I booked 2 nights at the Peach Shake Inn in Myrtle Beach a Marriott property with bookings being managed by Vacasa. The quality of the accommodation was far below what I expect from a Marriott property. For $270 a night I expected at least a 3 out of 5 quality rating. The accommodation was a 1, maybe a 2 at best. The property was not well maintained. The hallway smelled like vomit and was sanitarium feeling. Not the way a beach property should feel. The unit was filled with cheap furniture. The couch and lounge chair were old and disgusting. We would not sit on them. The lock to the balcony door was broken and would not lock. We did not feel safe. One of the shower faucets had vice grip pliers holding it together. Please see the attached pictures. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement. I feel like I was ripped off and it ruined what was supposed to be a special weekend.

The customer service was horrible. The air conditioner at the property didn't work. The inside was disgusting. The lawn was overgrown. We cut our vacation short because it was so bad. The property least: 2636 Peach Grove Rd Louisa, VA 23093

Awful rental company with POOR customer service. Our stay in Topsail, NC had massive lack of caring and response from the local staff. The AC’s did not work properly where the condo got to 90 degrees and traveling with a 2 year old and 3 month old NO action was taken by vacasa or their local staff. Local staff NEVER reached out to see if we were okay or to fix the AC other than bringing two box fans. We were not told the balcony was closed, and this was a reason we booked Totally Topsail. We found roaches which this issue was NOT addressed either. I requested to be moved to another unit every day, once again this was NEVER responded to. HORRIBLE rental company!!!! I was offered a $200 refund where other renters in the SAME building were given at least 50% refund and only had balcony closed, not AC issues and pests in their unit. We had to sit outside during a thunderstorm to cool off our children…..this is unacceptable!!!!

We had a horrible experience! We rented Coral Cove at Lake Anna. Rental was misrepresented in multiple ways. Owner obviously never comes to see property to see what is there but has no problem spying on guests with cameras inside and outside. We were harassed and recorded on these cameras. Only one working shower, bathroom outside wasn’t hooked up but was clearly used by previous guests, no hot water which when reported we felt we were being blamed for having 1 person take a shower. When maintenance came a day and a half later they said the water tank had been turned to lowest possible setting. The pool was filthy and water was green with algae.On our final day a neighbor’s dog wandered on to the property and our 4 year old granddaughter petted the dog on the front porch. This resulted in the owner who was stalking through the cameras to have a message sent to us that since we now had a dog if we did not vacate the premises immediately they would call police to evict us! When I responded that it was NOT our dog they said we were lying! We will never rent from this owner and company again! Shame on this entire outfit!

Earlier this month was our third stay in three years at Shangri-La in Bumpass VA, and it certainly is our last. The house clearly lacks regular maintenance and so many items or concerns we encountered once again on this stay were pointed out following our first and second visits and nothing has been done to correct them. Upon arrival the lock code provided did not work, requiring a call to the management company. A representative was out in 20 minutes to correct this. A cleaning of the deck and furniture was needed despite having made this request earlier in the week after seeing another review mentioning this same condition. There was also a dried liquid under the shelf of the refrigerator that could not be cleaned. Overall, the house is lacking in character and décor. Very little artwork in any of the rooms. A review of some of the other options in the area is a testament that this place falls short of the cozy décor in so many other options. Spartan and minimalist best describes this home. Examples of lack of attention to detail and poor maintenance: 1) No toilet paper holders in three of the bathrooms – there appear to be remnants of what were at one time holders on the walls that have since broken. 2) A kitchen drawer to the right of the sink that is not secured and drops when opened. 3) Why is an abandoned water cooler randomly stored in the dining room? 4) The downstairs bathroom at the bottom of the steps needs an aerator- the water splashes out and the faucet is loose. 5) No hot water to the larger shower in lower level. 6) In searching for the water heater for the shower, in the right-side garage we discovered decomposed mice on traps. No surprise, as animals have an easy entry point as the garage door does not fully lower and there is a 2+ inch gap. 7) The sink in the other smaller downstairs bathroom has a draining problem. 8) The sinks in the master bathroom have a draining problem. 9) There are no directions on how to control the HVAC system. 10) Broken window crank in dining room. 11) Sliding glass door screens -one broken but still in place, the other has just been left on the deck as it is broken as well. 12) The small downstairs bedroom door does not close easily as the door is warped. 12) The back part of the living room that juts out towards the lake has a ceiling fan and light- but the switches did not work and using the chains on the light did not get it to operate. 13) At least a dozen dead bugs on the window ledges in the lower level. Kitchen a) Pot handles are loose -certainly a safety hazard. b) One of the large pots has crusted baked-on residue from a burnt meal gone wrong. c) Teflon or non-stick coating scraped off the surfaces of pans. It is advised that you bring along your own pots and pans. Seriously, you can buy an inexpensive set of pans for less than $100. Why not just buy a new set annually? d) The can opener was broken, requiring a trip to Dollar General. Furniture a) Most of the bedrooms have no dresser or table on/in which to place your items. So, you are left with just placing items on the floor. b) The large area with the non-functioning light upstairs is just underutilized space- there is not sufficient furniture to create another seating area. Unless one is going to unfurl a large Twister game, I see little use for this space without furniture. It is maintained and furnished as if renting it out as an AirBNB was an afterthought to at least earn some income after its owners had moved elsewhere. If you can tolerate these Motel 6 level accommodations at about $1,000 a night, then this may be the place for you.

First time booking with vacasa in the Lake Anna area and will not be using them again under no circumstances. Stayed at Coral Cove. If you want to be harassed and constantly be under surveillance by the property owner this is the booking for you! The day of our departure (after we had been there for 6 days) a small dog approached us as we were loading up to head home. Within 20 minutes of the dog approaching my four year old niece we were accused of having a dog on the premises and threatened with the Sheriffs office being called. I am unsure if the owner is just so uptight and obsessive or he is new to the rental business but this is not the way to be successful in a vacation rental venture. Listing advertised 2 1/2 bathrooms with only 1 bathroom fully functioning as the other two bathrooms were “winterized”. In addition, the water heater temperature was turned down so low the water was tepid at best. Maintenance was called and thankfully took care of this issue. The only positive encounter of this vacation experience was the maintenance crew who responded to our call.

This is the worst company ever! Do yourself a favor, friends and family a favor and Run from this company! They are steeling my money from me. Booked a house for 11 days and the hurricane has flooded it and it was a mandatory evacuation to that area and they will not refund my money. Steeling from customers!!

Have never used them before but seeing as they definitely have a heavy presence especially when it comes to rental properties and they had a slightly better $ when booking it was hard not to use them. Our rental in Topsail NC was great for the cost, however there were a few things I addressed with VACASA when I reviewed them when we left. I don't know "where" that went or if anything will ever come of it but I wanted to do my due diligence and letting other customers know to beware. The only complaint with VACAS specifically is they sent us the wrong door code, which was an 8 digit number. They never apologized for the inconvenience it was simply yeah that's not the code, this is your code. It was never updated in my app or in an email, we had to make a note on our phone of the updated number. Also I don't know who handles cleaning the properties if it is managed by VACASA? Our rental definitely needed better attention! the beds and towels were great and clean but everything else was subpar. I am currently going to see how to review the actual site as to make sure it is an owner issue vs VACASA. After reading the other reviews of their company, we will be steering clear of them for sure.
