The 38 Essential Milwaukee Restaurants

"Lakefront was born in 1987, but it somehow feels older, like it has simply always been a part of the fabric of the city. After the big boys that made Milwaukee famous, and before the boom of third-wave craft brewers sprouting up in the past decade, Lakefront was the most ubiquitous local beer of area bars and liquor stores. Nowadays you’re not really a Milwaukeean until you’ve taken one of the brewery’s famous tours or stopped by the live polka-fueled Friday fish fry. To keep relevant in a hypercompetitive brewing scene, the brewery keeps things fresh with stunts like “curdsday,” romantic private chalet dinners overlooking the fermentation cellar, and mini heated greenhouses on the riverfront." - Todd Lazarski

An employee-led classic where the tour is funny and the beer hall hums. The Friday fish fry with live polka gets love from Milwaukee Magazine and local media. Come hungry, stay for curds, and toast the riverfront patio when weather cooperates.

The brewery was great, the atmosphere was amazing and the cheese curds were fantastic. They were super chewy and had a little grease on the outside. The downside is you can’t eat a lot of them at the same time because of the cheese and grease. They don’t offer flights on the weekends but I got the dive beer and it was a nice light beer. You have to pay for the brewery tours and they are only available on the weekends.

Google
This is a cool brewery that offers a ton of beers and a decent food menu in a large, beer hall-like building. They have enough styles of beers for everyone to find something they like. I tried a nitro IPA which was really unique and tasty. The food menu has a lot of German inspiration, and I enjoyed the bratwurst. However, my wife's Mac and cheese was cold and bland. They do have a small kids menu, and our daughters were happy with their chicken tenders. Parking can be tight, so be prepared to look for street parking. Service was average at best, though our food did arrive quickly.

Google
Great spot, great food, and good service overall. Live polka music was fun to watch and listen to. Went for the Friday fish fry. Reservations are recommended and can be done online without calling. Walk-ins are allowed, but waiting could be long, depending on the time. Food was good. The cod was a little fishy; more fishy than the walleye. Lakefront Brewery is known for its cheese curds, and it did not disappoint. They have a rotating menu of curd specials, so keep an eye on that. I parked on the street for free. Parking can be a little challenging at times, especially on weekends. Overall, this is a great place, and I see myself coming back many times.

Google
We decided to visit Wisconsin while on vacation in Chicago. I searched for the best restaurants on Milwaukee and I am SO glad this one came up! We ordered a ton of food so we could try multiple things. It was all so delicious! The atmosphere was great and the employees were super nice, too.

Google
The beer is pretty good, but the food is stellar. Award winning cheese curds and I can understand why. We happened to be there on a Friday so ordering fried fish was a no brainer. The interior and exterior vibes are excellent. We really enjoyed sitting on the patio as the boats passed along the water. Wonderful experience all around.

Google
Lakefront brewery was a pleasant but interesting experience. Upon entering we were ID 🪪 because you needed to be 21 to dine in likely because it’s a brewery. However, we saw kids dining inside so I am unsure what the rules are and why two twenty year olds wouldn’t be able to eat inside when kids and adults can. We were then told we can eat outside though so we did that 🤷🏻‍♀️ We ordered food inside at a counter and ate outside which was nice they don’t have many soft drink options so keep that in mind. they were out of the food option I wanted on a weekend so definitely first come first serve and this was for lunch. We ate the fish fry and chicken tenders. Both came with fry’s and both were hot fresh and delicious. Pretty good food and the options are almost all fried and the place itself is very clean and pretty. Definitely interesting rules about dinning in.

Greg Goetz

Google
Great selection of crisp tasty beers (fruit beer was a star) and delicious food. The cheese curds alone are worth the trip. Grab a pint, sit on the deck and enjoy watching the boat traffic on the river. Just a.Milwaukee gem.

Felicia Chang

Google
Great atmosphere with hustle and bustle. Cheese curds were hot and chewy. Beers were way to order with multiple lines available. The lake view outside is really nice too in the summertime.

Yelp
We showed up for their brewery tour and ended up staying for their infamous fishfry. Their tour guides are hilarious. Know it will NOT be PG13. If you are good with that, you will have a great time. Each tour, you get four tokens to exchange for drinks. They are VERY healthy pours. We got waaaaay more than 32 oz. For kiddos, no need to pay. They still get four tokens for non alcoholic drinks. My kiddo loved their maple syrup root beer. After the tour, you can either chill in the giant beer hall or you can kick it on their multi-level outdoor patio overlooking the river. The upper tier is smaller, but a great place to watch all the river traffic and people watch. The fish fry. It's good. But PSA: the line to order gets loooooong. Fishfry opens at 4pm. I was there at 3:55. Was the first in line and got my food in 5 mins. A friend joined the line at 4:20 and spent 20 mins in line. Food was still ready in 5 mins.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night and while it was PACKED, it didn't take long for us to see a party leaving to get a table inside. We had a party of 7 (plus a stroller) so we got a table in the corner which was nice and cozy yet you could still see everything. I didn't know I would love live Polka so much but it was an ideal musical backdrop as it wasn't overbearingly loud for us to shout at each other to converse but loud enough for people to dance on the dance floor. The system is that you find a table, get the number of the table, then line up for food (drinks are a different line), put your order in, and they bring it to your table. We got some people ordering drinks while others ordered food so it was faster. It was Friday so I wanted Friday Fish Fry! I read a ton of reviews for the best places to try but we ended up here partly based on how historic the FFF is here and the space to accommodate our group with kids. Still, I had high expectations that the Fish Fry did not meet. I got the cod (maybe I should have gotten the other fish) and it was dry on the inside and the outside was soggy, not crispy. The fish was mild at least and not fishy at all (at another place it was juicy and crispy but way too fishy). The cheese curds were a hit and my son, who is allergic to dairy, eggs, and nuts, was able to have the chicken tenders and fries and he rated it pretty high. I got a case of the maple root beer which we enjoyed for the remaining days. The old Fashioned type cocktail was okay. Should have gotten beer at a brewery! Long story short: Cheese curds 100% Food - Friday Fish Fry 40% Cocktails (should have gotten beer) 30% Ambiance 100% Service 40% Instagram worthy 70%

Yelp
What a fun and quintessential Milwaukee tour! This large brewery sits on the riverfront and produces large quantities of IPA and specialty beer (400 cases or something like that) throughout the Midwest and South. For $14, you get a 50 minute tour with info on the history of the brewery, how they make beer, and a Laverne and Shirley singalong. They give you 4 chips to redeem for 6 oz pours along the tour and hand out more for answering questions (I got one for best singing to L&S singalong). Our tour guide George was hilarious, a true musical theater presenter. The Japanese group may not have understood all his jokes (vas deferens) but he made it light. We finished the tour in the beer hall and split a brat and fries which were quite good. The only difficulty was getting to the brewery from across the bridge as they had shut down some pedestrian walkways. Highly recommend for a fun time.

Yelp
Wisconsin is known for 2 things; beer and cheese curds. Lakefront Brewery does a fantastic job at both. My friends and I wanted to have both atleast once while visiting Milwaukee. We saw a lot of good reviews on Yelp and so we thought Lakefront would be a good pick. The Brewery is located right on the lake so it has a nice view. The building is massive so luckily there is a lot of seating but it gets crowded. We ended up having to wait 30 minutes but luckily they have a gift shop so there is something to do. Their beer is fantastic. My husband enjoyed it so much that he ended up buying a cup. We also had the pretzel and the cheese curds which we all enjoyed. Lakefront will be a frequent stop when I'm in Milwaukee
google avatar

Jaison J.

Yelp
When in Wisconsin you always have to stop to get beer and cheese curds. I was hoping to get a full meal here but unfortunately they only had cheese curds and pretzels at the moment. Thankfully the cheese curds and beer hit the spot. I also tried the root beer made with maple syrup. Surprisingly it wasn't too sweet. I would definitely come back and try other items.

Yelp
Wow was i blown away food was how can I it delicious delicious delicious the atmosphere of these place friendly. Only thing I did not take advantage of was the tour yet it's coming on my next visit Lakefront Brewery you are my second favorite.

Yelp
We visited Lakefront Brewery as it was highly recommended, and now we understand why! Fish Fry is a staple here and the fish was super crispy. The pretzel was HUGE and loved all three dipping sauces it came with. My husband loved the craft beer, but I enjoyed the Maple Root Beer! Great food and great prices.

Yelp
We love Lakefront! We've been here many times over the years for beers, tours and comedy shows, and it never gets old. Some of the best beer in Milwaukee, bar none. We love the Riverwest Stein, Hazy Rabbit, and my new favorite, Fruit Wagon. We recently celebrated my friend's birthday here on a Thursday afternoon with a tour. Our tour guide, Sean, made sure we had the best time, and even dubbed our birthday boy as the day's "Bung Queen". After the tour we enjoyed some more beer, cheese curds, and a giant pretzel outside along the river, and watched a rowing team practice go by. The food and beer were fabulous as always, and the riverfront views are great. I'm sure we will be back again many times over. Definitely a favorite Milwaukee, must-see spot!

Yelp
This place was so much fun! We did the tour first and the tour guide was great! We like the Putin can (if you know you know ) I like the big beer hall style atmosphere. The beer was great, a good variety & flavor profiles. The pretzel was my favorite. Definitely will go back again!
google avatar

Sandy S.

Yelp
The beer hall was so much fun! We had delicious beer and the huge pretzel, a perfect way to spend a few hours! We loved the atmosphere, easy to get beer and food and they bring it to you!
google avatar

Kelsey J.

Yelp
Came to Lakefront the day before my birthday this year and I got to be the bung queen! Great day! Nice place for a celebration. We also came here for my bachelorette party. I love their wide selection and frequent rotation.

Yelp
Lakefront Brewery is a Milwaukee classic--famous for its wide variety of beers, and for good reason. Whether you're going with a big group or just a couple friends, the venue is welcoming, spacious, and always a good time. One thing I really appreciate is their excellent non-alcoholic option--it looks just like a beer and actually tastes great. Perfect if you want the vibe without the buzz. Now, let's talk cheese curds. Hands-down the best I've had in the MKE area--crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside, and packed with flavor. If you can, definitely go when the weather's nice so you can sip your drink by the pier and enjoy the view. Highly recommend for locals and visitors alike!

Yelp
We came here to a place that offered beer flights. We did not do the tour, as we had plans later in the evening. It was crowded but not hectic for mid afternoon early evening on Saturday. I only had beer, just a tasted a couple of sausages my party bought. The setup for the place is interesting; you go to the bar, look over the options of half pour or full pour, and carry them to a picnic table. The numbers on the table are for if you order food, which you have to do by approaching the counter. There are food runners but no waitstaff. The bartenders were friendly and informative, letting us know what to expect from a particular beer. The Girl Scouts of America were there, hawking cookies near the stage. They have a lot of events planned with the space: Drag Bingo, Trivia. People were friendly, and there was the option to buy beer in cans or growlers, but we passed. We had tickets to see the Milwaukee Bucks, and they have a game special: Free beer with the purchase of a beer. I mentioned it to the bartender, and he offered me wooden chips for free beer at our next visit. We will definitely do the tour next time, and if it's warm, take advantage of the outdoor seating!

Yelp
I live in Florida but this was my second visit to Lakefront Brewery. They not only have great beer, they have a great tour. This time we went on a Monday, and since they were in production; we couldn't go up close and see the beer making process. Alex, our host, still did a great job telling us about the history of beer and the history of Lakefront with a few jokes mixed in. The tour was $13, and well worth it because you get 4 (very large,) half pours to enjoy before, during, or after the tour. My favorite beer was the Gost Rita, a seltzer-like beer with hints of lime, agave, sea salt and orange.....so delicious! We also sampled some food before our tour began. We loved the award-winning cheese curds and the giant Bavarian pretzel with 3 dipping sauces. Both were fantastic! We had a sausage flight, (brat, kielbasa, and hot dog,) as well. It was good too. We enjoyed our food at the wooden picnic style tables in the beer hall and enjoyed the music being played. There is also a gift shop and you get a free pint glass or key chain with each tour purchased. Lakefront has free parking and it's easy to find because of the giant Three Stooges kettles that greet you outside. They have many events like live music, drag bingo, and Karaoke scheduled during any given week. Lakefront is a great option for locals and tourists alike!
google avatar

Amy R.

Yelp
I highly suggest the brewery tour! For the cost of the tour, you get four good sized drinks. The tour guide was hysterical and he made it so much fun! I am not even a huge beer drinker, but I really enjoyed the Bumble Bear! You have to pre-book your tour, and I highly suggest using one of your tokens to grab a beer before the tour begins, having another one during the tour, and then ordering the pretzel and enjoying your other two beers! When I tell you this pretzel was amazing... It was amazing!!

Yelp
After passing on countless opportunities to visit Lakefront Brewery for their famous cheese curds and fish fry, I finally stopped before an event downtown on a Friday night. With the fish fry I got potato pancakes and I got their Golden Maple Root Beer to drink. The cheese curds were meh. There was a fair amount in the container, but they were super greasy. The breading was crunchy only in some areas and the curds were bare in others. The box had a pool of grease at the bottom. The fish fry was also unfortunately meh. The potato pancakes were not homemade; rather, they were frozen hashbrown patties with onion flavor (they were the best part of the meal). The fish wasn't in my to go container for long as I just went outside to eat, yet the breading was already turning soggy. It didn't have any discernible seasoning either. The root beer was ok. A little sweeter than I'd like. I didn't see another soda option at their bar, which is fine for me because I like root beer, but I know there are people that don't. Both the food hall inside and river side seating outside are impressive. There was a polka band setting up inside when I got there, but hadn't begun playing by the time my food was ready and I was headed outside. To eat outside, you order at a side counter inside and sit anywhere outside. They give you a buzzer to let you know when your food is ready. I don't know if I missed a basket of to go cutlery or if I was supposed to request it, but they didn't put any in my bag, so heads up to check for that if you do plan on going straight outside to eat.

Yelp
We came here after a Brewers game. It wasn't as packed as I thought it would be, just a few tables being occupied. This place is huge. Very spacious. Plenty of seating options inside and they also have an outdoor patio. We decided to stay inside, but felt a little rushed because they made an announcement that the kitchen would be closing soon and then the bar announcement followed soon after. We arrived around 4:20pm on Sunday and they were closing at 5pm that day for a staff meeting. Thought we had until 9pm honestly. So we wouldn't feel rushed, we just ordered a couple half pours and shared some cheese curds and their Fish Fry Basket The cheese curds were really delicious. Perfectly fried and very filling and served with an amazing garlic ranch sauce. The fish fry came with tartar sauce, fries and Cole slaw. I added an additional piece for 4.50. The was fish perfectly fried and tasted fresh. Just needed a little bit more seasoning. Although the tartar sauce was good, I couldn't seem to find any malt vinegar anywhere. Felt like that would have made this dish taste a little bit better. Overall I definitely left full and satisfied. Just a little rushed. They were clearing tables and took my cole slaw away without asking.

Yelp
Came for lunch a took a tour. Justin the tour guide was great! Me made the tour super fun! Got some drink tokens to use 1/2 through the tour which was fun. Also had lunch. Hubby got the barbacoa tacos. They were just ok. I ordered the fish tacos which were great. Would get those again. Also had the giant pretzel. I did not like the dipping options. The beer cheese sauce tasted funny to me. So that would be a no go for next time. Fun place to hangout if you love beer
google avatar

Jennifer W.

Yelp
A large brewery along the lake with long wooden tables for big groups. There was both indoor and outdoor sitting. The fried cheese curd was the best. Likely breaded with panko and a good pulley cheese. So many beer options to pick from.
google avatar

Emma F.

Yelp
So I had high hopes for Lakefront Brewery because of all the signs hanging up inside saying "best cheese curds" and "best fish fry". Now let me start out by saying I see the potential and the hype. Now here was my issue... we waited an hour to get our food (which was a fish fry dinner, fish fry basket, and cheese curds). Now that's okay because they were packed so I understood. However when we got our food it was completely lukewarm and mushy!! Now everything we got was fried and therefore mushy is not what we were hoping for. I will say, the flavor of everything was great, so if our food came out hot and crispy, that would be a completely different story!!! We have some leftovers so I'm excited to see how they taste in the air-fryer. Does anyone know if their food ever comes out crispy? Or is it normally kinda mushy?

Yelp
Do the tour ! It's worth it. Obviously not the first time I did brewery tour but they made it fun here. $17 for 1 hour tour, they gave u 4 chips to exchange for beer (can't even use all the chips because it's a lot of beer), 1 free pint glass or (keychain I think) and they still have 1 voucher of lakefront beer that u can redeem in other places that's listed on the voucher. Talk to the bartender, they are super chill, just tell them what you like and they will help you. The cute part is they will name the beer from their full time employee. I happened to like sour and Sam the bartender told me to taste the sour beer named after him and it's delicious. Their beer are solid, I love the tap room, the shop is pure evil because they have a great selection of goodies and I just need to buy something (not that I need it). Just be careful when u were there, don't drink and drive (I just walked). Lol
google avatar

Bethany L.

Yelp
This was, by far, the top recommended place to us when my friends and I were planning a trip to town. It is large, has plenty of seating and is a bit chaotic with a separate place to order beer, vs food, and brewery tours departing frequently. I enjoyed my beer, a margarita style beer - it was light and refreshing. They also had excellent cheese curds!
google avatar

Tony F.

Yelp
This place is nothing but awesome! I came back here to take my friends out to eat for fish on Friday, and it was absolutely delicious. They had a live polka band playing in the background and family's and kids were dancing in the middle of the floor, it's something to watch and remember with family and friends . It was very busy for a Friday night, which was anticipated, and we were told it was an hour wait, which was fine. They were very busy and were able to seat us in about 15 minutes though which was awesome. Great fast service from the bar to the service at the tables, A+ to this establishment, and keep doing what you are doing!
google avatar

Sarah Z.

Yelp
Pros: Very cool place. Good food and drinks. We used to live in Milwaukee for years and would come here often for dinner and drinks. We came from out of town with friends and family for a 40th birthday party. Cons: Tonight we came with a group of about 20. We ordered food and drinks and hung out as regular people do on a Saturday night. Evidently they close at 9 pm, which is fine. But after ordering another round of beers we were very rudely spoken to when our drinks were not done. They played very loud heavy metal music to drive us out of the restaurant at 9:05. Think torturing prisoners who have paid a lot of money to eat and drink there for hours. I am disgusted and will never visit the establishment again. Beware.
google avatar

Michelle W.

Yelp
Best cheese curds in the Midwest. I first had the pleasure of visiting Lakefront about 7-8 years ago - did the tour, the whole shebang and had the cheese curds for the first time. Since then, pretty much all of my friends told me I haven't shut up about them. They are my gold standard and I compare all other fried cheese curds to Lakefronts. None have been better. Aside from that the service here is fantastic, everyone is kind, patient, and full of great food and drink recommendations based on your preferences. It's such a good vibe and I'll have to come back when they have live music. In addition to the curds, this time we also got the pretzel , Mac and cheese, and fish tacos. Loved all of it. The tacos could use a sauce to tie it all together but they were super tasty. Don't miss out on Lakefront. MKE is a fantastic day trip or long weekend visit from the City!
google avatar

Cheyenne L.

Yelp
Visiting MKE for the first time and saw this spot on a list of great cheese curds in the city. Super cute spot on the river with lots of indoor and outdoor space. Weather was great today so I sat on the deck, great ambiance and everyone (inside and outside) seemed to be having a good time. All staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful! I ordered: Cheese curds! 10/10, almost nothing else to say. These were unreal and the garlic ranch was just as good! Fixed Gear - 7.5/10, a little outside my comfort zone but enjoyable! Would love to try some of their lighter beers. Brat on a Pretzel Bun - 4/10, sausage itself was good but the bun up charge was not worth it to me. Bun was cold/not toasted, too big for the brat, and didn't have much flavor.
google avatar

Eli T.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this brewery and happened to be in MKE and took the opportunity to go. Tour was very fun our guide Riley was hilarious and made it quite entertaining. I recommended taking a weekend tour, otherwise you won't be able to see any of the actual brewery and production area. The tour comes with 4 beer samples which is a great way to try all they have to offer. The cheese curds looked like a must try, and they sure were. Potentially the best curds I've ever had. Very light and crispy battery and accompanied with homemade ranch dressing, it doesn't get much better than that. The fries were also good, nothing too special here but pairs well with an ice cold beer.
google avatar

Ross C.

Yelp
Such wonderful food here. Milwaukee classics for sure. Loved the fish, cheese curds, and bratwurst. The Maple Root Beer was a nice surprise as well. Have to stop by Lakefront for the vibes and service every time I'm in the city.
google avatar

Cheri P.

Yelp
A beer hall style restaurant with a steadily changing menu. They offer a lot of vegan and gluten-free options. They have a delicious Friday fish fry with a polka band in the evenings. Highly recommend the cheese curds with garlic ranch. Their sausage plate is absolutely delicious as well. You have to order at the counter and then a server brings you your food. It comes out pretty quickly. We were married here in 2019 but I hear that they no longer do weddings unless it is for Valentine's Day or a group wedding or vow renewal.
google avatar

Cody D.

Yelp
Visiting Milwaukee for the first time and this was on the list of top places to visit when visiting the Milwaukee visitors website. It's a brewery and a beer hall, which is interesting. You pick a numbered table and find a place before going up front to order food, and then another line to order drinks. This would be a great place for a several people to get together. We got the cheese curds, which were really really good. The garlic ranch was amazing and the curds were lightly battered and crispy. A must have. The brats with cider onions and the pretzel buns were very good, although I'd probably just order one bun for the two sausages. The mustard it came with was delicious. There was a red sauce that was sweet but with a strong chili powder flavor. It was okay with the pretzel bun. T had the Caesar Rocket salad with grilled chicken, which was only a Caesar salad because of the shaved Parmesan cheese and the dressing. Other wise, it had a lot of stuff not normally associated with a Caesar salad. Good, just not a traditional Caesar salad. All in all, a very nice dinner and the beer was excellent, as expected. If you grab a slice of cheesecake when ordering food, pay attention. It's vegan "cheesecake," which isn't to say it's bad. It's just not actually cheesecake.
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
we did the lakefront brewery tour and it's a really great deal - 4 6oz pours AND a complimentary souvenir glass - all for $15!! & our tour guide was really funny! stayed to try the cheese curds (which have been really hyped up to me before) and the fish fry. the cheese curds were tasty, not the best i've had but i really enjoyed them. fish fry slappeddd, it was so light and airy which I loved. really great spot to hang out at
google avatar

Helen H.

Yelp
Lakefront is the first certified organic brewery in the country and the first to produce gluten-free beer. Brewery tours are available. I didn't come for the beer though. I came for the cheese curds. The cheese curds were light and crispy, served with garlic ranch- delicious. We also ordered a brat and pasta salad, which were both good as well. We enjoyed our time there, but it would probably be much better when it's warmer and you can sit on the patio with views of the river.

Audra M.

Yelp
On a recent trip to Milwaukee, we headed to Lakefront Brewery. It isn't the easiest to reach when one is car-free in Milwaukee, but it is worth the effort to make your way there if you are a fan of craft beer. The place is huge with a good amount of outdoor seating that is perfection for a warm weekend afternoon. Lines did get long to order food while we were there, but our delicious sausage platter was served quickly. We also shared an order of scrumptious curds, using a 50% off coupon we found in a tourism magazine. Every member of staff we encountered was kind and efficient. One minor detail I was lukewarm on is the fact that the dining area bathrooms are just off the gift shop. I understand this is likely a floor plan necessity, but upon my first trip in, the gift shop did not smell all that great, making shopping the merch a bit less appealing. We were having so much fun, I checked online to see if any afternoon tours were available. Per the website, they were sold out. I went up to the host podium to inquire further, and they graciously fit us in! What a tour! Weekend prices are $16, and Monday-Thursday, it's only $13. This is a crazy good deal because it includes four 8oz. pours and a souvenir pint glass. (Attendees get four beer tokens, so you do get to select which beers you sample with those tokens, usable even before the tour begins) We even were given a couple of freebie beer coupons to use at other Milwaukee bars for a Lakefront pour at the bars' respective locations. The price plus the quality of the tour make it one heck of a bargain. Our guide, Rylie (hope I spelled that correctly), was comical, engaging and knowledgeable. Even as a proud Chicagoan, I easily forgave his anti-Illinois jokes! haha. He made the whole experience that much better with his clever banter. The tour lasted just shy of an hour, and we enjoyed learning more about a brand we are pretty big fans of! I look forward to going again the next time we are in Milwaukee. Sue

Yelp
Lakefront cheese curds are my favorite, and it's a must stop whenever I'm in Milwaukee. Tried: cheese curds, sausage, and mac & cheese Loved: cheese curds - perfectly fried and paired with their homemade ranch makes it my favorite cheese curds The beer hall is a great spot to hang out, and they bring your food to your table after ordering. Liked: the sausage and mac & cheese. Both were okay

Yelp
Stopped here on the Rampage Santa Ride. The service was fast and the food was hot. It's cutely decorated for the holidays. Good background music.

Yelp
Absolutely a must-do in Milwaukee and my friend who lives here says it's his go-to. It has it all, a brewery (and there's a fun guided tour), great food (fish and chips are highly recommended) and live music. Polka music with accordions on the night we were there. I literally emailed my friend there today to let him know I will be coming back soon and expect to eat here again!

Yelp
Lakefront has a really nice space and great beer. Overall a great atmosphere. It's a cool brick building right on the water. There is a parking lot which is so nice to have especially in the downtown area. The setup inside is well spaced. They have bar for ordering food and then a separate bar for ordering drinks which is a great idea. Our food came out within 10-15 minutes of ordering. They have a decent sized menu. We ordered at the counter and they brought it to our table. We had the soft pretzel which was amazing. It came with 3 really good dips (mustard, cheese, and a flavored cream cheese). We also ordered the fish & chips. The fries were really good but I wouldn't order the fish again. It was a bit over cooked and not my favorite. For drinks, I had the Hazy Rabbit, very good! The drinks line was a little slow but worth the wait. I want to come back in the summer to check out their patio on the river and get another soft pretzel and a beer.

Yelp
Really fun atmosphere, great food, and good options for people who don't love beer. The bartenders were friendly. We didn't have a server -- the drinks and food are all ordered at a counter and you bring your stuff back to your table. I'd recommend going early. It gets crowded, and it closes early. But definitely would go back!

Yelp
I enjoyed my experience at Lakefront Brewery. The tour was interesting and a lot of fun. We received 4 tokens to sample the beers ( 8 oz each). All that I tasted were great but my favorite was the margarita-style beer. It was light and refreshing and definitely unique. The more traditional beers were still good. And you could bring your samples on the tour and get a refill mid-tour! After our tour, we tried the amazing cheese curds - I highly recommend these!

Yelp
Lakefront Brewery is the full package. The beer? Top-tier. The bar food? Way better than it has any right to be. Add in a killer playlist and the kind of laid-back, vibey ambiance that makes you want to stay way longer than planned--yeah, it's a win. Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
What a find! On a summer trip to Milwaukee, a friend and I decided to do a brewery day and explore a few different breweries and Lakefront ended up being our favorite! Having their beer for the first time (we're in a state that doesn't sell Lakefront beers), we really enjoyed the flavors and were stoked to see how generous their pours were. We did the tour and it was fun! We had heard good things and it didn't disappoint. Before the tour begins, you redeem one of your tokens for a drink, so everyone starts the tour together with a drink. About halfway through the tour, you get another. Our tour guide was funny, engaging, and really had fun doing his job! At the end of the tour, my old soul heart was happy that we did a small tribute to Laverne and Shirly. After the tour, we hung out outside and enjoyed some beer and cheese curds on the waterfront. You HAVE to check out the cheese curds! They were the BEST we had in Milwaukee. The rotating flavor that week was cookies and cream, which didn't sound too tasty, but when we got them BLEW OUR MINDS! We regularly think back on these cheese curds and wish we could get them again.

Yelp
Lakefront is always a great spot is tour and grab a bite! I've been on the tour 3 times and each time has been super fun. This time I went to Lakefront with my family since they were visiting me, they loved the location, the food, and the fun tour guide! Totally recommend to all locals who have visitors in town. Service for the food was quick, and the vibes were energetic but not overwhelming inside the brewery. The outside portion facing the river is such a beautiful spot and was great for the cloudy but nice temps we had that day!

Yelp
tl;dr this review should have been years ago Another review forgotten even after being there so many times! I've been for the tour, I've been for the fish fry, I've been for the drag show bingo, I've been for the patio and I've been for the hell of it. Not too much more can be said that hasn't been uttered here on the page. The the Lakefront Brewery is a special business that we are lucky to have here in Milwaukee. People from all over come for the tour and as they should - it's funny, informative, a little sassy and all of the tour guides clearly LOVE what they do. You get your free pint glass with the tour and sample amazing beers. You can check out all of the cool swag and ask nerdy questions about beer you've never felt comfortable asking before. ANNNNNND you get to see an adorable Laverne & Shirley re-enactment. The cheese curds are on another level here, that and the fish fry will make people want to come over even if they have no appreciation for beer. For people who DO love beer, you're in the right place as the Riverwest Stein, Eastside Dark, and Hazy Rabbit are personal favorites and on another level. This place also have New Grist IPA which is gluten-free (and just something a little different and provides and option that not many folks get related to gluten allergies.) Love this place, will always recommend it for out-of-towners, will always be happy to come back and get an order of cheese curds with a pint.

Yelp
This 1 star is just for kitchen. Bar staff was friendly and beer was good. They are out of everything at 7pm on a Friday. No Walleye, no plant based fish. Two people in our party had completely different looking fish fry's like they ran out of the good stuff and started frying frozen blocks which a member in our party saw kitchen staff unboxing. Two people had vegan coleslaw which looked fine but non vegan coleslaw had no dressing like they ran out of mayo and just dumped cabbage in a bowl. No tartar sauce confirmed they likely ran out of mayo which is mind blowing to me. The two vegan people in our party had to order a bunch of sides of kraut and rice because there's no other vegan option. Honestly not sure the vegan fish exists or if they are just "out of it" every week. Really embarrassing to invite friends out and find out there's nothing on the menu for them to eat after you research a place that has options. Very disappointing because the space is so cool, they even had a polka band that played two songs and then just left. They just seem to be out of everything, need someone to manage kitchen properly.

Yelp
This place is on "things to do in Milwaukee" lists for a reason. It's a huge space with indoor and outdoor seating, good for solo travelers/couples/groups. The beer selection is vast, and they even have some non alcoholic beers which I think it great. It's a relaxing atmosphere and the prices are reasonable. It does get a little busy on the weekends though so plan accordingly

Yelp
The food was great. Unfortunately the bartender was extremely rude. We drove 6 hours for a brewery tour, only to be met by a woman on a power trip. If you hate your job and expect a tip, you should quit.

Yelp
The food was good but the bartender was very rude and not friendly. We asked for samples of a few drinks and she looked so annoyed and just pissed off! We also paid with cash I got an eye roll because she had to make change!

Yelp
As a non drinker in a beer city on a frozen day i cant tell you how excited i was that they have a non alcoholic version of their flagship brew!!! They actually had 3 non alcoholic beers available! 5 stars for that alone to be honest but... the real reason i was coming here was for the deep fried cheese curds. These hot, melty, crispy fried heaven bites were all i was dreaming of and more! The garlic ranch side dip was a perfect compliment! Love the big open space here with ample seating, even for large groups. It's all self serve so you pop up to a cashier to place your food order and then up to the bar for your drinks. Everyone was friendly and i can say without a doubt I'll be back and you should go too!!!!!!

Yelp
We had lunch here on a Saturday and found the food to be good for what it is. Most of the dishes can be characterized as traditional, relying in good part on the salt-sugar-fat trifecta for taste. For instance, the fish in the taco that I ordered was deep fried rather than grilled, and the sausage dish that I considered also presumably had a lot of fat and salt. In the meantime, there are healthier options such as Caesar Rocket Salad with mozzarella pearls and fresh vegetables. Overall, this is a good place to try traditional Wisconsin food, as it seems to use fresh ingredients and offer flavorful dishes.
