The Best Affordable Restaurants in Las Vegas for a Cheap Meal | Eater Vegas

"The best deal at this lakeside restaurant is the 24-hour breakfast. Order the New York steak and eggs, which comes with potatoes and toast, for just $9.99; a pancake special with two pancakes, two eggs, two pieces of bacon, and two sausages, runs for the same. For lunch and dinnertime diners, fish tacos go for under $10, as does the steak sandwich." - Janna Karel

Today was the first time we ate at this lounge, and we are so glad our friends took us here for lunch. This lounge is located away from the hustle & bustle of downtown Las Vegas, next to Lake Sahara. There is plenty of free parking within the complex with some handicapped designated spots. The lounge is separate into a dining area and bar, which is separated by a glass door and is small when compared to most other restaurants. However, the staff here were fantastic, friendly, attentive and helpful with menu selections. Each of us had different meals and all of us were quite happy with our choices. The food was served in a timely manner, hot and was very tasty. I had a freshly made chicken pot pie, and it was delicious. There is a special everyday and the prices were more than reasonable, especially considering the portion size. Bottom line, we will return to this lounge in the future because of its excellent service, menu and location.

First time here for us. The steak n eggs here r cheaper than village pubs now. $11 per dish which is a great price for people who came from cali. Steak was soft ( ordered medium/ med rare), toasts were really crunchy n buttery, fries r food. No complaints here as they just got themselves 2 new loyal customers. Highly ultra recommended for cheap eats. Service is great, food came out at a decent pace despite there r many guests. The vibe is cozy with many booths, lights not too dimmed ( we went in restaurant side since it’s split into 2 w bar area on the other door). There r many other food items that r reasonably priced too, lookin forward to come back next time! 9.5/10

Update: we came back to try their happy hour. It's such a good-looking menu. The red wine was not good. The drink was pretty weak. We ordered the potato skins and they were served totally cold after about 20 minutes. We asked for them to be replaced but the waitress came out and just gave us our check with them removed. So we never got them back. The waitress was really nice and she got in a fight with a cook about it but I will not be coming back. What a good find this was. The food was delicious. The service was good. I love the decor. The prices were especially reasonable. I can't wait to come back here for the happy hour. Also look at the price of wine compared to other places.

First time going even though I had been in the area for almost two decades. I'm a little busy, so make sure you join the wait list prior to coming here. But It was a great time. Good service and food! Friends had fried chicken and fish and chips, and it was amazing! I personally had the stuffed potato skins and Lakes Lounge Chicken. It's really great! The gravy was perfect, and the chicken was juicy while the veggies and rice pilaf had a good amount of seasoning! Would recommend and I would like to go again!

If you want to escape the bright sun and heat while treating yourself to some good ol’ American comfort foods then Lakes Lounge is perfect for you! This is a darkly lit, small, cozy diner with an all American comfort food menu. There aren’t many tables so you may have a short wait but there was one available when we went so we did get seated immediately & I noticed throughout our visit that the turn over was pretty quick. Our food came out fast, myself just having my normal plain side salad with no dressing. I should note *medically my diet restrictions are no meat, no dairy, gluten-free, low-sodium & low sugar… so you wld think it’s impossible for me to go out to eat but I figured out a way too because I’ve always loved the experience of different restaurants. So the downfall on my simple side salad was that I asked for romaine lettuce instead of iceberg and they brought Iceberg and also the menu states that it comes with cucumbers (*I also specifically said “with cucumbers” when I ordered) and my salad had no cucumbers. I did say “no croutons” and they got that right. So maybe don’t try to modify something so simple there but I didn’t mind, I added my tofu & berries that I brought from home and it was great. My fiancé though is the true food critic. He’s obsessed with finding the best steak n eggs for the price around us and so far this was his favorite! He said it tasted good, was perfectly cooked (med-rare) and his portion was slightly larger than his prior favorite at Mad Maddies down the street and the price was lower at 10.99 compared to their 14.99. All and all we enjoyed ourselves, we were satisfied and we will be revisiting! Updated: We did revisit and our service and food was great! This time my fiancé got their Fish n Chips and was very satisfied and I finally got the romaine lettuce :)

Google
Steak and eggs for $10.99 - great value! It comes with eggs, potatoes and a bread (I opted for mashed potatoes and biscuits and gravy). I asked for medium rare and got medium (which was expected). Steak was actually delicious and pretty tender. Server was friendly and the dining area didn't reek of cigarette smell. I'll be going back!

Yelp
Back here again ..... This place is a real hidden neighborhood gem. Kind of small, hidden away in an old plaza that looks like it was constructed in the 60's by the lake. Kind of off the beaten path, I.e Sahara ave. But certainly convenient if you want to dine here. We're not regulars but it seems like 85% of the diners are. We got there at around 11:50 yesterday. Jenn was our server. My dining companion wanted the Tuesday spaghetti special but our server said it couldn't be served until 12:00 and was pretty rigid about that. (The specials availability time was clearly posted so it was our fault for not paying attention). Anyway, the restaurant was pretty much filled after about 10 minutes. My dining partner ordered the Reuben and I ordered their classic burger. The Reuben was huge and well prepared. Now on to my burger... I think it was an 8 oz patty, pretty standard, not specially ground with a special meat combination or anything but it was cooked the way I ordered. Melted cheese and crispy (probably oven baked bacon) a thick slice of red onion, (which I really liked) , two slices of tomato and a slab of iceberg lettuce. I'm not a fan of lettuce on sandwiches so I gave that huge hunk to my dining partner. We both got skinny fries which were crispy and not too salty. Pretty tasty meal and we both only finished half our sandwiches. Sorry, no pictures this time, too busy eating. Tip for prospective diners..... the place is popular and fills up fast at traditional meal times so pls accordingly.

Yelp
My family moved to Vegas in 1990. Lakes Lounge was one of the places we'd go. This place is a hidden gem in Vegas. It's hidden in a shopping center right next to the lake! Best food and still to this day they have fair prices. I've never had a bad experience at the Lakes Lounge. Service has always been spot on. The ambiance is definitely Old School Vegas! I highly recommend this business!

Yelp
Went there today for breakfast and ordered steak and eggs and French toast special. French toast is not too dry or too moist and it was sprinkled with cinnamon, I ordered eggs over medium and they cooked them right. I also requested my bacon to be extra crispy and they cooked crispy. The bacon looked crispy and tasted crispy. They used a leaner bacon. The steak was grilled right, medium rare. The prices are very reasonable no wonder they have constant stream of people coming in. The waiters and waitresses are attentive. And the place might look small when you enter but they have a lot of tables and can accommodate huge parties.

Yelp
My husband and I LOVE this place! We come here frequently to get the steak and eggs deal. I get my steak medium rare with scrambled eggs and sourdough toast. This is a cute spot, I have never had to wait more than 15 minutes to be sat. They have a mimosa/Bloody Mary deal on the weekends, $3.50 each until 2pm. The menu looks amazing, but we always get the steak and eggs. I will try something else next time! I promise! This is a great Mom and Pop little location, make sure to stop and check out the views of the lake before or after you eat.

Yelp
first time trying the Lakes and tried their New York steak and eggs for $10.99 24/7. Great quality of meat, excellent friendly service and best value. This should be your go-to place for a convenient reasonably-priced diner. I highly recommend this place!

Yelp
Their food is pretty good! Another hidden gem that I never knew would actually have some tasty eatings. I've gone a few times and I've always gotten the cheeseburger and garlic Parmesan fries. The Cheeseburger is massive and priced fairly decent. Cannot speak for the service because I've always gotten the food to go. Will have to go in next time and actually sit down inside to experience their service.

Yelp
I am an out of towner and I came to this place with my parents who live in Vegas. This place seems very much like a locals spot, and a popular one at that. Their prices are incredibly low and the service is friendly! However their food just seems soooo greasy and a lot of their food is just cooked with wayyyyy too much garlic--and this is coming from someone who absolutely LOVES garlic in cooking/food. But the food here just seemed drowned in grease and too much garlic (if there's such a thing). For the price, I can see why this place is popular. But, for the grease, meh.

Yelp
What can you say about the Lakes Lounge? I've been coming here since 2007 and they have consistently been delicious ...even through the Covid years. The prices have gone up a few dollars but for a good hearty comfort style meal, This is the place to go. The burgers never disappoint. The steak sandwich has always been a hit. The service could be a little slow at times, but they make up for it. I remember when I first came and the place had a "crusty crab" feel to it but now it has a nicer diner style going for it and It is always clean. Whenever we can't decide on what we want to eat The Lakes Lounge is our go to.

Yelp
I heard about this place from a close friend and we tried it the other week. First of its definitely tucked away I can see why people would drive past it. It's in this very cute shopping center. When you enter there are 2 doors one for bar and one for restaurant. I will say they did have it decorated so cute for Halloween. The restaurant is small but cozy. I orordered the fish and chips. They were out of this world. I love that they are smaller than traditional fish and chip fillets and you will see in the Pic. Price wise I think 12.99 is a steal. I also got a side coleslaw for a few dollars which was just as good. This place is open 24 hours. Definitely worth it. I bet you breakfast here is amazing! Loved it.

Yelp
After giving 5 stars for the last 5 years or more to a restaurant that I considered an extension of our kitchen to eat in because consistently the food and service were excellent, I have to update it to a one star!! Lately, the service & also the food have taken a nose dive. It is the new normal for them to have many empty tables and let the people wait outside literally for 30-50 minutes lining up without apology! The badly trained new host seat two people at a 5 people table while a group of 5 are waiting! Happened twice to my husband & I. It is also new normal to forget part of the food order and bring it so late when you are done with the meal and still charge. Also they forget to get your cocktails & drinks! after asking 3 times they finally come when you are done with your food! Very Very disappointing & sad! Ruined my brunch on Sunday & dinner last night! Hope they fix the situation soon or we will never come back again.

Yelp
Nothing fancy.. Just a decent place with decent prices. They have daily specials. There is a bar if you like some drinks with your meal. Service is not great. Even if the place is not crowded. It took us 40 minutes of sitting before our orders were taken. Tables that we sat 10-20 minutes after us, by another server...received their meals rather quickly. When our food finally arrived. It was cold to the touch. The cooks definitely did our orders correctly... but our server was slow to get it out. I would still come just for the price, and quality of food... with a different server...

Yelp
Fantastic place hidden away in The Lakes area. Food is outstanding most everything is from scratch. Specials every night. Prime Rib on Saturday was amazing. Do yourself a favor and go check it out.

Yelp
Cozy, kind and speedy service, overall great value at The Lakes Lounge. Can't forget to mention the beautiful scenery outside too. First timer - I walked in on a Monday and was in heaven with the amazing aroma of baby back ribs. I didn't realize until we were seated that there is a daily specials menu and the ribs were the deal of the day. Ordered the full rack of ribs. They were so tasty! Also ordered the fish and chips - fish was *chef's kiss* Onion rings were fabulous as well. Did not get a photo of our main courses because they were enjoyed immediately after the plates were set down lol! We'll have to come back to try all the other specials that have caught our eyes. Can't wait!

Yelp
Service was fast and friendly Dining room is tidy, dimly lit and calm. There are tables as well as booths and charts without arms. It's a door within a door situation but should not impede mobility devices including wheelchairs. Food was a mixed bag. My chicken francese was very good and I would eat those well seasoned veggies all day. My husband's fish and chips were not good. Neither of us would eat those again. All in all a good place though and for the price you can't really go wrong. We'll be been to try other items for sure.

Yelp
Daily special. Fresh food right out the grill Get your prime rib on a sat. Stop on by and get your grub on
google avatar

Yelp
Great service and food. They have daily specials and happy hour as well. The food is flavorful and made well. There is a bar and a separate dining section. I love their fried chicken.

Yelp
Great local spot and hole in the wall in the Lakes area. My brother loves their morning steak and eggs and they also have daily specials. When you enter one door on your left, it is dark and there are a few tables and booths on one side, the other side, you'll find a bar. I've never been to the bar area. For what you pay for, it's a great deal if you happen to be at the Lakes. The service is quick and accommodating.

Carol B.

Yelp
Very good food and what Great service. The servers were so kind and attentive, a big shout out to them ! With so many people divided these days and unfriendly ,it was so great to see kind and caring workers ! With hope, we will someday return to kindness . The food was fresh and excellent . The clam chowder was delicious . Fish and chips , the French dip sandwich and the grilled chicken with spinach and mushrooms was really good too. We wish it was a larger dining room tho, I'm sure most people I'm sure would agree.
google avatar

Gigi V.

Yelp
Amazing food but the last server we had it took forever to served the food and by the time serve it's cold already. But otherwise we go back there and hopefully we don't get the same server

Yelp
Hi! I've been coming to the lakes lounge since I moved to the area in april 2023. I've been a long time fan of the buffalo cauliflower and I'm so sad to see it's left the menu! :( bartender on grave, Jason, wasn't super great... but I'll be back regardless cause I love the steak sandwich.
google avatar

Yelp
Tasty & economical menu! Lots of comfort food choices like French dip, fish and chips, etc.

Yelp
This place is a super cozy "old fashioned" make you feel good ambiance on the restaurant side. Additionally, the servers have always been very friendly. There's not an abundance of tables so prime eating times could incur a wait. I went at an oddball 3pm and there was plenty of seating. Originally I was going in for the Chicken Francese, but reading the menu, the Chicken Piccata, it looked very similar, almost identical but with the addition of capers and sautéed spinach. I opted to try the piccata. The pluses - it comes with a choice of soup or salad. I chose the salad which is your standard iceberg tomato croutons. The main entree is a BIG portion! For a $10.99 special you get your money's worth. Another big plus is every item on my plate was served hot - spinach was delicious, vegetables well-seasoned and cooked all the way thru (yes!), rice pilaf had a nice texture. What I thought was just Ok was the actual chicken and piccata sauce. The chicken may have been a breaded pan seared item but it tasted more like a deep friend item so it wasn't as light/fluffy as other piccata dishes I have had. However, the chicken portion was a great portion. The piccata sauce itself I felt was a little thick compared to other places. This one was more like a thick gravy than a loose garlic buttery sauce. My personal preference is more of the classic piccata sauce. Overall, I only was able to finish half of my plate because of the giant portion. It is great to see this local establishment still give such value to its loyal customers. I do have to note that while the menu reads served 24 hrs, the restaurant side itself closes at a certain time and the bar side is the only option left late evening until the other side reopens. I did walk in once late night and there were only two customers on the bar side but the bartender refused to let me order food unless I was playing a machine. Again, it was not busy at all with only two other customers in there. I asked about this incident on a separate visit and a server told me that it's the bartender's discretion and some may or may not let you order. This makes it a little iffy for later dining as it's not consistent if you'll get food without mandatory gaming.
google avatar

Rich G.

Yelp
It's a smaller than expected space with dim lighting. Service was good and the servers were kind. Drinks and food came out quickly. Food wasn't the best but it wasn't the worst. But I'm not complaining when you get $11 steak and egg breakfast.
google avatar

Jessica W.

Yelp
Last night, around 8-9 pm, my coworkers and I arrived here. We were a group of about 17 people. We came in together for a quick shot before heading back to our friend's house at the lake. Upon entering, the female bartender remarked, "I don't have enough slot games for you guys to play." We explained that we only wanted shots, to which she responded, "I don't have enough shot glasses." The situation escalated when she accused our group of including minors without even asking for IDs. This bartender demonstrated unprofessionalism and seemed unwilling to serve us, despite us being first responders celebrating on a Sunday night.

Elvie N.

Yelp
Love this place. Food is good and reasonably priced. Service is excellent too. I keep going back here with my friends cuz I love the menus.

Yelp
We found out about Lakes Lounge online as a good place for cheap eats. We weren't disappointed. We had the ribs special and it was so good and so much food. The staff were great and super friendly. Special shout out to Jevahnna who was very attentive.

Yelp
I like this place for the cheeseburger. Good onions, beef, Fries and they don't overcook it. It tastes like top tier heaven. Thank you Las Vegas!

Yelp
I hate to give bad reviews but it is way over due for this place. I started coming here 5 years ago and compared to the service then and now, it has gone way down! The server looks like they are hating life working there. For the last year, i walk in and would have to wait 20-30 min for someone to take my order. A couple of times, the server forgot my soup/salad and it didn't matter how often I reminded her, she never brought it until I got my check. It's like the server had a lobotomy! I am never going back to the Lakes Lounge. You guys need new management!
google avatar

Amoni ..

Yelp
I'm just going to start off by saying I loved the interior, it felt low key homey and the service was good. I do wish my food had more seasoning, kinda was bland and oily. The garlic bread or regular bread was oily. The shrimp however was very juicy but no taste. I did take the pasta home and added some flavor. I was also a little disappointed in the potato skins! A bit brunt which is sad cause I normally like a soft crunch. My gf mentioned her corn was dry like it was old. Which we felt the same about our salad. You can tell it wasn't fresh. The croutons and dressing made the salad. Overall it was a 4.5 experience

Darrin C.

Yelp
I wish that I had a photo, prime rib ordered rare came out to be a burnt blacked out piece of what was meat. This place sucks and is like heavens waiting room. Go elsewhere for prime rib.
google avatar

Bethany L.

Yelp
I was having an insane craving for fish and chips, apparently my 87 year old Grandma was wanting the same thing. She had read a Facebook post about the 10 best place in Vegas to get some, and someone said, "don't bother with all the other, just go to the Lakes Lounge." So off we went. It's a dimly lit little spot with maybe 15 tables that are constantly full--they turn and burn here. The service was good and the food came fast. The ham steak was giant, as big as the plate itself, and was easily the best I've ever had. The piece de resistance was the fish and chips........phenomenal! Delicious! Amazing! I have stopped thinking about it sense. Just GO!!! Because I I'm planning my next meal!
google avatar

Hillary S.

Yelp
For a delicious meal at an affordable price, this is the place to be. I've come here a few times already for dinner, and have not been disappointed by the food. Their portions are big, items are well seasoned, and salad dressings are made in-house. They also have specials everyday where you can get casual dishes like baked chicken or pan roast for $9.99 or premium dishes like prime rib for $19.99. Every time we've dined there, I always leave feeling comfortably satiated and happy to have leftovers to take home. My personal recommendations are to try their zucchini sticks with homemade ranch, cod dish, and prime rib special. I'm looking forward to trying their fish and chips and french onion soup one day as I've heard those are some of their favorites. They have an extensive breakfast, american, and italian menu so you're definitely bound to find something that suits your cravings. And at anytime.
google avatar

A D.

Yelp
Here is why I give it 5 stars... The food was piping hot, good flavor and generous portions. (Those pics are leftovers) The bartender Kyle though is what took it to that next level... He was welcoming, attentive and informative. We will definitely return again! I'm looking forward to trying the daily specials and they are famous for their fish n chips. Don't sleep on this place people... They won't disappoint!

Yelp
I am floored. I've never had a bad experience here and I've been here more times than i want to admit. I came in with my elderly parents. My mom has vertigo and standing can be difficult for her so I asked if we could sit while waiting for a table. I was waved towards a table so we sat. There were no other booths available and my parents do better in a booth so as we saw a couple ready to leave, we waited. They finally left and we sat in the booth although it was still dirty. I found it odd that someone had been sat in a booth that sat five people as he was alone and it was dinner, but we waited. I saw that a woman came in and as I'd been here several times in the past, I knew that customers swoop in and just take tables as soon as they've been cleaned, so as soon as the couple left, we sat. I must reiterate that I had been told we could sit at a table and wait for a booth. The busboy came by and told me in a very rude voice to "wait behind the sign ma'am." I told him that we were told we could get this booth and we could wait at a table. The busboy violently moved the table back and forth while he sprayed his cleaner all over the booth and didn't dry it. I had to ask him to dry it after I sat on my suede coat on the wet booth. Then he proceeded to tell me that we were told to stay behind the sign until the table was ready. No we weren't. We were told to sit at a table and wait and I was afraid the booth would be taken by the single customer coming in. The waiter came and had this big story all of a sudden that we had an agreement that I'd wait until the table was clean, I'm not sure what that was about. I then told him that the busboy didn't need to be rude. He continued to argue with me instead of simply apologizing for the busboy's behavior. I will never go to Lakes Lounge again. I am 58 years old and don't have time for disrespectful people. There are plenty of other places to spend my money

Yelp
Lake's Lounge is like your cozy little neighborhood diner that you don't really see these days, especially on the west coast. They serve comfort food at its best. They have daily dinner specials that are super affordable, like the baked chicken meal on Thursdays for 9.99, which includes soup or salad. My personal favs are the pot roast, chicken parm, and chicken fried chicken. (get it with the beef gravy on the side) The meals here are hearty and the portions are pretty massive, so come with a big appetite. What also sets Lake's Lounge apart is that they seem to make all of their sauces, marinades, etc in house. None of that canned sauce BS, and you can taste it! We used to come here in the regular (at least weekly), but it's been harder to get a table as they've been getting busier and busier. Happy that they're getting the traffic they deserve, but sad that they're no longer a hidden gem :(

Yelp
Great friendly service and their food quality never disappoints. Great to stop off when you're hungry. They are open 24 hours. I've always enjoyed this restaurant and there's always ample parking. It does get quite busy so sometimes there's a wait but definitely worth it.

Yelp
Went to this bar a couple weeks ago around the same time of the day and the guy bartending was great and we said we will be back for sure. A group of friends an i stopped in for a drink or two, upon arriving there were 6 people in the bar, the female bartender came out and said are you gaming? we said we were not we just wanted to get a drink. She then said we needed to go to the dining room and that the seats were reserved for people gaming. Living in Vegas this is normal so we explained (like you do at every bar) that if they had people wanting seats or came in we would gladly move. She said no you cant sit here unless you are gaming. This bar has almost no seats to sit at unless you are at a machine. I then asked if they were willing to loose paying customers that live in the area due to this policy while the bar was dead to which she said she was. She stated she was a manager and this wasnt a bar for drinking and eating it is a gaming bar. Will not be going back and dont waste your time. Too many bars in this town with great service to ever go back there!!

Yelp
I am done with lakes lounge. Been a regular customer for a while. No more. The customer service has been terrible lately. Doesn't matter what time I go. I am a very easy going person. I don't ask for much. Usually order the same thing each time. I'm in I eat I pay and I'm out. Usually 30 minutes or less. Sat Jan 4th I come in around 5pm after a long day of work. The restaurant is fairly busy but I am lucky to get a booth next to the entrance without any wait. Unfortunately the problems started right away. After getting my water I patiently wait for someone to take my food order. The menu is still on the table untouched because I already know what I want. Well 10 minutes go by and nothing. I make eye contact with 1 of the servers but I guess I am not her table. So she skips me. Instead she goes to the booth in front of me, a couple who sat after I did and takes their order. That's fine, I should have my order taken soon. Nope. It took almost 30 minutes for someone to take my order. Customers who were seated after I was had food on their table before anyone even came by my table. Menu is still on my table. Clearly I haven't been helped yet. The hostess is telling new customers coming in that theirs a wait list. Well I'm sitting at my table doing nothing. Finally someone comes to take my order. The excuse was she didn't know I was her table. Not sure what that means but ok. Nobody noticed me sitting there and thought hey he's been sitting there for a while. Maybe we should check on him. Well anyway I order, and of course the food is delayed. I can hear the server saying out loud where is the steak he ordered. Poor people waiting outside while I'm taking up a booth not doing anything because there's no service available at my table. When it's all said and done I finally get my order. I eat pay and leave. Arrived at 5 and left around 630. Unacceptable really. But despite my long winded story, I still came back one more time Sun Jan 12 I come to the bar around 330 am. Again after a long night of work. I just want to order something and get out. Well Stefanie the bartender is not a very kind person and she makes people wait around to pay despite it being slow inside the bar. Tired of receiving poor service each time I come here. So I'm done. Plenty of other places nearby that offer 24-7 food and good service. They won't forget about you.

Been here several times and the food has been great on every visit. The only negative thingis some days the servers are not in a good mood. We love the steak and eggs special.

Yelp
Service has gone down hill drastically. Zero check-backs and you need to flag down someone for a drink refill. I would have liked mustard for my burger and my garlic fries were so greasy I would have paid for an alternative.... But there was nobody to ask. The regular wait staff we were used to from many, many visits are all gone ... I don't know if the restaurant sold or is under new management... its not the great restaurant it was a few months ago.
