Oakland Brunch Spot the Peach Opens With Chef Juan Stevenson From Georgia | Eater SF

"The new restaurant occupies a longtime, much‑loved café site on Lakeshore Avenue; that prior café space has been reimagined for this project by design firm Studio Kosma as part of a larger effort to integrate the concept into the local neighborhood." - Dianne de Guzman

Small cafe and a great spot for a sandwich. Beef on weck was excellent as was the best cuban sandwich. A special thanks to Cory? (I’m so bad with names so this may not be right). He took the time to sit and chat with my 95 year old mom and made her feel really special. Easy access for my mom and her walker.

Google
Been wanting to stop and finally did. Did not disappoint. Wings were good and crisp. Baja chicken wrap was very good. Steak sandwich was cooked to perfection. Three items off the menu were really good. Prices are reasonable. Staff was courteous and always checking up on us.

We stopped by after seeing Niagara Falls. The ratings were very positive so we gave it a try. So glad we did! My husband had the French onion soup; I had the shrimp creole soup. Both were amazing! Also ordered the Italian Beef and Cuban sandwiches. Amazing! The pic shows half of each sandwich (we shared). Lastly we ordered the cinnamon bun and limoncello cheesecakes. The limoncello could have been more lemony but the cinnamon cheesecake was delicious! Highly recommend the Lake Shore Cafe.

Google
Such a cute little cafe. Great food and company. Corey took the time to chat and make us feel welcomed at the bar. The other girls were very nice. Both my friend and I had the French Onion soup, there could have been more onion pieces, I had two, but the broth had nice flavor depth. I had the hamburger and seasoned crinkle fries.. ate it all before my friend finished her soup 🤣. Will visit again we can come back to Buffalo from Canada:)

Google
It's a small, quaint restaurant. But the service and food is great. My friends and I have been there several times and each and every time the service is on target, food is of generous portions and very tasty! We will always be back.

Google
I have driven by this location countless times but never went in. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in, the inside is completely updated and super clean! The food was tasty, service was friendly. I didn't get a picture of the appetizer: bacon wrapped onion peels, but oh wow! A great tasting bite! Price point is competitive/reasonable. Definitely recommend and would come back!

Google
The Italian beef sandwich was advertised as top 10 in wny and they ain’t lying. Great flavor and texture in every bite. Perfect amount of cheese. Fry’s came out great. Asked for seasoned and they were perfect. Service was fantastic. Made sure everything was great and quick. Will definitely be back

Google
Stopped in for a fish fry Friday lunch. Fish fry was fantastic. Perfectly battered and not greasy. Cole slaw was delicious. Waitress, Hailey, was friendly and personable, as she always is. One of our go to places. We have tried much of the menu and never leave disappointed. Keep up the great food and service!

Dena M.

Yelp
Cassie was a great waitress. The food was fabulous. Nice portions and had a cozy home feeling. We enjoy finding these out of the ordinary gems when we vacation. So much better than chain restaurants The french onion soup was top notch and the Italian sandwich and fries were great. If we are back this way again, we will happily visit this jewel again.

Yelp
WOW! Stopped in randomly passing through! Service was awesome! I have to commend their Beef on Weck! It is an absolute 10/10! Also had the wings and some fries! And a to go box! If you're in the area please try the Beef on Weck!!!

Yelp
As always, our meal was excellent. My wife had the fish fry and it was good but I went there specifically for one of my favorites, the Italian Beef sandwich. It's one of the few places you can get one and it's delicious. Service is always friendly and food comes out quickly. It's a nice small place with good reasonably priced food. I look forward to going back soon.

Yelp
Well here I am again, starving and went to the Lake shore Cafe, (my Friday evening go to). I had the Italian Beef Sandwich. If you haven't had it yet you are definitely missing out! The service was on point, Nick the bartender is very personable and funny. He is very attentive and makes you feel so welcome. I'm around loudness all day and week and it's nice to go out for a meal where you can hear each other talk. The ambiance is warm and inviting and the staff is very friendly.

Yelp
On the way elsewhere a few months ago, I couldn't help but notice the full parking lot at this little nondescript restaurant. That's usually a good sign, so I brought it up for our ladies' monthly lunch, and we were all so pleased with the whole experience. It's by no means a fancy place, but the decor is pleasant enough, and nice and clean. Service was very good. Food was excellent. Fair warning: parking could be a challenge. The lot is fairly small and awkwardly shaped. Our soup aficionados were thrilled with the French onion, which Lake Shore proudly claims as one of the top 5 in WNY, and rightly so. The grilled cheese sandwiches were absolutely huge (pretty much twice the size of a normal grilled cheese), and pronounced delicious. My Cajun shrimp tacos were the best I've had in a long time - maybe ever. Loaded with shrimp, and not those teeny weeny things. Nice, plump, flavorful. Topped with shredded lettuce and cheese, cilantro, pico and Buffalo aioli, they had the perfect amount of spice. I could only manage to finish two, so the third was destined to be the next day's lunch. Our server brought a sheet of foil as well as a box. She said wrapping it in foil would help keep it from getting too soggy. She was right. It was almost as good the following day. It's those little thoughtful touches, along with the great food, that will ensure a return visit from our little lunch bunch.

Yelp
The Food is great here. I had the Tempura Haddock fish fry . It was light and tasty. I liked the Mac salad and the Mayo coleslaw. Also had a cup of the French onion soup. Hubby had Cajun broiled fish with hand cut fries. Hubby has an egg allergy so NO slaw or Mac for him. They did substitute roasted cauliflower instead. He was happy. Service was good. Restaurant is small but still ample seating of booths or tables. They do let you rsvp

Yelp
Great food. Had gluten free items labeled on menu. Super helpful. Nice service clean facility.

Yelp
The food was really delicious, the bartender Nick was extremely friendly and attentive. Great little place for dinner and drinks. May have been one of if not the best fish fry we've ever had.

Yelp
Best Cuban sandwich I have ever had, and I even dined in Miami and that one was good. But this was another level. Service was great, I would recommend this place to everyone.

Yelp
My initial review focused on the fact that Fox News was playing on the bar TVs, which really detracted from our overall experience. Within an hour or so of posting that review, I received a response from the owner explaining that it was against their policy to tune into any station that displayed partisan politics, especially in these contentious times. I'm taking him at his word and now I can focus on the reason we dined there in the first place. This isn't the first time we've eaten there and every time the food has been very good and the staff has been wonderful. Tonight was no exception...the fish fry was perfect and rather than getting the sides on the same plate where everything co-mingles, the cole slaw and mac salad were in separate bowls, nice and chilled and not making the fish coating soggy. Both were delicious as were the fries. The wife ordered the buffalo cauliflower (medium) as an appetizer....I know... cauliflower yuck! As it turned out, I ended up eating most of them and enjoyed every bite. Our server was friendly and efficient...it was obvious that she knew how to keep things running smoothly as she gave helpful directions to the other workers as the dining room. I'm glad that the owner reached out to me, as we really like this place and didn't want to drop it from our dining out rotation for such an avoidable reason!

Yelp
I just found out about Lake Shore Cafe. They had great French onion soup! It was intimate & cute with a nice sized bar.

Yelp
A nice cozy restaurant. Fish fry was excellent. Great French onion soup. Creme brulee for dessert was delicious as well.

Yelp
A true gem! If you can visit, you should. We've gone 5 or 6 times now and we haven't hit a snag. This is a relatively small full-service restaurant. With constant next level service and food that always satisfies. The menu is pleasingly limited. Their not trying the ancient trick of creating and menu that is pages long listing the same basic ingredient 4 or more ways. Instead you'll see that there's a nice spectrum of dishes that would seem to have something for most palates. We've had the Tacos a couple of times which are generous and delectable. All are good but the short ribs are our favorite. We've had the Burger, Italian beef sandwich, Firecracker shrimp, Stuffed banana peppers and more without a hitch. If we had to recommend something specific it would be the Bavarian soft pretzel and the Friday Tempura beer battered fish. There's good Friday Fish everywhere. We're relatively new to this area so we're no experts BUT... If you appreciate a tasty, stick to the fish, crispy not greasy version of this great local tradition you'll be pleasantly surprised. The pretzel is well, kinda ridiculous. (See pic) It's huge and tasty and so hot (temp) when it hits the table it always a treat. The dipping sauces are not the usual basic cheese and mustard sauces but a few steps above that. It's not only good but it's fun to eat. Add the wonderful service (always), the reasonable pricing to value and how clean and well run this place is and you're gonna be happy, very happy.

Yelp
Came in on a Friday around 4:30pm and no problem getting seats...2 of us got the battered fish frys and both of us really liked the fish...It had a perfect crispy batter on it (not oily), and inside the haddock was fresh, fluffy, and tender...Perfect really....Dad got the Cesar salad and said that it was good (he gets them all the time)....We got the bacon wrapped onion petals for an appetizer and everyone liked them...I thought the French Onion soup was decent maybe kind of average....The one thing I was not a big fan of and it dropped my rating from 5 to 4 stars was the macaroni salad and the coleslaw...I'm not a fan of non-creamy coleslaw but I thought it had a funny taste like it had been sitting for a while...My sister didn't think so though....The macaroni salad was dry and kind for clumped together like it had been sitting and didn't have much for taste...I got the seasoned fries and they were average.

Yelp
Had to stop at the Lake Shore Cafe after all the great reviews. Very personable and informative server Ashley. Nice to know 2 brothers are co- owners and this is a family run cafe. Loved the contemporary, trendy, "wood" vinyl flooring and grey colored walls. The food?! Yes it was very good. I enjoyed the rock fish tacos. Crispy, breaded, fish on top of cabbage slaw snd topped with some cream sauce. Two tacos. Not enough quantity-wise to satisfy a hungry tummy. So I got tempted to try an appetizer.... That French onion soup was calling my name! An excuse to eat a little more lol. Actually, that French onion soup was delish. Cheesy and savory! Saw it in the "specials" board and glad I did! Oh check their FB page because their specials change per Ashley. My friend ordered the Italian beef sandwich. He said it was tasty. Size-wise it wouldn't have been enough if it wasn't for the seasoned crinkle fries on the side. We had a few drinks - $5 per beer and $6.50 glass of wine, added up to $16 approximately. The total bill with drinks was $54.00 before tip. I would say prices are a bit higher these days - maybe COVID related. But still no complaints. We did enjoy dinner tonight at this cafe.

Yelp
You would think that the Lake Shore Cafe would be located next to Lake Erie with a wonderful view of sunset, but it's not. Despite the fact that through the window you can see only busy Route 5, the inside the restaurant is nice and quiet. The place is brand new. The combination of colors is soothing and relaxing. The menu is simple. With the list of appetizers, sandwiches and salads, it's easy to make a decision what to order. Whether it is lunch or dinner, there is something for everyone. The daily specials are also an attractive addition. Check what's available in advance using popular social media. Friday is for fish fry. My choice of grilled chicken breast sandwich was perfect. I only had a half portion, but it was enormous. The marinated meat was perfectly grilled. With pepperoni, provolone, roasted tomato and arugula it was tasty and filing. The regular fries came hot and nicely spiced with salt and pepper. The Shrimp and Grits from an appetizer specials menu was also an interesting culinary experience. With hot oil and an unique mix of spices we enjoy every spoonful of it. The traditional fish fry was very good. The portion of flaky battered haddock filet was generous. It came with macaroni salad, coleslaw and choice of french fries. The macaroni salad was classic with the right proportion of all ingredients. We liked it a lot. Unfortunately, the coleslaw wasn't good at all. Hopefully, the chef will go through the recipe again. Not sure it was too much of vinegar or salt or both. I truly enjoyed my dinner. The service was solid and straight forward. The atmosphere possible could be better if some of the lights were dimmable. It was just too bright in my opinion. Next time, if available, I would choose one of the booths with a pretty fixtures hanging over. If you are in the area or going to the nearby Woodland Beach State Park, stop by at Lake Shore Cafe. Try their food in a friendly environment or just grab a delicious sandwich for a picnic later. I heard their cheesecakes are divine.

Yelp
I came here a few weeks ago and got a full Italian Beef sandwich to go with some fries and a cup of coffee. I initially wanted to work from here and they had some really convenient outlets out front, but the wifi was still coming soon. I ate half of the Italian beef sandwich right away and it was delicious with melted cheese, pepperoncini and it gave the sandwich a welcome and delightful kick. The other half I had for lunch the next day (in the oven) and found it pretty good the day after as well. Preliminary review, I'll definitely update it next time I'm here and try more of the menu items and hopefully the customer wifi will be up and running next time.

Yelp
When they just opened, we were at Lake Shore Cafe thanks to Yelp. When we recently had to come up with a suggestion for a lunch with a group of friends, Lake Shore was what popped up in our mind right away. We called ahead of time and they rearranged some tables to accommodate a group of 8. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. We got water, waiting for everybody to arrive. The service was quick, we did not have to wait long for our food. I choose to have the Italian Beef sandwich again. It was really hot when it arrived; lots of beef with melted cheese and pepperoncini. I saw some other menu options I would like to try, so I will be back here.

Yelp
Mother Daughter dinner out and what a great place to end up! Lake Shore Cafe is a family owned and run restaurant by brothers Glen, a Veteran and Chris, a Chef who has been creating for over 25 years. We got to taste some of those creations , or as many as we could and took some home for later. We started with tempura battered string beans which came with a slightly spicy ranch style dipping sauce. The beans were fresh, whole and still had a bite to them, and the tempura batter was perfect!! Not soggy or falling off or oily , just dry and crispy with that lovely tempura taste. On the specials board we spotted sweet potato pancakes with pineapple butter and pecans!!!! Yup that's what you read and if you need to you can go back and re read that and I'll wait .... Delicious!!!!! Moist and fluffy and with the perfect amount of sweetness. I thought they might need syrup when I first saw them but I couldn't have been more wrong. Not a dry bite in need of anything, they were so good just as they were. Daughter had the roast beef sandwich which came with a huge amount of fries and three containers, au jus, horseradish and ketchup. The roast beef dinner was described as "Delicious, hearty, au jus was just right, kimmelweck was just right. Fries were hot, crispy and quite satisfying for a French fry craving" Mom had potato and sautéed onion pierogis. They were sized for two bites each. Nicely fried with perfectly sautéed onions. The dough was substantial not for those who prefer it to be more like a crepe dough. Ricotta cheesecake !!!! And you get to choose the sauce so I went with strawberry. So velvety and the crust was the kind I love to save for the last few bites because it's crunchy and thick. Chocolate chunk cheesecake with caramel and chocolate sauce!!!! Every bite had a chunk of chocolate and every bite was covered with caramel and chocolate sauce. The same crunchy thick crust. What did we bring home??? Giant Bavarian soft pretzels with honey mustard sauce and home made queso sauce, which was perfectly spiced, not too hot. So giant in fact they didn't fit in the box , they would likely need a pizza box. Ashley our server, had perfect timing for all the courses. Empty plates were removed and beverages were checked on, and the pretzels which were ordered to take home when we first arrived, were ready with the check!!! We were even surprised by a visit from Chris the owner to see how everything went with the meal. Something of a lost art I think having the owner or Chef check on the customers. Definitely well worth the drive and if you live close by, lucky you! I definitely think it's going to be the go to area favorite cafe!!

Yelp
I stopped in to pick up my Yelp Elite meal and decided to add a soup, which is what I'll be reviewing. When I called to place my order, I asked the employee what soups they had that day and they had ham and bean and cream of tomato. I opted for the cream of tomato. It was a semi-rainy day and I felt like that would be the perfect accompaniment to the Yelp meal, which was the Italian Beef Sandwich, fries and a glass of wine. Read my Yelp Event review for those items. The creamy tomato soup was soup-erb. It was the right thickness and although at first when I saw it had chunks of tomatoes and also celery in it, I was a little apprehensive. When I tasted the first bite, that apprehensive quickly left me. It was delicious. If this soup wasn't soup, and was more saucy it would be phenomenal over pasta as well. Based off the soup, I can't wait to go back and try more items. When picking up my order, the employees were very friendly and cashed me out quickly. The cafe looked cute, although, I didn't look around like I should have, but from what others have posted, I like the vibes. The outside is welcoming as well. There is construction on the street outside of where you enter the parking lot, but it had ended for the day when I went to go pick up my food, so it wasn't an issue.

Yelp
A pre-Mother's day treat, I visited the cafe with a friend for lunch. When I walked in, I thought the space was small, but we turned the corner and saw a larger space with both tables and booths available for seating. We were greeted and sat immediately. I feel the menu options, flavors and offerings, are best suited for adults, not children. A pleasant surprise was seeing gluten-free options like the bacon-wrapped onion petals, nachos, wings, two entree-sized salads & street tacos. Trust me when I say, "get the bacon-wrapped onion petals!" Bacon + tender onion + ooey-gooey melted cheese = HEAVEN! My friend said the tacos were messy (aka perfect) and so filling, she could only eat 2 of the 3. Daily specials and dessert options are posted on a board near the bar/entrance, as well as social media. Glen, one of the owners, came to our table at the end of our meal, to greet and thank us for coming, find out if this was our first visit, and see if the meal met our expectations (which it did!). The decor reminds me of being on the beach in Florida. The color scheme is ocean blue and cream, with nautical details... it's the perfect escape when the Buffalo weather gets dreary. I look forward to my next visit!

Yelp
We were excited to see a new place open on Route 5. We decided to order some take out to see what this place was all about. I have to say I was impressed that a newly opened place got the take out times down perfectly. Our food was hot and fresh after a 10 minute drive home. I can't wait to try and dine in sometime soon. In addition to their menu they post specials everyday on their Facebook page. Some of the best fries around. They are a cross breed of steak fries and crinkle cut, super crispy, even after the drive home. The Italian beef sandwich was flavorful and the addition of the banana peppers was spot on. The firecracker shrimp crispy and had a nice sized portion. The sauce was tasty and had just a little bit of kick. The bacon wrapped onion petals were the star IMO. Crispy bacon with an onion cooked to perfection with a BBQ dipping sauce. It was the perfect way to end an evening.

Yelp
First of all, forget the address, forget Blasdell. If you are coming from Buffalo, Lake Shore Cafe is on the left on Rt 5, just a short way past Lackawanna. There is some road repair or something going on, but plenty of room for pulling into their parking lot. The bulk of my review is in the captions. Lyn had the Italian Roast Beef sandwich, and Ron had the 1/2 pound burger. The roast beef and the chicken (see photo) sandwiches were Yelp Elite perks, so were half-orders. We also ordered the Loaded Nachos and the Banana Peppers. They don't have any root beer, only Coca-Cola products. Lyn had the Yelp Elite perk of Pinot Noir, and I the Merlot. Think Ron settled for a regular Coke. Hosts and server were friendly and courteous. Though they didn't introduce themselves, both owners (separately) stopped by the table to ask how everything was. Our server (Ashley, I think we were told) was most polite and helpful. Lake Shore Cafe has a fish fry -- I think it is always on the menu. In all, an enjoyable place to stop for lunch or supper. Dine in or take out.

Yelp
We stopped at Lakeshore Cafe for a drink and bite to eat. This is a new restaurant and actually today is their one month anniversay. We ordered a beverage, the Italian Beef sandwich with fries and a hamburger with fries. The drinks and food came out so quickly! The beef sandwich had a charred roll, peppers, beef and cheese. It had just the right amount of salt and spice from the pepperoncini. The beef itself was tender and full of flavor. The charred roll made the sandwich. It creates a flavor that really compliments the other ingredients. The fries were seasoned but you can also order plain. They were cooked perfectly so that the insides were soft and tender and the outside crisp with the right amount of seasoning. The burger was so good with many toppings to choose from. The bacon on it was crisp, tomatoes and lettuce were fresh and the jalapeños were spicy. Beef patty was made to order and cooked to medium rare. It was flavorful and juicy. You can tell they use fresh, quality ingredients. Can't wait to stop back in to try other menu items!

Yelp
I love supporting local businesses especially newer ones during these tough times. I received the Yelp elite perk but ordered some takeout to go as well. The hostess on the phone was really sweet. There were options such as crispy, extra crispy, and saucy for the wings and I'm so glad she offered them to me! I ordered the lemon garlic extra crispy wings and the fish fry because it was a Friday. The wings were crispy and charred to perfection. I would definitely order them again. The lemon flavor was a hit although I would've liked more of the garlic flavor. The fish fry was also great! It amazes me how I have never had fish fry before. It was a little soggy by the time I got home but no biggie, I just popped it in the oven. I would definitely return and try other things here!

Yelp
Such a fun little stop! Great menu selection, found lots that I would have eaten. Everything was really good! I got the grilled chicken sandwich - chicken was great tasted like it really was right off a girl (cuz it was!). Bread was perfect too, which - and maybe this is picky - there's something about a bread that has enough structure to hold and absorb your sandwich without disintegrating - and this bread was perfect. Hubby got the fish sandwich (with cheddar on it!) and raved. Owner stopped by the table to say they just opened recently after the building was empty for 16 years - so glad to be able to support them. Great menu and we were able to find lots of choices we would have been happy to try!

Yelp
I came here for lunch and brought some friends! The staff was very friendly and helpful. I also love that they had a board of daily specials! They had so many options on that alone it was hard to decide! - I started with one of two soups they had that day- chicken tortilla. It was super delicious and full of flavor! - We also ordered a couple appetizers - the bacon wrapped onion petals and firecracker shrimp. My only complaint with the onion petals is that there weren't enough of them haha! The firecracker shrimp definitely has a kick so be prepared (also very delicious)

Yelp
My husband and I met s friend for lunch today. Not only were our lunches delicious, but our waitress was entertaining! I ordered one of the specials; a Turkey Melt. It's sliced turkey, tomato, bacon and melted Buffalo "wing" cheese on toasted sourdough bread. My sandwich was quite hot(temperature-wise), and a bit hot from the spicy cheese as well. It was delicious, and very large. (Yes, 1/2 of it came home.). The sides choices are a cup of soup, French fries, regular or seasoned, or a side salad. I picked the side salad, to which our waitress said; "sensible choice". It was a very nice side salad, although the lettuce was crisp, it did not look really fresh. We were offered desserts, but not one of us could even think about it. Addendum: Tuesday morning. Leftover sandwich was still great, although a bit wet on the bottom from sitting overnight in the fridge. I did not reheat it. Still had plenty of heat from the cheese.

Yelp
I decided to come with 3 of my friends to check this place out. I appreciated the big sign or else we would have definitely drove past it. Once we walked in, we were immediately greeted and seated. They have booth seating and table seating depending on your preference. Dining is spaced out with enough room to walk to your table without bumping into people and also allowing social distance. I ordered the cheese and potato perogis and got them as an appetizer for the table. Everyone loved them. We also got an order of the firecracker shrimp. They were a fan favorite. Perfect amount of heat and sweet ratio. I ordered wine and tried the White Zinfandel and the Moscato. I don't usually drink Moscato because it's too sweet for me but theirs tasted more like a slightly sweet Chardonnay which was perfect for me. The main event did not disappoint. I got the street tacos. I loved the fact that I was able to get different ones. I tried each of the meat tacos. The chicken taco was good. The shrimp taco had a great flavor. But that short rib taco was something special . 1 friend got the BBQ wings. They were very saucy and huge. Another friend got the chicken fajita wrap. It was stuffed so well she was only able to finish half. My other friend got the lemon pepper broiled shrimp. It had a great flavor, not overpowering. She said the mac salad was ok but she really enjoyed the cole slaw. I am also a huge fan of their fries. Crinkle cut fries can be tricky when you go to restaurants but these were cooked and seasoned to perfection. Not salty, well done, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I don't go out that way for anything, so I will have to make a conscious effort to make my way there again because we really enjoyed ourselves.

Yelp
I had the Italian beef sandwich with seasoned fries and I was floored by the taste! It was packed with meat and the flavors marinated oh so we'll together. The fries weren't anything mind blowing, but they were crinkle-cut which you don't find many places and I liked them enough. They have a few choices of fry options as well. The space looks nice and I definitely look forward to dining in sometime in the future.

Yelp
I drive past here all the time and decided randomly to stop in for lunch one day while running errands. I was greeted by the owner who was very friendly. It was pretty slow inside, but I was there around 230. My waitress was very nice and recommended the burger and it didn't disappoint!

Yelp
Pros- Fresh homade food Friendly staff Cons- ? First time here, In the door we found the establishment to be very clean and bright. The staff is friendly and the menu has lots of great choices. I ordered The Steak Sandwhich with spinach, mushrooms and cheese cooked medium rare with seasoned fries which was very, very good. Bottom Line- Good food, friendly staff.

Yelp
So mixed reviews on this place....First the positive; Food is really good. You can tell that there is a lot of care placed in the presentation and flavor profile of the dishes. French Onion soup was outstanding. Perfectly broiled and rich in stock. Bavarian pretzel appetizer was large, well baked with a delightful cheese sauce that was definitely house made (which is a good thing). Spicy and smooth. Definitely a must get. The Cuban sandwich I got was presented nicely, However the meat was old and you could taste it. Severely diminishing what the sandwich could have been. With fresh meats I'm sure it would have been fantastic. The Fajita wrap was amazing. Good combination of flavor and heat, well constructed and served with a generous portion of fries, it is a win for a great lunch or dinner option. Now to the negatives; The service was horrendous. We walked in slightly after opening. The first person to greet us was a young woman named Hailey. Completely unfriendly right off the bat. No smile, no eye contact...in fact I think she may have even rolled her eyes when we asked for a table. I'm talking this person oozed disdain. Took us to our table and threw the menus down and walked away without saying a word. I assumed at this point this was the hostess so didn't really make a big deal about it. But no, she was our "server". I do this in quotations because throughout our service, another woman whose name was MacKenzie touched our table more than she did. Mackenzie was fantastic. Hailey did bring over our drinks...complete with side eye and haughtiness. I literally felt like I had wronged this girl in another life by the way she was treating us. This has to be the owners daughter or something because there is no way this person can treat customers like this on a daily basis and get away with it. Simply unbelievable in the hospitality business. But despite all that, I would still recommend this place. The food being worth the treatment is still up for debate.

Yelp
I had a very good experience here. The food was very good. High quality food cooked properly. The host was polite and quick. The waitress was also polite. The inside was very very clean which I appreciate. Good music and good environment. I would recommend and I will be going back for sure.

Yelp
Stopped for lunch today and it was delicious! Started with the firecracker shrimp and stuffed banana peppers. Both were excellent. Then had the short rib street tacos. They were also excellent. 3 decent sized tacos. Place was very clean and had a decent sized parking lot. Looks like they possibly have outdoor seating in the nicer weather.

Yelp
We just finished at Woodlawn beach and was looking for something to eat for lunch. After spending all day in the sun, you don't want something overly heavy like pizza and wings, so when we seen this place nearby on Yelp, we rushed right over. It's literally right down the street. What a pleasant surprise this restaurant was! They have a decent menu of sandwhiches and entrees... I'm not sure I would call it a cafe, it's more like a diner. But it has a very modern, beautiful interior and the waitress was very attentive and seemed to enjoy her job. I'm not sure if they get busy through the day, but we went around 3pm on a Monday and we were only there with one other couple. Now then, let's talk food. We got the cherry pepper shrimp as an appetizer. Which was SO SPICY! It was delicious. So delicious that I was almost able to ignore how sloppy the plating was. My husband would have licked the plate if it wasn't frowned upon. Then, we both got the street tacos. I chose the shrimp and they were the most perfection of street tacos. Stuffed with 5 full size shrimp per taco, covered with spicy stewed tomatoes (so flavorful!!) And then topped with a buffalo aioli. I could eat these every day of my life. So light yet filling. Perfect for a beach day.

Yelp
We enjoyed a nice dinner at Lake Shore Cafe. Upon on entering we were greeted warmly and offered a choice of seating. There were regular tables and booths in the dining area along with high top tables in the bar area. Once seated our server Hailey quickly took our drink orders and once delivered went over the specials and answered our questions on the main menu. My husband ordered the grilled burger and I got the Cajun chicken salad. His burger, which he requested to be rare actually appeared to be rare. I think he included every topping they had listed. It looked really good. My salad was great. All the greens were crisp and fresh. Not sure what kind of apple was used but it was nice and crunchy. The chicken had a nice Cajun kick without being overpowering. The best part was the warm bacon dressing which was served on the side. I appreciate that since I don't like my salad getting soggy. We also had the opportunity to try the Italian beef sandwich and the grilled chicken sandwich (outstanding) along with both the plain and seasoned fries. All good choices. Besides experiencing the good food and good service we also got to talk to the owners, brothers Chris and Glenn. Both very friendly and welcoming. One suggestion, I'd add a hook inside the ladies room to use to hang your bag or coat. Check this place out! 2021-69

Yelp
We came here for the Elite meal, but my hubby and son also ordered for lunch. Disappointed we didn't eat in because the place looked fabulous. They have a menu board for specials as well. We were greeted by one of owners and we had a great conversation. They are very dedicated to their business. I order the chicken sandwich and my hubby and son ordered the italian beef sandwich. I also had the torilla soup - so good and full of flavor. Sandwiches were awesome and tender. I think this is a great spot on Route 5. If you are out at the beaches and looking for food on the way home, great place to stop. We will be back to eat in and try some specials.

Yelp
I called at the end of my work day as I hadn't had lunch and I was very hungry so I hoping for the best. I got the best for sure when I called they where very nice and accommodating as it was going to take a while until I got there. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and seasoned French fries. When I walked in it was small cozy area and the table for pick up was close by. I was welcomed by multiple people walking in and also had multiple people say thanks for coming in. The area of the cafe was convenient to get to and easy to find. My meal ok now I have to tell you I'm picky on my sandwich's and fries as it's a common meal to get at most places. I was very impressed by the sandwich it was a large portion of a tender flavorful piece of grilled chicken perfectly cooked. The roll was soft and toasted nicely. The lettuce wasn't your normal iceberg (which can be blah) instead it was a small leaf mix that was great addition. Melted cheese and condiments held if all together nicely!! As for the fries they where uniquely delicious popping with a great flavor. I've never seen this kind of fries and I was happy to try them. I really liked them and while I was eating my sandwich my husband kept stealing my fries saying to me wow these are good!! My only critique would be that the fries are so good that ketchup isn't worthy as it detracts from the flavor and a good aioli or special blend dip house blend would be taking the dish to the next level. Updated: I decided to come back for dinner later the same day as I was excited to try more. Lol so I ordered the street tacos and Cajun chicken salad. I did have a long drive home so it did have to sit for a little while so that was my mistake. But the tacos where stuffed in a grilled corn tortilla which did get a little soft when I got to eat them. They had great flavor and if I had to choice a favorite of the three I would say the Cajun shrimp. They all had a decent amount of protein on them and was very filling. The salad was large enough to split it with my husband and we both had plenty. Good flavor with the addition to the fresh ingredients to the Cajun grilled chicken was tasty. Overall if I had to pick one meal out of everything I had from the cafe I would say hands down the grilled chicken sandwich with seasoned fries!!! I will be coming back to try the rest of the menu and I will also be telling everyone I know to try them!!

Yelp
As always we love supporting local non chain restaurants so we tried Lake Shore Cafe and we're very happy we did! It's was great! Started with loaded nachos and something different which we always love to see, bacon wrapped onion petals both were delectable. Nachos were definitely loaded, plenty of meat and fixings. I had the street tacos which comes with 3 over stuffed, also with plenty of meat! I chose the combo , Cajun chicken , Cajun shrimp and short rib ( again something different) there is so much stuff they use 2 soft corn shell to hold it all in! Perfectly spices. Others had the Italian beef , grilled ham & cheese and grilled steak sandwich all were loved! Great friendly service! We Will all return !

Yelp
I got to sample my wife's meal when we came for the elite event. She ordered the fajita wrap with steak and it was a good choice. The wrap was excellent! The seasoned fries were also very good. One of the owners came by to check on our meals. The cheesecake was fantastic and more than enough to share. This place opened the first of April and should be considered when out in this area.

Yelp
We decided to try this new restaurant because their menu items looked inviting. Due to Covid, we do not go into restaurants so we took advantage of their take out service. Our order was simple. We started with the stuffed Banana Peppers and our entrees were both the Cajun Chicken Salad. The Banana Peppers were larger than we are used to so that was a pleasant surprise. They were perfectly prepared, not over or under done. The sausage and cheese blend stuffing was spot on and the Marinara sauce was just right, both in taste and portion. Our Cajun Chicken salads were also a pleasant surprise. The portions were generous and there was no skimping on the ingredients which is unfortunately something you usually see with most restaurant salads. All of the ingredients were obviously fresh as advertised. The homemade warm bacon dressing was the one of the best I have ever tasted and it was actually warm as promised. Two portions of the dressing were included which is also something unusual. Seasoning of the juicy and well prepared chicken breast was just right. It gave us the great flavor you expect without the excessive heat that is often what happens with items advertised as Cajun. Since we didn't dine in, I can't rate the table service or the ambiance. I can say that ordering on the phone was very easy. The order was ready as promised when I arrived to pick it up. Pick up is done at the front desk in a very warm and bright area. All of the staff I encountered were very pleasant. The owners are also on site. Both wine and beer are available to enjoy with your menu selection. I was told that daily specials will be posted on their Facebook page. specials Parking on site is adequate for the restaurant's needs with easy entry and departure because it is on a corner and has access to both roads. Happily, wearing of masks is mandatory until customers are seated. We will be returning here to try other menu items. This restaurant is worth stopping in and trying out their menu.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch based on Yelp reviews and we found a very clean, simple restaurant with a pleasant hostess/server. The food was excellent. The French onion soup was very very good. Hubby had the Italian beef and I had a Pittsburgh chicken salad. Both were fresh, tasty and very filling. We will be back to try other menu items.

Yelp
My sister in law took my husband and I out for a celebratory birthday lunch. None of us had been there since it was the Woodlawn Hotel. She had looked at the menu and was impressed. Her impression was correct. From the moment you walk in you feel welcome and comfortable. We had our choice of booth, tables (both high and low) We picked a booth which was spacious and accommodating. We started out with the tempura green beans with a spicy aioli sauce on the side. They were delicious. They were hot and crispy. The green beans in side were cooked perfectly. The aioli sauce on the side was spicy. I ordered the Cuban sandwich. It was perfect. It had a generous portion of pork, ham, swiss and pickles. I had it with Italian Wedding soup as my side. The soup was home made. It was chock full of chicken meatballs. My Sister in law had a hamburger. They cooked it perfectly to her instructions. She loved the crinkle cut French fries which were hot out of the fryer. My husband had a Pittsburg Salad. A Pittsburg anything means it comes with French Fries within the dish. He ordered it to include steak. It wasn't something I would ever order but man oh man he loved it. The French Fries retained their crispiness and the steak was done to perfection. He ate every little bit of it, not even offering to share. While we were full, it was my birthday so we had dessert. We had the Lemon Cream Italian Cake. I was dubious because lemon anything can be a bit of a crap shoot. I was wrong it was lightly lemony with a slightly sweet cream filling in a lighter than light cake. It was fabulous. We are definitely coming back. I want to try everything, especially the Fish Fry. Eventually maybe I will try that Pittsburg salad.

Yelp
I enjoyed my meal at Lakeshore Cafe. All the dishes were cooked well and there was ample choice to find things I liked. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the meal. The service was pleasant. There are a few details that would kick things up a notch to a 5 star experience for me. It was more diner than cafe experience. I sat in the booth in the front of the dining room where the ambiance was a bit thin. I know they just opened so perhaps they are still in the process of decorating. Window treatments would soften the gritty view of Route 5. The booths in the back of the dining room had lovely lamps and the feeling was cozier. A table decoration would not be unwelcome, either. A candle, perhaps, or a fresh flower? Maybe COVID rules prevent this - not sure. Nachos are not a typical cafe menu item but I love them and I'm not complaining. The sauce on the plate of nachos I ate at Lakeshore was delicious. The other toppings were fine, if a bit heavy on the jalapenos (ask for a light touch on the jalapenos if you're not a huge fan). The chips were thick, a bit salty, obviously not house made. Lakeshore Cafe's recipe could be elevated by using fresh made corn chips. Yum! The stuffed peppers could use some attention. The flavor was fine, portion adequate. The sauce, however, was less than hot and the cheese congealed on the top. Also, the peppers were still a bit crunchy firm so when they were cut all the stuffing came out the end. The peppers could be cooked to a bit more tenderness and the sauce served steaming. The Italian beef was fine, if a bit dry. It could use some jus. I was tempted to give Lakeshore only 3 stars but I can't. The ricotta cheesecake was wonderful! It is like a Polish cheesecake about 2 inches high with a thin layer of sour cream on top. I would come to the cafe just for the cheesecake. The raspberry sauce was delightful. There is a choice of strawberry or caramel sauce as well. All things being equal I wouldn't stop make a special trip to Lakeshore Cafe for a meal unless I was in the neighborhood but I would go back anytime just for that cheesecake. I will make a point to try the fish fry at some time because Buffalo is always looking for a good fish fry. It is only offered on Fridays. And I will be sure to have the cheesecake.

Yelp
Great place. Simple, casual, great service and really good food. As I heard earlier, a hidden gem.
