This little hole-in-the-strip-mall turned out to be surprisingly tasty. The vegetable egg rolls seemed quite home-made, with a hearty, cinnamon-bias and crunchy cabbage.
We ordered Beijing Chicken and Sai Dai Pork, as neither of us were familiar with these dishes. The pork was particularly enjoyable, with a smoky grill flavor, a gooey brown sauce and a good spice kick. I don't like it when Chinese food is drenched in oily, generic, too-sweet, runny brown sauce. This sauce was none of those things.
The chicken was more familiar, bearing strong similarity to sweet and sour chicken. However, it had a significantly stronger spice kick and was more sour than sweet. It was definitely not stingy with the onions, green peppers and pineapples, like many typical S&S chicken dishes.
We ate in, and the decor did not initially inspire confidence, however I recommend you don't judge this book by the cover and try them out if you're in the area.
The only reason it's down a star is the lack of ambience, as others have reported. Service was fine, a little curt, from a Chinese-born dude in his 30's, and we were the only people dining in.
