"Lagniappe Kitchen & Bar will officially open Friday, August 19, welcoming guests to a Heights restaurant and cafe that’s heavy with Louisiana influences. Helmed by New Orleans native Layne Cruz, the cafe at 550 Heights Boulevard will feature a spin on Louisiana classics, a Black & Tan po’ boy loaded with blackened shrimp and fried oysters; hush puppies stuffed with either crab or pimento cheese during happy hour; and red beans and rice, which just like in NOLA, will be traditionally served on Mondays. Muffulettas, layered with olive and pepper mortadella made in-house, will also be served in standard fashion — in quarters, halves, or wholes. The restaurant also emphasizes breakfast and lunch, with dishes like cheddar bacon biscuits; veggie pappardelle; a Sardou omelet made with bechamel creamed spinach, grilled artichoke, smoked ham; and gumbo loaded with andouille sausage and chicken. Coffee drinks like Vietnamese iced coffee and a NOLA latte with beans sourced from New Orleans roasters will be served throughout the day starting at 7 a.m., with the option to imbibe on New Orleans-inspired cocktails, beer, and wine later in the day. The decor, inspired by Cruz’s living room, pays homage to Louisiana with a color palette inspired by the New Orleans’ Saints football team and the colors of Louisiana State University. Lagniappe is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, with brunch served from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday and Monday. Happy hour is all day Tuesday and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday." - Brittany Britto Garley

We stopped by for brunch with friends and really enjoyed the food, coffee, and ambiance. We had the Everything Bagel Sandwich, Low Country Quiche, and Big Muffuletta. The food all had great flavor and was well prepared. We also had the Cafe Au Lait with chicory, the temperature and flavor were perfect. We finished with the Beignets which were the perfect sweet bit to finish the meal. I definitely recommend giving them a try! Plenty of parking.

Really good food that is splittable. We got the fried green tomatoes, muffuletta, and fried pimento cheese balls. The cold brew lemonade and hibiscus tea were good as well. Looking forward to trying the gumbo.

Relaxed atmosphere; The food was good. The Lagniappe fries were deliciously crispy. The only setback was the waiting time for the food. They were super busy and may not be fully staffed. Other than that, it was a good place to eat, there was live music on a Sunday morning.

Love this place! The food is always delicious and staff is friendly. It's definitely becoming my go-to spot for breakfast and lunch. They also have delicious cocktails. Tried the grits and shrimp this morning and they did not disappoint. Delicious garlicky!

Stopped by for late lunch and really enjoyed it. The crab hush puppies were interesting and delicious. I had the Black and Tan po boy and my wife had the muffuletta. Both plate went back to the kitchen sink empty! They have HH all day Tuesdays too! We will be back.

*edit- They're now open!* They open in a few days! They're finishing up remodeling as this used to be Revival Market. Super sweet when I made an order through Toast as they were testing their system. They were kind enough to make the order as well. I ordered a New Orleans Iced mocha with oat milk. It was precisely what I needed too! Not too sweet, nice and full bodied. I will update after they open and order some food. Style: Cajun Interior: I sneaked a peek through the cracked door, looks rustic chic but will update. Temperament: So far extremely pleasant and willing to help through the mishap. They have beignets on the menu and I cannot wait to test them out! Go peek at their menu on Toast but don't order yet ;)

I visited this place earlier today with a friend and we loved it! There was plenty of parking, and the atmosphere and decor were awesome - we loved the interior. They also have outdoor seating but today was a little too cold (for us) to sit outside. The service was great - we were attended to immediately , and our server was very friendly. The food was fantastic. I ordered the shrimp and grits, and my friend ordered the omelette. Both were excellent choices - I will get the omelette next time! We have both spent a lot of time in New Orleans, and the flavours were authentic. I will definitely be coming back to this place soon!
