L'Alentour

"This quintessentially cosmopolitan, downtown eatery of Beaune is the joint brainchild of Tatenda Mhende, in charge of the dining room, who hails from Zimbabwe, chef Natasha Watson, who is from Calgary (Canada) and Marc Marchetti, also a chef, who is a Beaujolais lad. This alchemy of buddies has sparked a particularly appetising culinary offering that is depicted by a concise menu of hearty dishes packed with punchy flavours, to be shared (or not!): barbecued oxheart tomatoes, smoked tomato water and mozzarella; crunchy fritters of mushrooms with marrow, chardonnay-flavoured vinegar gel; pork belly, patty pan squash and courgettes." - Michelin Inspector

A French-style tapas restaurant featured in the Michelin Guide. All dishes are designed to be shared, and everything was incredibly delicious. I highly recommend trying their mushroom dishes, especially during October’s mushroom season. The meat was also excellent. It has a relaxed atmosphere. Definitely recommend it.

My favourite find of my recent Burgundy trip. Absolutely delicious food - sharing plates which is unusual for this part of the world. Great, modern flavours (fusion with various other regions of the world) with a French twist. Friendly staff that takes time to engage even though the restaurant is buzzing. A well curated wine list with plenty of drinking options. We had an absolutely brilliant Chablis that ticked all the boxes. We enjoyed the visit so much we returned a few days later for another visit.

Amazing dining experience. Great food, atmosphere and pacing. We went for dinner and were the first to be seated- within an hour the restaurant was packed. Locals and tourists alike (and they provided dogs with their own water bowl). Feels like ‘fine dining’ with a soul. Highly recommend.

Right in the centre of town this small restaurant has a great menu of sharing dishes. Lovely staff, very friendly, great food and flavours. I’d definitely suggest booking. They turned a lot of people away whilst we were there.

One of my favourite restaurants in our entire burgundy visit - a must try. Loved every dish we chose (maybe less so on Tahini but still very good). Other three dishes (croquettes were a god send!) were all top notch.

Lovely little restaurant in Beaune. Not the usual restaurant: a French tapas style restaurant where you share the dishes. The recommendation is to order 2 dishes per person but we are dainty eater and ended up with one per person. Excellent service from one of the 3 owners. The gentleman from Zimbabwe, he called himself Mr. T. Great food- tasted good and looked good too. If you are looking to avoid the touristy stuff while walking around in Beaune, go here. July 2024.

Amazing food, not large portions for tapas but local ingredients. Fish was amazing, it just melts in your mouth. For wine lovers, they have an extensive menu. Food menu 1 page, Wine menu 5 pages, only the best. Deliciou

Lovely restaurant in the centre of Beaune with great food and very friendly as well as professional service. The menu is small (just as we like it) with as many vegetarian dishes as non vegetarian ones. I definitely recommend it and hope to come back when passing by Beaune again.
