Since it was rainy the day we were in Chelan, we stopped by the visitor center to ask if there was any recommendations considering the weather. There wasn't. But we received a list of events which included the tour and Grape Stomp at Lake Chelan Winery, so figured why not?
The tour ended up being cancelled that day due to the weather. We still did the grape stomp which was set up competition style. You and another person have one minute to see who can output the most grape juice. It was squishy and super cold! Obviously I won, and I got to pick from a couple prize selections. There were 2 plastic cup designs (I went with the cute cow), candy, and I think kiddy knick knacks to choose from.
We went inside the tasting room and were surprised to see it crowded given the lack of people we had seen out so far that day. Turns out, tastings are complimentary, unless you want to taste from the exclusive list. Wine is wine so free list it is! You can choose 4 wines per tasting. Between the 2 of us, I believe we tried Falling Cow White, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Stormy Mountain Red, Falling Cow Red, Malbec, Merlot, and Syrah. I think I liked the Malbec and Stormy Mountain Red the most, though we did not get up getting any bottles because we rarely drink wine at home.
The tasting room also has a gift shop area with jewelry, socks, toys, home decor, food items, candles, etc. They had wine scented candles and now I'm wishing I had purchased the Merlot scent!
But wait, there's more! There's also a cheese counter inside where you can sample and purchase cheese. Of what we tried, the Balsamic Bellavintano was my favorite. I would also go on to regret not buying some there, but at least the cheese shop in Leavenworth had it too.
