Lagos Avenida (Lagos, Algarve) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The Algarve town of Lagos has some long, spectacular beaches, but one of its best hotels is set not on the sand but overlooking the marina. Lagos Avenida Hotel is, to be fair, just a few minutes’ walk from both the picturesque old town and the beach, and in its style it splits the difference between beachy resort chic and urban design-hotel cool. Balconies and terraces are universal, and the rooftop infinity pool, with its panoramic view over the marina, is a highlight; in addition to the poolside bar there’s a restaurant, also called Avenida, serving everything from breakfast to a very fine seafood-focused dinner." - Tablet Hotels

How is this hotel not ranked #1? After the overpriced closet we stayed at in Lisbon I was amazed at how large our room was. 2 balconies with 3 sliding doors. We had a side view room so we faced the side and back, which we found preferable to avoid looking at the cranes across the marina and it was quieter. We heard no noise with the doors closed on the top floor. Yes you have a view of the bus station as well but so what, look past it. We could see part of the marina and water as well as the entire back view. ||Beautiful beachy decor in the bright sunny room and lobby with light colored wood. Automatic push button shades blocked all light - a nice touch. Amazing free breakfast in a lovely setting with plenty of seats, good svc and both a la carte and buffet options. (Oatmeal with white chocolate and dates!) There is also a high end restaurant in the hotel for dinner but we didn’t eat there. ||My only suggestions would be put some privacy glass on the shower. As others have said it’s odd to have a shower just in the room with zero privacy. It would also be better to have 2 separate beds vs 2 mattresses on 1 wooden platform. If you’re not a couple you don’t want to sleep that close. :) Lastly, keeping the pool open past 7 pm would be a nice touch. ||We considered staying at Meia Praia but so glad we chose this. Extremely convenient to the bus station, old town, marina and boat tours (this was great considering we had to go to the blue fleet office more than once bc our tour was cancelled one day due to rough seas). Very pretty rooftop area with bar, heated pool, and lounge chairs/umbrellas with 360 view. ||I also want to single out the young woman with long, straight black hair who worked mornings. So friendly and helpful. Others were certainly nice but not as warm as she. So glad she was the one who checked us in!! And she was the most helpful with restaurant suggestions. (Unless you’re coming in winter, book popular restaurants before you arrive. We didn’t realize how busy things are.) So sad to leave!

This hotel was the best in aesthetics. Service was phenomenal with Isaza helping us drag our luggage in to the nice waiter at breakfast ❤️❤️❤️tall dark and handsome just forgot his name. Rooftop bar bartender was awesome making us the best passionfruit sangria!! Housekeeping very helpful too! I would stay here again . It was delightful!!

Our experience was so so. Great staff and we found the people to be kind and helpful. |The biggest draw back for us was parking. You need to go find parking in a strange city, then lug your bags to and from the hotel. We are parked about a block and a half away. Finding a parking spot was not easy. We wanted a balcony room overlooking the marina. The hotel sits across a busy street from the marina. |Lots of people walking by, cars, buses and motorcycles, etc. the cross walk was close to our room and beeps all day long when it turns green to let people cross. I wouldn’t waste your money on this type of room. The location is good close to shops and restaurants. |The pool area is small, the view is good and the pool is heated.

Had the most amazing stay at Lagos Avenida Hotel for a girls getaway trip. The hotel is newly updated and perfectly located across from the main entrance to the marina where all boat trips take off. Easy walk into main part of town for beaches, meals and shopping. The restaurant on site is perfect for a fancy dinner when you don't want to go out. The included breakfast is not to be missed—lovely selection of pastries etc, and made to order eggs and Prosecco! A special shout out to front desk star Patricia who helped us every day pick which beach to go and help make dinner reservations. She would do research for us and update us the next day. We would have been lost without her! If you can- upgrading to the water side views would be worth it. We had a city view which was nice, but would have spent more time on our balcony had we had water views. The roof pool and bar is perfect for late afternoon rest before heading out into town again. Will recommend to anyone I know visiting in the future!

Our Marina view room actually gave us a view of the road, traffic , pedestrian crossing which beeped all night and lots of people. Not quite the marina view we paid extra for. When I mentioned this to the hotel they said it’s ok the windows are sound proofed. I suspect they haven’t stayed in a room to experience the constant noise. Our phones would not connect to WiFi , even though we asked reception to help. We were told by ISA that her phone was fine and no one else had a problem. I found her attitude to be argumentative. The front desk lady let the whole team down. We were still waiting on the requested iron to be delivered when we left. Pool stairs are dangerously loose. Each problem we had we did speak to the hotel but it was not handled well.

Stayed here Sept 2025 for 2 nights. Room with no real view.|Breaking it down:|Location: right on the river/harbor, where the boats leave and at the edge of the fun tourist area. Excellent, and not too noisy. |Room: We had an accessible room. Not recommended. Funky shower and toilet area with no privacy. So can't judge the non-accessible friendly rooms|Staff-Not over the top and nothing negative to contribute. Just good overall. |Pool area: See pics. Great infinity pool which we did not use. Outdoor bar area had very nice views.

My wife and I are here on our anniversary. We first booked an airbnb type of hotel and it was too remote from everything and didn’t have a concierge so we were a bit panicked. Fortunately they gave a full refund and we immediately booked with Lagos Avenida Hotel and we couldn’t be happier! First we met Isa at the front desk and she couldn’t be sweeter and more accommodating with suggestions of places to eat and activities to do during our stay here in Lagos. She welcomed us with a sweet message and bottle of wine for our anniversary. The rooms are modern but super cozy and intelligently set up/the shower is awesome. The bed is SO comfortable. The location is perfect. The rooftop pool is so nice with views of the entire Avenida and water. And the breakfast is amazing too. Also in the hotel is a Michelin recognized restaurant that we haven’t yet tried but plan to…We couldn’t be more happy with the last minute decision we made and would HIGHLY recommend this hotel!!!

Yelp
Booked a few nights at this hotel but unfortunately missed the train to Lagos and had to cancel last minute. I'm writing this review solely based on the amazing customer service I experienced. When I called to cancel my stay the person who answered was extremely helpful and did the best she could to help me catch a different train and sort through the transportation issues I was having. Unfortunately I was still unable to make it to Lagos with the ability to make the most out of my short stay and ended up canceling. They were kind enough to waive any charges, despite me canceling very last minute. I truly hope I am able to travel to Lagos one day so I can fully experience this hotel.

Yelp
Kind of mixed on this hotel. Convenient location, clean and modern but awkwardly designed rooms. The shower/toilet area is on the other side of the bed from the sink. It's a novelty that soon became a minor annoyance for my wife and I, especially at night, when we were trying to minimize movement and noise. And with little room for luggage, they've managed to design bonus tripping hazards into the layout. The staff was polite but stiff, usually speaking in a corporate hush, although the young woman who checked us in projected normally in exquisite English. There was some nickel and diming and enforcement of petty rules. Drinks and snacks provided in the room turned out not to be complimentary as they were at other nice hotels in Portugal. Yet no price list was posted in the room, causing an unwelcome surprise at checkout. Another surprise: Our take-out meal in the lobby on a quiet holiday evening was interrupted by a request to eat in our rooms. There was no "for future reference" warning. We packed up our half-eaten dinner and took to our rooms, feeling like naughty children being disciplined. Later in our stay I asked if I could grab a quick glass of already opened champagne still on ice in the breakfast dining area and surely destined to be poured down the sink. But breakfast had ended so the answer was, well, you know.

Yelp
I called this dish 'cute' and they took it as a compliment. I think there were 3 kernels of corn in this ceviche. For the price point you can almost buy your own fishing trawler. Tasty, but not mind blowing.

Yelp
Nice new hotel in a fantastic location - ten minute walk from the train station and in front of the bus station. It fronts the bridge and local marina. They have a soft opening currently so everything is available except for an on-site restaurant that should be open later this Fall. The check in was fast, the common area on the main floor was modern and chic. Rooftop pool was amazing with fantastic views of the marina and beach! Great place to spend time when the weather is warmer. The rooms are a decent size for Europe and they have a large window along with balcony with a table and two chairs. The one main issue is with the shower and toilet - they are both surrounded by glass!!! The only privacy you get in your room is a curtain to pull across to form a "virtual" bathroom. Also no where to hang your wet towels!!! Great rate obtained - suspect it's because of the off-season.

Yelp
The hotel is located in the main avenue facing the river and the sea, is next to the transportation, only 10 min walking to the beach, 5 min from the city center Perfect !! The rooms are big and sunny ! the staff is very very helpful Very good ! Recommend
