L'Alentour

"This quintessentially cosmopolitan, downtown eatery of Beaune is the joint brainchild of Tatenda Mhende, in charge of the dining room, who hails from Zimbabwe, chef Natasha Watson, who is from Calgary (Canada) and Marc Marchetti, also a chef, who is a Beaujolais lad. This alchemy of buddies has sparked a particularly appetising culinary offering that is depicted by a concise menu of hearty dishes packed with punchy flavours, to be shared (or not!): barbecued oxheart tomatoes, smoked tomato water and mozzarella; crunchy fritters of mushrooms with marrow, chardonnay-flavoured vinegar gel; pork belly, patty pan squash and courgettes." - Michelin Inspector

I love their tapas concept with a french twist. You can order as many small dishes as you want and share it at your table. The taste and presentation of the dishes are really high level. Service is perfect. The -: it might get busy inside during rush hours and some visitors just dont get the concept. It's tapas.... 🤷‍♂️ It would prefer a smaller winecard but with more explanations. It's just too loaded.

A good alternative to the meat intensive bistro fare. The waiter recommended 2 dishes per person, and with 4 of us, we ordered the entire menu of 8 dishes. At $167 for the entire meal, it was a bit expensive as the 8 dishes included only 1 fish, 1 meat and 1 charcuterie. But the food was imaginative and service excellent.

Excellent meal. French tapas is the theme. We enjoyed every dish during our visit. As a group of 3 we ordered everything on the menu. Hard to fault a single dish. Was a highlight of our dining in Beaune and I plan to visit again.

Food is superior. Had starter+main+dessert lunch course. Cauliflower was very soft and sweet. Perfectly cooked soft pork, not too slaty at all. Coconut rice fooding was so sweeet. Absolutely best restaurant in France for a week of my stay including Michelin restaurant in Paris. Visit more!

We travelled by train from Dijon and were recommended L’Alentour. We were a table of 4 and only wanted a light lunch so we chose 4 sharing plates- artichoke cream. bone marrow croquettes, sour dough and asparagus. They were all enjoyable but the standout for me was the artichoke cream. The wine we chose was not available but the one in its place was perfect. Hand towels in the bathroom were actual hand towels which were a great addition in this throw away society

A French-style tapas restaurant featured in the Michelin Guide. All dishes are designed to be shared, and everything was incredibly delicious. I highly recommend trying their mushroom dishes, especially during October’s mushroom season. The meat was also excellent. It has a relaxed atmosphere. Definitely recommend it.

My favourite find of my recent Burgundy trip. Absolutely delicious food - sharing plates which is unusual for this part of the world. Great, modern flavours (fusion with various other regions of the world) with a French twist. Friendly staff that takes time to engage even though the restaurant is buzzing. A well curated wine list with plenty of drinking options. We had an absolutely brilliant Chablis that ticked all the boxes. We enjoyed the visit so much we returned a few days later for another visit.

Perfect. Me and my partner are vegetarian and had amazing dinner. Fully vegetarian. Recommend!
