10 Farms That Are Works of Art

"Sylhet, in the northeast of Bangladesh, is renowned for the beauty of its tea gardens, and among the lot, Lakkatura is considered the most scenic. It is also one of the largest tea gardens in the country, covering a total of 3,200 acres. This estate was officially established in 1875, and it now produces an astounding 550 tons of tea each year.  A number of dirt roads intersect the garden, some purpose-built to transport tea across and beyond the grounds. Others are simply part of a larger network of roads cutting through Lakkatura, taking visitors through hills of neatly manicured rows of tea plants. Following the latter set of roads takes you to several rural villages in and around Lakkatura estate, including makeshift villages where migrant workers live during the harvest. The British East India Company first introduced tea cultivation in Bangladesh in 1840, but it was only in 1857 that tea became a commercial occupation. In 2012, Bangladesh produced more than 70,000 tons of tea. In spite of its small size, the South Asian country is the 12th-largest tea producer in the world, employing more than 300,000 people. The industry is supervised by the Bangladesh Tea Board and the Bangladesh Tea Research Institute." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

I went there last Friday with my two friends. We walked through the tea garden and climbed to the top viewpoint where you can see the whole Shahi Eidgah area—absolutely stunning! The place is full of greenery and peace, perfect for relaxing and taking photos. It’s a great spot to spend time with friends or family, especially in the afternoon. But sadly, some visitors throw trash around, which spoils the beauty. There’s also no proper security or sitting area. Still, it’s one of the most beautiful natural spots in Sylhet. Just make sure to respect the place and keep it clean.

A good place I visited on weekend. Refreshing and calm environment. After going there alone I realized that I should have gone in groups, so that I could enjoy the view more. This place has less people and more tea gardens and TILLA's. The transportation thing is difficult as the roads are broken. Though bicycle, motorcycle and some three-wheelers are seen usually, but no four-wheeler can go there so easily.

This tea garden is just 10 minutes away from center of the Sylhet City. It's a big garden and to view it you will have to spend some time. The natural beauty of this place is mesmerizing. At afternoon lots of people come here to take vitamin nature and get lost on it. Some local food carts are seen at that time where you can have tea and light snacks. Beware to not go deep of the garden without any guide. A must visit place in Sylhet for tea garden lovers.

Lakkatura tea garden is one of the biggest tea gardens in Sylhet. This place is really awesome. None will ask you where you are from. At that time, there was no ticket system. But some worker advised me not to go too far away from the road because the place was solitary.
