L'Alexandrin

"L'Alexandrin combines originality with generosity, serving dishes made using fine, locally sourced produce. Each menu (vegetarian, revisited Lyon classics or pure creation) proposes a different take on the art of fine dining in an exclusive atmosphere. One novelty is the table d'hôte with four guests seated in the kitchen at the heart of the action!" - Michelin Inspector

Each dish was a meticulous composition, audaciously blending ingredients to yield an explosion of umami that danced upon the palate. There was nothing traditional about his offerings; rather than merely modernizing the Lyonnais canon, he wove together an eclectic tapestry of flavors and creativity. This establishment certainly merits the return of a star; I found myself secretly keeping my fingers crossed.

We really enjoyed our experience here! The chef greets everyone, he’s so funny and personable, we loved the exchange! We each had a tasting menu and loved each dish, its haute cuisine so with wine count 100€ per person but you won’t be disappointed 👍 Highly recommend, hope to be back soon!

I’m only in Lyon for a short time before heading to Paris - the end of my trip. Seeking a special meal as part of my Lyonnaise experience, i decided on L’Alexandrin - the menu appealed and it was within walking distance for me. What a joyful and delicious experience this was. I was able to have a fixed price menu for the lunch meal with the addition of an extra package which provided lovely little mouthfuls of delight in between the courses. For entree i had the scallops - the most beautiful, tender scallops with flavours so complimentary! I was recommended the chicken dish for my main course - again didn’t disappoint. I have not anything like this combination of flavours before. And the Exotic dessert - banana based but surprising and fresh and delicious. All choices for each course i would’ve happily selected - it was challenging to stick with one! The staff were kind and attentive and despite not being a French speaker, was not made to feel unsupported. The wine/drink selection was pleasant - as i was dining solo, i was limited to what they had by glass. I could not be happier with my experience today and it will leave lasting memories of my time in Lyon. Thank you to all who made my experience such a beautiful one.

I ate here yesterday, I'm very pleased with this place, honestly this restaurant is top! Me and my date took the chief's choice (chief is adorable) wine was chief's choice as well, everything was fabulous! If you want to pamper yourself, this is where you do it. You will find the sunshine in the staff and the excellent food you're looking for here. To the chief, thank you for such a great evening, I will definitely come back!

Brilliant food with a very hands on experience from the chef himself which made it feel special. The mushroom dessert was great. Initially we were worried how it would taste but it all worked so well. We also had the chocolate dessert, and both were the stars of the show

One of the worst fine dining experiences I've had. The food was pretentious and uninspiring. The dinnerware and plating were terrible. I could barely eat after the 3rd course. The owner/chef poured us a drink and proceeded to speak in French. I told him we did not order it and he kept pretending he didn't understand and walked off. I had already ordered an aperitif and he decides to shove us another glass. Of course, we were charged for it. This ruined my mood and I did not bother to order more drinks for the night. Regretted big time coming here. Never again! Wasted $300+ euros. 😠

I can't put into words how amazing this place is. The chef is super warm, friendly and welcoming and helped us with some wine pairing that wasn't even on the menu. Every single dish was perfect and I'll of flavor. It made me wish I had 3 stomachs.

Yelp
Dining at L'Alexandrin was such a special experience. It's a short walk from the main train station, in an area where I wouldn't expect to find such an exceptional Michelin-starred restaurant. Food was delicious and beautifully presented, and the service was impeccable. The chef was very accessible, and he was gracious enough to allow us to take a picture with him at the end of our meal.
