Laiwah Chinese restaurant

Everything missed. The wontons look like a spoon full of cream cheese and just twisted in the middle by some type of thumb and pointer finger grab and twist. Photo attached to show what I received. Looking back at older reviews they look like you'd expect. Weird short cuts like that are also reflected in the taste of the food. The fried rice lacks flavor and the lomein noodles are angel hair. The chicken has a weird consistency. What is going on?! Also attached a photo of the inside of the wonton which separated oddly and was not creamy. This place is probably due for an audit.

We've been buying here for 30 years, but last year and then this week will be our last times. Sesame chicken dried out and hard with little sauce, sour soup was thick with a strange aftertaste, fried rice marginal. Time to go elsewhere.

They offer nice standard A little American style Chinese food. It is good! Specially the tofu desert is amazing! I will like to go there just for that! Keep the Chinese food in a Chinese style is important.

i ordered chow mein expecting noodles and i was given chicken and celery in a pool sauce with a package of crispy chow mein snack pieces. and on the website it says the meal is $8.75 when in actuality it is $11.50, $12.32 with tax. the wontons were also overcooked and chicken was bland, not even a trace of salt at the minimum. i would give negative stars if i could.

Only 2 tables, but that's OK, cause nobody there. My happy family was sad and like brown water. Very salty, very chewy. Ordered fried rice, but they said I can't have it. I said it's ok, $1 extra. I got white rice. I need water quick!

I ordered chicken lomein, wonton soup and egg rolls. I was shocked when I went to pick it up and it was $31.00! The "lomein" was angel hair pasta. The soup tasted like dirty water and was $12.00! And the egg rolls were all crunch and not much filling. I will never order from here again. East China was closed today so I tried this place. I'll stay with East China...they are reasonably priced and great food. Laiwah was just awful.

I have never had a bad meal here. I work in the strip mall where they are located and I love the chicken fried rice, especially, and have also had several other options from the menu. Always fresh tasting and reasonably priced. I love the convenience to my office, as well. I eat here at least once every couple of weeks.

I used to enjoy my local Asian take out spot. Now I never know what I'm going to get. The Sweet and sour chicken did not have pineapple or green peppers in it, the sauce came on the side. The lo mein also didn't have a single vegetable.

The take out order was wrong. They left out the fried rice. Also, the egg drop soup smelled like mildew. The cashew chicken was decent tho. Overall, just a below average experience.

This place has been an Apple Valley fixture for a very long time. They started as a full service restaurant at the SW corner of Cty Rd 42 & Cedar, and move to the present location at 140th & Pilot Knob Road more than 25 years ago. Not currently offering inside dining, but if you are looking for the best Asian take out food in the South Metro area, this is the place to go.

I created a yelp account to warn everyone that instead of beef, they're serving the people of Apple Valley raw slices of Hillary Clinton's box in their chow mein. Soaked through the bottom of the container before I even got home to the disappointment.

Ordered takeout tonight, pad Thai, cashew chicken, cream cheese puffs. All very good! First time ordered, and was pleasantly surprised. Definitely will be a returning customer!

Ordered 3 weeks ago no problem. Ordered Friday night & did not have their new menu that just came out. It was 8.00 more than last menu. All she said was we changed our menu! Big price increase !

We really enjoy the food from Lai Wah, but in a delivery order two nights ago. They forgot to send us the sauce for the egg foo yung. And that's the best part! I faked it with some packet mushroom gravy I found in the cupboard, but it just wasn't the same.

If we could give it a zero we would. As avid Chinese lovers we love the opportunity to try new places. Unfortunately this has to be one of the worst places south of the river. Not only were we missing itema, got wrong items, but we also found metal shavings in our food from a wire scrub brush which makes sense with the soapy taste. I also tried their try 3 apps, egg rolls, chicken wings, and cheese wontons... and all where over fried and unable to get to the inside contents. Even my 3yr old didn't want to eat the cheese inside the wontons after peeling away 3 layers of over fried dough.

The foods are just like the name Happy. The best Chinese foods that I ever had. Reasonable price and foods are fantastic delicious. I highly recommended everyone in the neighbors come here for the Chinese foods. You won't disappoint at all.

This little hole-in-the-strip-mall turned out to be surprisingly tasty. The vegetable egg rolls seemed quite home-made, with a hearty, cinnamon-bias and crunchy cabbage. We ordered Beijing Chicken and Sai Dai Pork, as neither of us were familiar with these dishes. The pork was particularly enjoyable, with a smoky grill flavor, a gooey brown sauce and a good spice kick. I don't like it when Chinese food is drenched in oily, generic, too-sweet, runny brown sauce. This sauce was none of those things. The chicken was more familiar, bearing strong similarity to sweet and sour chicken. However, it had a significantly stronger spice kick and was more sour than sweet. It was definitely not stingy with the onions, green peppers and pineapples, like many typical S&S chicken dishes. We ate in, and the decor did not initially inspire confidence, however I recommend you don't judge this book by the cover and try them out if you're in the area. The only reason it's down a star is the lack of ambience, as others have reported. Service was fine, a little curt, from a Chinese-born dude in his 30's, and we were the only people dining in.

Got it for delivery for a group of 7. Food was fast and great! Nothing to complain about on my end.

So we ordered from grub hub at first 30-40 minutes for a delivery that turned into 90 minutes. I'm not sure if they've changed spices or ingredients but the food we got was gross, this was the last chance I just thought someone screwed up last time but we won't be ordering from Lai Wah again. Btw when you order on grub hub they up the charges and give you less food that's not how they do business won't be going back

Wow was this gross. We ordered orange chicken, moo goo gai pan/ fried rice combo dinner, egg drop soup, dumplings... $31. First off, moo goo gai pan is supposed to be in a white sauce. They did it in brown teriyaki. Did they just not want to make the sauce? The chicken was dehydrated, the veggies frozen, they put canned mushrooms in the soup. Just a big ole NO!!! Don't go there. Go to Simplee Pho instead down 150th and Galaxie. They do both Vietnamese and Chinese (American style). It's better than this mess.

The sesame chicken was delicious. We ate there and it came out fast and the batter was still crispy. The veggie lo mein had a good flavor but the noodles were ramen noodles and it tasted like they used the ramen flavor packet, added veggies and soy sauce, then cooked it in a wok together...not what I expected from an authentic looking restaurant. I will go back and get the sesame chicken again but will try something else. I would also take it to go since the inside is much smaller than I thought it would be with only 3 tables and I believe they may have only had water to drink. If they have other beverages we were not asked or offered anything else. Still, the sesame chicken is the best I have found in the area so far.

I haven't had Lai Wah in over 20 years and I remember it to be very good and I was craving Chinese so I gave it a try and was so disappointed! Nothing had any flavor except the sauce that came with the potstickers. The egg roll was over-cooked and so dry. The fried rice and chow mein tasteless. So.........never again! Stay away, what a waste of my money. I thought I would support the small businesses during this hard time but I will go elsewhere next time.

Just bought a chicken broccoli. The best chicken broccoli ever, it not too oily or salty. Just perfect like the way I like it. This will be my must come for lunch place . Yummy

lai wah is the best (chinese restaurant) in apple valley, i love the pot sticker (dumpling), they are made it by hands there isnt any place still made it by hands. also the curry chicken fried rice isnt bad at all and they have tradition chow mein. my mom loves the chow mein with the egg foo young . i would try it again in future. overall, not too bad. there is a reason why i give them 4 stars , i dont know why they only open 4pm-8pm on sunday ??

Worst pad Thai I've ever had. Don't order, it's gross. Greasy and soggy and lacks any flavor that resembles this amazing dish. Wow, what a disappointment

Food is delicious，i like Mix Veg ，sweet &sour chicken and sesame chicken. That's a very reasonable price.Good service.

So much wanted this place to be good to shut up the people that left bad reviews, but they were right , it's terrible. Sweet and sour pork was just breading with maybe a piece of bacon in it, the egg roll was an inch long, and the rice was frozen fried rice from Costco.

Lai Wah is the best Chinese restaurant in Apple Valley, Eagan, Rosemount, IGH, Lakeville, Farmington, etc., etc... So many times my wife and I have tried other Chinese restaurants to be greatly disappointed. Places like Eddie Change pop up and serve yellow, bright yellow fried rice that taste identical to something out of a box, like Uncle Ben's or something like that. Law Wah is classic. The owners are from China! I highly recommend the Chicken Lo Mein, Sesama Chicken (it's awesome) and any of their fried rice. They can be somewhat slightly inconsistent, except when the dad/father is cooking. He's a master! So if you're near this Chinese restaurant, do NOT hesitate to give them a shot. On a personality level, it's just OK, but the food makes up for it.

Just got take out - oyster sauce and broccoli, kung pao chicken and rice noodles w/chicken. The food was mediocre, nothing particularly flavorful or exciting. Plus the service was pretty rude and not very cheap. We won't go back.

Pretty good. Just average. I did like the sweet and sour, though. I like Panda Express better, but sometimes ya wanna sit down and be waited on, you know? It's such a trek to Fong's, but right now the drive is worth it.

We've been patronizing Laiwah for over 20 years. However, lately it would seem the younger generation has taken over the restaurant. It's evidenced by the use of Uber Eats, GrubHub delivery options. The food used to be packaged in the white Chinese boxes or paper pails and orders were packed in a simple brown paper bag. There seemed to be some quality but now there's none. Orders are now put in plastic containers and wrapped in a plastic bag. On our order the chicken wings were burned, small and tasteless. Additionally, two orders of chicken fried rice, chicken lo mein and egg rolls came to near $50. When you walk in there's a table indicating due to Covid19 there's a price increase of 15%; something they don't tell you over the phone. We patronize other food places in the Apple Valley, Burnsville, Eagan area and none of them have increased their prices like this during the pandemic. This was our last time ordering food from Laiwah.

Not impressed. Maybe it was because it was take out, maybe it was a off night, but overall it was not worth it. We had the beef lo mein which was flavorless and lacked depth of other lo mein dishes, the sesame chicken which was tough and didn't have that distinct crisp fried coating and tender chicken with that sweet robust sauce, and the beef and broccoli which was soggy and overcooked. I'd try other places before going back.

Pretty good food for the price. The woman I usually order from can be a little abrupt and she doesn't like you using credit cards for small orders, but I kind of like the way she answers the phone with "Lai Wai, what you want?" The food quality is consistent. I wouldn't recommend eating in. Can be warm in the summer and not really sure why they have a dining room. I rarely have seen anyone eat in, but see lots of food going out. Located in a strip mall in the burbs.

Very decent chinese restaurant, the food and service are really good !
