Lake Abilene offers a tranquil lakeside setting popular for swimming, fishing, and kayaking, with scenic shorelines perfect for picnics and relaxation.
I was at the " lake" for a mentored adult event sponsored by Texas Parks and Wildlife. The actual lake is dry, it's absolutely not a lake and although it has a lot of wildlife, without some heavy sustained rain its going to affect the areas carrying capacity.
I would suggest the Lake management create larger closed signs and post them farther away from the lake area.

Nice area to do some exploring around this time of year, but thanks to the drought, the lake isn't doing so well.

Great nature area with a nice 3.5 mile hiking trail taking you around the lake. Trails are fairly well maintained and you can take kayaks or canoes out on the water. It is not full public access and you have to stop at the Abilene Stare Park office first to pay for the day and get the gate code. Trails aren't highly trafficked which is nice. Great place to enjoy a nice day!

Had been once before, wasn't overly impressed. Not too many options on the state park side from the bank. However, had more success here for Bass in one trip than all other lakes combined.

I love our state park. This is my favorite place to hike and meditate. This is my go to for a mommy break!
