The Best Bars, Cafés and Restaurants in Villeray, Montreal | Eater Montreal

"The legacy of defunct lahmajoun bakery Chez Apo lives on at this Villeray newcomer started by one of its former employees in the same locale. Expect the namesake tomatoey, beefy flatbreads, plus a bevy of house-made dips, sweets, and snacks." - Daniel Bromberg

The Best Lahmajoun in and Around Montreal | Eater Montreal

"Recently opened in the former site of Chez Apo, one of the city’s iconic Armenian bakeries, this bright spot a stone’s throw from Jarry Park features classic thin-crust lahmajoun and a range of flatbreads complemented by in-house dips and pastries. Check out mom’s kibbeh and the family favourite, ma’amoul: butter cookies stuffed with dried fruit." - Ivy Lerner-Frank

A New Family-Run Spot Brings Syrian, Lebanese, and Armenian Specialties to Villeray | Eater Montreal

"At 420 Faillon East, Lahmajoune Villeray occupies the former Chez Apo space and has quickly established itself as a destination for Syrian, Lebanese, and Armenian specialties; the bright premises, tiled in blue and white with a baby-blue logo, bustles Monday to Saturday as Hannan Senior works in the open kitchen producing round, thin lahmajoun topped with minced beef, onions, tomatoes, and a special secret spice mix. In addition to lahmajoun (priced $2 each, $10 for a half-dozen and $18 for a dozen), the bakery makes sfiha, triangular spinach pies, and slightly thicker flatbreads ($5 each) topped with spinach and feta, a three-cheese mix (halloumi, mozzarella, and feta), and “the Mediterranean” with Armenian sausage and cheese. Customers may see a mountain of purple eggplants waiting to be turned into eggplant salad and baba ghanoush, and the counter also offers homemade salads, dips, and cold dishes including muhammara, tabbouleh, lemony beans, tzatziki, hummus, turnip pickles, and warak enab. The family matriarch, Haramci Lahdo, makes these dishes and her signature kibbeh—hand-shaped “in the shape of a little football”—available traditional with bulgur and halal beef or vegan with chickpea, spinach, and lemon. Sweets include homemade cheesecake, macarons, and ma’amoul filled with nuts, pistachios, or dates, which Charbel says “melt in your mouth”; customers often head to nearby Jarry Park or home with Lahmajoune Villeray takeout bags. Open for takeout 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays." - Ivy Lerner-Frank

Lahmajoune in Villeray was excellent. The staff are super, super friendly and helpful, which immediately makes you feel welcome. I tried the classic lahmajoune and it was outstanding, very generous with the meat, and the mix of meat, tomatoes, onions, and spices was just wow. I also tasted the vegetarian kibbeh, which was really good, rich in flavors and perfectly made. The prices are very, very reasonable, which makes the experience even better. I definitely recommend this place! They also offer other great options like manakish (cheese, zaatar), baklava, and even pita bread mixed with zaatar. A wonderful spot to enjoy authentic flavors.

Small well managed shop, serving authentic Armenian Lahmajun. (Called Antabli style) I would give it 7.6 out of 10. But Excellent thin dough. Service is greate.

The Good: - Fair prices - Decent pastry options - Their minced meat flatbread (lahmajoune/lahm bajeen) is one of the best I had recently Things to Improve: - I would prefer if their pastries/flatbread were made to order instead of just warming them for you - The meat in the sfiha is barely tastable and the filling is too much. It would be better if they were smaller, less tomatoey, and if they put some pine nuts on top - I hope they will add a seating area or creat a little bistro

Cozy and warm! The guy in the front was extremely polite and down to earth. We were a bit late so lahmajoun was sold out but he suggested other options and they were so delicious. The cheese stick are a must try Edit: the photos are from my second visit , pure deliciousness

This place is amazing and delicious. The staff are kind and welcoming. The recommendations to try items are fantastic. The grape leaves!!! I’m still dreaming of them…. The pies. The cheese rolls. Everything was perfection. Highly recommend coming here. Only downfall is that there is no tables/seating.

What an amazing experience, the lahmajoun is super good, the veggie kibbeh is amazing took spinach pie it was good but I'm not a fan of thick dough. The family is so lovely and welcoming the dad and his smile is everything. I will definitely be going more often to try more stuff.
