I haven't ever stopped into the Davenport Lagomarcino's before. I used to stop over at the Moline location with friends on certain Wednesdays after getting a meal nearby for ice cream. I wanted much the same after a sandwich at Village Corner Deli today, so I walked over to satiate my sweet tooth.
The interior of this Lagomarcino's is much the same as I remember the Moline location. Glossy stained wood display cases line the wall opposite the entrance with all manner of chocolate confections. The floor is made up of a patterned tile surface throughout the confectionary and dining room area, while the walls are painted a soft pink color. Wooden booths and comfortable looking stools are spread throughout the dining area and bar at the soda fountain.
Unfortunately for me, the dining area and soda fountain were still closed for the winter months, so I wasn't going to be getting ice cream today. I still wanted something sweet, so I talked with one of the employees at the confectionary counter about getting some truffles. She mentioned they had pre-packaged assortments of truffles available, so I opted for a pack of those. I paid for them shortly thereafter and left to start driving home.
The truffles were as I remembered them from Moline. Hard chocolate coating a richly flavored, soft interior. I had a few from the assortment during my drive and opted to save the majority to share at work or consume later in the weekend.
I'll be visiting again when the soda fountain is open and I can get some ice cream during warmer months. I definitely wished I'd stopped over to this Lagomarcino's before. It's the same great interior and sweets as Moline, but much closer to home. Thanks again, Lagomarcino's!
