The 12 Best Wineries Near Lake Chelan - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Lake Chelan Winery has something the other options in the area don't: excellent kielbasa. Everything else their fast-casual, on-premises BBQ restaurant serves is pretty hit or miss, but they have a huge wine list and a giant grass lawn where you’ll see kids amped up on Pepsi running around with their parents. Just know the lines can be long if you get there right when they open." - emily burks, carlo mantuano

A Hidden Gem After Work! Stopped in for dinner after work and was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was family-friendly, warm, and welcoming. Perfect for relaxing after a long day. The ribs? Absolutely mouthwatering, they fell off the bone and were packed with smoky flavor. I paired my meal with their cherry cider, which was crisp, sweet, and perfectly refreshing. Prices were reasonable for the quality and portions. Shoutout to Tito for doing a great job on the BBQ! Definitely coming back! this place hits the spot.

Google
Lake Chelan Winery was one of the highlights of my trip. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by a warm and friendly staff who made our wine tasting experience relaxed and enjoyable. The grounds are beautiful set right in the vineyard with amazing views, rustic charm, and a casual atmosphere that makes it easy to settle in and stay awhile. The wine was fantastic! We especially loved the Falling Cow Red and the Riesling both were flavorful and well-balanced. The tasting room was laid-back but still informative. You could tell the team really knows their stuff, but they keep it approachable for everyone. One of the biggest surprises was the BBQ in the Vineyard. The food was incredible smoked meats, fresh sides, and generous portions. We had brisket, mac and cheese, and a glass of red that paired perfectly. Sitting on the patio with live music and good food was the perfect way to unwind. Also loved the cheese shop inside tons of unique cheeses and snacks you can take home or pair with your wine right there. Whether you’re a wine lover or just looking for a fun, scenic stop in Lake Chelan, this place is a must. Can’t wait to come back!

We’ve been coming here for years and are proud wine club members. Each season brings a standout release, and they consistently produce several fantastic varietals. Beyond the wine, one of our favorite traditions is their daily BBQ in the vineyard. Start with a tasting in the inviting indoor tasting room, then grab a bottle of your favorite and head out back to the vineyard. From the BBQ menu, don’t miss the pork ribs, they’re a must. Pair them with the coleslaw and baked beans, and take full advantage of the complimentary cornbread with honey butter. Seating options range from shaded tables to spots right among the vines. Great wine, great BBQ, and a beautiful setting, what more could you want?

Google
They just opened their BBQ dinner service so I stopped by for a takeout rack of ribs and their complimentary corn bread. Went great with my homemade romaine salad. Friendly service. Nice packaging.

Google
Was the food here good? Sure. It wasn't $90 good. This place is border line fast food. You order at a counter and then your food is brought to you. No real service in that arena. here is what we ordered. Chicken, half a rack of ribs (Which sounds big but was actually the size of my hand) a brisket sandwich, medium cole slaw and medium beans. Seems like there should be an automatic side paired with the dish but ok. No drinks ordered, just water. I would not recommend this place solely based on the prices. The chicken was dry but the ribs and brisket DID have really good flavor. If you work at this place, you may have tallied up what I wrote down and said "Hey, that's not $90!" Its true, but I didn't add the fact that I was dumb enough to tip at the counter where I ordered. Shame on me. Diners beware.

Google
The wine was nice. One of the reds from the tasting list was young for the time of this visit, but there were enough complexities/flavor profiles you could distinguish in the wines that you'd be satisfied here based off the tasting list at least for a basic wine drinker. Nice gift shop that I didn't see in the other wineries we stopped off at, cheese, accessories, etc.

Friday night = BBQ and live music. Get there a little early , though lots of space for parking, it fills up fast . Also seating in the shade is preferred. Brisket was fantastic- free corn bread - worth the trip around the lake near Manson.

Google
Waited for 20 minutes then went back to the counter to get our second wine taste, had to wait for her to finish with customers, basically it was a hour and a half to do a wine taste. Then got a bottle of wine. Then, headed to the restaurant. We thought we'd get to a lot sooner for my birthday. Got to wapato, point winery, for dinner.Got seated, waited over twenty minutes for nobody to come. And say hello... and we left.... both places I will not go to anymore. They're understaffed

Yelp
Context: Family of 4 including 2 kiddos looking for a family friendly dinner and good drink options for the parents. We loved our evening at Lake Chelan Winery! We came on a Thursday evening around 4:30-5pm. We first enjoyed a nice (complementary) wine tasting indoors, and the kiddos demolished the small bites charcuterie board. The wine was good and the staff were very friendly. The Riesling was particularly good considering it was a hot summer day. We then went outside to grab some bbq! Loved the ambiance. Short line around 5:15 pm and food came out quick. I enjoyed the pork ribs, the spicy bbq sauce was great with it. My wife (vegetarian) enjoyed her salad and baked beans, and appreciated the complementary corn bread. Not a lot of GF options unfortunately. The Mac and cheese was ok, my kids didn't finish it which was surprising. The outdoor area is big and the vineyards are beautiful. A lot of space for the kids to run around and play. My wife and I were able to enjoy another glass of wine while they played. You can order wine and beer at the bbq! We will be back!

Yelp
Come for the BBQ! We devoured the mac n cheese, ribs, braised short rib, and caesar salad. Super family friendly atmosphere. Plus, unlimited cornbread! Prices were beyond reasonable and staff was lovely!

Yelp
This is such a fun and friendly atmosphere. The staff are SO nice, thoughtful, and engaging. They provide great recommendations. The cheese selection is second to none. There is every flavor and type of cheese you could ask for.

Yelp
Arrived on a slow Saturday evening (6:00) in November. Friendly service. Not so knowledgeable, but very nice. Good wines. Variety is impressive. Prices are inching up there. Been long time customers and am surprised how ignored we are- not that we expect special treatment, but a hello from the manager whom knows us would be nice. Not sure our membership is appreciated. Fortunately there are 33 other wineries to chose from.

Houston S.

Yelp
I'd consider this must do. Great vibe, great service, and very kid friendly. Giving it a 4/5 because although sides and sauces were 10/10, felt like meat was a tad bit over-done. However, very edible. Great rub on the ribs. Drinks wise have beers for all palettes, and plenty of wine choices. Servers looked like high school kids, and flat out killed it. Better than most adults. Shout out to their parents/guardians. Finally, complimentary corn bread. Just what the world needs. Realistically we are looking at a closer to 5/5 than a 4/5.
google avatar

Yelp
Many wine tasting options and a fun storefront full of fun gifts. Give them a try. BBQ in the summer months. Cheese and meats available year round.

Yelp
Stopped by for some protein for our meal "to-go" and ordered a chicken breast, barbecue brisket and kielbasa. All three were cooked to perfection and the prices were reasonable for the quality.

T E.

Yelp
We arrived at 5:30pm on Wednesday evening. my spouse wanted the brisket but they were sold out. Really, less than two hours into service, they are sold out? we ordered the shredded pork, coleslaw, and beans. The pork was dry and instead of shredded it was pulverized. The coleslaw had way, way too much dressing on it. who makes coleslaw such that you have a half cup of dressing left in a single serving dish? it needed less dressing, more carrots and purple cabbage. the free cornbread was good as was the cider. We were both disappointed with our dinner and had to stop in chelan on the way home for ice cream to compensate for the mediocre dinner.

Braden H.

Yelp
What a great place to stop and embrace wine from Chelan. Ron was a great host, fun and engaging. The 2021 Tempranillo is a must have red!
google avatar

Yelp
We drove here and we're confused if they were still open. The parking lot was pretty empty, but then we saw a family park and walk back to a bbq? When we finally walked in, it seemed part Cracker Barrel, part tasting room, part kitchen gadget store. They were also breaking in some new staff, and things were a bit disorganized. But people were friendly.

Yelp
Came here for the BBQ dinner and ordered The Big Time for $115. This is recommended for 4- 6 people but because we have small eaters, we were able to stretch it to 7 with an extra Smoked Quarter Chicken for $10. The Big Time came in a platter with 1 rack of Pork Ribs 6 oz Tri Tip 6 oz Kielbasa 2 Prawn Skewers 1 Teriyaki Chicken Breast 1 medium Baked Beans 1 medium Coleslaw 1 medium Mac n Cheese Meats were BBQ'd too dry and tasteless. Tri tip was tough. Teriyaki Chicken looks sad. Out of everything in the platter, the baked beans was the best. The Smoked Quarter Chicken for $10 is huge, almost looks like a turkey quarter. It's very bland but at least not dry. Staff was friendly though. I wouldn't recommend eating here.

Yelp
THE best winery in the area! Complimentary tastings, regular tasting, cheese boards, board games, vintage decor for purchase, you name it! In summers they even have a BBQ feast. Loved the service and the generous pours. Even got to sample the Mayan coffee cheese. One can easily spend half a day tasting, drinking and just hanging out! Fun, fun, fun!
google avatar

Yelp
A great local winery offering a good mix of wines to satisfy any price point or palate for all customers. The service is exceptional and very friendly. They offer a basic tasting at no charge (becoming a rare thing) or an extended tasting for $10 which they'll waive with a bottle purchase. If the incredible wines and superb service wasn't enough, they also offer an extensive selection of premium cheeses and bites to pair with their wines. And be sure to check out all the local gift items (not just stuff for the winery) fir keepsakes of your visit or birthday presents for your friends. Kid friendly, great bbq with outdoor seating (call for seasonal hours), plenty of parking, and be sure to check out their cider selection which is also made on the premises. Overall, a must visit for locals or tourists,

Yelp
I've visited LCW a few times on my visits to chelan and always enjoy it! There are activities year round. Wine tasting, snacks, super cute gift shop, wine and cider to purchase. I love the BBQ on the vineyard they do in the summer, so fun for the whole family! Great location nestled between the town of Chelan and Manson.
google avatar

Yelp
Staff is super friendly and helpful when doing a free tasting. Lots of vines and they provide tours as well food for purchase, including barbecue.

Yelp
Lake Chelan Winery is located right between Manson & Chelan. My partner and I visited mid day on Saturday. The tasting room was fairly busy but there was plenty of seating available. We asked to do a tasting, but we were never offered a place to sit so we ended up doing this at the bar (one star deduction). We requested to do 1 complimentary tasting (free) & 1 exclusive tasting. For some reason the woman that was pouring us switched my partners over mid way through to my exclusive tasting. So instead of it being $10 for one exclusive, she charged us $20 even though my partner didn't get all of the wines he was supposed to. I don't know if it's because I don't look elderly or because I have purple hair, but I felt pretty disrespected at this tasting room, so I won't be back. This wouldn't have happened if I was in Woodinville.

Yelp
Known for their BBQ, but alas when we stopped by for dinner, they were all out of smoked chicken and baby back ribs (which most of our party wanted). Settled for the BBQ tri tip dinner which came with coleslaw and baked beans $19. The tri tip was underseasoned. Slaw and baked beans were good. Serving was smaller than anticipated -- 3 slices, maybe 2" wide by 3" long, of tri tip, small cup (think those to-go ketchup cups) of slaw and baked beans. It was also inconsistent -- my friend had the trip tip and hers was a tad better tasting. Another in our party had the Rib Meat Sandwich -- Half rack of baby ribs pulled off the bone then slow-roasted with seasoning and raspberry Chipotle $15. This was tastier than the tri-tip. Had a bottle of red (see picture)...it was good. If you're going for the smoked chicken or the baby back ribs, get there early! They open at 4 p.m. We got there around 6 and they were sold out of the chicken and baby back ribs....so disappointed.

Yelp
I must say that I don't know much about wine or cheese but I enjoyed my experience here and ended up signing up to their Wine Club and got discounts on their wine and other merchandise. Other than wine, they have a good selection of cheese. I really like their Maple Syrup Whiskey cheese. We came too early so didn't stay for their BBQ that begins at 5pm. Their staffs were so friendly and took time to serve. Will definitely come bk when next in town.

Yelp
We did Taste of Chelan yesterday and Lake Chelan Winery hands down had the best customer service and food! The ribs were falling off the bone and so good. Our wine expert Robin was AMAZING! Her customer service, good nature and knowledge of the wines helped to make our experience stellar! We will be back Robin and I'll wear my sunglasses!

Yelp
Since it was rainy the day we were in Chelan, we stopped by the visitor center to ask if there was any recommendations considering the weather. There wasn't. But we received a list of events which included the tour and Grape Stomp at Lake Chelan Winery, so figured why not? The tour ended up being cancelled that day due to the weather. We still did the grape stomp which was set up competition style. You and another person have one minute to see who can output the most grape juice. It was squishy and super cold! Obviously I won, and I got to pick from a couple prize selections. There were 2 plastic cup designs (I went with the cute cow), candy, and I think kiddy knick knacks to choose from. We went inside the tasting room and were surprised to see it crowded given the lack of people we had seen out so far that day. Turns out, tastings are complimentary, unless you want to taste from the exclusive list. Wine is wine so free list it is! You can choose 4 wines per tasting. Between the 2 of us, I believe we tried Falling Cow White, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Stormy Mountain Red, Falling Cow Red, Malbec, Merlot, and Syrah. I think I liked the Malbec and Stormy Mountain Red the most, though we did not get up getting any bottles because we rarely drink wine at home. The tasting room also has a gift shop area with jewelry, socks, toys, home decor, food items, candles, etc. They had wine scented candles and now I'm wishing I had purchased the Merlot scent! But wait, there's more! There's also a cheese counter inside where you can sample and purchase cheese. Of what we tried, the Balsamic Bellavintano was my favorite. I would also go on to regret not buying some there, but at least the cheese shop in Leavenworth had it too.

Yelp
Went here for my bachelorette trip! Super good food. -!: great outdoor vibe!! We didn't make reservations and has to wait! But while you wait you can play cornhole and drink wine!

Bill D.

Yelp
their winery event this Saturday was a joke and disaster! huge crowd, no where to sit obviously just invited people with no plan. requested and got our money back. very poorly done and frustrating. Bill D

Yelp
Five stars for the service, three for the wine. Hits and misses - the whites were misses except for the Rose. The Reds were a bit all over the map - Syrahs and Tempranillo worked but the Merlots were soft with short finish.
google avatar

Melody M.

Yelp
First time coming here and i wanted the best experience, Highly recommend the baby back ribs. We ordered the full rack, and it comes with beans and coleslaw, the coleslaw was not overwhelming as normaly it would have that tang, but they have a subtle sweet into it. Would also suggest to come early than 6 as people start coming in and had to wait a little for the table. It was a great experience. And don't forget to to have the wine, Stormy white. Divine!
google avatar

Matt S.

Yelp
Cluttered and busy tasting room but cheese counter had some treats. Wine tasting is pretty hit or miss in Chelan, and so my expectations were LOW... The wine was pretty good and i even bought a few bottles. decent prices. The cheese counter is the real gem in this cluttered barn of eastern washington crafts. Lots of tasting available and some very unique cheeses to buy - nettles? stout? classic cheddar? they have them all. they seem to have hired all the librarians in town to staff the cheese counter because they could not have been nicer! will return for the cheese!!
google avatar

Alex G.

Yelp
Super fun tasting room, very friendly staff, great wine! My boyfriend and I had a fantastic time wine tasting here on an early spring day. We hung out in the little raised nook part of the shop and munched on a giant charcuterie board. In between sips, I browsed the shop and found some cute earrings. Would definitely come back again!!
google avatar

Julie D.

Yelp
We opted for the free traditional wine tasting with two whites and two reds. The wines were all good. We bought two bottles. The cheese shop has a good selection. Cute gift shop. Stop for a taste. The outdoor seating is warm with heaters and blankets. Julie was an awesome server.
google avatar

Cindy R.

Yelp
Nice shop inside the winery. Good wine. Great BBQ. Nice staff. Will be back the next time we're in Lake Chelan.

Megan M.

Yelp
This is definitely a family must-do activity! The BBQ opens at 5 and is very organized and food comes out quickly. Lots of seating under umbrellas/covered areas, misters during hot sunny days, grassy areas for kids to run around and play PLUS great food and drinks. The staff was super nice and helpful. Highly recommend and we will be coming back!

Yelp
A group of us visited 3/25/2023. We were so disappointed. The person offering taste poured the smallest out of the other 2 wineries we visited prior. Which is fine, it's a taste. But she had such a "Used Car" sales approach that never stopped. Pitching their membership and all the perks etc, etc.... She only left us for a brief moment to get the next bottle, stayed while continuing the sales pitch. We couldn't even slowly savor and discuss it amongst ourselves. In the end we left feeling that it was all really a big pushy sale gimmick and borderline dishonest when it came to actually purchasing a bottle. The gift shop had a few items with their marketing logo. All other items were Cracker Barrel "style" not winery. She also was so concentrated on selling us a bottle she knowing poured the next taste of white into my little sip of what was left of my red. Looked at me and said, "It won't make much difference". We'll know next year not to return. Cheers

Yelp
Such a fun night! Molly (our server) had amazing energy when she brought us our wine and amazing BBQ. Wine - if you like white/Chardonnay you may love "Falling Cow White" - I sure did. BBQ - Tri tip was my selection. Amazing flavor and juicy. The cole slaw would be classified as my dessert. Not sweet at all but so good that I ate mine and my parents! Love the celery seed addition. Our night concluded with a fun night of live music by The Lake Boys!

T E.

Yelp
Much better when you eat there. Food was great; found ourselves ordering more even after we ate more than we'd thought we could.

Yelp
Wow, we LOVE THIS PLACE!! Yes I'm shouting! I've had enough good wine to shout. The wine is exceptional and the service friendly. The BBQ was going around back and we stayed for dinner after a wine tasting. The BBQ was delicious and hit the spot. We walked away with 4 bottles of wine, a full tummy and a happy smile.

Shay B.

Yelp
Very good assortment of wines to choose from and many of those we tasted were excellent. We left as new members with 3 cases, and came back for the barbecue dinner that evening. Dinner was served on the patio. Our order arrived quickly and was some of the best barbecue we've had anywhere! We would definitely come back for dinner again!

Morgan H.

Yelp
We waited 1 hours 35 for food at the BBQ, and that was after they made us wait 30 mins for a "kitchen break" to even order. This was Sunday night of the 4th of July weekend. One might think they would have expected people to be there, and there truly weren't that many people. When the food came, they got my order wrong and my chicken breast was as dry as my chelan sun burnt skin. They told my dad they were out of pork ribs but then let other later groups order them...when his steak ribs came there were 2 and the cashier told him there would be 5.

Yelp
My friends and I decided to brave the freezing temperature and icy conditions to head over to Chelan. Chelan is wine country so it's hard to go here and not sample the fruits of the fields. We went on Valentines Day so there was a decent sized crowd of people inside. Anyway, the experience here wasn't very personal. After weeding through the people that were wine-blocking the counter, we finally got a chance to sample some wines. People were wine blocking as there really isn't a large amount of sitting room other than a 5-6 small tables next to the bathrooms (odd placement). I believe I tried a dry Syrah, a Gewurtztraminer, and one other white wine. I thought they were all decent but not the best. I had never had a Syrah before and I actually liked that one the best. The lady overseeing the tasting was very very knowledgeable and friendly. The cheese and meat area was neat too and the cheese was hella good. They also had a chocolate fountain and I just can't even fathom the amount of items that fall into the chocolate, edible and inedible. Plus there were kids playing in it so I was over it. The bathroom was the hot ticket which also was odd as well as it smelled madd funky and you could smell it from the sitting tables. I'd like to try this place again when it's not busy and not Valentines day. It has potential.

Yelp
This winery was amazing! The staff was friendly, and helpful with any questions that we had. We loved the barbecue dinner, but get there early to get a table in the shade! Food was wonderful though, and the wine was perfect with it!
google avatar

Yelp
Fabulous wine with a excellent service. Go and enjoy the wine tasting and join the club. I have enjoyed all of my wines! The gift shop has so many unique and fun items for gifts and more. Have fun and make sure to try the cheese samples too!

Yelp
Wow! So good!!! Walked in and immediately felt at home!! Lynda, our host was phenomenal

Yelp
Great atmosphere! Good place for kids and families! Loved the patio, surrounded by the vineyards! Food was overpriced for what it is. Don't get me wrong it was delicious!! The pulled pork sandwich was to die for! It was loaded with BBQ pork, had to eat a lot of it with a fork before I could eat it as a sandwich because I probably would've been wearing it! It came with 2 sides; coleslaw and BBQ beans. Also upon arrival you get a basket of cornbread. (I would've preferred it after the meal, kind of like dessert to me!) But it was delicious, I prob wouldn't have had room for it after that sandwich though! I just think $18 for a pulled pork sandwich is a bit extreme. I think $12-$14 would be a more reasonable price tag. But after all it is a winery and they always charge more. Obviously I will be back, the food; while expensive was ridiculously delicious!! 2 big thumbs up!

Yelp
Rude server. Granted, we were not dressed very well tonight and had our elderly mother with dementia with us - perhaps it appeared that we wouldn't spend much. We had actually hoped to grab some food, taste a variety of wines, and purchase a few bottles to share with friends arriving over the next several weeks. Our guest hoped to pick up a few things in the gift shop. We waited near the counter patiently. The server tended to others and told us to hang on at least three times (we were not being pushy or asking anything at all). When I asked whether there was wine tasting outside he replied that there was..... 'inside and on the porch'. We thanked him and continued to wait. Then he said that we should go wait outside and he'd come out to help us. We never indicated that this was what we had decided upon. We did go out, sat down, and waited, waited, and waited....then just left. We probably won't return or bring guests there anymore. Additionally, the sign on door mandated masks. Inside, hardly anyone wore a mask and none of the employees or servers were masked...poor societal and professional integrity.....either follow your guidance (and the Governor's) or remove the signage.

Yelp
This place is amazing!! The service is great, the food comes out quickly, and the scenery is beautiful. The reason that I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5 is because two members of my family ordered BBQ tri-tip steak, and both steaks came cooked very differently. The menu says medium rare but one steak was wayyyy overdone, and the other was underdone. Other than that, everything else was amazing! It's such a cute place and it is a good experience! Definitely would recommend...just specify how you want your steak cooked. :)

ThuyVi M.

Yelp
Very taste-y wines! Excellent service, lots of options, and very cute store with things like salsa, bbq sauce, home decor, and of course wine! They sell very old vintages (think 2006 Merlot) and also what they are currently serving. Wines were very reasonably priced, and 4 tastings are complimentary! We left with a bottle of the Falling Cow Red - which was not only delicious, but also had a super cute label and also a fun story behind the name! Of all the wineries, don't miss this one!!

Zita K.

Yelp
Love this place. They offer free wine tastings, have the loveliest staff and tons of beautiful outdoor seating w views. The yummy BBQ opens at 5pm and they have tables you can sit at in the actual vineyard. Loved every minute of this experience.

Megan E.

Yelp
This place has changed. You have to order your very expensive food upfront, like at a cafeteria. You have to pick up your own trays of food at a pick up table. It looked like everyone was busing there own tables too, so that's what we did. All in all, a much different experience from years past, and, sadly, we won't be going back.

Yelp
One of my Chelan favs...ribs are the best I've ever had and I don't even really like ribs! Beautiful atmosphere kids get to run around and play in the vineyard also love the unlimited cornbread bar and their stormy mountain red is one of our fav reds. Great place to take the family!

Tracie J.

Yelp
This place is great. We love coming here every time we're in Lake Chelan. The menu isn't huge, but my son swears by the chicken and mac & cheese combo he creates himself ala carte and the rest of us love the ribs. You can buy their wine by the bottle and enjoy it outside on the lawn in and among grape vines. With COVID restrictions, they are providing all food in to go containers, have all their tables socially distanced (and it's an outside establishment) and require everyone to wear masks. They have clean lines and one way systems to help people distance. The staff is really helpful, and the wine is great. Super relaxing way to have a good meal after a long day on the lake.

Yelp
My wife is a member here and has always enjoyed their wine. The gift shop changes regularly so always worth walking through while you sip wine. They also put in a TV and have sports on for your viewing pleasure. I'm not a wine drinker and go to all the wineries with my wife and this one is good for sitting around and relaxing. So why are they missing the 5th star, no beer
