The 38 Best Restaurants in Markham, Ontario | Eater

"The former chef and manager of the legendary Lahore Tikka House on Gerrard Street opened this spinoff, now a legend of its own. In addition to sizzling platters of beef kebabs and ghee-slicked naan, there are eight varieties of biryani. Oh, and always ask for a side of tandoori chilies — don’t worry, there’s plenty of lassi to go around to quell the burn. It’d be a mistake to leave without sampling the frothy Bangladeshi-style khandani chai, too. [$]" - Faiyaz Kara

Google
It's one of those days when you feel like trying some traditional Indian/Pakistani cuisine. Lahore Premium is a nice, clean, cozy restaurant situated on Middlefield Road in Markham. We tried the Kheema Mattar (Green Peas) and Kadai Gosht (Lamb) with Garlic Naans. They were finger licking 😋 good. The food was delicious, and the portions were fairly good for 2 people. The srvice was prompt and friendly. I'll definitely visit again in the near future.

I had an amazing meal at Lahore’s Premium Kabab House (2002 Middlefield Rd, Markham) I thoroughly enjoyed the Sizzling Beef Short Ribs and Sizzling Lamb Chops which came highly recommended by my associate Dr. Obaid. The Ribs were tender and flavorful, and the Lamb Chops were juicy and perfectly cooked. No doubt the meal exceeded expectations. Our server, Mr. Simran was nice and took great care of us. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent everything was just fabulous. I highly recommend this place and give it a 5-star rating. Must try if you love tremendous food and a welcoming atmosphere.

We had dinner at Lahore’s premium Kabab House. We ordered beef short ribs and karahi ghosh and tandoori naan. The ribs were perfectly cooked, soft, juicy and well seasoned. The karahi ghosh was also well cooked but not spicy, however, extra chillies were provided. The naan was also perfectly cooked. The staff were quick and efficient. The atmosphere was a bit dated but also gave a family style restaurant vibes. The restaurant is halal, has vegetarian options and also a kids menu. I would go again.

Google
Everything was 10/10 from The food service quality ambiance atmosphere I would give this restaurants Most improved award. I have been here when they first opened up and along the years I can say with every visit they get better and better. I don’t know if they can get any better they are 10/10 This is your sign to go visit them and thank me later.

Google
There is absolutely nothing good going for this place. It is in a rundown mall. The restaurant itself need refreshing up even the heating was broken and they had extra heaters running to heat up the place. We ordered nihari, beef kebab, chicken kebab and butter naans. Nihari was more like a korma, kebabs were also quite poor. Food 2/5 Service 3/5 Atmosphere 1/5 Overall 2/5 Avoid unless you have no other choice.

I had an incredible dining experience at Lahore Premium Kabab House! The food was absolutely delicious — every dish was bursting with authentic flavors. The kebabs were perfectly spiced and tender, and the naan was fresh and fluffy. The ambiance was welcoming, and the staff was friendly, attentive, and quick with service. You can tell they take pride in both their food and hospitality. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for top-quality Pakistani cuisine. I’ll definitely be coming back

Google
This restaurant is absolutely underrated!!! This is one of the best place in Toronto to eat Kabobs!!! Their quality of Naan is unmatched. The Owner and servers are very friendly. To some of the first time visitors the ambience may not look so great, but the quality of food is much more greater than the ambience. Yes, don’t forget to taste their home made Khoya Kulfi!!!

Google
Visited Lahore’s premium kabab house . I have ordered Lamb Biryani, Chicken Karahi, Sweet Lassi, Till Tanduri Naan and Tanduri Naan. For taste overall it was good but i am surprised that Lamb Biryani was made on Tawa ( pan) , they haven’t mention in menu that lamb biryani will be made on Tawa because some rice were roasted. Had a crunchy taste which is not eatable and biryani was too oily. I would recommend the chef to watch a Youtube video how to make authentic lamb biryani. Moreover chicken karahi had only breast pieces. I was wondering where the chicken legs gone? So if they serving half chicken as a chicken karahi at least add chicken leg or a thigh piece. I love to eat desi food and this place is for desi food . Taste is good but need improvements.

Yelp
Wow what a disappointment. Honestly feel robbed after having a dinner here. I ordered a bunch of items to try with the family and boy was it underwhelming. The biryani's and chicken tikka were the saviours here but to be served the rest of the items has to be a joke. The small quantity of meat and curry from the dishes was ridiculous. Each dish ranged from $15-20 and paying $20 for a singular piece of meat with no flavour is a complete robbery. Each dish was pretty much finished after we had a small sample of it. Being known as a kebab house you'd think the grilled meats would be flavourful and juicy but the kebabs were dry and lacked in seasoning. The Karahi gosht was a single piece of meat with a thick layer of oil resting on top. The curry itself lacked in flavour and we almost vomitted when trying it. I love trying new restaurants with the family and supporting local businesses but you need to avoid this place at all costs. 1/5

Yelp
This is where the locals eat! Nice staff, and a full house around 7pm, the food is great. Sizzling hot kebabs, super soft naan and spicy butter chicken and biryani with a generous portion of lamb.

Yelp
Excellent authentic pakistani restaurant. We did not have to make reservations and were seated right away. The food was great. It was fresh and flavorful. The service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is similar to standard pakistani restaurants.

Yelp
I dined at this establishment after reading the positive reviews that people gave it on google. I was alone and the server who seated me already seemed a little disappointed that I was dining solo. All I ordered was the Karahi Gosht and two Tandoori Naans. The food was served with complimentary yogurt mixed with jeera (cumin) seeds. Unfortunately, this yogurt seemed spoilt, and it had also been watered down too much with too much salt added to it. Although the lamb in the Karahi Gosht tasted okay, some pieces were boney with thick blobs of fat. The naans were really thin but fluffy. The food portions were just about average and definitely overpriced for the quantity that you get. I thought about adding a tip but found that they had already charged me a 10% service fee. They should have communicated this to me in advance, and I would urge anyone to check their bill thoroughly. Still, I paid almost $30 for my simple meal. The restaurant had a nice ambiance with Bollywood music playing in the background. The place was busy and quite noisy at times. The washrooms were clean (even had a urinal for men), but the female server whom I asked to direct me to them was really cold and unfriendly. I would not recommend this place to anyone because there are better options for Pakistani food out there with more reasonable prices.

Yelp
I haven't done many reviews for a few years prior Pandemic. Today I felt the temptation for spicy Pakistani food. So I dropped in at Lahore's Premium Kabob House and ordered Lamb Biryani. As usual I was warmly greeted by the owner, a respectable gentleman, (as is his custom whenever he is available, he greets the patrons of his restaurant). I am somewhat compelled to write these few narrative in praise of this fine gentleman's restaurant, the delicious food and fine service rendered, to let others know that there's a restaurant that caters to the guests with proper treatment and with a hospitable and friendly disposition with awesome food as a bonus. Unlike most restaurants, after many years the quality and taste of the food from Lahore's Premium Kabob remains unchanged. If you haven't yet been lucky enough to sample the offerings from Lahore's Premium Kabob restaurant, I can without reservation say..you are missing out.

Yelp
Owners are the former chef and manager of the well known Lahore Tikka House (LTH) on Gerrard. I was hoping to find a place closer to home with great Pakistani cuisine and at a more reasonable cost than LTH. I found the gem I was looking for ! Owners were so lovely and pleasant and came over for a chat. Excellent service with a few different staff checking on us throughout our stay. We had: - fish biryani 5/5 -palaak paneer 5/5 (did not skimp on the paneer) -beef kabobs 5/5 -chicken tikka rice sizzler 5/5 - regular and garlic naan (both 5/5) fresh and tasty. Generous with the butter and garlic, yum. -salad ( on the house) 1/5. I do not like iceberg and this salad is an unnecessary filler. A simple salad of just cucumber and tomatoes would be better. We will definitely be back. Service , taste and price cannot be beat. I found that LTH on Gerrard were cutting corners with rising costs ($18.99 for fish biryani, are they crazy !??) and increasingly oily curries. Here at Lahore Premium Kabob you will eat like royalty and not have to break the bank to do so. Love it and will be back with the entire family once again !

Yelp
I had arranged to meet a friend and fellow foodie, Raj N., for dinner. We often try to explore and discover new places to eat. On this occasion, I was browsing through this area on Google Maps when I came across Lahore's Premium Kabab House, close to my old neighbourhood. Off we went. Being our first time here, we ordered dishes that we're familiar with so we could compare to similar restaurants - Boneless Chicken Tikka Biryani, Butter Naan, and Butter Chicken. We also ordered the Lahori Beek Kabab, Sweet Lassi, Gulab Jamun (dessert), and extra chillies on the side. The first dish to arrive was a small plate of lettuce, onions, and carrots, with a couple of portion cups with sauces. It wasn't really a composed salad. DIY garnish? The rest of the food arrived shorlty after and looked really good. They were all served on hot cast iron plates sitting on wooden blocks. The beef kababs were still sizzling. Presentation was nice but not very practical. The rice was piled up high on the shallow vessel and spilled as soon as we dug in. The sauce from the butter chicken also spilled because it was filled to the brim. Nitpicking aside, the food tasted delicious! The biryani rice was flavourful and fluffy, with generous amounts of tikka chicken throughout. The butter chicken was rich with flavour without being too spicy. The beef kababs were nicely seasoned and cooked. The freshly made naan were huge (we couldn't finish it) and had the right texture. The extra chillies were grilled and seasoned. Nice. Unfortunately, the service didn't match the quality of the food. I'll give our server marks for effort but he was clearly inexperienced and didn't understand everything we said (language barrier?). When we were seated, he placed a pitcher of water, glasses, plates and cutlery, on the table in a pile. Not an uncommon practice at small restaurants. One of the glasses, however, was dirty and the replacement glass was also dirty. There were times when it seemed like he didn't understand what we were asking for, such as asking about dessert and asking for the bill. It may seem like more nitpicking but it affects the overall experience. We were the last diners to leave and met the owner on our way out. We chatted for a while and he seems like a nice guy. He recommended we try the beef short ribs next time. Yes, there probably will be a next time. Food: 4 / Service: 2

Yelp
I've been here twice now and I was blown away!! One of the best butter chickens I've ever had, garlic naan is amazing. Food comes out sizzling hot, beef kabobs are delicious at $2.65 each. All the bbq sizzlers come out with onions and green chilies that get caramelized throughout dinner. Service is excellent even though English is a bit difficult for some of the staff. Decor isn't all that but the level of authenticity makes up for it big time. Relatively the prices are a bit higher than your average biryani joint but, like i said: Food is above average. I do agree their pricing structure is a bit off. A small portion of butter chicken (like 5 small pieces of meat in gravy) is expensive ($13.99) but a larger sizzling plate of 6 beef short ribs and potatoes is $2 more ($15.99). Best dishes: fried bogo appetizer (cassava served like fries with chaat spice, ask for ketchup), butter chicken, beef kabobs, beef ribs with potatoes, garlic naan, gulab jamun, any biryani! Things I didn't like: chai tea tasted like hot cream l, Kheema wasn't all that

Yelp
The #8 tikka beef is out of this World good wow ! Tender juicy and tasty beef Side order of garlic naan doesn't get any better than this. Highly Recommended

Yelp
i purchased a gift card on a Friday for a family to order a takeout to break their fast. When they tried to pay using the gift card on the Monday, they said it was expired! Fortunately, I had also given the receipt to the family, and Guess What?? the card was no longer expired. They apologized, but i am embarrassed that they would try and pull an old trick like this! I would not recommend buying their gift cards and just give cash as gifts. Their food is good, but this was a joke!

Yelp
This was a great place to go to! We are from the downtown area and we love Lahore Tikka House at Gerrard Street. Since we were in the area, the food was spot on! It tasted just like Lahore Tikka House and maybe even better! It was all takeout right now, and we had the lamb biryani where they gave a generous amount of meat to rice ratio. The highlighting value of this was that it was not oily at all! The Lamb kebabs were very good as well, but they only sold them in 2! We got Coke and a Mango Lassi which all turned out to be $35, what a steal! We are definitely going to go back and try some of their other dishes! I can't wait to try the Chicken Korma!
google avatar

Yelp
I always get the Large beef kebab wrap. 3 skewers of well flavored juicy kebabs in a humongous tandoor made naan. Everything is fresh and flavorful. $10 and you are stuffed. Tastes really good!

Yelp
I come to Toronto from the US regularly so am familiar with the halal food scene. This place was amazing!!! Beef Kabobs, Lamb Chops, Chicken Tandoori, Biryani, and Naan all were on point. Fresh, tasty, cooked to perfection. Service was superb. Will come back definitely next time I am in town.
google avatar

Sakina I.

Yelp
2* for the beef kebabs. My personal taste is for a more tender and soft texture, and a different colour and spicing. 5* for the boneless chicken tikka. 4* for the haleem. It was very satisfying. 4* for the naan. 3* for the phone take out order experience 4* for the food order being ready to pick up when promised. 4* for friendly and efficient service on a later visit.

Yelp
This place has great portions and the food's very flavourful as well. I love spicy food and the food here has the right amount of spice for my liking. The reason why I'm hesitant to visit again in the future is because there is just SO much oil in their food, as you can tell from one of the pictures I've attached. Now I don't expect to be a health junk when I'm eating out, but being able to visualize how much oil I'm actually consuming from these dishes was quite nasty. Every table was served a side of complementary salad that had mostly raw onions, which was definitely 1/5 for me. Otherwise, the chicken biryani was spicy and delicious, the mixed veggie platter went well with the naan, and there was plenty of lamb in the gosht we ordered.

Yelp
We have been here twice now. I love Indian food and was introduced to this place several months ago and was really impressed. It has a clean & simple ambience. The service is very good, very pleasant, and the manager/owner takes the time to check in and see how you are enjoying your meal. I did not grow up eating Indian food, I grew up in a very traditional UK home with typically bland and boiled food so I can't speak to authenticity, but the flavours and textures of the beef & chicken kebabs and the chicken tikka was delicious. We also had the combo sizzling vegetable platter which included Palak, Chana Masala, Aloo Gobi & Tarka Dal. I enjoyed this platter very much, the only thing I could have wished for was that they separated the four choices better so that I could taste them more individually, they were blended together the way it was dished out. The vegetable samosas were fantastic, a nice crunchy skin and a really flavourful filling. The naan was also really good, nice and big. I had dinner with my husband and as always we ordered too much, we could have used two extra people to help us finish, and we are good eaters! Our bill only came to $45 (inc. tax). Really worth a visit.

Yelp
So full warning the service isn't ever the greatest but the food is excellent and we will continue to go back! We prefer to grab take away. Kebabs are delicious but the biryani is what we keeps us coming back. One of the best we've ever had. The price point is also great and likely why the lack in service makes it ok.
google avatar

Nikhil M.

Yelp
Bruh this place is soooooo goood , you think it's gonna be whack walking in but to be honest some of the best paki/Indian food in Scarborough Markham region . JHEEZZZ reaching here again for sure fam!!! 2 THUMBS UP!

Yelp
AMAZING! Excellent place to enjoy a nice meal. Clean inside and delicious food. The owner is very very kind, and gave us free mango shakes to try! Definitely recommend coming here for a nice bite

Luis C.

Yelp
Great find! Food was incredible. And the best butter naan I've ever had! Excellent level of spice in all the kabobs. Tried the lamb, chicken and beef! Staff was very friendly and seating outside was a great. A must when you're in the area!
google avatar

Yelp
Ok I have to start with the customer service because they are so nice here! Once, I called in 10 minutes before closing to confirm if it's ok to order on uber eats & the cashier said he'll drop it off for free because I live right around the corner. This was around new years last year and the order was massive! He also added extra meats in items that would come with 4 pieces because he knew the order was for 5 people, how sweet?! Now, the food, so goooooood! You can't go wrong with like anything lol. I've tried the chicken biryani, chicken tikka biryani, butter chicken, fish masala, short ribs, lamb masala, garlic naan (my dad buys this like every week lol), chicken karahi, lamb karahi, lamb kebab and lamb kebabs wraps. Recommend it all and have never been disappointed. Yum, keep being great guys!

Yelp
I always look forward to eating at this gem by my house. Great food and great service.

Yelp
Visited first time but regrets........ Why didn,t we came before. Very very nice food. Best steaks in town .excellent service. Friendly staff. Nusrat Malik
google avatar

Tanveer K.

Yelp
Price is definetly not worth it to really small portion s and extremely slow service I will never come back here again

Onto L.

Yelp
I regularly order Butter Chicken and Briyani from here, as well as their naans. I've also had some kebabs from here. All to say, every time was consistently delicious, fresh, and the service was prompt. Tastes very authentic and spicy. I will keep coming back.
google avatar

G. P.

Yelp
A tasty dish and fulfilled my appetite. An order of naan bread was a good complement to the rice.

Saad B.

Yelp
The food was decent but was totally drenched in oil. Off putting presentation, ordered tarka dal and qeema matter, both were swimming in oil. Have to remove the oil to be able to eat.
google avatar

Delwin C.

Yelp
The place lacks ambiance, food is average, there are many places like this. Their preparation time is not bad and quantity of decent. For the quality of food, price is not as much as well. It's ok to go with a couple of friends but it's not a very authentic family restaurant.
google avatar

Mohamed M.

Yelp
Great ribs, fried mogo and wraps. Been here several times....almost perfect every time.

Anumta S.

Yelp
We were coming back from Montreal and had to travel 3 more hours. We had called in 10 mins before closing and the guy at the till said they would wait for us. When we placed the order, the food was ready in 15 mintues and the guy gave us dessert and drinks for the road. Amazing customer service
google avatar

Irfan K.

Yelp
Came to this place after landing into Toronto pretty late and staying in the Markham area. Overall the food tastes on the above average, but the price is high and quantity is very minimal.
google avatar

Rakshit K.

Yelp
Worst experience ever. In bussy hours only one person in the front and front staff dont know how to speak with customer and employee. He yelled because the order taker took my order before someone else. I wont recommend to anyone!!

Zara A.

Yelp
Some of the employees of Lahore Tilkka House on Gerard have opened it up, excellent kabab just like their former employers place, curries need working still, we went with their last night, ordered Haleem which was pretty brutal no meat in it seemed like a combo between channa daal and some nihari soup The boys should work hard and pay attention otherwise success could be limited

John W.

Yelp
The food was so good. The prices are reasonable and staff are really friendly. Real Pakistani food in Scarborough/Markham area. The dining area is not fancy, with booth and table seating. They have take-out option also available. I would recommend this place to anyone who has a craving for real Pakistani food.

Anikendu P.

Yelp
I often do take out from this place. Usually I get their kababs, biriyani and karahi chicken and gosht. I really like all of their kababs. The karahi dishes have lot of oil but I guess that's how it is normally made (authentic way). So no complains, when I order those I know I will be getting a dish full of oil and rich and flavorful curry with chicken/lamb! The biriyani is not so spicy but have a real nice taste to it, which I like. I also like the way they give fried chilli and a small packet of salad with every order.

Muhammed J.

Yelp
Food was good but the price is on the medium high side. We had the large sandwiches and they are bigger than we expected. The place is not the most modern but the staff seemed friendly even though our service wasn't the fastest. If you plan to order takeout make sure to order in advance!

James E.

Yelp
Tasty food at a very reasonable price, along with proper portion, service is accurate and fast
