The 19 Best Haitian Restaurants In Miami - Miami - The Infatuation

"Lakay Food Spot was already making some of Miami’s best crispy akra, griot, and fried goat when they were in a food truck. But their hefty platters of Haitian dishes are a notch more enjoyable now that they’ve got their own space in North Miami. There are a few tables inside, but you want to be sitting in the back patio. It’s got string lights, shade from a tree, and enough room for a DJ, who occasionally plays in the backyard on weekends. Come with friends and order one of the platters, like the ayibobo, which comes with a shiny pile of fried meats, spicy pikliz, and banan peze." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino, carlos c olaechea

I recently visited LaKay Food Spot with coworkers, drawn in by the appealing pictures online. However, our experience was a letdown from the start. When I called ahead, the staff couldn't tell me what was on the menu, which was a red flag. Upon arrival, we struggled to find parking, having to park across the street. Inside, there was no host to greet us, and the menu was limited. Although the food is made fresh, the wait was long, and the atmosphere was chaotic. My coworker nearly slipped on the slick floor, and our table was dirty. To make matters worse, we witnessed a loud argument between employees, which wasn't exactly subtle. When our food arrived, the presentation was impressive, but the portions were small, and the prices were steep. Unfortunately, my meatballs were undercooked, and I was charged extra for a side of pikliz. For $53, we expected more food and better service. The attitude from the staff didn't help. Needless to say, we won't be returning. Perhaps the owners can work on improving their customer service, ambiance, and food quality to match the appealing pictures online.

The location and atmosphere are so serene. A beautiful spin on “hole in the wall”. The food is always fresh and grilled/cooked to perfection! Amazing representation of Haitian food. I recommend it to anyone both in and out of town!

Google
Horrible customer service . I order their $8 Akra and I was so shock my the amount of oil that was in my food. It’s like they purposely was trying to give me a heart attack with all the oil that was left on the Akra. Even with squeezing the excess oil with paper towels, it still do no justice . I do not recommend this place at all

Google
They didn't even let the oil dry off my Arka. My whole Akra was drench with oil. Never again.

I came here seeking some delicious, authentic Haitian food. Lakay did not miss. The food was hot, well seasoned and delicious. I waited about 20 minutes for my food and just vibed. It felt like I was in someone’s backyard (in a good way). The waiter was so hospitable. This is definitely my go to place from now on.

This is my first experience here ever. The woman here I spoke with is a lighter skin Haitian woman. She was making food and taking orders at the same time. She was so rude and has horrible customer service. Every time I ask her about something on the menu she kept saying give me a minute and didn't come back to speak with me. The service was so bad to the point I left without even getting to try it. If you want to waste your time here for food with horrible service then this is the place for you.

Yelp
Food is great, just like home cooking. Authentic at its core...the kabrit, griot, and fish are excellent

Yelp
My new favorite Haitian spot in Miami! Definitely perfect for a late night run and food grab. I have ordered the Tassot Turkey and Kabrit (Fried Goat) which are both super delicious and juicy. The meat falls straight off the bone, and every plate comes with rice and an order of fried green plantain. Pikliz was also very fresh and not too spicy, for the non-spicy foodies. The wait is short, under 20 minutes, and the outdoor area is a cute waiting spot with greenery and patio furniture. This is a food truck spot, but they do a very great job at making it inviting to customers and locals. Definitely add this to the list!

Yelp
This was such a VIBE on a Saturday night. The string lights, the Haitian music, and excellent service were all a win in my book. With seating surrounding the truck there was plenty of room for our group of 5 to sprawl out. We brought games and beverages and enjoyed. Now, the FOOD! we ordered ribs and lanbi (grilled conch) and no crumbs were left! It was so good. It came with fried plantains (banan) and pikliz (Haitian spicy slaw) It was the perfect low key chill spot. Great food and vibes and great company too

Yelp
3 stars bc they served me ice cold rice, other than that the griot was good the plantains were okay could've been crispier, I'll be back to try again

Yelp
If I could give 0 stars I would. Terrible service, never going back, and you should never go here if you aren't hatian they have favoritism and literally gave our food to Haitians who came after us. We got there and ordered 2 plates, were told it was going to be 5 minutes, 30 minutes later when I asked how much longer, apparently they had no more chicken even though they were serving the hatian people that came after us. When I complained they finally gave us 1 plate instead of 2 because they said they had no more chicken. Then charged us full price for a plate of food and it didn't even come with rice like it was supposed to.

Yelp
Great customer service, the fish was fresh and very flavorful. During my stay in Hallandale Beach I ordered 3 times , the fish were excellent rice and all. Je reviendrai E! Jude
