On a recent trip to Milwaukee, we headed to Lakefront Brewery. It isn't the easiest to reach when one is car-free in Milwaukee, but it is worth the effort to make your way there if you are a fan of craft beer. The place is huge with a good amount of outdoor seating that is perfection for a warm weekend afternoon.
Lines did get long to order food while we were there, but our delicious sausage platter was served quickly. We also shared an order of scrumptious curds, using a 50% off coupon we found in a tourism magazine. Every member of staff we encountered was kind and efficient.
One minor detail I was lukewarm on is the fact that the dining area bathrooms are just off the gift shop. I understand this is likely a floor plan necessity, but upon my first trip in, the gift shop did not smell all that great, making shopping the merch a bit less appealing.
We were having so much fun, I checked online to see if any afternoon tours were available. Per the website, they were sold out. I went up to the host podium to inquire further, and they graciously fit us in!
What a tour! Weekend prices are $16, and Monday-Thursday, it's only $13. This is a crazy good deal because it includes four 8oz. pours and a souvenir pint glass. (Attendees get four beer tokens, so you do get to select which beers you sample with those tokens, usable even before the tour begins) We even were given a couple of freebie beer coupons to use at other Milwaukee bars for a Lakefront pour at the bars' respective locations.
The price plus the quality of the tour make it one heck of a bargain. Our guide, Rylie (hope I spelled that correctly), was comical, engaging and knowledgeable. Even as a proud Chicagoan, I easily forgave his anti-Illinois jokes! haha. He made the whole experience that much better with his clever banter.
The tour lasted just shy of an hour, and we enjoyed learning more about a brand we are pretty big fans of! I look forward to going again the next time we are in Milwaukee. Sue
