Saturday). He said he would do his best to get into the elevator shaft and retrieve her phone on Monday. If he couldn't, he would call to and find how much it would cost for the elevator repair company to come out. The very next day, he came in on Sunday retrieved my daughter's phone. Thank you Rene for going above and beyond!

Micheal M.

Yelp
Not sure what's going on here but service has gone way downhill. Especially in the Bistro. The host/hostess dont understand they are in the service business. That they work there , they aren't owners. The food has never been great but it's good. I used to meet friends here with regularity - now we go elsewhere. Happy hour with new first contact folks might be happier.

Yelp
Our first stay at Lafayette Park on our way from Truckee to Santa barbara was great. Extremely helpful and courteous staff. (thank you very much, Erwiin at the valet station, Rebecca at reception), a spacious and thoughtfully appointed room, a great restaurant on site, made it a place we will return to many times. It could not have been better. Thank you, Lafayette team!

Yelp
The hotel is lovely in many ways - clean and attractively decorated. The rooms are spacious with a seating area near the window and bathroom is clean and roomy and stocked with basics. Towels are large and soft. The mattresses are in need of updating- they were both a bit lumpy and hard and the pillows, though numerous, were all pretty firm which made for an uncomfortable sleep since I like a very soft pillow. Check in service was very easy - they were able to let me go to the room an hour early. No help with luggage was offered. Parking (no valet service) was $25 per night. I stayed here because I was attending a wedding reception here. That was great - food, drinks, passed appetizers were all top notch. The dry sauna, hot tub and pool were lovely and added to my stay. Unfortunately I was unable to book spa services on the same day of my stay - if you wish to do that, plan ahead!

Yelp
This review is for the spa. I came back with my husband and I'm so glad we did. I was surprised to find the Spa Director covering for the spa front desk, Randy was very kind and got us set up right away. Luckily I got Arlene again as my massage therapist. She is just the absolute best! I booked a full body massage and she goes above and beyond with little details like keeping the bed upright when the massage is almost over so that I can easily get up, a bit of hair scalp massage and massaging my hands. She is super professional with positive vibes, we'll definitely come back. Thank you Arlene and Randy!

Yelp
Feels like I'm transported back in time. A time of elegance, leisure, good manners, and lack of large screens and technology. We used to come here at least twice a year for over 10 years to visit my mother-in-law. Sadly she is gone but the memories are still linger here because nothing has changed really except for the absent valet and certain services due to the pandemic. But that's okay. rateful this hotel still has their doors open and we can have our memories.

Yelp
I could have seen my way clear t give 5 stars were it not for the parking situation. The underground parking is very narrow and unless you are good at the limbo, street parking may be the alternative. That may require some hiking. Still a 4 fork experience. Cocktails are also solid!

Yelp
Enjoyed my stay overall. Had to change rooms... The public spaces are lovely. The rooms are outdated, frumpy and the beds are extremely uncomfortable. Restaurant was quaint and service good. The 4 star review is for the staff.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel and everyone who works there are so helpful and always make sure that your stay is comfortable.

Yelp
Spa itself is pretty mediocre. No steam room, hot tub is outside next to pool & "relaxation room" is TINY & not very comfortable. The changing room is extremely small as well. I've had 2 massages there & both were excellent. Thank you Danielle & Tatum!

Yelp
This hotel/spa/restaurant/bar...used to be an oasis of elegance in a small town. A hidden gem. No longer. They are still using Covid, as an excuse for no staff, no valet parking,

Yelp
I have been enjoying the Spa for many years ,but after it opened post Covid , management decided to charge an extra $ 30.00 on top of the Massage treatments for use of the pool and the jacuzzi .The reason according to the staff : Hotel guests were complaining that the Spa guests were occupying the pool and hot tub .Really ! Having been a Spa guest for so many years during different days of the week ,the pool and the hot tub was hardly crowded . Management has failed to recognize their Loyal Spa guests who pays for expensive treatments for a few hours of use and decided to give preference to their hotel guests ....what a shame ..

Yelp
Great massages and customer service. The spa is small, but it's one of the best places I've been to.

Yelp
Don't waste your money. I wish I had read the reviews before doing a quick getaway with a friend here recently. So many issues. They don't offer valet parking anymore and they also don't communicate that to customers. I arrived close to my spa appointment and was hoping to have my car parked. There wasn't a valet attendant in sight or even a sign to communicate it's no longer offered. I understand we're still coming out of the pandemic but a message about no valet service would be perfect in the email that confirms my reservation. The parking lot is super steep on both sides and I have manual transmission. Then I had to pay $25 for this challenging parking situation. Also, the food is terrible! I couldn't believe how low the quality was. Who is preparing this food? Send them back to culinary school immediately. I had requested a quiet room and I got that with a nice view of the cemetery. Isn't that uplifting? After I parked my car I made my way into the lobby, hoping I could check in quickly so I could drop my bag off at the room and get to the spa. As I approached the line a woman was backing up very fast and almost right into me. I gently placed my hand of her back and said "Watch out." She turned to look at me and this energy of rage just radiated off of her. When I could take in more of the room, I could see she was a wedding photographer taking pictures of a bride and groom on the stairs. I hadn't had time to see what was happening (there was a crowd watching too) or I would have just moved out of the way. Her look and energy could have turned me into a pile of ashes. Classy! The spa treatment was good but the spa is very small. I won't be returning to this hotel. The lack of communication of important details, the low-quality food paired with the ultra-high prices (I paid $12 for a bottle of water in my room) just isn't worth it. What a disappointment.

Yelp
I've stayed here several times for business conferences and travel. I'm not doing air bnb this weekend so decided to come here again. The hotel and rooms are extremely nice, fresh and clean, and have a charming vibe to them. The service is pleasant and helpful, and the cuisine is excellent. My weekday stays were surprisingly affordable, providing fantastic value. I haven't yet visited the spa; perhaps next time.

Yelp
My daughter and I came here to attend a Christmas party given by my former company and as a venue for the event, the place was wonderful! The festive decor was fitting to the warmth of the Yuletide season. Service was never lacking and always present for refills and servicing tables of the used flatware. There was valet and self-parking available. I went for the underground self-parking (which was free), but the stalls were a bit too small. Markings on the spots were mostly for compact vehicles, but I think that even a compact vehicle would find these spots a bit tight. Lucky enough, I got a non-compact spot (very rare find) and fitted my mid-size nicely. It's a great place to hold company events. Classy, comfortable and feels very inviting, especially when we were there to celebrate the Christmas season!

Yelp
I Don't usually write review on Hotel, but once in the blue moon I do write a quick and short review. 1) The hotel is fancy, elegant and very well design and gorgeous floor plan. 2) Valet parking: good so your car is safe and secure. Down fall will be cost. 3) Hotel staffs were nice and professional and treat all their guests with up most respect. 4) The hotel room was nice and clean. Bed was comfy and the fire place is awesome... The down fall is there are lots of small wear and tear in the vast groom that need to be updated. Overall, it's a great place to stay and enjoy a weekend get away or business trip.

Yelp
We opted to stay here rather than in the city during our SF stop on road-trip because we didn't want to have to deal with the parking situation with having some extra stuff in our car from our travels. It cost the same to stay here as our choice of hotel in the city and here we had way more space plus access to the pool/jacuzzi. We were so glad we made this decision, the drive to the city was so close and it was much more relaxing to come home to the jacuzzi after our day in the city than to be stuck in a small hotel room if we had stayed there instead. It is very quaint and felt clean and safe.

Yelp
A wonderful place experience. The staff is there to assist you and make your experience magical. You must do the Spa.

Yelp
I came for a high school graduation in the area and this hotel was such a special hidden gem. The staff made me feel like I was coming home even though the only other time I had been at the hotel was 7 years ago. The food at the bistro was amazing and such a relaxing spa and swimming pool environment . My room was bigger then other rooms that I have paid double the price for . Also it was nice having such a new large screen TV . I was sad to have to leave .

Yelp
Hotel rooms are dated and no valet parking. Unfortunately, I won't be coming back. Park Bistro is good though.

Yelp
Decided to had a quick staycation in the location area with my partner so we booked this hotel for 2 nights. The experience was amazing! 1. We did not have any problem finding a parking here since it was plenty. Never needed to use valet so it saved us a few bucks. 2. The staff was so friendly and attentive. I asked for a big and high view and they could be able to accommodate. Not a problem at all. 3. The place is very quiet, we could be able to enjoy ourselves in the room and haven't been outside for 2 days. We order food delivery to our room with no issue at all. 4. We love the Pool and the Sauna, since it was in the middle of the week so it was not crowded at all, like only 5 people :) loved it. The only downsize is that there was no food for room service on some specific days but that was not a problem, we could use our own food delivery app :) overall, love it!

Yelp
I have stayed at this hotel twice in the last two weeks and over I give them high marks. I have had a couple small issues but these were resolved quickly. During this covid time daily housekeeping must be requested which I understand and support, however they should do something regarding the in room coffee. Each time I stayed two nights and each time on day two I didn't have coffee or cream when I got up. Perhaps placing enough for two days in the rooms? That allows for not needed service on additional days and still proving a decent amenity. Just a suggestion Room was spotless as is the property and staff are very helpful.

Yelp
This is my fourth time staying at this hotel and it was pretty much the same and all was well other than the pool/hot tub area this morning. I didn't arrive to the pool until almost 9:00 am (opens at 7:00) and was so looking forward to the hot tub soak and swimming some laps. When I arrived, no one was around, but within 5 mins. there were two maintenance guys and housekeeping. The maintenance guys were vacuuming the pool, backwashing the pool and checking the chemicals in both the hot tub and pool (mind you I was in the hot tub at this time). This made it a bit awkward for me seeing as I was sitting there trying to relax while they are literally two inches away from me pulling up the skimmer basket and emptying it, etc... Meanwhile housekeeping is cleaning the restroom by the pool, sweeping, emptying the trash cans and leaving bags of garbage everywhere. I am getting super warm by this point, but can't hop into the pool because they're still backwashing it.. not ideal. So I spend over 45 mins in the hot tub waiting for the pool to be open, which will cut into my morning schedule. Super awkward and inconvenient at best. A hotel's pool/hot tub situation is one of the main reasons I book certain hotels. This totally ruined that for me and I'm not one to complain, but as I type this, I'm still waiting for some pool time and there to be no housekeeping at the moment, but no luck and it's been an hour! Maybe the pool isn't typically busy on a Tuesday morning, but use a bit of tact. Like sweeping literally in my face and all around me like I'm not here?!?! What is that? I suggest doing all of these things before the pool opens or after it closes. If your going to advertise and exclaim that your pool area is such an "oasis", then maybe make that so for your guests. With all of the people coming and going, it felt more like a public pool that teaches kids swimming lessons or the YMCA, not a luxury oasis type pool at a hotel. Like I said, doing the bulk of this type of daily maintenance should be done before or after the pool opens or closes. It's just good business practice.

Yelp
This review is for our interaction with Lafayette Park which ultimately led to our inability to stay there. As parents to an infant and four year old, we were very much looking forward to a night away. Unfortunately, we mistakenly booked for the day of booking rather than the following weekend when we planned on staying. We realized our error a few hours later and immediately called. Lafayette refused to work with us. We assured them we would be booking again for the correct date to no avail. So now we are out almost $300 which will cost us our ability to get away at all. We are very saddened that their staunch devotion to their corporate rules won out over common sense and decency. Book with caution.
