Lake and Bryant Cafe

We stopped by Lake & Bryant for brunch and were pleasantly surprised. I had the chicken tikka sandwich, and it was fantasti. The bread was perfectly warm and toasted, and the shredded chicken tikka was super flavorful. Simple, but it packed a punch. We also tried the extra spicy noodle bowl. Heads up...it lives up to the name. It started off great, and the cold egg on top was a nice touch that helped balance the spice. But toward the end, the flavor fell off a bit and it ended up tasting more bland than bold. Not bad, just not as memorable. That said, the overall vibe was hustle and bustle, energetic but not overwhelming. Definitely worth checking out for a casual brunch with some unique flavor twists.

It was a nice experience coming in on a Friday morning. Not too busy, the service was great and friendly, and the food came out fresh and hot! I got the shakshuka and it was decent as you can see👌🏾 People tend to work on their laptops in here, and the drinks are nice. Definitely coming back!

Lovely staff & service! Superb quality food & portions: well-rounded menu. LOVE the variety of flavors from Mexican/ Asian/ Indian. Rose-Saffron drink was phenomenal. Manager (seemingly) gave my dog a treat himself & half the cafe, even the rug guy, treated her like their best friend: just a lovely crowd. Grateful for another good dog friendly spot. Beautiful plants so enrich the space & there was plenty of clean, super comfortable seating. Can't wait to return.

Really cute cafe with amazing food. The breakfast sandwich was so good the first time that we came back a second time during our 4 day trip to have it again. The cafe is also in a convenient location to lots of cool shops. Highly recommend!

This is a nice place to have breakfast and a good cup of coffee. I like that they have breakfast options other than pork. My favorite is the waffle with avocado, egg and turkey bacon.

Usually when I order food at cafes, I regret it but this time I was pleasantly surprised! The guy working the front also seemed very friendly and welcoming; which brought a smile to my face. I also love that they have vegan and gluten free options! Chill and comfortable atmosphere. Wasn’t too busy when I came in which was about 2~3PM on a Saturday.

I’ve been here a few times and had gotten the oatmeal which was pretty good. This time I got the Huevos Rancheros and I’m sorry but it was NOT good. Like school cafeteria level bad. No spice, bland, very basic ingredients and like barely edible… low quality for the price. The drinks have been good and I like the atmosphere, service was good but I just couldn’t excuse the Huevos Rancheros.

I used to come here once a week when I lived in this part of town, and the staff would greet me by name. I hadn't been here in ages, and I didn't recognize anyone working, but everyone was still friendly. They have longer hours now, which means they are doing well, and that makes me happy--this is truly a gem of a café. The menu is the same and I hope it never changes. Do yourself a favor--try the Down To Earth latte with saffron and rose. It's unlike anything I've ever had. If you try those spicy noodles, be prepared! They are not Minnesota spicy, they are FOR REAL spicy and delicious. The Prime Rib Sandwich is hands down the best breakfast sandwich in the Twin Cities and I will die on that hill. Coffee infused beef, fried egg, American cheese and sour cream on perfectly crispy ciabatta is as good as it gets.

I visited Lake and Bryant Cafe hoping for a great Uptown breakfast experience, and while the atmosphere is certainly cozy--with a nice vibe and that famed fireplace lounge--my visit was a mixed bag that ultimately left me feeling disappointed. I ordered the breakfast sandwich, and unfortunately, it missed the mark. For a café that seems to put so much effort into its unique menu the sandwich felt processed and lacked the fresh, high-quality ingredients I expected. It was just an unsatisfying start to the meal. The waffle tasted like one of those store-bought belgian waffles However, I have to give credit where it's due: the espresso was excellent. It was nice and strong, clearly made from well-sourced beans. It's a great spot for a caffeine fix. The staff were kind and attentive, and the cafe itself is a great spot to work on a laptop, but based on the food quality of my visit, I can't give it a full recommendation yet. I'll likely be back for the coffee, but I'll stick to one of their more popular items next time.

Off the bat, the ambiance is killer. The central fireplace with surrounding seating is gorgeous, the ambiance is calm, and the artwork gives the restaurant a finishing cultured touch. The restaurant operates cafe counter style where you order up from and listen for your name to grab food which can sometimes cause long lines but we were ultimately impressed with how quick the food and drinks came out. The coffees we got were very unique and tasty so huge points there. We also liked the variety of food options, including a lot of vegetarian options. I ended up choosing the shakshuka and it was good however it lacked full bodied seasoning. But it came with an entire mini loaf of fresh baked bread so I was quite the happy camper. Overall, will definitely be back but more for a casual coffee get together than for a meal.

This was my first time at Lake & Bryant & it's SO cute. I love the fireplace/conversation area in the center of the restaurant, plus their patio area is perfect. I also appreciate counter service; when you're in a hurry, it's nice to have ordered and be able to leave whenever you get your order. Our drinks came up very quickly, with the food taking a little longer, but it was fresh! I ordered a Down to Earth latte (with oat milk), which was AMAZING. It was the perfect balance of rose, with a little sweetness. I also ordered Huevos Rancheros, which were a bit different than I've had before. They were served on little corn muffins, almost like an English muffin, which were delicious. I would say that everything could've used some more salt/seasoning, but overall it was fresh & tasty. It was also the perfect amount of food, where I ate almost all of it & was comfortably full. Overall, I'll absolutely be back, at least for coffee, & would love to sit on their patio :)

I had high hopes based on the menu I read online and photos. Dishes were not traditionally prepared and lacked flavor. It felt like an intentionally healthier take on traditional foods, however fell flat for me. Coffee was ok. I had higher hopes in this area as well. The service was fine and staff are friendly. Straight forward, self ordering process. The place is nice, clean, and located in the middle of plenty of shops and restaurants uptown thus the two stars.

First time here and I plan to be back. Among their wonderful coffee creations, they have some very delicious looking food items. There is also a cozy looking fire ring for those colder days to sit around and sip on a latte.

We ate here twice in 72 hours, that's how much we liked it. We were in town for a short while, but came back after enjoying our food the first time. It's got a good ambiance, it can get hard to hear when your food is ready at the counter, so pay attention.

The breakfast sandwich with the waffle buns is to die for! After my first bite, I already knew I'd be returning to have this again & again, it's the perfect mix of sweet & savory! We went on a Friday around Noon and it was packed, could barely get a table, but great energy and a mix of people working on their laptops and people meeting up for a meal. There is a small lot connected which is nice considering it's on Lake Street. Can't wait to go back!

The employees are either just grumpy or hipsters. I placed my child on the counter and the employee approached me in a not so friendly manner telling me to remove my child. Then I overpaid for a sandwich for my husband.

Nice earthy latte flavors, love that they're unique and unexpected. Food is mostly hits, especially the tofu bahn mi, but the breakfast burrito and egg sandwich are a bit lacking. Always busy but service is pretty fast, fun casual vibe for hanging out or to go.

Nice breakfast and lunch spot with some vegan options. Apparently, they've recently changed ownership, so let's hope the quality stays. I grabbed a latte ($4.75) with oat milk (+$1!) to start and the garam masala tofu scramble ($10.75; vegan). The order was ready in under 10 minutes. The latte was solid, no complaints there. The tofu scramble was nicely seasoned, somewhat spicy, a bit under-salted, served with green onions and a bit of chopped tomato, with a side of fresh artisan bread that went nicely with it. I'd say this was a tad underwhelming -- tofu scrambles come a lot more interesting than this -- but good for the price. Nice interior and very comfortable. Solid spot.

Great laid back ambiance. Great place to study and gather with friends. Food is wonderful. Wonderful variety of food and drinks. The service is placing your order and wait for your name to be called. Definitely recommend it. The lines were long on a Sunday afternoon.

My favorite coffee shop in Uptown! Their iced caramel latte with oatmilk is unmatched. I love that they have food (vegan-friendly options too!) and the plants inside make for a nice vibe.

This is one of my favorite spots due to the cozy vibe. There are unique coffee flavors and a wide variety of food options. I got the oatmeal and they put quite the twist on it, lots of texture with goji berries, coconut, sesame seeds, walnuts and some maple syrup but not too sweet. I got the down to earth latte while it was okay i wasn't a fan of the pairings of saffron and rose. it felt grainy. I also tried the made for each other and really enjoyed this as it wasn't too sweet. The staff was kind, interactive and a bit silly when they called my name in a funny one. We laughed about it, it felt very genuine. I have gone here a few times and would go back. My one word of advice is go earlier so you have enough time to soak this place in. They close a bit earlier as they're a breakfast/ brunch cafe.

We were in Minneapolis for just a few days and decided on Lake and Bryant Cafe for breakfast. They had a good star rating so, why not. The menus isn't very big, we ordered the Matcha Smoothie Bowl and the Breakfast Burrito. The burrito was decent, the potatoes that came with it were the star of the show. The matcha smoothie bowl, on the other hand, not my thing. I'm sure others think it's delicious, I won't yuck someone else's yum but I did not care for it whatsoever. The ambiance was super cute and laid back, seemed like a great place to work, study, meet to catch up. There's always something, good, bad or indifferent. My "always something" is I wish they would have had another option for a smoothie bowl instead of just matcha. I'd go back for the burrito and to try the breakfast sandwich, that looked really good.

Cute whimsical looking spot inside. We ordered at the counter. Pick up your drinks on the left of the counter. Staff will call out your name when your food items are ready to pick up your order from the counter. You will also need to bus your own table here as well. Staff are all attentive and efficient. We ordered a green tea pina colada, hot honey mocha with oat milk, steel cut oats less coconut flakes, masala tofu scramble with added Turkey bacon and the fire grilled chicken roll special . $46.18. The hot honey mocha tastes very much like a Mexican mocha. The green tea pina colada isn't my jam, but then again pina isn't my favorite, but that's the only green tea option here. The steel cut coat is nice, the blueberries, walnuts, brown sugar. The fire grilled chicken roll was super tasty and had big chunks of chicken in it. My masala tofu scramble is quite good with the Turkey bacon. The marrying of Indian flavors here really works. The croissant here is so buttery and flaky and unbelievably good. The tofu scramble comes normally with a white dinner loaf. It all worked out nicely that our hotel had s dismal breakfast for us. We got to discover this place our first full day here. :)

Unique menu options and delicious lattes. Each time I've stopped in for breakfast the staff have always been courteous and patient while helping us place our order. I like the fire place and the plants all over the cafe. It really gives the space a cozy feeling and improves the atmosphere. I ordered a Matcha Smoothie Bowl with coconuts, matcha yogurt, goji berries, blueberries, mango purée, flax seeds, walnuts & date syrup. Wasn't very sweet and it was really creamy. I also had a orange lavender latte with lavender flower and orange zest syrup with oat milk. I ordered it iced but the barista accidentally made it hot, he offered to remake it but it wasn't that big of a deal so i accepted it and it was still pretty good. This spot is perfect if you're looking to stop in for a cup of coffee in a nice spot or even a quick grab and go. On-site parking lot, that wraps around the building, has exits both from Lake St and Bryant Av.

We were looking for lunch near our daughter's home and of course went to YELP! Saw the rating and reviews so we came to Lake and Bryant Cafe. We were very pleased with our breakfast burrito and Falafel Wrap. Coffee was great too. Service was great. We made a great choice!

Was visiting out of town, came to check out this place and the staff was super friendly and recommended an awesome drink, love it.

What a lovely oasis on busy W Lake Street! They have their own parking lot! So I'm walking in already in a good mood. There are plenty of nice nooks inside for meeting a friend, working on your computer, sitting by the fireplace. The pistachio muffin actually tastes like pistachio. The blueberry muffin has a dollop of lemon curd hidden under the crumbly topping. The strawberry rhubarb muffin is tangy and tasty. Yes, I ate all three of the muffins myself. The extremely spicy breakfast noodles really are that spicy, but strangely addictive. It helps if you get a cup of their freshly squeezed orange juice to take the edge off the spice. The tofu banh mi is very flavorful, with fresh crunchy cucumbers and shredded carrots and radish. I'm really glad I stopped in to try this place. I'll definitely be back!

We were walking down Lake St after canoeing on the lake, looking for a casual place to grab some lunch. This restaurant popped up in Yelp and the 5 star rating seemed suspect. But the photos looked so good that we decided to gamble. We hit the jackpot! This place deserves its amazing rating. The staff are friendly, kind, and attentive to the diners. And the food is fantastic and priced reasonably. The building is nondescript but you'll be delighted the moment you step inside. When I'm back in town, I'm coming back here.

Beautiful cafe with a flavorful menu and the kindest staff! They're even open on big holidays for people who don't have anywhere to go. The food is healthy, made in front of you and they roast their own beans! Excellent place!

Lake and Bryant Cafe is definitely one of the more popular cafes amongst Uptown residents and for great reason. This cafe offers all the usual selection of coffee and tea as well as a very eclectic menu of items like tofu banh mi, or extremely spicy noodles, or the chicken tikka sandwich which I ordered. The owners are a lovely South Asian couple according to my girlfriend so I decided to ordered the chicken tikka sandwich as I love chicken tikka and was very happy to see it on the menu. Let me tell you, that sandwich was freaking amazing! The chicken tikka was cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly, and just so juicy and flavorful. Combine that with the fluffy, fresh bun and you have a top tier sandwich. I mean I would genuinely eat this almost everyday if I could. They do also have a cute little outdoor turf area with some tables and seats to enjoy if the weathers nice. Otherwise, their interior is pretty big and people love to chill and do work here. I know a lot of people come here just for coffee, but this place is worth going out of your way just for the sandwich I had alone. I will 100% be back soon.

Holy buckets this food is incredible!! We got the El Paso pork sandwich and the Red Eye prime rib sandwich - both are phenomenal! The pork sandwich is very hearty and has a nice kick to it. The bread on both is slightly crispy on the outside but so light and fluffy so you can squish it down and actually eat both as a sandwich. Love the unique menu items!!

First the friendly faces. Not a lot of turnover here. They obviously enjoy their positions and it shows. Next, from their latte to the spicy breakfast noodles and everything in between, unique, fresh, flavorful and beautifully prepared. Very fair prices too! And the atmosphere. Hey, it's Lake and Bryant. What else needs to be said. Vibrance, culturally diverse and interesting goings-on about outside the windows. The central fireplace in winter is super cozy . I'm soooo glad the LynLake/Uptown area has this wonderful eatery. A"must go"!

This restaraunt is such a gem! All the food has been absolutely delicious, lattes included, and the customer service is a rare quality of kindness and genuineness that is really hard today find in this area. I highly, highly recommend! Best for parties of 2-4 as the tables are only 2 seaters and minimal, but it is perfect for a date with a friend, family, or partner :) Also a good spot for business meetings and the chairs surrounding the fireplace are a perfect reading nook.

I looked up biscuits and gravy through Yelp. And this was the top rated restaurant for serving biscuits and gravy. Drove from South St. Paul to get the biscuits and gravy when I walked in, I was told they don't have biscuits and gravy. ​ Please consider updating your app. You're wasting what's left of my life.

Lake and Bryant Cafe comes close to greatness and serves excellent, inexpensive, from-scratch food with eclectic flavors and influences. We got the garam masala tofu scramble ($8.50) and loved the hearty, warming spices in the scramble along with the excellent, soft bread. The dish is vegan by default. You don't see South Asian-inflected tofu scrambles often, but when they do, they remind you that most Euro-centric brunch foods are bland and underwhelming. My only suggestion is to bake or pan-fry the tofu more and to use a firmer variety (they used a silken tofu). The bluntly-named "extremely spicy breakfast noodles" ($8.50) is delicious, savory and addictive. They made it vegan for us by omitting the egg and adding tofu. That said, this dish isn't kidding: it's easily the spiciest restaurant food I've had in a while, causing my nose to run. I don't think 90% of Americans could handle dish. While burning hot, you'll keep eating more, as long as you take a few breaks to let your tongue recover. The tofu banh mi ($9) can be made vegan by using a different sauce (ask for it). This dish has excellent bread, lightly seared tofu and fresh ingredients. It's lovely. Lastly, we had a housemade masala chai with oat milk ($5.25). We asked to make it less sweet than normal. This was a beautiful chai, balanced and flavorful, and gives Namaste Cafe's chai a run for its money. The brewed coffee ($3.50) is also excellent with house-roasted beans. They also have a quaint side patio and serve up their food quickly. If Lake and Bryant Cafe had a few more vegan options (how about a fried tofu breakfast sandwich? or a vegan laddoo with peanuts and chocolate? or any vegan baked goods?) it would be a weekly staple for me.

I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. Me and 4 girlfriends were in Minneapolis on our way to the Boundary Waters, and we needed some good breakfast fuel to make the long drive. We found Lake and Bryant on Yelp, and what was possibly the BEST breakfast sandwich of my life. We liked this place so much we even stopped again after our trip before we flew out of Minneapolis. The first time I tried the breakfast burrito, which was super delicious & had whole potatoes on the side. Unique for sure, but they were well-seasoned! I heard rave reviews from the others about the waffle breakfast sandwich, so I had to get that on the 2nd round. WOW. The waffle had crystal sugar on it, so it was both sweet & savory, and between it was egg, cheese, and avocado. I mean.... WOW. Do NOT miss this. To top it all off, the staff was SO friendly. When we asked questions about the menu, the owner literally went through every menu item & described it for us. He was honest with us about which items would fit the tastes we were looking for, and gave us great recommendations. Wish I could go back tomorrow!!!!

Lake and Bryant is an awesome place to stop for coffee or a quick lunch. FOOD: The food here is fantastic - my favorite is the chicken tikka sandwich, which is simple but perfectly balanced and super tasty. Their coffee is also great, and recently I've been trying their caffeinated mocktails which are also quite good. AMBIANCE: I love the convenient location on lake street, and the inside has a huge fireplace and lots of plants which make it both cozy and super bright and airy. In the summer there are tables outside with some umbrellas for some much needed shade. SERVICE: Always prompt and friendly, perfect for a quick bite. My only complaint is that they aren't open later in the day! PARKING: Can usually find a spot within two blocks on Bryant.

Visited on 10/21/22. Great service, great food, and great coffee drinks. Parking was fairly easy in this area with street and neighborhood parking available. Super charming atmosphere with a feeling of neighborhood camaraderie. I ordered the breakfast burrito and the Made for Each Other drink iced. The service was great and the guy at the counter answered my questions with ease. Both food and drink came out in a timely manner. The burrito was a good size and not overly filling or hard to eat like some breakfast burritos are. Overall it was a solid breakfast burrito that I would give 4 stars out of 5. I absolutely loved the drink and would get it again in a heartbeat. The slight notes of cardamom were delicious and so unique to a lot of the coffee drinks you find around the twin cities. Overall I would definitely come back and had a great experience here.

One of my favorite cafes to go to in uptown, they have a good selection of food that is affordable. Cute space and hood wifi so you can work out of. The service is great as well with how helpful and nice everyone is. They have a great selection of sweets and if you are into coffee they have that too. Overall a cute stop if you want to stop by for breakfast/lunch or if you have work to do!

I go to Uptown every other week for an appointment I always look forward to getting their iced mocha it's made perfect every time I enjoy it so much!

This place is amazing. Drinks are on point, food is insane, super quick to order and get food. We got the huevos rancheros and tofu banh mi and both were delicious. Definitely get the tamarind ginger drink, it's perfection.

I went here this morning before work the employees are kind and have a good energy the vibe of the place is great they had good music playing in the background the food is amazing overall I had a great experience. just a heads up they don't expect cash payments

Best Secret GEM in the cities! The ambiance and friendly/comfortable atmosphere are so inviting! All the staff are so genuinely friendly and helpful, including the owner!! The coffee quality is outstanding and you definitely taste the difference in the deliciousness and freshness of the coffee/expresso! They also have one of the BEST sandwiches in the City!!! The Chicken Tikka Sandwich is out of this world!!! It is an absolute flavor explosion!!! The chicken is juicy, tender, flavorful, and bathed in a magical tomato sauce! I typically don't like ciabatta bread and they have completely changed my mind! The bread is lightly toasted with a slight crunch on the outside and a warm and soft consistency on the inside! If you haven't tried this sandwich, you are neglecting your tastebuds!!!

This cafe is an eclectic place to eat lunch. We tried a few dishes and enjoyed the daily iced teas (green pina colada and black peach orange ginger). They were refreshing. The tikka masala sandwich was delicious. The meat was tender and the ciabatta was perfect. The extremely spicy noodles had a great flavor that lived up to its name! The udon noodle bowl was fresh and tasted homemade. The meat was tender.

This place is great. Good food with a middle eastern twist, great hot and cold coffee beverages, (amazing chai!), and such a friendly staff. There are a number of cafes around the Lyn-Lake area, so it's easy to overlook Lake and Bryant Cafe. Stop in and give them a try!

The food was excellent and I can't wait to return to try more dishes. We all loved it. We got the cheesy shakshuka, huevos rancheros, and the matcha yogurt bowl. We also got the iced matcha tea which was fantastic, so was the fresh squeezed orange, and the cafe latte. It was a cute atmosphere, and close to Bde Mka Ska. The service was great.

Lake and Bryant has such a beautiful ambiance with the kindest and hardworking employees! The food is immaculate from the extremely spicy noodles, breakfast burrito, and the chorizo smashwich are all of my favorites!! The grilled cheese is also the best I've ever had, everything tastes so fresh and flavourful every time I eat there! 10/10 would recommend!

Good coffee and breakfast venue. Cheerful and informative staff, which was great on a cold morning. Loved the Cry Baby Craig's hot sauce on our eggs. I was a little disappointed in the hollandaise sauce not being homemade on the Eggs Benedict, but understand how difficult it is to keep. Loved the artwork and bright colors!

Stale croissant and limited selection in breakfast options. We had intended to have breakfast
