One of the best atmosphere restaurants in the area. Shout out to our brilliant server Destiny! We sat out right by the trainline in a cool shady spot. Such a cool vibe, feels really authentic. We had an explore around the railway and trains around the restaurant - so cool. As for the food, it’s simply all so delicious. Nice authentic local ingredients, great portion sizes. The Bison here is incredible, the salmon is amazing and the yam fries are the best we’ve had in Canada! We ordered the Sharing Platter for Two, Bison Burger, Pork Schnitzel and Salon. Totally worth the $2 upgrade to yam fries. They also bring out complimentary baked bread with butter at the start- so lovely! After, I recommend taking a stroll down to the bridge and river just 80 meters from the restaurant. After a long hiking day around Lake Louise, this early evening dinner was just what we needed :)

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Lake Louise Railway Station & Restaurant, and it was an unforgettable experience! The highlight of my visit was the Bison Burger, which was absolutely delicious. The burger was perfectly cooked, juicy, and flavorful, with a unique blend of spices that truly made it stand out. The ambiance of the restaurant, set in a charming historic railway station, added a special touch to the meal. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring that my dining experience was top-notch from start to finish. If you're ever in Lake Louise, I highly recommend stopping by this restaurant for a meal you won't forget!

This is an incredible restaurant! The food is absolutely delicious, the location is very interesting and unique, and the service is superb. The strawberry rhubarb pie and yam fries are both delicious. This is a great and delicious restaurant that incorporates the train station in a way that is hard to forget.

Wow, I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant! I'll start with the most important factor, the food: it was incredible, from the buns to the mains, absolutely delectable. We got the bison meatballs as an appetizer (I could eat a full dish of just these), the Chef's Table d'Hote which was duck breast, and beef tenderloin. It was delightful to get a beef tenderloin that was actually prepared medium rare. Both dishes were superb. The atmosphere was delightfully cozy, the crackling wood burning fire was so charming (we went in winter), and seeing the trains rush by was magical. The interior was so lovely and well-maintained, it felt like being transported to a different time. The service was top-notch, and I can't think of a single bad thing to say. It was so good, we went back the next day to grab a quick lunch, service was again amazing, and just so glad we decided to check it out!

Google
The food on this visit wasn't great unfortunately, I'll start with the good stuff : the Server and Runner for our table were both pleasant, the platter for 2 was pretty good, especially the bison meatballs, the salmon in the main dish was tasty, the caeser salad was the best as well as the Tres Leche cake, it was really nice and fluffy. The service was fairly quick despite it being a busy night. The not-so-good stuff : the Bison Ribs were extremely tough and chewy, even after requesting a sharp steak knife to get through it I felt like I would choke on every bite as I chewed, the Strawberry Rhubarb pie looked lovely on the plate but ended up being very watery inside and it was served pretty cold inside rather than nice and warm like I expected, the final item I was disappointed with was the Triple Berry Mojito, it was quite sour.

Got seated right away without a reservation around 1 PM. Ordered the bison burger and duck mac and cheese. Food was nothing special. Building was not that nice either, but the outside was pretty. I wouldn't really come back here, but I guess there's limited food options around the area.

Google
One of the best food experiences ever, will definitely return for sure. So it starts with a great setting as they have renovated the old railway station and they have kept quite a few antiques as well, coupled with the background of mountains, it was already a great start. The service was excellent. Now onto the food: We ordered the appetizer platter for two, which had a bit of all available appetizers. It was great, it clearly showed how meticulously the chef had planned the flavours. The bruschetta was fresh and flavourful. meatballs were not chewy or dry and the gravy was pretty unique (different and better than anything I have ever had with a meatball). Shrimp was perfectly cooked and crisp. There was something with puff pastry with mushrooms and cheese, which probably took the most work to cook but was just average. Everything was made in a way that even when we took our time to eat, nothing got soggy or dry as the temperature changed. As it was my birthday, we ordered the chocolate icecream sandwich, which came with jam and fruits to provide relief from decadent chocolate flavour, again ate very well. Overall we were just wishing we were hungrier so we could have tried other dishes. The ratings for any place in Lake Louise village were not great, so we didn't have any hopes from this place, but it over delivered in all aspects. Had a very satisfying birthday thanks to them. I would definitely keep it as one of the places to go to celebrate special occasions moving forward.

Google
Beautiful restaurant. Friendly and courteous staff.. the food was amazing. We had the Bison Steak with salad and mushrooms and Arctic Char with fried yams & veggies. We will definitely come back on our next visit

Yelp
We ate at a number of good places during our one week stay in the Lake Louise and Banff area, but the Railway Station and Restaurant was the best overall experience. Food: everything was excellent. Standouts include the bread rolls with compound butter, BC salmon gravlax with citrus dill creme fraiche and grilled Alberta rib eye steak. Perfect charbroiling, yet tender and juicy with nice crunchy crispy onions on top. The vibe is home like and historical. Feels like you are having a family holiday meal. Extra points watching the trains pass by. Service was excellent. There's plenty of parking. Prices are reasonable given the quality of the food. Call for (403) 522-2600 reservations.

Cindy C.

Yelp
Service is provided by entire staff. They are attentive. Food and wine are good. We had the Bison Lasagna (excellent) and the Bison Ribs (tasty but sparse). The ambiance is the BEST. We sat outside and watched trains (if you don't like the train noise, recommend sitting inside). The Rocky Mountaineer was boarding and leaving during our dinner. An awesome sight to see!

Wendy K.

Yelp
There are not many restaurants in Lake Louise and for this particular one, you need a reservation. Service was very good, food was the best one so far in L Louise. The chairs are gigantic and that makes a bit uncomfortable to be sitting down to eat. The ladies washroom's door had a problem and my friend got locked up inside until we went to check on her and opened it from outside.

Lexi R.

Yelp
We dined in around 6:45pm and sat next to a window on the side where the train tracks, so we got to see the trains drive by which was cool. The complimentary warm bread they serve with the butter was soo delicious. I also thoroughly enjoyed the bison lasagna with the house salad. The lasagna had the perfect pasta to cheese to meat ratio. Loved the veggies in it too. It also comes with two pieces of garlic bread. My husbands schnitzel was a smidge dry but decent overall and well-seasoned. He upgraded his side to onion rings and demolished them! Our waitress was Destiny and she was so sweet and gave great recommendations!

Vince L.

Yelp
It's a lovely station turned restaurant. There are a number of artifacts placed throughout the place. Book in advance because it's usually packed. We had the bison lasagna and grilled salmon. The lasagna came with a piece garlic bread. The latter was cooked just right and came with grilled vegetables and mashed potatoes. All entrées come with a side. We opted for salad. Service was friendly and the location was interesting. Food was 4 stars bumped up a bit because of the novel environment.

Glenn G.

Yelp
Another gem off the beaten path that we found by researching guidebooks and review sites. We were staying at the nearby Lake Louise Inn and wanted a nice place to eat on our anniversary. We made reservations for an early dinner, which was a good idea since they filled up when we were there and had to turn away people who just showed up. The location was a little bit out of the way but that just added to the charm of dining in an old train station. We enjoyed the spinach artichoke dip and lasagna, and understand that their menu changes seasonally. When we were there, a few trains rolled by and a Rocky Mountaineer train actually stopped for passengers to disembark. Our waitress said we could explore other rooms in the building and soak in the history, which we did. Overall, an enjoyable experience.

Avner M.

Yelp
First night in Lake Louise and needed a place for dinner. The spots in our hotel did not have any reservations so of course using Yelp we found this place. Whats unique about this place is, for an old train station, they really tried to make the place look upscale which the decor was nice. The staff were warm and friendly and the food was pretty amazing. We started with the French Onion Soup which was good here. Still not the best we came across on this trip but pretty darn good. Next was the Bison Lasagna, this was yummy. The coolest thing is that the Train tracks run literally right outside their door. So, while you are enjoying dinner you can see, hear and feel the trains. Every so often a conductor will pop his head in the back door for a cup of coffee before moving on down the tracks. Everything we had here was amazing and I recommended this place to a several family and friends who did go and loved it as much as we did. I highly recommend this place, the food is amazing and I'm sorry I didn't get back for seconds.

Erin W.

Yelp
Pricey (but everything in the area is pricey) but good food. The ambiance is the best part. The old train station is very beautiful inside and it's well decorated.

Mike M.

Yelp
Good food with outstanding friendly service in a wonderfully restored train station. Unpretentiousness. Exceedingly rare ambience.

Camilla M.

Yelp
My review is just 3 stars because I had better expectations. I choose the bison burger, while my husband the bison ribs. I asked for a well done burger and it came not just well done, but some parts were a little bit burned. I ate it but it wasn't the best burger I ate, a little too dried. I enjoyed the yam fries. On the other hand my husband ribs were really good (juicy and well done). The service was ok and the restaurant was quiet that I liked it.

Mike G.

Yelp
Very neat place Chicken sandwich was burnt- not good Service was good. Strawberry rubarb pie was awesome

Peter H.

Yelp
We stopped by for post-hike cocktails (lol) and to take a look at the historic space. Seriously, they seemed to have as many historic prints as a museum! The building has sprawling wooden charm. I had a Canadian maple whisky drink, and though it was really, really sweet, I thought it featured the taste of the whisky well.

Allison O.

Yelp
Delicious food and incredible service. The scenery is unparalleled. The bison short ribs and the bison burger were both exceptional. The strawberry rhubarb pie is to die for!

Ceci L.

Yelp
We came here during covid restrictions so it was takeout only. We called ahead and it was about a 30min wait to pickup our seafood chowder, French onion soup & kids chicken fingers. This was one of the best seafood chowders I've ever had! It was creamy and piping hot with a generous amount of scallops, shrimp, salmon, and clams. The menu states there's "fresh herbs" and the dill really stood out to me. The French onion soup was tasty and not overly salty like others that I've had before. It had a ton of onions and the oven-baked 3-cheese blend was appetizing. Both soups were satisfying after a long day in the cold, but next time I'll order 2 seafood chowders because it's that good! The kids chicken strips was bigger than I expected. It came with 3 pieces of lightly seasoned chicken and a ton of fries. We also found 3 house made oatmeal cookies in our takeout bag which we didn't order, but it was a nice touch.

Lisa Y.

Yelp
We went there for dinner. The food is delicious. I'll go back for sure. The building is beautiful too.

Michael D.

Yelp
If I could give this place more stars, I would! The building itself is adorable! A historic 1910 railway station that is still operating and features a beautifully renovated/restored dining hall. But eating on the outside patio is truly the way to go as you get to see and hear the trains traveling by with a gorgeous mountain backdrop. We started with Old Fashioneds which were very reasonably priced at $14 CAD for a double. We were a little afraid the peach purée and other add-ins might overpower the whiskey, but the Makers Mark still shined through. We also had the coconut shrimp appetizer. Being Floridians, this is one of our favorite apps and we have high standards, and Railways beat our expectations. The coconut really comes through and they are perfectly cooked. Next, the fresh bread which has rye and other seeds might be some of the best we've ever had. Finally, the entrees...OMG! The Walnut Lentil Loaf is a flavor party in your mouth. One of the best vegan dishes we've ever had. Our waitress (who was amazing) said it reminds her of stuffing, and we had to agree. You can taste the lentil, carrot, celery, mushrooms, thyme, pepper, and other spices all working toward a classic comfort food taste that just melts your heart. It came with grilled veggies which were also delicious. Hubby got the onion rings which were battered and cooked perfectly. Finally, I got the special side of the day which was scalloped potatoes. They were the best scalloped potatoes I've ever had because they had dill in addition to the onion and cheese and that dill made such a huge difference by elevating and surprising a dish I've had dozens of times before. Truly can't say enough great things about this charming spot. It's a must visit if you're staying nearby!

Joe M.

Yelp
We had dinner in this old railroad station that was made into a restaurant. I tried the walnut lentil loaf. I like meat loaf and this is meatless. I gave it a try and it was excellent. The tomato sauce covering it was terrific. The verges were excellent with nice seasoning. Service was excellent. My wife,s pasta dish was also excellent. Nice experience. I think this is the best restaurant in the lake Louise village area. There are not that many. Parking is easy too.

Jenna M.

Yelp
Delicious dinner after a long day of hiking! We were a little late for our reservation but they let us dine anyway thank goodness. The atmosphere was warm wood and very inviting with a welcome fireplace. There are railway artifacts everywhere - if you're at all into trains this is your spot. I had a cocktail and my husband had a beer. Very tasty. The rolls that were brought out were warm and fresh. Despite all the hiking I wasn't too hungry so I had the soup of the day and a side Caesar. My husband had the bison burger. Everything was delicious and the burger was huge! We shared the strawberry rhubarb pie for dessert. The service was friendly and paced well. A wonderful dinner and experience!

Cathy P.

Yelp
We absolutely loved The Station. It is wonderfully warm and rustic inside, the service was great, and all of our food choices fantastic. Do come here. Better than some of the well known hotels close by.

Antoine B.

Yelp
I would surely go back for that seafood chowder and the great service! The passing trains are giving this place a particular "cachet"

Cory M.

Yelp
Been here twice while staying in LL. Always great service. Nice sitting area by the fireplace but if you want it, book reservations early. Food was great and the chef even whipped up some vegan options. Best drink in the place is the Maple Whiskey Sour. Would drive 30 miles out of the way to get another.

matthew f.

Yelp
The Railway Station seems to be off track. This restaurant is incredibly beautiful and charming with its historic decor. The service is also excellent. The reason I give it only 3 stars is that for the price, the food ranges from decent to subpar. We had salmon (average), yam fries (yum), bison ribs (over sauced and flavored as to be borderline inedible), mushroom and goat cheese flatbread (with an overly sweet balsamic reduction (?), and a bison burger (that was tough). When we came 5 years ago, we had a much better meal.

daniel p.

Yelp
We go here every year we visit Lake Louise and we love it. The food is maybe only four stars but the atmosphere and service is is a six so five, there you go. The pork schnitzel and French onion soup are standouts for us. Even better, last year the train pulled in while we were eating and it felt like we were back in time. Also, weird to say, but their Shirley Temple is really good? Like, very fresh; is that a thing?? 100% the best Shirley Temple I've ever tasted. My son loved it and was nice enough to share. Ask to sit in the main room with the high ceiling.

Sam P.

Yelp
After finding out you have to have a reservation at restaurant in lake Louise, we came to this place to have a meal. We were greeted with a tad too much attitude from the serve when asking about reservations for the train car part of the restaurant. She was totally oblivious on the meal for the night. There was a tad more back and forth with this server. She assumed my daughters diet. Proceeded to assume my financial budget for our meal. I definitely will be telling everyone about this experience every time someone mentions Banff or lake Louise.

Diane G.

Yelp
Wonderful lunch. We were the only customers and had a great time visiting with the staff. Salmon burger and house salad with delicious house dressing!

Neal L.

Yelp
Amazing find ! Hats off to Chef Sarah! The soup was creative and the bison burger is terrific!

Diego D.

Yelp
Lovely location, inside the old station. Menu offers so many appealing options that is hard to choose. Four people and we got the bison lasagna (x2), the bison ribs and the NewYork steak. Everything was delicious and service amazing, with lots of suggestions from our server that turned out to be great.

Claude D.

Yelp
We had an incredible dinner with a group of close friends in the train car. It was a cozy and iconic evening and everyone had a wonderful time. Food was excellent, service was great. Why 4 stars? Went back much later and ate in the station house. All was ok but lacking the same ambiance as the rail car.

Karen P.

Yelp
Loved the atmosphere of an old railroad station .... Service was excellent!! And the food was delicious .... The French onion soup was awesome and my husband had the Cornish game hen ...

Kermeka D.

Yelp
Wonderful food and great service! The freshly baked bread was so delicious and warm. When we complimented the bread, our server offered us more even though we were already eating our meal. This was definitely a great find as it is super vegetarian friendly. Many restaurants in this area are not so we were hard-pressed to find a dinner spot. We will definitely tell our friends travelling to Lake Louise to check out this spot. The curried vegetables were a little intense, but the veggie burger with onion rings and the veggie spring rolls were a hit!

Tiffany M.

Yelp
I wish I could go back in time when this was new, and I could board a train and see the Rockies before all the tourists arrived. But the good news is it's still standing and has been recycled into a family style restaurant. Our dining experience was not that impressive. My husband ordered the wonton soup that was too salty to eat. For his entree he had the coconut shrimp that looked like they came right out of a box. I had the daily pasta special that included a mushroom sauce and chicken. It was okay.

Cristina X.

Yelp
A great restaurant second to Lake Louise Chateau in this neighborhood. The entire restaurant is made with woods, including the house, bar, seats, and tables! It also gets a retro and classy feeling - a grand glass window behind the bar (see my pic), and the big fire place at the entrance. However, the menu is not retro tho. It's quite modern. We loved the salad with lemon poppyseed dressing, the bison burger, and dirty mac cheese. You must get the savory sauce coming with the yam fries! That sauce is simply addictive! Overall, great food place for lunch/early dinner. Super friendly staff.

Anuja K.

Yelp
This was my favorite restaurant out of all the places in Banff national park area. The sheer fact that they keep on pace with the world (with a vegetarian menu) is very impressive. Not just the menu was extensive, it was really good too. The diniing room overlooks a train track and there is a small creek flowing nearby. Very scenic (like every place in banff). We got the caprese salad, vegetarian chilli to share. The salad was amazing! Very fresh and perfectly seasoned. The chilly was hearty and a decent portion. For the main I got the grilled stuffed mushroom and my mom got the vegetable lasagna. The stuffed mushroom was very well done and grilled to perfection. Not overly cheesy and felt light and healthy. My mom was obsessed with her lasagna, she is usually underwhelmed that people dont broil the lasagna enough but their's had perfectly crisp edges and bubbling cheese. Again perfect amount of cheese. I would go here if I come to banff again.

willa f.

Yelp
We made advance reservations for a group of ten, and couldn't have been more pleased with our decision to eat here on Friday July 8. We were seated in a private room and surrounded by old photos and railroad antiques. Our server was outstanding and the food delicious. The menu is varied and we tasted just about everything on it. Everything was excellent.

Molly S.

Yelp
We were on vacation with friends. I liked this restaurant a lot! I had a bison rib and my hubby had a bison lasagna. Both were really good!

Kristi S.

Yelp
OPEN FOR LUNCH!!!!!! Yelp hours showed only dinner, but we had a wonderful lunch. Service was great and friendly. Extra fun to sit by window or on the porch as the trains rolled by. Beef stew is the thing to order! Nice NOT to be in the busy village area.

Paul G.

Yelp
A hidden gem. Historic wood restaurant and patio. Retired train cars. Mountain views. They have take out. We liked having drinks on the patio. They offer desert. For takeout try the frozen strawberry rhubarb pie. You could bike or walk here from lake Louise. Nice river adjacent.

A W.

Yelp
Railway Station Restaurant was a delightful surprise! The restaurant decor was spotless yet rustic. The service and food was terrific. Destiny, our server was attentive and friendly even though she had many tables to handle. We each started with delicious, warm home made multigrain bread and a Caesar salad which was beautifully served on a chilled metal plate. Hubby had the special which was duck with potatoes - he LOVED it and I had a fantastic summer tagliatelle pasta with cherry tomatoes and chicken - it was big enough for dinner the next night too! We split their lemon tart with delicious saucy berries on the side. Overall - one of the best meals we had while in the Canadian Rockies!

Sumit B.

Yelp
This restaurant was heavily shot in this Bollywood movie called Tum Bin (Without You) in 2001, and the rest around Banff, and Calgary. It was so scenic that I fell in love with Canada when I was a kid. Couldn't believe I was able to visit this place with my wife in 2019. The interior and exterior has a different level of class that you need to stay and absorb. Tried the French onion soup, mac and cheese, Onion rings, garlic toasted flat bread, firecracker calamari and the bison burger; every item was 5 star. The place seems like a museum maintained very neatly, the dining chairs are thr big ones. Their ambience, food and service is just impeccable, we were hosted by Caroline and she was extremely helpful and kind. 3 days in Banff were not enough for us this time, we surely are visiting again and so this restaurant, thank you

Brian O.

Yelp
After driving south through Jasper National Park, we stopped at The Station Restaurant located in the old Lake Louise Train Station built in 1910. My wife had the bison burger with sweet potato fries and I had one their specials of the day, beef stroganof. Both of our meals were delicious. Service was outstanding. Interesting displays about the station's history.

Ed M.

Yelp
Wish this was in Hawaii. Service was great. Our waitress Lori was very friendly. The food was one of the best meals we had on this vacation. Full range of food from burgers to filet mignon. My son ordered the Mac and cheese with pork and devoured it. They had a three sausage meal with apple chutney sauce. So incredibly tasty. I want to eat it again. Trains still pass by right outside the restaurant. It's the oldest building in the Lake Louise area. Lots of character. Price came up a bit high but all worth it. And it's in Canadian so we hopefully get a break on the conversation. Highly recommend, especially after reviewing the other choices in the area.

Mahdi D.

Yelp
Amazing meal and ambiance, highly recommended! The prime rib and elk was our favorite!!

James F.

Yelp
Among the best restaurants and experiences in the country. Do not miss it. Beautiful furniture, amazing food, all in the cozy comfort of a converted old train station.

Mendy H.

Yelp
3.5 stars - Ordered a couple of appetizers which were all good portions for the price. To be honest I wasn't wowed by anything in particular, but this is still one of the top 3 meals I had during my stay at Lake Louise!

Joe W.

Yelp
4 star reviews seem pretty far off. Food was very mediocre. Much it the table ordered burgers. Not asked how we want them cooked. All came out well done. Pasta was not good at all. Duck tacos were ok. Very warm in the restaurant. Almost left due to this. Wine by the glass was almost entirely Canadian. I tried the pinot and it was not good. Sangiovese was better (only non-Canadian wine by the glass). About 4 helicopters landed right next to building during dinner during which all conversation had to stop due to noise. Service was actually good but heard some complaints at other tables about mixed up orders. I get the sense there is a lot of over-priced restaurants in the area.

Richard S.

Yelp
This was the second best meal we had in Lake Louise with the Post Hotel (at triple the price taking top honors). When it came to desert, however, the Strawberry Rhubarb tart beat anything we tried at The Post or Fairmont Hotel. Lake Louise Railway Station, (LLRS) does a great French Onion Soup. For a light meal a soup and the Spinach Salad is a good choice and value. The bison lasagna was just O.K. I tried a bite of a family members salmon, super fresh and not as fishy as most wild salmon, but for the price point the portion was smaller than what I expected. Our server was personable, helpful, entertaining and professional. If you want a cappuccino with your Strawberry Rhubarb tart you are out of luck as they only have drip coffee, but this is a small sacrifice to make for such an amazing desert.

Teofila R.

Yelp
Blended red wine was good!!! Had two glasses! Bread warm and plenty of butter! I ordered the shrimp appe! It was so good! Seasoned, cooked, plentiful, to perfection!!!! Duck spring rolls! OMG! So delectable with a nice green ruff age!!! Sauce was ehh. Chocolate sticks as a end of meal treat!!! Nice!!!! Toot toot!

Sapna M.

Yelp
Great option in Lake Louise! Building was very unique as a converted train station (with trains still running on the tracks next to it!). Cozy fireplace warms up the place with large windows. Food was great - and many vegetarian options. I had the caprice salad which was very fresh and the mac & cheese which was hearty after a long outdoor day but not too heavy which was welcome! Service was also on point - very friendly and helpful. Recommend a visit when you're in town!

Nathan M.

Yelp
We went here with a large group (30+) for a wedding rehearsal dinner and were thoroughly unimpressed with the Railway. Food was bland, service was awful, and the price was way too high for what was offered. We were given a fixed menu between chicken, pork chop, and salmon, but we would have been better off with shoe leather. The chicken was boiled chicken breast, the pork chop was overdone, and the salmon portion was tiny. Dessert was no better as the chocolate cake tasted like it was chalky and over-sweetened. The only saving grace was the train passing by kept the kids interested and distracted us from the poor meal and grumpy and overwhelmed servers.

Bob C.

Yelp
Glad we found this place. Came back from a big alpine hike/climb and was famished. Love that it's a active train station/old train station. Hiliariously expensive but that's to be expected. Service was great, food was great.
