All Your Nostalgic Classics Week 2015 Content is Here | Eater Montreal

"In 1911, 63-year-old Wolf Wiseman placed an ad in the Yiddish daily Keneder Adler announcing he had opened 'a first class delicatessen store at 35 Ontario Street West' where he would sell 'the best smoked meat, corned beef, salami sausage, and canned goods,' a detail Eiran Harris cites as definitive evidence that Wiseman — not Old Man Kravitz — was an early pioneer of Montreal-style smoked meat." - Eater Staff

Nice little deli serving breakfast and lunch. The barley soup and pastrami sandwich were very good although the pastrami was somewhat dry. Very pleasant staff and indoor and outdoor seating. Large free parking lot.

What an great local deli find! As soon as you walk in it has a great feel and even better smell. Victoria walked me through my options and I couldn't have made a better choice. The place is does have slightly limited parking but it is free to park.

If you’re looking for a legit deli in Lakewood Ranch, this is the spot. I personally recommend the Italian Mix sub — it’s hands down the best sub I’ve had since moving to Lakewood Ranch, Florida. The meats are fresh, the bread is perfect, and the flavors are just right. You can tell they put pride into every sandwich. Great service, friendly staff, and a clean, welcoming environment. I’ll definitely be back — again and again. Highly recommend to anyone craving a real deli experience in LWR!

Pleasant surprise, never knew this place was here - inside is clean and comfortable. Located in the San Marco Plaza, I’ve driven by it 100s of times but glad I tried on a recommendation. I tried the Chicken Salad and the Ruben Sandwiches and the bread is fantastic, not sure if they bake it there but it’s probably direct from a bakery daily. Service is friendly and my orders came out incredibly quick. I don’t know of any true deli’s in the area so normally have to hit Publix for lunch. Welcome change!

Dang! I really wanted a good cheesesteak and it was delivered! I choose to have mine on a wrap :) I also forgot to take a pic of the amazing the crab soup before I scarfed it down! Great experience here & will definitely be looking forward to going back to explore more on the menu!

Had our Manasota FNGLA board meeting there for lunch. Plenty of seating inside and out. Super attentive staff, food was delicious. I will be back!

First time here. I was nervous because I’ve been disappointed by so many food places. I was indecisive and the people there were so patient and helpful. I settled on the Greek salad with added chicken. Price was reasonable. Salad was delicious!! So much so that I stopped in the middle of eating it to call and tell the person who helped me how great it was! My family and I will become regulars! Thank you so much!! Excuse the photo, I ate before it occurred to me to snap a pic.

I wish I had known about the introductory coupon because I came there today for my first time and it looked great from the outside. It's in a nice little area and it's nice on the inside. The people are really nice but I mistakenly tried to go with something safe and went with the chicken salad in a wrap. I don't know what I was thinking. Maybe it's my fault. That being said it shouldn't be that difficult to make chicken salad it's just mayonnaise and good quality chicken with some other ingredients. I have to say and I can't say for sure that it's just their chicken salad or not but this was one of the worst chicken salads I've ever had. I even brought the second half home and tried to salvage it by adding bacon and ingredients that can usually save a sandwich and it just hadn't off taste to it. I wouldn't have cared so much if it wasn't $17 and change for a simple chicken salad wrap and a bottled water with no option of getting tap water. Out of all the places I've had lunch at on University or nearby this is definitely the most expensive I have experienced. At least as far as fast food places go. $17 is a bit much. Way too much! Especially since there was absolutely nothing special about it and it had kind of an off taste. I definitely am not saying not to try this place. I may have just gotten the wrong sandwich but I want the owners to see this so maybe they can do something about it. I understand food is expensive nowadays but that's definitely pushing it for what I got. It didn't even come with a bag of chips. And watch their commercial and their sandwiches on their commercial all came with chips and a pickle so I'm not really sure what happened there and I had also asked for a turkey club and they said that I could ask for a turkey and add bacon which I'm assuming would have been like $20. The sandwich is on the commercial looked much better than my rap and perhaps I'll go back and try a regular sandwich sometime.

Yelp
Stopped by for the first time today and it was okay. I had the tuna wrap, flavor was decent, but it could've used more tuna; there was plenty of wrap, just not quite enough filling. Also felt a bit pricey for what I got, took a bit long & was quite empty as it was early & had just opened. Staff was friendly! Hoping to give it another shot and try something else next time!

Yelp
The menu was a typical deli menu and had a lot of good choices. I chose the salad sampler to go. It had tin, egg, and chicken salad and was on a bed of lettuce with tomato slices and some strawberries and blueberries. They prepared it very quickly. The inside was very clean and had a nice vibe. There are 2 tvs in the dining area.

Yelp
Sandwiches were fresh and it's a cute little eatery. The service was good too. We ordered turkey and bacon on white and a ham and swiss sub.

Yelp
Based on all the reviews I've seen, I had to go and give them a shot. I got there about 11:30 and luckily, they didn't have the lunch crowd yet. It was a very clean place and their menu was easy to read. I got 2 sandwiches; Combo Reuben and a Turkey & Swiss. Both sammy's were large and delicious but for the price a bag of chips and/or a soda would have been a nice addition. I think they do themselves a dis-service by calling themselves a "Deli". They are not a deli. A real deli prepares most of their food from scratch. In fact someone who was ordering when I was there asked for'Chopped Liver', which would be a very common item in a deli, especially a Jewish style one. They are more of a soup and sandwich shop as there is no real scratch cooking done, with the exception of probably their breakfast sandwiches. I do not know as a fact, but I'm sure that they purchase their soups and sides prepared and are not done from scratch on location. Not that there is anything wrong with that, as there are many delicious prepared foods available, but again the word deli to me designates a completely different experience. I did enjoy my sandwich and will go back again because it was good and the service was incredibly friendly and outstanding.

Yelp
One of the absolute best Italian subs around LWR. Fresh and really delicious! Owner is always friendly as is the staff. Check it out. You will never have to order double meat

Daniel D.

Yelp
High quality deli products and slice meat thin and stack it up . Also they should improve on there bread I don't like soft bread for deli subs

Yelp
This place was fantastic, great sandwich meat packed high, very good selection and service was top notch!

Yelp
Both the Matza ball soup and the Reuben sandwich were delicious. I look forward to my next visit to this delightful deli.

Yelp
Friendly staff, great food! They were very accommodating for our event and worked hard to get food out in a timely manner.

Yelp
The Cubano was amazing! Terry who owns the deli was very friendly. It's clean and cool inside and the food is fantastic. I had some questions about the menu and Diamond, the chef, answered my questions and even suggested some off menu options. We also got the Philly cheesesteak and a melt. 10/10. This is my new sandwich joint.

Yelp
Popped in for a hoagie one day for lunch and glad I did. I got an Italian sub and hubs got a Philly cheesesteak, both were bomb. Kinda expensive but both are huge sandwiches and the hoagie rolls were really fresh and

Dave S.

Yelp
I had time to kill before a meeting and decided to stop in for a sub. Wow! I was surprised at how great it was. The price was a little higher than some place, but the portion was HUGE! Fresh ingredients etc...Great place! I will be back.

Yelp
Ordered a wrap that was terrible and not even wrapped correctly. Feel apart the second you picked it up. The people working there must have never stepped foot in a deli before, let alone work at one. Employee has never heard of chicken Caesar made into a wrap. Macaroni salad was just as bad. Pricey as well
