Great fishing options around this beautiful lake…Blue Gill and small mouth Bass plus Channel Cats. This lake is a jewel in the midst of Topeka! We needed to extend our camping stay and they were more than helpful…even finding a discount that could be applied. Forever grateful.

Went kayaking here instead of the Kansas river due to the river being so low, it was really nice and the fish were extremely active. Got to see a bald eagle grabbing a fish around the garden area. Docks everywhere and boat ramps made it convenient for taking breaks to do some leg stretching.

Plenty of parking, handicap access, air conditioned, 2 refrigerators and a stove, pretty decent bathrooms ( but 1 at a time only). Fireplace, but I'm not sure if it's functional. Plenty of tables and chairs for you to set up. Covered small patio in back for guests who need to step outside a moment ( no smoking in the building). Good place for casual gatherings.

Lake Shawnee is one of my favorite places in Topeka. I have spent a lot of time here, playing with my kids, walking my dog, fishing, riding my bicycle, and enjoying the garden. Bring your kids, your significant other, your dogs, and/ or your friends.
