"This North Miami food truck is more than just a place to grab a styrofoam box full of food to take home. Lakay has an astroturf patio where you can spend some time under an umbrella eating akra with visible chunks of peppers in each bite. The menu is as large as what you’d find at a brick-and-mortar restaurant where everyone in the kitchen moves at 65 miles per hour. But don’t let the smells of the smoker fool you, the best things here are fried. So prioritize dishes that spent time sizzling in oil like griot, fried goat, pate kòde, and those crispy akra. " - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino, carlos c olaechea

Late night pick up order Ordered griot platter. Once I received my food there was no rice. I asked why I wasn’t told that prior to my food being prepared since it wasn’t ready even after coming 20 mins later. Nothing but looks of bewilderment . I asked for a refund… the waitress rudely walked. Eventually I was told by the cook there was no refund available. Unprofessional. Just making the money. Doesn’t care about the customer especially If you’re not Haitian. This is my second time having an issue. I came from an entirely different county to patronize only to be disappointed and get attitude.

To begin with, the service was terrible. I visited the restaurant based on its Google ratings, which seemed quite favorable. I felt as if my status as a non-Haitian made me unimportant, which is understandable given that it is a Haitian restaurant. However, when I attempted to pay, they intentionally tried to overcharge me, as if they thought I wouldn’t notice, while the person at the register maneuvered the payment machine in a way that suited him. Just messed up as a hard working human being. MANAGERS DID NOTHING. Foo was good though.

Stopped by for a late nite NYE cuisine! Lakay did not disappoint! I really enjoyed this meal! The spices were excellent! Rice and beans were excellent!

The food was amazing! The customer service was great. Our food did take a while to come but it was Friday and we didn’t have anywhere to be so it wasn’t a huge issue. I’ll def be back!

If I could give zero stars, I would. I arrived around 11pm and didn’t receive my food until after 1 am. The menu clearly advertises meals with meat, plantains, and rice—but when my food finally came, I was told they ran out of rice and still charged me the full price. No heads-up, no apology, nothing. As for the hookah, that was another nightmare. You pay upfront, then you’re left waiting over 40 minutes for it. The whole experience was frustrating and disappointing. This place has potential if they improve their customer service.

Shazam!!!!! On a late Sunday night when every Haitian food spot is closed, Lakay was my saving grace. It was an unexpected find down Dixie Hwy...A food truck next to a car wash. The food was amazing. Everything was well seasoned, juicy, and well portioned. The patties were served with meat gravy at the bottom. Yum!!!!!! The chicken? Oh my God!!!!😋😋 The bullet? What the heck? Seriously, what are you guys doing in that kitchen? It was moist, juicy, and just pure deliciousness. The tassot kabrit(goat)? I'm done. Just finger licking good. The meat was so suculent I forgot I was eating goat. Seroisly, just do yourself a favor and go try the food. You will be in for an experience. You can taste the passion and love in every morsel. Enjoy!!!!🙂😎 By the way, great customer service.

Poor service, the people are extremely rude. I ordered something in DoorDash from them. The dasher waited for 1hr straight before they finally give the food. I call them they left me waiting on the phone. I can hear them talking on the back. They never said anything to me till I hung up. Not a place to buy from they do not k know how to run a business.

Best new Haitian restaurant right now, the food not too salty it’s just right. Food is very fresh and the accept debit or credit cuz most Haitian restaurants don’t . They can have all my money. I love it

Yelp
Food is great, just like home cooking. Authentic at its core...the kabrit, griot, and fish are excellent

Yelp
My new favorite Haitian spot in Miami! Definitely perfect for a late night run and food grab. I have ordered the Tassot Turkey and Kabrit (Fried Goat) which are both super delicious and juicy. The meat falls straight off the bone, and every plate comes with rice and an order of fried green plantain. Pikliz was also very fresh and not too spicy, for the non-spicy foodies. The wait is short, under 20 minutes, and the outdoor area is a cute waiting spot with greenery and patio furniture. This is a food truck spot, but they do a very great job at making it inviting to customers and locals. Definitely add this to the list!

Yelp
This was such a VIBE on a Saturday night. The string lights, the Haitian music, and excellent service were all a win in my book. With seating surrounding the truck there was plenty of room for our group of 5 to sprawl out. We brought games and beverages and enjoyed. Now, the FOOD! we ordered ribs and lanbi (grilled conch) and no crumbs were left! It was so good. It came with fried plantains (banan) and pikliz (Haitian spicy slaw) It was the perfect low key chill spot. Great food and vibes and great company too

Yelp
3 stars bc they served me ice cold rice, other than that the griot was good the plantains were okay could've been crispier, I'll be back to try again

Yelp
If I could give 0 stars I would. Terrible service, never going back, and you should never go here if you aren't hatian they have favoritism and literally gave our food to Haitians who came after us. We got there and ordered 2 plates, were told it was going to be 5 minutes, 30 minutes later when I asked how much longer, apparently they had no more chicken even though they were serving the hatian people that came after us. When I complained they finally gave us 1 plate instead of 2 because they said they had no more chicken. Then charged us full price for a plate of food and it didn't even come with rice like it was supposed to.

Yelp
Great customer service, the fish was fresh and very flavorful. During my stay in Hallandale Beach I ordered 3 times , the fish were excellent rice and all. Je reviendrai E! Jude
