Yelp
Mother Daughter dinner out and what a great place to end up!
Lake Shore Cafe is a family owned and run restaurant by brothers Glen, a Veteran and Chris, a Chef who has been creating for over 25 years.
We got to taste some of those creations , or as many as we could and took some home for later.
We started with tempura battered string beans which came with a slightly spicy ranch style dipping sauce.
The beans were fresh, whole and still had a bite to them, and the tempura batter was perfect!! Not soggy or falling off or oily , just dry and crispy with that lovely tempura taste.
On the specials board we spotted sweet potato pancakes with pineapple butter and pecans!!!!
Yup that's what you read and if you need to you can go back and re read that and I'll wait ....
Delicious!!!!! Moist and fluffy and with the perfect amount of sweetness.
I thought they might need syrup when I first saw them but I couldn't have been more wrong.
Not a dry bite in need of anything, they were so good just as they were.
Daughter had the roast beef sandwich which came with a huge amount of fries and three containers, au jus, horseradish and ketchup.
The roast beef dinner was described as
"Delicious, hearty, au jus was just right, kimmelweck was just right. Fries were hot, crispy and quite satisfying for a French fry craving"
Mom had potato and sautéed onion pierogis. They were sized for two bites each. Nicely fried with perfectly sautéed onions. The dough was substantial not for those who prefer it to be more like a crepe dough.
Ricotta cheesecake !!!!
And you get to choose the sauce so I went with strawberry.
So velvety and the crust was the kind I love to save for the last few bites because it's crunchy and thick.
Chocolate chunk cheesecake with caramel and chocolate sauce!!!!
Every bite had a chunk of chocolate and every bite was covered with caramel and chocolate sauce. The same crunchy thick crust.
What did we bring home???
Giant Bavarian soft pretzels with honey mustard sauce and home made queso sauce, which was perfectly spiced, not too hot.
So giant in fact they didn't fit in the box , they would likely need a pizza box.
Ashley our server, had perfect timing for all the courses. Empty plates were removed and beverages were checked on, and the pretzels which were ordered to take home when we first arrived, were ready with the check!!!
We were even surprised by a visit from Chris the owner to see how everything went with the meal. Something of a lost art I think having the owner or Chef check on the customers.
Definitely well worth the drive and if you live close by, lucky you! I definitely think it's going to be the go to area favorite cafe!!
