I was in Marina Del Rey, and when dinner time came, I had a desire for Thai food at a restaurant I had not been to before. While there were many eateries in the area, we decided to give La La Rice Thai a try. On arriving there, the small dining room was packed, and we got the only table available (right by the entrance door). At the onset, the menu was immediately enticing. There were selections that you generally do not see at other Thai spots. We ordered a hot pot of Tom Kha with chicken, Spicy Chili Fish, and Thai Spaghetti with Salmon in green curry sauce.
It took about 25 minutes for the Tom Kha to arrive, but the wait was worth it. The soup was vibrant, had robust flavor, density and a smooth mouth feel. Over 10 minutes later, the Chili Fish filet arrived. It was nice and crispy, but lacked the optimum spread of sauce over the dish, thus depriving it of reaching a higher level of satisfaction. Time was passing by and our last dish, the Spaghetti Salmon, was still MIA. What disturbed us most was that numerous patrons that were seated after us, had already got their food. Finally, after we passed the 50 minute mark, my friends had enough. Reluctantly, and in disappointment, we cancelled the Salmon order, and called it a night.
